Robert called me back on the same day and provided me with the instructions to unjam my In-Sink-Erator Garbage Disposal! I was convinced that the disposal was dead and needed replacement, but Robert called me back and provided me with the steps to unjam the disposal. I was a bit skeptical at first that this was the issue but he was right! And it only cost me the amount of a 1/4 inch hex wrench! I will DEFINITELY use Robert again in the future for any of these needs! I've added his name to my contacts list! Thank you Robert for being so helpful and honest! Anyone else would have charged me an arm and a leg and probably not have been honest about such a simple resolution.

I would not recommend them because they were very unprofessional. I remember they got water all over the floor. The person used dish towels to wipe out the mess that they made. They had to boil water so they just took a pot and used the plastic to pour the boiling water into the freezer to defrost it. They assumed that it was okay for me. They were just very unprofessional. They fixed the problem but they were just unprofessional.

It was challenging to schedule Robert, as it was easier for me to email and text - this latter option is one that the company's website seem to encourage. Robert, however, prefers to confirm everything over the phone in a person to person conversation - not via voice mail or text. I tried to schedule via text and he ended up calling me and left a v/m to call him. I called and got his v/m. He called me back and we scheduled an appointment. When I texted a few days before to re-schedule, he phoned me and told me to call him. I called and left him a v/m that I needed to cancel and reschedule - I didn't hear back from him. He phoned on the Friday morning of the cancelled appointment to let me know he was on his way. Luckily, I was able to pick up his call and we rescheduled for the following Friday at noon. All the scheduling hassle aside, Robert arrived within his one hour window and he's professional. It took him one minute to assess the problem. All-in-all he was in and out in 15-20 minutes (this time also accounts for a quick trip to his truck for a part, payment and receipt, and elevator rides up and down). Clearly, Robert is an expert in his field - and you pay for it. The rate was 150 to show up which included a minimum of an hour's worth of work. The part was $35 - which is good price considering it costs twice as much Online. Robert extended me a $20 discout since I was an Angie's List member - total came to $184 less $20 = $164. Summary - While Robert might be a bit pricey, he knows his stuff, is professional and is't looking to rip people off. So yes, I would use him again in an instant....even if we have to schedule everything via person to person phone calls.

I thought that my garbage disposal was broken so I called Robert and left a message. He promptly called me back and walked me through in 2 minutes what I needed to do to fix it free of charge. Once my next appliance breaks, he will be the first call that I make!

Was having an issue with my GE side by side refrigerator where it wasn't cooling enough. He was able to diagnose my problem over the phone based off of my observations, ordered the parts I needed, and was there to fix the fridge within a day of me calling. He walked me through exactly what he was replacing, the cost of the parts, and the cost of his service. Very punctual, very friendly, and great to work with - Even included a 3 month guarantee on the work! I will absolutely be a return customer if I have any more appliance failures.

Hire this guy! Called on Monday for an issue with my dryer, was fixed on Wednesday including a new part. Very professional

He was very knowledgeable about the appliance and found the problem immediately. He was very friendly and professional.

I called just before 9 am on Monday morning, as the washer had stopped draining the evening before. He asked about the model and what the problem was, which for me included that my 3 month old grandson has a pile of clothes everyday that he has spit up all over. I had a full load of drenching clothes from the evening before. He said he would be out between 10 and 11 and was here just about or before 10. He could not have been nicer, more competent or more professional.

It went perfectly! Robert came right at the time he said he'd be there. He was courteous and took care of everything. He also got the old screws out of the sides of the machine which I couldn't have reached. He also looked at our washer/dryer combination and gave us some advice on cleaning it. It was a really wonderful experience and I will certainly use his services again if needed.

Provider called approximately 90 min before appt time to confirm. Arrived on time, quickly diagnosed problem and repaired oven. Good Service , very professional.

He was amazing! He was willing to come out but said why waste the money if I can walk you through over the phone which was amazing and awesome. I would recommend him. He listened to me, he would make me feel like at home, he was able to diagnose the problem, he was able to walk me through what the real issue is and I have never had someone do that. He called me back in a descent time. He was extremely punctual.

They called ahead to be sure the time of our appointment was still good. It was quick and professional.

Robert was fast, efficient, and knowledgeable. He didn't have the part he needed, but he was able to create a temporary fix so I could use the washer until he was able to return with the part.

The service went really well. I was very satisfied with the work they performed on my dryer and I appreciate that they offer a 90-day warranty. They were very professional and promptly responded to my initial phone. I would hire them again.

I've used Robert twice in the past 4 months and am about to use his services again. Professional, punctual and reliable. He's not cheap, but as the saying goes "good work ain't cheap and cheap work ain't good". Hire the Fix - It Guy with confidence.

Robert the Fix it Guy, came and looked at our washer and dryer. He was exactly on time and even called just before coming. Took one look at washer, turning it on and said it was a barring problem and would cost upwards of $500 to repair. Better to get a new washer. With the dryer, he said it was a motor problem and it would need a new motor. It was a little pricey, but OK. We agreed to have him replace the motor. Robert said it would take a couple of days and he could be back out on Tues the 29th at an agreeable time. Just like he said, he called just before he was supposed to be here and got here when he said he would be here. Robert was friendly, engaged in pleasant small talk, was professional and knowledgeable. He replaced the motor, putting all items back in place, even vacuumed out the inside of the dryer. The dryer is running perfect. The best part is the cost was lower than what he originally quoted. He quoted $300. and because the blower was ok, he did not replace it and that was around $40. But the total cost was $219. plus the $60 to come out and diagnose. Yes, I will use The Fixit Guy Chicago in the future.

I phoned Robert at 8:30am on a Saturday morning..."help dryer not working". By 11:30 it was fixed and working !!! It doesn't get any better than that !!!!!

nothing it was a waste of time. he was timely in his response to my initial call, but there after it went DOWN HILL! He basically left us hanging...he had to order parts and we didn't hear a status update until approx a week in a half later. then when we did hear back, it was "the wrong part". will NOT call company/Robert again.

This guy is legit. I had a garbage disposal that was seized up due to dropping some broken glass inside it.... tried to vacuum it out, tried to move the motor manually, etc... took it apart and was prepared to take it in to be inspected so i could determine if repair or replacement was needed. I called The Fix it Guy and told him my predicament, and he walked me through a quick troubleshoot that actually worked! Didn't charge me a dime....Saved me $100+ and lots of time. I can honestly say that i will surely be giving them all of my future repair business.

He was very good. He had a suggestion over the phone but since it's a rental property and I wasn't there, I just wanted him to come out anyway. He was on time. Even on the phone, he thought he knew what the problem was and it turns out that was exactly the problem and he fixed both dryers and they're running great. He was totally electronic, I didn't have the bill, he emailed me the bill from his phone. The whole thing was easy.

You would think that someone who calls himself "The Fix It Guy" has a high opinion of themself.. In Robert's case it is completely justified. To watch him work is like watching a surgeon, he is in complete control, he knows exactly what he is doing, and there are no mis-steps. He fixes the problem in a timely, methodical manner. He is an encyclopedia of knowledge about appliances.When you hire him, you are hiring a master of his craft.

Came out a couple of weeks ago to fix my oven which had stopped getting warm. Diagnosis found that the electrical board was the problem. The next problem was that this board was discontinued, so we thought I had to get a new oven. Long story short, I was able to get the board remanufactured. Robert came back and installed the part, made sure everything worked correctly, and put the oven back perfectly into its place. He is personable, professional, and knows his work. I recommend him to anyone with an appliance problem.

I originally called the company to schedule an appointment and left a message with the details. I received a callback very soon after and scheduled a time to have the owner of the company come by and see what the problem was and what was needed to fix it. He called before he was on the way and showed up promptly afterwards. It turned out to be a problem with the drainage hose and seal for the washer that was causing the leaks. The washer was an older model so he called to see if the part was in, it was not, and ordered the part. When the part came in he said he would call to schedule a time to come and replace it. On the day the part was supposed to come in I called to see if it had arrived and was told that the shipment came in. Later that day I received a call that the shipment came in but my specific part was not in the shipment. It was then that he told me he would call when he had the part in his hand before scheduling a time to install it. When he came to install the hose he then realized that the putty seal was broken as well and was not attached to the new part, which meant he needed to get putty for the hose. Had he removed the part the first time I'm assuming he would have noticed it. I was not available on the day he said he would call to schedule an appointment so I had my father be the contact that day. I called in the morning and told him to call my father to schedule a time for him to open the condo and the Fix-It Guy said he would call back within an hour to schedule a time and five hours later there was still no call. I finally called in the evening and asked why he did not call us back. He told us he was sick, which is understandable as an unavoidable issue, however all we needed was a phone call and he said he would call and did not. It was then that he told us the putty he originally was going to get from Home Depot was not going to be sufficient and it needed to be ordered. When the work was finally completed it was done quickly and seems to have remedied the issue. He was a very nice guy, very personable, however his lack of communication and preparedness was frustrating and I will probably not use his service again.
