The Fix-It Guy Appliance Repair Chicago

Our dryer stopped working the night before. I called the following morning and set up service for later that afternoon. The belt needed to be replaced. Also cleared out all the lint and gave advice on maintenance. Great service and would contact again without hesitation.

Robert provides outstanding service. He is immensely knowledgeable about appliances, and charges reasonable prices. No need to call anyone else for appliance repairs..he truly is The Fix It Guy !

Both Robert and his apprentice were both very professional and responsive to my questions throughout the site visit. Robert was very methodical and logical in his analysis, going from surface level to deeper analysis. In the end, Robert suggested that a relay on the PCB for the refrigerator was not consistently working. As an educated electrical engineer, I agreed with his assessment based on his debug process. Sadly, that meant that we had to order and replace the PCB control board for the fridge. So Robert scheduled another day to come out to install the control board, once the part came in. However, a few days later, the water dispenser and ice maker started working again on its own. Robert suggested I keep an eye on it for a few more days before we leave it as-is and agree to refund the cost of the part he ordered. In the end, the fridge is stable and working fine again. Given that, Robert refunded the money I paid in advance for the cost of the part. Even though Robert did not really have to fix anything, I appreciated his high level of service and problem solving skills. I will not hesitate to use him again in the future.

We called in the morning, were scheduled for later that same day. On the phone Robert accurately predicted why the washing machine wouldn't spin or agitate. He arrived promptly (with apprentice Dan) and with the needed part in hand. Washer was repaired. Robert showed me the sheared coupler that caused the issue and encouraged me to watch the repair process and ask any questions (i.e. "did I do this by overloading?"). Since he will check up to three large appliances on the same housecall, we asked him to take a look at our 2009 Kenmore gas range and diagnose why temp settings are so inaccurate. We were totally pleased with the service we got! Robert and Dan were professional and prompt, welcomed questions and we received the receipt by email immediately. He will be sending us a followup estimate of parts for the range and if we decide to have it fixed within three months we will not have an additional service call fee.

It was very easy to schedule time, they arrived promptly, were very courteous and professional. They also were able to locate the problem quickly and got everything working in short order. I would highly recommend them to anyone else.

The technician arrived promptly, was courteous and professional. He quickly identified the source of the smoking dryer problem, which was build-up of something on some heating unit. He cleaned everything out, made sure the ventilation was hooked up properly (electric dryer with vent to water bath). We were charged for coming out for an hour of service, and no parts were needed. Called Robert, lucky he had a opening and fit me in. Was prompt, and explained everything to me, gave me options for repair and priced it accordingly. Would use his service again.

It went great. We purchased our gas dryer from ABT. We called them for service and were told it would be two weeks before they could come out to look at the machine. The Fix-It Guy had a cancellation in their schedule and were able to come out the same day. (Normally, they said this type of call takes 3-4 days.)

I contacted The Fix It Guy regarding a problem that I was having with my refrigerator making a humming noise.Robert arrived with another gentleman( who's name I don't recall)that Robert introduced as his apprentice.After pulling out the refrigerator Robert and his apprentice diagnosed the problem(which was a coil pressing on the rear area of the unit).The problem was corrected and I was charged the service fee of $60.00 and was advised to recontact him if the problem occurs again. Robert and his apprentice were very friendly and professional.This was my second experience with The Fix It Guy(Dryer issue first time),with me being happy with the service on both occasions.

We wish we would have called Robert at Fix-It in the first place. We had another company come out to look at our stove top/oven. The range was not lighting correctly and produced a low flame. Without even touching it and simply writing down the model number this company quoted us $650 to replace 3 valves and a regulator. Feeling overwhelmed and dismayed by this the next morning we started looking for someone who would at least tell us if this sounded outrageous since we have exactly zero knowledge about gas stove tops. Robert was professional and patient he gave us suggestions to clean out pieces of the stove top while he was on the phone. This resulted in the stove working better and it seemed to him and us that the stove just needed a cleaning. We couldn't be more appreciative of Robert's expertise and willingness to share his knowledge. They are local, professional and clearly versed in their field. We will not hesitate to call Robert at Fix-it for any future needs.

The tech who came was professional and quick and checked both my appliances and fixed them to be safe and in working condition.

Robert is totally professional, knowledgeable, and really nice. Of the three visits he made to us, twice he was early, and once running a bit late. In each case, he called ahead to make sure the slight change in time was ok for our schedule (it was). For most of the problems, he was able to diagnose quickly, explain what was going on, fix it, and also explain what we needed to do so it wouldn't happen again. For the one stubborn issue with the fridge, he came back on his own time to make sure he could get the issue solved (he did)! Every time, he completely cleaned up, and we wouldn't have known he was here, except the appliances are all working. His pricing is fair and straight-forward; he charges by the appliance, not by the hour, so he isn't going to try to stretch things out. And he didn't charge for the follow-up on the fridge, and some adjustments on the dishwasher when he came out to do the drier. This is a guy who takes pride in his work, and will put in the extra to make sure it's done right. If we have any further problems with any of the appliances, we will definitely call Robert, The_Fix-It-Guy-Chicago.

Excellent in all respects. He's very professional and very dependable. Considering I talked to many other providers who did not make me feel comfortable. Robert quoted a reasonable price and followed through on everything he said. I really think Robert understands the proper way to do business. He was not the cheapest guy but he was truly the most reliable and professional. That said, his price was very fair.

Robert phoned ahead about 20 minutes to let us know he was on the way and arrived on time as scheduled within the window. He was courteous and friendly and diagnosed the original problem within a few minutes (an exhaust vent had become detached from the dryer and it was blowing hot air back into our unit, setting off the fire alarm repeatedly). He then recommended that we clean the dryer of lint (we had not done this in 15 years! didn't know). He removed the back and front panels and vacuumed everything thoroughly. We were amazed at how much lint had collected, some of which was charred indicating we had a fire hazard on our hands. Robert as great throughout and a really nice guy. We would not hesitate to use them again or to recommend them to others in our unit.

Robert came to fix a Bosch washer that was not spinning. He thought it might be the door lock that had already been replaced in the last 6 months or the control board. It took over week for him to come back with the parts. It wasn't the lock, and when he tried to put the control board in, he didn't have the correct part - either he ordered the wrong part or his supplier gave him the wrong one. Took another week for him to come back to put that part in. When he did, he was unable to program it. Over another week before he came back with information to program it, and he pulled the motor out as well. The washer runs but now makes a clunking noise which it never made before, and he didn't run all the programs to see if they were all working correctly. Well, they aren't. You can wash a load on cold but if you try warm and hot, no water comes in the drum. The hot water is turned on, so that's not the problem. Three and a half weeks from the first appointment and hundreds of dollars later, the washer still doesn't work correctly. Should have called Abt in the first place.

Justin came out quickly and fixed the refrigerator at a reasonable cost.

I had Robert Sr. come out to have a look at my clothes washer because it wasn't running after it filled with water. He arrived exactly when he said he would (barring traffic) and was able to diagnose the problem within a few minutes. The whole service took about a half hour and he was very friendly and knowledgeable. We were even chatting about the basketball and hockey while he worked on the machine! Definitely a great experience and I wouldn't hesitate to call them again for any appliance work I would need! Great job!

Robert was very friendly professional and polite. Not to mention extremely knowledgable. He determined that the noise was coming from a loose part in the compressor and recommended not replacing it because the fridge was still getting cold and the cost of repair was equal to the value of a new fridge and as long as the noise only occurred on start-up it was not worth replacing the fridge. He then went on the answer some questions regarding my own fridge that was not getting cooled. And his advice worked! Thanks Robert for saving me another repair visit!

The first time Robert came out I had a list of repairs to be done. He ordered parts to repair the ice maker and microwave and fixed tthem on the second visit. However on the first visit he was able to tell me what was wrong with my dryer and no parts were needed. The dryer was vented incorrectly. The stove was a matter of the wrong round parts ncorrectly placed on the eyes. He switched everything around and it worked. He had a great attitude.

Came over for 10 minutes and helped me disagnose my problem quickly and didn't even charge me for the service call, very friendly, and honest. It seems a father son run the business and run it well. They arrived right on time and offered to install a garbage disposal for me when it arrives, they didn't even ask for the fee they quoted me to disgnose the problem over the phone. I don't normally write reviews but feel they deserved one!

Sadly this was not my first experience with The Fix It Guy. The second experience was just as good as the first. This time I needed my dryer checked out and the light in my refrigerator repaired. Parts were ordered on the first visit and installed on the second visit. For both visits and service tech did a great job of explaining to me what the problem was and the process to fix the problems. Service was very fast. Tech also called ahead of the appointment to inform me he was on his way. I will definitely use The Fix It Guy again...but hopefully I won't need him again soon!

Top and bottom rack not cleaning. The technician worked efficiently and determined it was either a clog/cleaning issue or a failing pump motor. After a thorough internal cleaning it worked fine. Very polite and informative technician was in and out in about an hour Would definitely use Fix It again.

The service person came immediately when called and conducted an inspection of the unit and determined that the transmission was faulty. The part was not in stock so he had to order the part. The part was delayed a day or two. When it came in we arranged a convenient time to get the work done.

It was really easy to schedule the repair. The repairman was on time, and was very easy to talk to. Overall, a very good experience.

Robert answered my call, and happened to be in the area, so he was able to show up within an hour on a Saturday. He figured out the source of the problem within minutes, and had the part in his truck to replace. The entire service call took 10 minutes. He was professional, efficient and knowledgeable. I would use his service again without a doubt.
