Sols Chimney Sweep

Sol came out within a day to give me a no-hassle quote. His quote was cheap, and the scope of repairs was less than others had told me was necessary (for example, he tuckpointed the chimney bricks while another wanted to rebuild the whole thing from the roof line up). We hired him and they worked two straight days. They were professional and hard working, and the fireplace looks great. We could not be more pleased.

There was smoke coming out of our unit. We called them to come out and look at our chimney caps to put on a device on top of the chimney to stop the smoke from coming in. We found them to be very helpful and very knowledgeable. Everything worked out great overall. We haven?t had any issues since.

Couldn't have been better. They answered the phone when I called (a rarity when trying to schedule jobs and/or estimates these days). They gave me a discount for being an Angie's List member. They scheduled me the next day....He showed up on time, was very thorough in making sure he kept the place clean, and had the job done within about 30-40 minutes. I'd use them again for sure.

Sol and his team did a wonderful job. He provided a detailed quote with pictures of a few cracks in the chimney, and gave me two options on how to handle the issues. He seemed very knowledgeable and at no point went for the "hard sell" -- just gave me the facts. When I opted for the more thorough fix, he even threw in some extras like sweeping the chimney at no charge. He was able to schedule me within a week, and his team handled the job efficiently and professionally. They even removed an old 1950s-era TV antenna that was strapped to the chimney, which I really appreciated. (Amazing how much better it looks now!) The new gas log is beautiful, and the guys made sure I knew how to operate it before they left. The fireplace and yard were both spotless when they were done. I couldn't be happier.

He is very nice and good, but we did not have any work done. He was very personable, efficient and reasonable. He was also knowledgeable.

Excellent. Arrived on time. Very professional. Other chimney company quoted a ridiculous amount to basically redo chimney. Sol's group prefers to try and repair and save old home's features than rip them out. Definitely the mentality we were looking for.

Sol's guys were terrific. They gave a good quote, explained the work well and were prompt and got it done right. They came back a few weeks after to look at something that might have been a problem related to the work. It turned out it wasn't, but they actually fixed the problem anyway without any charge. So, it seems like they're just good businessmen.

They may do good work, I did not use them. Be very careful since they suggested work that may or may not needed to be done to drum up business.

The technician showed up on time, very professional, and spent about an hour cleaning and servicing the chimney. He found it structurally sound, and gave us a comprehensive report on its condition.

Sol and his assistant arrived on time and immediately started work. They were both very respectful and polite. They removed their shoes, spread out a tarp around fireplace and were very careful throughout the process. Despite the inclement weather, they also inspected the exterior of the chimney to the best of their ability. We thought we had an issue with a wasp nest in the chimney and Sol did a very thorough inspection and happily reported that no wasps were present. Charges were very reasonable and Sol only pointed out repairs that actually were required versus trying to sell add ons. We would definitely use Sol again.

They were very good, responsive, pleasant and neat. The person wasn?t there when I called but they gave them the message right away and they got back to me right away to set up an appointment. They came out when they said they were coming. They were fair in their estimate and the actual price was very good too. One of the reasons that I chose them was because they were rated well on their pricing. They also included something in the job that was not needed to be included. Their quality was terrific. I would rate them highly and would use them in the future, if necessary.

Overall, these guys were pretty good. I talked to the Sol over the phone to set up an appointment. He was very helpful, and worked with me to set one up as quickly as possible, and also worked with me to change it when my circumstances changed. The sweeps were for a home I am purchasing, so time was of the essence in terms of getting someone to look at the fireplaces. The workers that came were pretty good. They did show up over an hour late, but I can't fault them for that since I moved the appointment, and they were coming from downtown Chicago to Elmhurst during rush hour. Nothing you can do about that, so I give them an A for responsiveness for quick call backs and working with me on the change, and in fairness will decline a rating on punctuality. I priced out the services with several chimney sweeps, and went with these guys because they had the availability to do it and were reasonable with respect to other bids I got over the phone. I give them a B on price since the most highly rated sweep that I talked to was going to do the services for less, but wasn't available prior to my closing. I also give them a B on quality since they never went on the roof, nor did they take pictures. The worked efficiently though, cleaned up after themselves, did not leave a mess and provided me with a written estimate for some preventative maintenance that they said would be necessary down the road. They also answered all my questions easily and directly. I say that I would not go with them again ONLY because if any work came up in the future, I would try the company that I refer to above (who I'm not mentioning by name since I didn't actually receive their services) since they're closer to my new home and seemed more competitive on price and comprehensive value (i.e. pictures). Overall these guys are pretty good, and I would recommend them if you're in the city.

We called them. They came. They were punctual, polite, affable and efficient. They explained what they needed to do and proceeded to do the job. We noticed an immediate improvement in the performance of our dryer. They prepared an estimate on the repair of a minor crack in the floor of the fireplace. They did not push us to go ahead with that project but merely presented it, low key, as an option. We most likely will be calling them soon to go ahead with that as well. We consider their prices reasonable.

They were reasonable priced and they came on time. They explained what they were doing and gave me ideas on what to do in the future so that I won't even need them. They did excellent job.

Workers arrived promptly and assessed the situation. I'd had difficulty getting someone else to clear the clog because it required getting up on my very high roof. They took care of the problem promptly, tested the dryer, and advised me how to prevent it from recurring.

They cleaned up after themselves. They came when they said they were going to come. They worked quickly. They did what they said they were going to do. We were very satisfied with their work. Their price was fair.

Really great. We had been noticing some deterioration around the chimney area in our unfinished attic. Our roofer told us it looked like we needed a new liner. We called a couple of companies for estimates. It was clear from the first moment that Sol knew what he was doing. He ID'd the problem and explained why it was causing moisture to get the wood around the chimney in the attic and showed me evidence of the liner's deterioration in the basement. He gave us a couple of options for new liners and in no way pushed us to buy the most expensive one (which we did anyways because we wanted it to last). He also showed us that our chimney cap needed to be replaced as it was crumbling, which he threw in at a big discount. Sol and his crew showed up promptly on the day work was scheduled and were done in record time.

They were very thorough and when they found the problem, they made it a priority to come back and take care it.

I cannot get them to give me the results of the job with an estimate for repair costs.

These guys are excellent. They have their own cleanings supplies in their truck and clean up their mess. They are reasonably priced, professional, polite and great to work with.
