Description of Work: Helped me install a new lock on a sliding patio door. The charge was a little high but service was prompt.

Description of Work: I cannot recommend Tom's Locksmith's highly enough. Tom is amazingly professional, does a fantastic job, and is extremely reasonable. As the President of a condominium association I have personally used Tom, recommend him to others in our association, and used him for common area issues repeatedly. No one has every said anything but good things about him. When there are any issues related to locks in our association he is the first person I call without reservation.

Description of Work: Rekeyed 1 lock, replaced a deadbolt and knob combo, and made 6 extra keys. Came on time and was done in about 30 minutes. Cleaned up nicely and was polite and cordial. Would highly recommend him!!!!

Description of Work: I had called to set up an appt to have the locks rekeyed on our home. Tom quoted me $75 to come out (as opposed to $50 weekday charge) and 12.50 per lock. It just turns out we need a whole new door and the instalation will include a new keyset. I will try Tom again for future work.

Description of Work: We have an old house with many challenges--the old front door/lock being one of the challenges! Tom arrived when he said he would, showed us what needed to be done and then completed the work as stated.

Description of Work: Tom helped with changing locks to our foyer doors. This was not a standard job and he was very patient and creative. He has also responded to emergency calls very quickly. He is our go to person for locks. Highly recommend. Sorry. I do not recall how much we spent. At the time, I felt it was reasonable.

Description of Work: We had an antique lock that was over 100 years old that no longer worked. Tom had to replace the lock. The lock was old and very unusual, and so it took some time (almost two hours). He also put a brass plate over the door, which was made necessary since the original locking apparatus was so long. A first rate job!

Description of Work: He has replaced our locks on the front door of our building on two occasions and provided 20 keys. He is one of the few north side contractors who is willing to service the South Side. He is very reliable, prompt, and professional.

Description of Work: Tom installed new hardware onto our exterior front door, including new handle set with dead bolt, and separate dead bolt. This require re-cutting the existing holes as the hardware was not the same size as the old hardware, cutting and fitting all strike plates, etc. He also readjusted the hinges so the door worked better than it did when it was new. The total project took about 2 1/2 hours, for which he only charged $120. I tried to do this project myself, but when it became apparent I would have to re-cut the existing holes, I decided to defer to a locksmith. I called Tom on a Saturday, and he came within a half hour. I could not be more pleased with the job he did, and he asked so little, I paid him more than he asked.

Description of Work: The key for security door would simply turn around in the lock and not open the door. Tom could not come out the same day called (Saturday) but promised to come on Sunday morning. He arrived on time. He had to remove part of the frame from the door to replace the lock. He also rekeyed another security door and repaired a lock on another door. He was very professional, polite, and knowledgeable. The $147.70 includes a $50.00 service call.
