Please read this entire review as the length is necessary given the size of my project and positive experience with Trivic. I was impressed with Trivic from my first very phone conversation with Ned, which lasted about fifteen minutes and involved Ned feeling out what we were looking to accomplish and within what timeframe. No other contractor invested so much time learning about our project in determining whether to provide an estimate. Our renovation involved three main projects: (1) remodeling two bathrooms; (2) installing custom kitchen cabinets and new countertops; and (3) adding finish carpentry to the main level including new crown molding, baseboards and wainscoating. Trivic wasn?t the highest or the lowest bid we received (probably closer to the high end than the low end), but based on my first interaction with Ned I was confident we would be in good hands. I probably would have hired Trivic even if they were the highest bid. Our goal was to complete certain important projects (e.g., master bath remodel) before moving in, and Ned and his team effectively managed our timeline and expectations and met all of them. During the busiest times of our remodel, I was in contact with Ned nearly every day and usually multiple times a day. Ned sought our input on all important decisions and made his own where appropriate. His whole team was courteous and responsive throughout the project, willing to coordinate with other service providers we hired on our own (e.g., hardwood floor refinishing) and adjust work schedules as necessary. Ned can recommend specialists for any area but will not push them on you. For example, Ned recommended a painter but had no problem with us selecting someone else after receiving a few quotes. His team, Wesley in particular, is extremely trustworthy, takes pride in their work and it shows in the final result. I will let the pictures speak for themselves, but in short we are 110% pleased with the results. We wound up with a main level with all new trim work, a brand new kitchen and two new bathrooms. Given the size of our project and delays (on our end) in selecting materials, etc. we wound up with numerous small punch-list jobs like moving recessed lighting, hanging pendants, and installing a kitchen backsplash and undermount lighting. My experience was that Ned works more informally in terms of pricing for these ?add-ons? that inevitably occur with any project, but I was comfortable working with Trivic within this framework knowing that pricing would be fair and the work would be top-notch. We only had one minor hiccup that I can remember on our project, which I think is worth mentioning because it exemplifies the level of service that Trivic provides. Ned?s team installed a new garbage disposal while we were waiting for a connecting dishwasher drain hose. The dishwasher inlet on the disposal remained unplugged (due to having no dishwasher hose) and we had an overflow while doing dishes in the sink one night. I contacted Ned late at night and he came over first thing the next morning with a plug. Minor problem, simple solution fixed immediately. By contrast, we?ve had other contractors take weeks to correct issues. Trivic was an exceptional company for our project. We invested in quality materials and service and are happy with the result. We will absolutely hire them again and have recommended Ned and his team others.

I have block windows and they did cause a small amount of damage and the owner was very nice and they replaced that. The siding came out very nice and they did an excellent job. He did an excellent job matching the color of the siding to my garage siding, as the rest of my home is brick. Ned the owner did a great job and he was very accommodating.
Description of Work: They had to do siding and replacement of wood on part of our home.

The railing that he added was a good quality railing. They were able to do the work within one day which was great. He is very good about working with properties that I own and he is quick with the work and he will bring a good size crew to get the work done efficiently. The cost is always fair. The guys that work for him are great. They are very professional as well. While doing the plumbing box work one of the tenants dropped an earring down the drain in another apartment and they were willing to get it out at no cost.
Description of Work: He put new railing on a back porch that had rotted. He had to tear up the floor in a bathroom and put in new sub-flooring. They had to take the sink and vanity out and they put in new vinyl tile and they had to install the plumbing again. They did a previous job where pipes were showing through and he built a wooden box around them to be more decorative.

After going through a horrible experience with another GC, I found Ned (owner of Trivic Remodelers) on AngiesList and had him come over and see what he could do to complete the job. Essentially, Ned and his team had to complete the demo and start from scratch on the remodel. Ned was honest, worked within our budget and provided great advice on how to get what we wanted within our budget. Every person on Ned's team was great (plumbers, carpentry, electrical, drywallers, etc). Completely professional, kind (one guy brought cookies for my 2 yr old daughter!) and worked in a timely fashion. Ned has his work cut out for him with our budget and wants, but it worked out great. The project was on budget, we got everything we wanted in the bathroom and we're thrilled with the overall experience. I would definitely recommend using Trivic Remodelers and we already have additional projects lined up for Ned to work on. Additionally, Ned is a fantastic guy and we consider him a friend now.

We sought out Trivic Remodelers to perform a complete overhaul of our 1st floor bathroom, which had likely last been renovatedsometime in the 60s. We had a leak from the 2nd floor, and due to the realities of having an old house, the floor was quite slanted. Ned and his crew did a fantastic job with the entire project. I met with several contractors when I started this project, but Ned was by far the most thorough of all of them, taking time to answer questions and ask questions of his own. Price was right in line with the other bids I received, and when we discovered just how bad our stack pipe situation was, he worked with us to do the extra work without the cost becoming too onerous. His crew was very thorough, making sure to keep us apprised of all our progress, and making sure the workspace was clean every night. I'm highly impressed with the finished project - from the quality of the plumbing, to the tile work, to the construction of the new closet. Our bathroom is a whole new space now, and I would gladly hire Trivic for future work.
Description of Work: Performed a complete gut rehab of bathroom, and replaced plumbing in first and second floor bathrooms. New bathroom includes new fixtures, shower, repositioned sink and new closet construction.

It went great; better than great. I am glad the project is finished but I am really sorry to see them go. What a pleasure it has been to work with Ned and his crew. In late February, 2013, I found Trivec Remodelers on Angie's List after I had a bad experience with the contractor that prepared the plans. I decided not to have him do the work and was searching for a contractor that I was comfortable with. Ned responded to my email message promptly and we set up a time for him to come look at the project. I knew we would get along great as soon as he walked in the door. Ned is an absolute pleasure to work with. I can't say enough great things about him and the people he brought in to work on the project. I was on a very tight budget as I was getting the house ready to put on the market. I was also willing to do any grunt work to help keep the costs down. Ned was very considerate of my budget and time constraints and did everything to keep the project moving forward and on schedule. He also suggested things that I could do to help keep the costs down. For example, I purchased my cabinets from ikea and put them together myself. I also did most of the demo. work myself. The rest I left to Ned. He had great ideas and my kitchen is absolutely beautiful! He was in contact with me frequently throughout the project both by phone and onsite. I always knew the status of the project and never had to call him to find out the status. He even came over and helped me move my refrigerator and other furniture back after I had my hardwood floors refinished because my daughter was coming out to visit! He certainly went above and beyond. Today, was our final inspection and the project was completed pretty close to on schedule and budget! Now, I need to finish up my painting projects and the house will be ready to go on the market. What a great experience this remodel has been! Many thanks to Ned, Gustavo, Art and Jim!
Description of Work: Kitchen remodel which included closing up one of the entrances to the kitchen and creating a new entrance into the dining room, expanding two doorways between the kitchen and family room and dining room, and adding a small peninsula. It also included installation of new cabinets, under cabinent lights, new applicances, sink and granite countertops. The project also included expanding an existing closest in one of the upstairs bedrooms into another existing closest and making that closet a smaller and much needed linen closest.

This member never spoke to me personally. He might have spoken to another company altogether. My office personnel are professional and have worked years for us. This type of behavior is completely unacceptable and totally out of character for any of my employees. I think this member has us confused with some other company. If he wishes to speak to me directly he may call me any morning after 9:00am.

Ned Trivic is friendly and easy to work with. He makes very helpful suggestions and listens to your concerns. We have used him to complete several projects. He is very open to letting you do what you can do. For example, we finished the new woodwork ourselves.
Description of Work: Replaced 3 dining room windows, replaced wood trim around windows and floor matching wood trim in the rest of the house, repaired cracked wall surfaces, removed stained glass window for repair and reinstalled it, painted ceiling and walls, scraped and painted exterior window frames and installed plexiglass windows to protect stained glass windows.

Ned's workers always showed up on time, did their work, and cleaned up after everyday. Workers were polite, friendly and considerate of not getting in anyone's way. They covered areas when they knew there would be dust. And Ned showed up many days during the afternoons just to see how work was progressing.
Description of Work: Outside of house and garage were in desperate need of repair. Got 3 estimates and all were so close in cost, I had to go with my gut feeling as to whose presentation was best. Ned was by far the best. Repairs needed included new garage door and trim; new gutters and eaves (soffits and fachsia?); masonry work on chimney; new windows and doors; cement work at front door; cement layount of small patio area in backyard.

Again, can't say enough good about Ned's crew---each showed up every day on time; did their work; cleaned up after. Each person was also friendly and easy to talk to. Ned came to see how work was coming along and to ask if I had any concerns. Bathroom looks great, maybe even better than our upstairs one. I'm now getting prepared to work with Ned to remodel our kitchen. Have a budget I must adhere to.....I'll see how it goes.
Description of Work: Basement had been flooded 3 yrs ago, rebuilt ourselves except for bathroom. We didn't want to deal with plumbing and electricity. Since we had taken down walls, the bathroom pipes were exposed. Ned's crew replaced old piping with copper, put up dry wall. The original electrical input to the bathroom was outdated, and that was updated. Heat vent and fan installed, shower and wall tiles installed, floor tiles installed, new sink and toilet installed.

It went very well. This is the third time we've hired Ned and his crew. Demolition went smoothly. Of course we uncovered that the wall wasn't properly supported by the previous owners who removed a china hutch, but they fixed that. Smooth transition between crews. All-in-all, it took about a week. The finished product looks perfect. Most importantly, they have come in on budget every time, even with surprises (we're in a 1919 bungalow) and additions. Other guys will quote low to get the job then nickel and dime you, but that has never happened with Ned. We've never had to pay one penny over estimate or fight about anything.

We changed the scope of the project after receiving estimates from a few other highly rated contractors. Ultimately decided to just change the floor, install an exhaust fan, paint, add trim etc... Ned responded the smaller scale with reasonable and helpful approach. His team came in and did a great job. They allotted 4 days for the project and when it ran over a bit they stayed late and came in on a saturday to finish on time.

They feel like family to me because they know me and I know them. The work that they did previously, I was having a problem with. They came back to my house to correct the problem. We've got a 120-year old house in Lakeview. We were looking for someone to re-do the kitchen and adjoining bath, and to add a bathroom upstairs. A big project. I found Ned on Angies List, and he he came out to give us a quote. He convinced us that the project was too big to do without having an architect prepare drawings first. That turned out to be excellent advice. So we hired an architect to do the drawings. Ned came out a second time to give a quote. He took his time and looked everything over carefully. Then he came back again with the project manager, and they went over it again even more carefully. I was very impressed. They even climbed through the tiny opening into the attic to check out the roof and trusses. We eventually got the quote, and it was quite comprehensive. Unfortunately, it was about $25,000 more than another quote we had received, and about $65,000 more than a third quote. (FYI, we ended up going with the middle quote.) I asked Ned about that, and he felt that his quote was fair and reasonable. Given the big difference between Ned and the next highest quote, we elected not to use him. But, apart from the price he quoted, I was super impressed with Ned. He was knowledgable, personable, prompt and responsive, and it appears that they do absolutely do quality work. I would certainly consider using Ned again in the future.

We had a great experience with Ned. He helped us figure out what we wanted/what would look good (we had no idea what it entailed to redo a kitchen, or all the choices we would have to make). Because he is a contractor, he arranged all the specifics and coordinated everything for us, which is just what we needed. We wanted to say "here's what we want," and then show up at the end and see that it was done. The day after they started demolition work, I ended up in the hospital and was not able to meet them or be at home for the appliance delivery or to make last minute decisions. Ned took it in stride, and arranged for the appliances to be delivered when he would be there. He worked with my parents, who were a little more involved than my husband and I had been, and throughout the time I was in the hospital, I was confident that the work was being done well. One example, my husband and I had purchased some backsplash that they were going to put up, but we didn't buy enough, so they went out and purchased the remainder and put it up. One or two of the decisions we had made didn't make sense to them/weren't going to look good, so they very politely talked to us about them because they knew we would not actually be happy with the goofy ideas we had. When they presented the other ideas, we could see that they really took pride in their work, and all their suggestions were great ideas. When I made it home from the hospital, I found a beautiful, fully functioning kitchen. There were a few finishing touches that needed to be taken care of, but Ned was patient and waited for me to be available to make the final decisions.
Description of Work: Replaced cabinets and countertops, rearranged some cabinets and appliances, extended countertop to add breakfast bar. The plan was to redo our old kitchen to make our condo sellable within the next year.
