The appointment was scheduled by me via email; however, I was going to be out town -- so I left all the instructions (placement of lights, what time they were coming) for my husband. Upon arrival, the electricians called my cell, but I was out of town without cell service. My husband saw them parked in front of the house, but they didn't come to the door and knock. When they were unable to get a hold of me, they left. My husband had to call them, and they did come back. My husband was irritated because they were here and he was here, but they didn't even bother coming to the door. Once they came back, my husband explained what needed to be done, and they accomplished the installation of two lights and creating a junction box where needed in the time we had set. The lights work and the work area was cleaned.

Initial consultation by Marcus was about 2 weeks prior to actual work done, and very efficient. On the day scheduled for the work. they showed up on time, after confirming by phone, and performed the needed work within about 3-4 hours time. We wanted a previously unwired small room set up with an overhead light fixture (bare bulb with pull cord) and a double outlet, as well as two exterior power outlets leading from back basement doorway to rear patio/yard. All work was done to spec and works great, and they cleaned up after themselves utilizing our trash bins in the alley.

The work went very well. The electrician arrived at exactly 7am and immediately got to work diagnosing the issue. He was efficient with his time as well as extremely courteous and professional. He was able to succesfully determine the issue, identify the trouble spot and fix the problem. I plan on working with T&D Electrical to have them install rope lighting in the near future and would recommend them to anyone seeking professional home electrical work.

I called and was scheduled right away by a very nice receptionist. The morning we were due for service I got a call that they had an earlier opening, and Fermin (the electrician) was at our house within a half an hour. Well, after a thorough check, Fermin took me to an outlet on our roof deck that was sparking. When he removed the outlet right inside the door, it was charred and acrid. We were incredibly close to having a serious fire. I was very shaken up, and the electrician was wonderful; he cleared his day, ensured me that he would make sure that we were all safe before he left, and explained fully what needed to be done. We needed re-wiring and new dimmer switches through out the house. Fermin worked diligently all day. He was so respectful of our home, and incredibly nice to be around. When everything was done, it turned out that I had not needed new switches, and the bill was adjusted. It would have been so easy for him to get a higher rate by telling me the switches were necessary...I was deeply impressed with his ethical way of doing business. Even more important than the great work T&D did for me, was the compassionate way in which I was treated. I was really scared when I saw that charred box, and bothered Fermin many times during the day with my fear of having a fire. Each time he responded to me with patience and kindness. He explained why that would not happen and took my fear seriously. He took time to fully inspect all the outlets, the connections, the fuse box, and all the other things I do not have the names for, in order to make me feel confident of my family's safety before he left. That meant so much to me, and I think it is unusual. I highly recommend this company.

Able to do rewire and determine electrical current source. But didn't really help with kitchen light.

Electrician arrived on time (a little early). He immediately removed the defective light fixture in the entry hall and replaced it with a new one that the association had purchased. He worked quickly and efficiently and had the job completed within an hour. He also removed another defective fixture and replaced it with a new one in less than half an hour. Since I had pre-paid for two hours of work he was able to look another major electrical issue in the building and provided professional advice as to what need to be done to correct the problem.

On 6/17/2015 Marcus arrived ahead of time and looked over the work to be performed. Gave me some ideas as to how the job could be done within the guidelines of the City of Chicago codes. Marcus had tried to contact me by phone and e-mail, but had an incorrect phone number. After Marcus obtained my land line number he called me to apologize for not calling back to explain the no free estimates advertising. Marcus said, he will supply a free estimate within a few days. I will be waiting for the estimate. I guess they do need the business! The question above," Would you use this provider again?" the answer is listed as NO. Does not apply to this situation.. I at first gave Marcus an "F" rating, I do not have any work to grade so for now it is a "B" rating.

the electrician came on time but had wasted time looking for parking as I live in the downtown. His van was too big for clearance to my garage entrance or any other garage in the area. Finally when he did find the parking, he wasted another 30 mins by having to go to meter to put money in (could have installed the Park Chicago app to save time), and then a lunch break. The work was barely started when he had to leave because he was scheduled at another job which was very important. The office assured me that they will send the tech the next day at 7 a.m. but nobody showed up. The owner than shows up around 4 p.m. only to apologize (which was nice but still disappointing) and reschedule for early next day. The job took them much more time than needed with another helper added to expedite the service. I didn't get charged for the following days work (3 hours more) as a courtesy for the inconvenience. Nonetheless, I had purchased 4 hours of labor and had made for 4 hours more plus with a discount for the 3 hours labor. All is all, they are good about communicating but have scheduling issues. They need to be attentive to the customer's address and figure out about parking ahead of time when working in the downtown area.

I purchased a special 2 hour deal thru Angie's list and scheduled the service. The electrician, Fermin, arrived as promised and did the work requested within the time frame. Some special parts had to be ordered for the fan; they were a bit difficult to locate. But T&D Electrical got them and came back to install them. Now the fan works as it should. During the process, I also got to meet Marcus, the owner. He stopped by the job site and followed up with me about the parts. I was impressed with the interest and direct involvement the owner has with his electricians and with the customers. Everyone was friendly and easy to communicate with. It was a pleasant experience. I would use them again.

They came and responded quickly. They were very professional and their prices were very reasonable. They were very knowledgeable and explained everything to me in detail. They also educated me on preventative measures and were very quick to solve my electrical issue. I would recommend their services to others.

I initially called T&D on May 13, 2015 and left a voice message. When I didn't hear back the next day, I called again and spoke with a woman. I explained the work I needed done, and that I was looking for an estimate for the cost of the work. She took down all my information, and told me someone (Marcus?) would call me back to schedule. I then mentioned that I would also like help identifying which of the Angie's List coupons would be the appropriate one to cover/apply to the work, and she said "Oh, you want to use a 'coupon'?" Her intonation in "coupon" told me that I just dropped to the bottom of her list. Needless to say, I again didn't get a call back. I waited a bit (since there was Memorial Day in between) and called again on June 1st. She said she had given my information to Marcus, but she would take it again. So again, I gave her my information, what I needed done and that I was looking for an estimate for the work. She said this week was completely booked, but we could schedule for a week from Saturday. Fine, put me down. Then at the end of the call, just as we were about to hang-up, she says, Oh by the way, I don't know if I mentioned this before, but we charge $100 for an estimate. If you get the work done, we apply the $100 against the total cost." I told her the page on Angie's List said there were free estimates and she replied that she thought that had been changed (which it hasn't). I told her I was not willing to pay for an estimate and to cancel my appointment. Considering that the average person will get anywhere from 3-4 estimates, I'm not shelling out $300-$400 just to find out what the work will cost me. Reading the last 3 reviews, I see I'm not the only one who is unhappy with this previously highly-ranked company. Needless to say, I'm looking elsewhere.

REVIEW (6/01/15): I called the company to get an estimate on replacing a broken motor in my bathroom ventilation fan. A woman answered and took down all of my contact information and told me someone would get back to me regarding the estimate. Needless to say, I never heard back so I ended up going with another company. Not very good customer service in my book! ***UPDATE (6/02/15): I received a call back from Marcus, the owner of the company. He was more than apologetic about the mix up and we were able to schedule a time for him to do the work this week. I will write more once the actual service is performed.

Well, I have found my new Chicago retirement condo electrician for life - Mr. Fermin Britto representing T&D Electrical arrived exactly on time and immediately began tackling my list of tasks (above) with the precision of a Master Electrician with supreme confidence and professional workmanship. I have to admit my expectations were low on how much he could get done in such a short period of time and whether he could tackle the more challenging tasks such as new super bright LED fixture in master closet that had to be attached to 10ft. concrete ceiling moving it slightly from original outlet box, centering it, and wiring it back to the original ceiling box while making it look cosmetically pleasing but he did not skip a beat in completing everything I had planned and thus exceeding all my expectations. When he billed me I was shocked at how reasonable it was which has made me a T&D Electrical customer for life. He even agreed to do some measurements to present a bid from T&D for converting my current electric panel from 100 amp to 200 amp, running and installing new 40 amp electric range outlet, and installing a whole unit surge protector.

The service was great and the installation, replacement, repair, upgrade of the items listed went very smoothly. I contacted Marcus via Angie's List when I bought my condo, which is out of state from my primary residence, so I didn't have anyone in place to handle the electrical work. After interviewing him and 3 other electricians from the area, I selected Marcus. The reasons I selected Marcus and T & D Electrical LLC were not only because he offered a reasonable quote/price, but that he personally would be on the job. Also, during my interview with him, he was open and honest about the issues with the electrical system, offered some options, and was respectful and professional. The services provided that are listed above were done personally by Marcus and 2 of his employees. The service was fast, professional, and complete. He and his team worked well together. I had a couple of last minute requests to change the installation of a surface mounted outlet and 2 of the wall outlets, and he accommodated those requests with a positive attitude. I highly recommend hiring Marcus and T & D Electrical LLC. They are my go-to contractors for any future electrical work I may need. I will recommend him to other owners in the building as well. Thank you, Marcus, for being so flexible in accommodating my haphazard schedule.

When I called T&D, work was scheduled four business days out (which was great for my schedule). Was told electrician would be out between 7:00 am and 9:00 am. On the scheduled day, at 8:55 am, I called T&D to confirm someone was coming (the 7-9 window was closing) and was informed electrician would be there in 10 minutes. Indeed Fermin rang my doorbell at 9:05 am. Fermin was professional and worked very quickly and efficiently. Three new exterior lights were installed in 50 minutes and worked great. After that he checked the "buzzing" light switch, tested it and quickly determined it was a failed dimmer switch. Fermin had a Lutron dimmer switch in his truck and said the cost would be $45. He removed the old dimmer and replaced with the new one. In the kitchen, he quickly diagnosed the two undermount lights were failing due to a faulty wire. He fixed the wire and, once I replace the Xenon bulbs, they should work fine. Work started at 9:05 am and was completed at 10:30 am. Overall I was very satisfied with the work. Fermin was very capable and did a good job. The only reason I gave T&D a "B" on price was due to confusion on the bill. Fermin originally told me the charge would be $335. If the dimmer switch was $45, that meant $290 for 1 1/2 hrs of labor. I asked him for a breakdown of the labor charge. He said the first hour was $120 and the second and third hours (really 25 minutes) were $85 each,. Fermin said he started 8:00 am and I reminded him he rang my doorbell at 9:05 am. He changed the bill to $45 for dimmer switch + $120 for first hour + $85 for second hour (again, really 25 minutes) = $250 for all work done. That made more sense. Once the confusion over the charges was cleared up, I felt very satisfied with the work that was done..

Great. He fit us in his schedule last minute and was very efficient.

Overall I was extremely happy. The crew was very pleasant and competent, answering my questions as they worked. Additional minor work which came up was handled quickly and with no fuss. The originally specified undercounter lights were not appropriate once the electricians evaluated the wiring in the kitchen so a different kind was suggested, quickly obtained and installed.

We weren't really prepared for the expense but Marcus gave us a great price for the amount of work that was done. It was very well done and very professional and done quickly. We can now rest easy knowing that the building is much safer. I give these guys my strongest endorsement and will call them anytime I need any electric work done.

These guys were great. I received several bids and they were the lowest. Yet, very professional. Written quote. It was an outdoor job and could not be done in severely cold weather. The first time the forecast was warm enough to do the job they contacted me and scheduled the work. They were to arrive at 7:00am. At 7:00 am I opened my drapes to wait for them - their truck was already in front of my house. After several hours of work I went to look at the progress and notice they were installing the new meter in the wrong place. One call to the office and all was straightened out. They came back, at my convenience, two days later - again promptly at 7:00 am and did a wonderful job. They cleaned up completely. The entire crew was professional - they sent 4 guys each time. I could not be happier.

we had part of our kitchen unresponsive. Nothing worked. We tried changing the circuit breaker and it didn't work either. We called Marcus and over the phone he resolved our problem in 3 minutes. He returned our call right away. Super honest and helpful. He's definitely our go to electrician from now on.

T & D Electrical is excellent! I highly recommend them. I called Marcus on the phone told him what I needed and he sent Fermin out right away. Fermin was very professional. He knew exactly what he was doing. He was very efficient, clean and pleasant. He got the lights up in no time and they were beautiful! I highly recommend this company for your electrical needs. The work was done in a timely fashion, in one visit. The electrician searched the lines for the appropriate circuit, and completed the job without digging into any drywall. The electrician was able to find the line and complete the work for a minimal price.

I had a good experience with T&D and will use them again in the future for any electrical needs. They were able to schedule a free visit for an estimate quickly and schedule the work to be done quickly after I approved the estimate. They were on time, respectful, checked in with me often to make sure they were installing things exactly where I wanted and to make sure I was okay with a few holes they had to drill to install a new plug before they made any holes in the wall. They were professional and pleasant.

Marcus started working with us months before the work was done. The city had written a violation for the electrical service being too close to a roof deck. Marcus came out to look at it and then recommended that we get a ComEd contact to provide guidance. Marcus made himself available to meet with the ComEd contact multiple times to be sure that the work was being planned correctly. Marcus was on time, delivered quotes as promised and very responsive in general. He happened to be a lower bid than another contractor but what won us over was his character and other referrals. Marcus didn't seem like a fly-by-night contractor. Very happy with the work overall!
