Sols Chimney Sweep

I called Sol on a Thursday and he said he could come the next day ("you can't be without heat, it's cold"), but that didn't work for me, so he accommodated my schedule since it wasn't an emergency. He took a look and told me he would need to have his brother (the expert on furnace piping) come out. His brother came out, priced it all out, I accepted their offer a few days later. Sol drove over from the office to pick up the signed contract and check to save me a stamp, and he ordered the pipes that day. We scheduled for about a week later, but he called to ask if it was okay to reschedule since they would be working 6 hours outside and the forecast was below zero, and I said that worked. Since I couldn't be home that day, Sol offered a couple of possible solutions. We ended up having a neighbor let his crew in. They worked quickly and cleanly and it all got installed beautifully. When they were done, they went over exactly what they did. At every step of the way when coming out, Sol and his crew always gave me a heads up that they were on their way and they were very polite. These folks are straight shooters, good workers, and try to explain every detail.

The gas company shut off the water heater because of a blocked chimney. I found Sol's Chimney Sweeps on the Angie's List website. Sol stopped by ten minutes earlier than promised the morning after I called. He reviewed the situation, suggested the solution and said he would be able to clean the chimney at that time. He provided an on the spot quote for the work that needed to be completed. He was also able to rescheduled a job he had for the following day to put my new liner install on the schedule for the next morning. After installing the new liner, cap and water heater chimney. Sol's workers also hooked up and re-lit the water heater. His workers were very professional and did a great job cleaning up the project area.

Our first floor furnace sensor tripped because of a blockage in the chimney. Our entire 2 flat was being heated by the 2nd floor furnace. Very responsive to my call. Was able to have his crew out in 2 days (would have been sooner but my schedule would not allow it). Did the cleaning and inspection. The estimate for the stainless chimney liner was a lot lower than others we talked to. Based on another job that was resscheduled, they were able to do our job less than a week later. The guys were troopers and worked in a snow storm. They were very nice & did a good cleanup when they were done

We love the Chimney Sweep guys. They went above and beyond the collar to see what was wrong. They didn t just repair what we wanted them to do, but they noted that there was a problem else where. They were very thorough and they fixed the hardware problem that we didn t even know about.

The cleaning went well and they returned the following day to repair the cap.

Chimney sweep was on time for the initial appointment. After completing work, he thoroughly discussed the condition of the chimney and recommended the installation of a steel chimney cap. That installation took place on the following visit to our house. Once again, the crew was on time.

They gave me a free estimate. They were very thorough. When I compared around the price was really good. They came out the day they said they would. When they went to do the job they found more work to be done including adding additional pipes. They took care of that and didn't charge me any extra. It all appears to be an excellent job at a good price.

I had two ugly ventless fireplaces I have never been happy with. I knew that it would have been a lot of work to replace them since I also needed flues for bot of them (the chase was already there). I hired Sol and Greg after getting other bids because I was impressed with their expertise and their estimate seemed reasonable. They were punctual, very efficient and very clean. The work for one fireplace was complicated by the fact that the firebox was a few inches too deep for the space I had available. Greg did not give up and creatively found the way to fit that firebox perfectly. They worked on it for a whole day and to my surprise, right after they finished, they sent a cleaning service to take care of the dust. The installation of the second firebox went also very well. I have some unused pipes going through the chase and I was worried Greg could not fit the venting. Again, he worked around the pipes, installing the firebox and the vent without problem. They picked up all the debris and left the place clean.

Punctual. Professional. The sweep (who did not look like Dick Van Dyke) took the time to explain potential areas of future maintenance (i.e. leak) and even went up onto snowy roof to review the cap to the chimney to see if there was anything else he could do rather than wait for us to reschedule a visit. He also repainted the interior of the chimney. I thought the price was fairly reasonable.

Came when promised, called first, explained work thoroughly, very neat, very friendly.

It was good. They did a thorough inspection. They tolerated all my questions. The customer service was great because they worked me in on short notice.

They called to tell me they were on their way and arrived on-time. They worked efficiently and cleaned up after themselves. They answered all my questions.

Had an Angie's List heating company inspect my furnace hot-water radiator boiler. The worker diagnosed a bad heat-exchanger and dangerous CO2 blow-back. The unit was 30+ years old, so they installed a new boiler. It still did not vent properly. Authorized a new chimney liner. After weeks of failed appointments, a crew finally arrived. They said the roof was too steep. Called Sol's. Sol came out on a Sunday, and cleared a low chimney blockage at no charge. Seems my mortar/tile chimney had no liner or cap, which explained the blockage and some interior plaster damage. Contracted Sol's to perform the work described above. Arrived promptly, as scheduled. Quick, professional, respectful. Excellent work. Chimney stack looks like new. Seems like I may not have required a new boiler, after all (and I'll rate that other company separately).

Punctual. Professional. Gave a detailed estimate and stuck to it. Work was done excellently. They went above and beyond even removing an old antenna on the roof. I would highly recommend Sol's.

The estimating process was very smooth. We had to reschedule once and Sol was very flexible and came out to see us on a Sunday, to accommodate our schedules.

I was told by a roofing contractor that the top of my chimney was crumbling and it would cost thousands to repair. I called Sol who had done chimney sweeping for us before and asked him to come inspect my chimney. He rearranged his schedule to come the very next day because the roofer had told me the chimney was dangerous with bricks about to fall down. Sol's crew came and found that an interior barrier wall inside the chimney separating the stacks had some loose bricks which they removed and they also tuckpointed a few areas. Then they painted on a concrete water sealer to protect the upper rim of the chimney. There was no danger of my chimney crumbling. The roofing contractor (who quoted me $4,0000) was lying to me. Sol charged me $425 for the work he did. His company is so honest and I am so grateful.

Went well. They called to verify address and directions plus confirm time. They arrived on time. They explained things well and did a fantastic job cleaning up at the end of the job.

Called Sol's in the morning and did not expect to get an appointment any time soon. They were able to come out that afternoon! They called when they were going to be late, which I appreciated that they did not wait until they were already late to call. Two gentlemen came over. They both have years of experience and expertise. After a clean sweep, they advised me not to use my fireplaces, as the former owner caused a chimney fire and the linings are now damaged. They gave me a clear list of what needed to be done to repair the fireplaces and costs for each step. I don't know if I will repair the chimneys because it will be very expensive, but I appreciate their promptness, neatness, and obvious care for what they do.

I contacted SOL'S CHIMNEY SWEEP INC on Saturday. They returned the call on Monday and scheduled the job for Wednesday. Two men arrived, Greg and the Chimney Sweep Guy (he did all the work). They arrived on schedule. Immediately went to work on cleaning the fireplace in the living room, including the space behind the damper, which was very dirty. He then proceeded to fireplace in the Bsm (former Rec. Room). He spent more than an hour cleaning both fireplace, He was very neat, and cleaned every thing up. He answered all my questions, was very polite. Provided me with invoice and a condition report, when the job was finished. He also provided an estimate on tuck pointing and installing a new damper for future work.

He was superb. He was punctual, responsive and priced it well. He did the work competently. He was neat and clean with his work. He able work around our schedule. I would surely use him again and recommend him highly.

We called them because we got no satisfaction from another company on the damper they had installed that never worked and allowed drafts and smell into our house. We called Sol's because of their ratings and specifically the mention of their attention to detail and 'old world ethic.' Sol's brother came out and inspoected the old faulty damper. He said we needed a cleaning even though we hadn't used the fireplace very much--because fewer fires actually allow more creosote to build up as the flue never gets hot enough to burn off the residue. Who knew?! He explained what he needed to do, gave us a price, and did the work on the spot. After he installed a clearly more appropriate fitting damper and cleaned the chimney--you could eat out of it now--he also voluntarily cleaned the inside of our glass enclosure doors. As they were working they had spread out large padded tarps to catch any dust and debris. At our request, he also explained how he could fix a problem with the location of the gas starter, and even gave us a very reasonable estimate for replacing the "works" with gas logs and grate etc. All in all, a very successful visit. We would definitely call them again!!!

It was a very positive experience. They were quick and were there on time. The people that did the work were respectful and pleasant around my home, if I ever had to get that done again I would consider using them

They were reasonable. They actually went over and above what they said they were going to do and they did not charge any extra. They were professional and clean. For the work that they did, this was a very reasonable price. I can't say enough good things about them.

They worked with my tight schedule and came out quickly. They did a great job and cleaned up well. They also were reasonably priced compared to another quote. The other quote included more work, but I think Sol's found the right amount of work for what I needed (did not oversell). They also worked well in between another plumber-contractor. They left him materials for a larger hook up to a new water heater while leaving it hooked up to the old water heater using a reducer. Nice job.

They were very friendly when I meet with them. They left the place really clean and did a really professional job. I would use them again and recommend them to others.
