Sols Chimney Sweep

They were good. They were not able to do the first job, but they did not charge us for that. They came up with different things for us to try and did one of those instead. They were very honest and straight forward. They were very friendly. I would recommend them to friends and family.

Sol was easy to reach by phone, and set up and appointment for the next business day. He and his crew arrived promptly. Sol was very knowledgeable and he and the crew were very competent. They were very conscientious and left no stone unturned. They even replaced the existing wrapping on the pipes with new heat-resistant wrapping, which was above and beyond the call of duty. Sol is very honest and and trustworthy - I knew he wouldn't "find" things to do that were not necessary. The price was very reasonable - it hugely exceeded my expectations, particularly after first talking to King Chimney Sweep on the phone, who had begun telling me about their stainless steel liner which is $2500 and up.

They were very punctual and competitively price. They were very professional and did what they said they would. I would use them again if need be.

Sol and his crew did a GREAT job! They were timely (finished ahead of schedule), right on budget, communicative, knowledgeable and left the house - inside and outside - cleaner than it was before they came. A+++ The only reason we scheduled the work more than 2 weeks in advance was because of weather issues only. Sol clearly takes great care and pride in his work!

I had today off from work and called Sol's at about 9:30 this morning to schedule a chimney cleaning and dryer vent cleaning. The person who took my call scheduled the cleaning for today and told me that their representative Greg would probably call between 1 and 2 PM. The call came in just before 1 and they arrived 30 minutes later. Despite having to clean one of the dirtiest chimneys they had seen, both the chimney, dryer vent and fireplace, were cleaned by 2:15 and at the estimated price. The fireplace is spotless! The cleaners performed the job efficiently and in a very clean manner. These guys are great!

It went very well, appointments were kept, and workmen called when they were stuck in traffic and would be a few minutes late. The contractor they referred us to for tuckpointing ($200) also was responsive and professional. So far, the work seems to be keeping the cold air out (and it has been really cold this week).

Sol called the morning he was to arrive to confirm the appointment time. He called again when he was about 5 minutes from the house to let me know he was on his way--I was impressed by this. He and one of his employees arrived and got to work immediately. Sol cleaned and inspected the fireplace while his employee cleaned out the ash basin in the the furnace room. The ash basin was in an awkward spot behind the water heater and furnace, but the employee did a great job cleaning it out. (It hadn't been cleaned out for at least 7 years and was overflowing) and left the area spotless. Sol also left his work area spotless. Although the cost to empty the ash basin was extra, it was worth it.

Sol was very prompt in returning all of my phone calls. The work was performed in two operations. First two gentlemen came out to perform the exterior chimney work. They were both pleasant, personable and thorough in their craft. About three days later, Sol, his brother Greg and Reuben came out to install the two liners and do the interior wire brushing, tuck-pointing and sealing of the chimneys. The work went quickly and efficiently. Reuben even did some additional things that were not a part of the quoted work. All three were quite nice and methodical in their work. After they were finished, they called me upstairs to see all that they had accomplished. Their work was clean, smooth and impressive. Sol was very communicative throughout the entire process, letting me know what was being done and the time-frames involved. I would highly recommend them for any chimney work that you may have. Sol is a young man with an old-world ethic. His word is his bond (quite refreshing)!

Sol and Rubin arrived and were thorough and quite competent, and spent almost two hours in our home. They went beyond the routine chimney cleaning, and also cleaned our fireplace doors (which sorely needed it!), and performed some nice tuckpointing that we required as well. Sol noted that our flue trap had excess build up, and he cleaned that. We needed a new gas log lighter as ours had become clogged and was slow when we used it for our wood-burning gas-starter fireplace. Our fireplace grate was practically falling apart, and that was replaced as well. We will be recommending Sol's company, and plan to use their services yearly.

They came in, were very nice, polite, and made sure my house did not get dirty. Very honest and showed me the other work (tuck pointing of fire box) that needed to be done.

Sol was terrific in that he personally took my call as well as did a great job, having exceeded our expectations, on fixing our ventless fireplace. This all took place at our condo that we are currently renting out so he met with our renters and they were impressed also. I'm glad I could rely on Sol to even be sensitive to the situation of accommodating our renters, even tho we'd never met him, had the highest confidence in sending him there just by our initial phone call and he proved us to be right.

I would say that they were extremely thorough. They cleaned the chimneys so well and I couldn't have done a better job myself. I would literally eat out of them. They left the area clean and they were very knowledgeable and friendly.

Sol is very efficient and professional. He was prompt in returning calls and scheduling an estimate, called several days in advance to confirm our appt, arrived with his crew on time and worked through until completion. His crew cleaned up everything and left the area looking spotless. I had confidence that he knew what he was doing and that our house is now safer thanks to his work.

Sol explained that the odor we had from the chimney was because it was very dirty and water had been coming down it because the damper was open (we had recently had heavy rain). He also cleaned the chimney and inspected it, finding that there are deficiencies and that we should have work done if we are to have a fire.

Sol was great. Did not do work that did not need to be done. He's completely honest and reliable!

Terrific! Sol was cheaper by far-other companies tried to get us to rebuild chimney-and great to deal with start to finish. He and his crew were on time for estimate and both days of work, even calling before arrival. They were considerate, cleaned up after themselves (even left appliances cleaner than the way they found them), closed doors and gates, etc. Sol is a good, honest guy.

I had recently moved into a home with two non working fireplaces. I called Sol when water came in the one after a storm. They were friendly, thorough and responsive. They were very clear in explaining my options and tried to offer the most economical alternatives. When I am ready to repair the second chimney I will definitely give them a call.

Beautiful work done by men who clearly know their business. I called because there were flies all over my living room and I determined it must be from the fireplace. Sol came the very next morning at 8 am to help me! He couldn't have been more professional or friendly. It was great that he did the work himself with his brother and didn't sub-contract out to hired help. Working with him it is clear that he takes pride in his work and is very honest. He let us know we needed a chimney liner if we wanted to safely use the fireplace which would cost $3000, but he also explained a less-expensive option of transforming our fireplace into gas. I was really impressed with his honesty. It was clear he wanted the solution that was right for us. We asked him to look at other problems we've been having with the chimney and he gave us a quote for that work. We plan on having him back to complete the extra work because we were so impressed.

The job went very well. They were prompt and very personable. They explained every step of the job, did it efficiently and left the work area very clean.

Both of the brothers seemed very competent, timely and I thought their price was really good for what we were asking them to do. They gave us a lot of recommendations regarding converting to a vent-free fireplace. We'll certainly use them again.

Sol's had provided a maximum estimate based on what they saw when they came out the first time. The work turned out to be much more complicated than anticipated, due to the bizarre way in which the previous installation was done, and they ended up spending several hours on the job. Nonetheless, they stuck with their original quoted price without complaining and did an excellent job. They were punctual, professional and explained clearly what they were doing.

They were on time, good and reliable. They did the job they promised they would do. I would recommend them.
