Description of Work: The movers were exactly on time, incredibly polite, and very efficient. The basement they had to move us out of had flooded the night before, so they had to move our wet belongings out of a very slippery room. They didn't complain or try to charge us extra. They did a great job and I would absolutely hire them again.

Description of Work: They were very friendly. Took everything in the order I said. Was nice about my son helping, and was excellent in the beginning. I understand we get tired after a while, but too many conversation breaks were taken towards the end of the truck being filled. They didn't tell me they were going to lunch and had to call their boss to find that out. Once back, they got my things in the new place fairly quick. I feel I overpaid due to their conversations buy everything made it unbroken, so I'll take it.

Description of Work: My son and daughter-in-law got hit by one of those scam movers. (Unfortunately,, they are not Angie's List members and did not read your excellent section on moving advice.) I offered to make some calls to ask for emergency service. UnderOneRoof was at the top of your list of providers. So I called and talked to Tony. What a guy! Even tho he was fully booked today and after he asked all the pertinent questions about the extent of the move, he was willing to make room in his schedule for tomorrow. He offered excellent suggestions for how my son could do additional packing today in order to save time for the movers tomorrow. In the meantime, my son was able to contract with another mover. I was extremely impressed with Tony's response to this crisis. I feel confident that we would have received excellent service from UnderOneRoof and am so appreciative of his professional courtesy. And we will be using his suggestions to prepare for the "real" move.

Description of Work: I contacted this place after being blown off my "All my Sons". This place never answered the phone. I tried contacting them every 30 minutes or so 3 times. Someone from the company contacted me 3 days later after I committed to Blankenship movers (who saved the day).

Description of Work: Company moved items from our old home to new one. All items were professionally protected and arrived safely, to include a glass display cabinet. Additionally, they picked up and moved a 300 lb Aquamassage bed from our storage unit without additional expense. 3 men performed the move. It was done professionally, quickly, and without incident.

+ -1 morePrompt, friendly, careful. The movers did not work very quickly, but I think this was because they were careful, not lazy or slow. The move took twice as long as I thought it would (6 hours, we had everything boxed and in the living room ready to load). We had some minor damage to furniture, but nothing noteworthy. They don't charge for tape or blankets and provide wardrobe boxes.
Description of Work: Loaded 2 br 1st floor apt, moved to a 3 br townhouse. We packed and unpacked.

They took great care in wrapping furniture (included in their price), and we had no damage to any of our furnishings or the surroundings. It was a very hot day, but the team got everything done well. We were very pleased with their performance, and would certainly use Tony and his team again.

The movers themselves were very pleasant and hard working and nothing was damaged. On the negative side they did leave old boxes from their truck at my old address which I then had to carry away. Also, some file cabinet rods were lost and they promised to search their truck and get back to me, but I did not get a follow-up.

+ -1 moreWe were very pleased with their work. They were available on short notice (I called a week before our move). Tony was very helpful and easy to contact. The company doesn't charge for all of the little extras, like rolls of tape for packing and covering furniture and stairs. The four movers arrived exactly on time and worked efficiently. They were very nice and constantly asked exactly what and how we wanted things moved. Once in our new place, they asked exactly where everything should be placed, including how the beds should be set up, so we would not have to move things later. The cost was comparable, if not more reasonable than the larger companies. When it came time to pay the movers, my husband pointed out that they had taken a 15 minute break to get food on the way up to Evanston, and they immediately deducted that from the total cost. We would definitely use this company again.
Description of Work: They moved us from the Lakeview area up to Evanston. We were in a third floor, two bedroom condo about 1000 sq. ft. and moved into a first floor, three bedroom apartment. In all, it took about four hours.

+ -1 moreI found Under One Roof on Angie's List and called them to get a quote for moving a four bedroom house. Tony answered the phone and was busy. He asked if he could call me back but didn't. I called him again and arranged a time for a quote. He showed up on time and seemed very personable and knowledgeable. He gave me a follow-up call and promised to mail me a quote, but he never did. They seemed to be very busy and the my job may have been to big for them, but this process was a waste of my time.

WE PICKED THEM AT FIRST BECAUSE THEIR PRICE WAS SO GOOD, AND IT INCLUDED A TRUCK AND MANY SUPPLIES THAT OTHER COMPANIES CHARGE EXTRA FOR. WE WERE DELIGHTED, HOWEVER, WITH THE THREE GUYS THAT CAME TO MOVE US. THEY WERE PROFESSIONAL, HELPFUL, HARD WORKING, AND FUNNY. IT WAS A HORRIFICALLY HOT DAY BUT THEY STILL WORKED HARD AND VERY CAREFULLY ALL DAY LONG. BEFORE THE MOVE TONY WAS UNFAILINGLY HELPFUL AND EASY TO GET A HOLD OF (EVEN ON WEEKENDS!). WE NEEDED TO CHANGE THE DAY OF THE MOVE AT THE LAST MINUTE, AND HE WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT HAPPEN. A GREAT GUY, AND A GREAT COMPANY.
Description of Work: MOVED US FROM A SMALL (BUT PACKED TO THE GILLS) TWO BEDROOM FIRST FLOOR APARTMENT TO A LARGER SECOND FLOOR APARTMENT ABOUT TEN MILES AWAY, IN THE CITY. THE MOVE INCLUDED HEAVY AND LARGE ANTIQUE FURNITURE, ART, AND MANY FRAGILE ITEMS. WE PACKED MOST OF THE ITEMS OURSELVES, BUT UNDER ONE ROOF INCLUDED WARDROBE BOXES AND EASY-PACK BOXES FOR ART, AS WELL AS ALL PADDING, PLASTIC WRAP, DOLLIES, AND ETC.. THEY QUOTED OVER THE PHONE AND CAME IN WELL UNDER THEIR ESTIMATE. THEY ARRIVED ON TIME, THE 4 MEN WERE POLITE AND HARD WORKING. AS THEY UNLOADED AT THE NEW HOUSE THEY ASKED WHERE THINGS SHOULD BE PLACED (SO LESS REARRANGING REQUIRED AFTERWARDS). WE WERE NERVOUS BECAUSE WE NEVER SIGNED A CONTRACT UNTIL THE JOB WAS DONE, BUT THEY DID EXCELLENT WORK. NOTHING BROKEN, AND ONLY 2 SMALL SCRAPES OF THE PAINT ON THE STAIRS. WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM TO FRIENDS!
