Tom's Locksmith Skokie

Tom's Locksmith was always very responsive, he comes out usually the same day. He has always done a good job, very fair pricing.

He arrived on time, completed the work in about an hour, and all work was satisfactory.

Tom was really easy going and fair. I called him out to fix a problematic deadbolt on a rental property and he was also able to resolve a couple of minor issues that the renter brought to him. Nice guy.

He arrived on short notice and completed all request tasks. Second time we used him without any problems

Tom was prompt in getting back to me on the phone. He was polite and gave me a clear idea of what to expect when he would come out to open my locked storage unit. He told me all the possibilities and the most likely outcome. He was right. When he came, the job was quick. He got our storage space opened and made 2 keys on the spot all for the price he had quoted.

Needed locks changed on house. Checked Angie's List. Called Tom and he was able to meet me there in a short time. 4 locks were changed quickly.

Tom's Locksmith came as scheduled and changed our locks. He offered me as many extra keys as I needed and was very professional.

Tom arrived promptly and installled lock. It wasn't an easy installation since the mail box was/is so old.

I had 2 door closers replaced in an apartment bldg. Tom came to the bldg., told me what was needed. he ordered the right size closers, came back and installed them. They work fine. He offered to come back and adjust them for free is needed after some use but that was not necessary. he was totally professional and easy to work with and I will definitely use him again when I need a locksmith.

Tom was very responsive and came out the next day to fix and install. He was very friendly and professional. I would definitely use him again in the future.

We needed someone who was responsive and reasonably priced, and did an Internet search. After talking to several locksmiths, I decided to meet with Tom as he seemed to be ready to do the work and his phone estimate sounded reasonable.Tom came in his fully stocked van and began working almost immediately. He did a great job switching out a number of locks, putting all of them on a master key, and making copies for me. Before he left I checked all the keys with the locks and they all worked. Very happy with Tom's performance and have used him and referred him to others.

There was a small thing I needed to fix and he was able to do this for me.

I have used them a few times and everything is great. He has been very quick to respond and to come out. The work has always been done just right.

Tom arrived on time and spent the next 4 hours dealing with all of the problems that came up in changing the locks at the apartment building. He did a great job, and I would use him again. Charges a flat rate of $15 per lock, $1.50 per key, and a $50 service call charge. For the amount of work it took, I definitely got my money's worth.

Tom rekeyed 8 or 9 locks in our new two-flat. He helped us consolidate some locks so that we wouldn't have to deal with as many keys. He was on time, efficient, and really reasonable. I would definitely use him again!

Tom provided a quote over the phone with a recommendation on how to lesson the cost (hardware from Home Depot). He was much less expensive that the other Angie's list recommendation (about 2/3's the price). He was available the next day and showed up 10 minutes EARLY! He was efficient and cleaned up after himself. He was flexible in fixing fence posts locks with existing hardware. At the end of the whole job he even charged less than he estimated which ended up being 1/2 the price of the other Angie's list recommendation. I would hire him again in a second! I wish I could find a handyman and a plumber as good as Tom.

This is the 4th project that I have had done by Tom's Locksmiths. Tom is very efficient, knowledgeable, and punctual. He charges $50 for the service call plus the cost of whatever needs to be done. I find his prices very reasonable.

I found him on Angie's List; he did a good job and the price was reasonable. He was very nice and called when he could not make it at the time he said. He also was friendly, seemed to do a good job and greased and lubricated everything after finishing. I have used him before and will use him again in the future.

After coming home last night I couldn't re-lock the door behind me. Something in the locking mechanism snapped off and the lock needed to be replaced. Didn't want to have to pay to have a locksmith come in after 9pm so tied the door shut, braced it and waited to call someone till morning. Checked various locksmith reviews here and decided to call Tom's Locksmiths and he got back to me within the hour. I called around 10am, he said he could be there in five minutes and he was. He quoted about $110, which the bill technically was but not including $50 for 'service call' so the bill really came out to $218, wish that had been the quoted price. But all in all still an ok price for the work done. He was going to replace the broken lock with the same style, but decided it would be stronger if done another way, so he tried a couple of different types till he found the right one for that particular door. He then put a new lock into another door that never really had a good lock on it and keyed both to be on the same key. Overall he was surprisingly prompt, quick to get the work done, took the time to do it right (chiseled out wood to make the locks level and recessed etc... ) and explained whenever he needed to use a different material than expected and gave me a lot of choices in which locks and plates i wanted to go with. I would call them again if I needed a locksmith.

Tom has been to my three-flat in Chicago at least four times. He has re-keyed the whole building at once and then each apartment when needed. His last visit was in December of 2011 to replace an exterior door handle that i had broken when trying to repair a door. I called Tom on a Saturday at 3:00pm and he was at the building by 5:00pm and had the handle replaced by 6:00pm. Tom has always done great work at a fair price. He is on time and works hard until the job is done. I will alway call Tom for all my locksmith needs.

Tom has re-keyed our house before, always punctual and responsive via phone. Our back door lock had jammed again, and upon review, suggested we just replace the full set this time. He ordered the parts and returned to install them a week later. However, one part was missing (he didn't know he needed it), and thus, had to re-order and return again. Fortunately, he did not charge me an additional service visit ($65) as well. Door's been working fine ever since. Although a bit pricey, Tom's work is thorough and his response time is great. We'll definitely use him again in the future.

He arrived a few minutes early, the work was done very well, quickly, and he did not charge any additional for accommodating my Sunday morning appointment time. He was even a good sport about my inquisitive, barking dog :-) Thanks Tom.
