Answered the phone and just said hello didn't even mention that I was calling the business. When I asked if they could come out and provide an estimate they said they were "too busy" to come out for replacement. Must not need the business.

I contacted Reid Roofing on May 19 for an estimate on roof repairs. The scheduler made an appointment for the next day. The estimator did not show. When I called the office, a different person answered, and said that the person who made the appointment was not the official scheduler. So, he made another appointment for a couple days out. This time the estimator DID show up. He was pleasant and informative. He found an area on the roof needing repair that I was previously unaware of. He took photos, and showed me the areas needing repair, and told me verbally what type of work they would do. He promised a written estimate in two days. The estimate came a week later. I accepted their estimate, and asked for a scheduled date. "Elster Ratliff" responded that he would let me know a couple of days before they were coming -- and did not give a firm date, or even a ballpark range of dates. I asked him for a date -- didn't matter when -- because I have other things to schedule. On June 11, he responded that his crew would be at my house on June 28 between 8 and 9 AM. June 28, the crew arrived at 1 PM. They did not inform me that they would be running late. The crew leader apologized, and agreed to come back Monday June 30 at 8 AM. June 30, they arrived before 8 AM and immediately started work. They worked steadily through the day, and finished at around 4:30 PM. The crew leader took photos of the finished work. The work was neat and precise. The workers were diligent in cleaning up any construction debris. SUMMARY: This company does good work for a reasonable price, but has challenges in communicating with customers.
Description of Work: They installed breather vents on a flat roof, repaired the flashing, and tuck-pointed the front of the parapet.

The price was great but their responsiveness has lacked. They were very responsive when getting the estimates but now that we are waiting to get the work done, they haven’t been very responsive. We like them, it has just been a lack of communication.

They were pretty well referred. They were prompt and available. The person who came out and did the estimate was highly technical and gave a lot of suggestions. They were very careful in both the way they entered and exited the house from the outside. They were available to answer my phone calls through out the thing. They worked on Saturdays. They were out there long hours, and the workmanship that I saw was excellent.

We received the estimate in November 2013 - the first estimate sent my way was for someone else's project with their name and information included. After informing the person I corresponded with over email that it seemed he sent me the wrong attachment, I received the correct one. The price seemed reasonable, and the Angie's List reviews were positive, so we ended up going with them. I signed the contract and faxed it back. I received an email back saying I would hear from them a few days before they were coming out to do the job. I realize that roofing is a warm weather job, but I did not hear back from Reid Roofing for months. When the weather became warm again I sent an email (early May) to inquire about their schedule and see where we were. I got a quick response saying they might come out to do the job that coming weekend or early the next week. I responded positively with another email back and asked them to let us know so we could plan our schedules to be available and give them access to the property. No word back from them for a whole month after an email promising they would be there soon. Finally, I called and left a message asking for a call back to see what was going on. I waited a few more days without a response and called again. No response. Finally, I left a message and sent an email informing them I no longer was interested in having them begin the job and asked for a response to confirm they had received my message. I got a short, polite reply. In short - I was disappointed with the lack of communication to let me know what to expect and when. I didn't feel confident that the communication would be any better once the actual job started so I gave up on them.
Description of Work: I had someone from Reid Roofing come out to look at a roof issue and then give me an estimate. The job included patching up a portion of the roof just above the gutter that had pulled open and allowed animals in over the winter.

Local family owned and operated business. Provided quality work for fair price. Did just what we needed and didn't try to upsell. They were always available for questions or requests. New roof looks great. Owner's son (Kevin) came out to do the initial inspection and quote. Took the time to explain the process/options/etc. and they dropped off shingle samples to our door later that day.

Initial contact with Reid Roofing was prompt, professional and congenial. A review of my situation was performed with expertise and solutions were discussed in a very pleasant manner. Unfortunately, my situation was a rather minor job compared with Reid's usual roofing situations. This was not a detriment to the approach taken by Reid personnel who conducted themselves with a very professional attitude. I believe the minor nature of the work I wanted done was a deterent to finalizing the matter in a mutually cost effective way. It was a pleasure to work with Reid and I wouldn't hesitate to suggest them to others with a larger roofing problem.

later I put a message on the Angie's List message board, and waited a couple of days and received no response. On Monday, May 5th I called the number on Kevin's business card he provided me, and the next day I received a call from the office saying they must have misplaced my email. I told them I need to receive a quote no later than end of day Tuesday because I have to reply to another vendor who has provided a quote. It is now Wednesday night, May 7th, and I have received no communication. I am beginning to see a pattern with Angie's List. When a vendor receives some good reviews on Angies List they get slammed with business and do not have the resources available to perform services in an acceptable time frame. The same thing has happened with another vendor I used. They did good work at a fair price and I gave them a good review on Angie's List and paid them exactly as agreed in the fall of 2013. They came to my house for a quote but said they can only work based on time and materials. They won't give me an estimate. I could tell he was only interested in doing bigger jobs by our conversation. I am especially disappointed with Reid Roofing because they have not been responsive. If they are too busy to do my work, I wish they would just tell me that. I would respect that and find someone else.
Description of Work: On April 23d, Kevin from Reid Roofing came to my house for a quote. He was a little late, but called when he was on the way, so it was fine. I was primarily interested in having a small flat roof resurfaced, a new gutter installed and some carpentry work on the roof and flashing. Kevin climbed up on the house and did a very thorough inspection and I liked all of his ideas. Kevin asked for my email address to send along the quote. I waited a week and then sent Kevin an email to follow up on the quote. I received no response. A week

They have done some work for earlier and I wanted them to do the gutters again but since there was so much of ice they asked me to wait till they can actually do it. Last time they did a very good job. Four or five years ago they did a small part of the roof that kept leaking and they worked on it and they stopped the leakage which other people did not succeed in doing that. The reason why I use them is because I like the work they do.

Reid Roofing did an excellent job on the repairs. The seals around the cutouts on a flat roof that opened to the downspouts had cracked and the roofing material underneath had rotted away which caused water damage on a Friday night when there was an above-freezing thaw. Reid was contacted Saturday morning and were able to make it out the next day. While they were inspecting the area in question, they checked out the other drainage areas and found issues the original builder (2007 build) failed to do properly. They explained in detail what they proposed to do and why they needed to do it. The work required above-freezing temperatures to perform the work, so we had to wait before work was performed. We had a one-day window of opportunity, but did not have a confirmation for that day. It wasn't until I explained that until the repair is performed, one of the unit owners who received water damage could perform repairs to his bedroom, which he wasn't able to use for several weeks. Reed confirmed right away. The work they performed was above and beyond what was expected. They did an excellent job of repairs they quoted and even patched up a couple spots on the roof where the seal was questionable (without even being asked!) The price was right, and they've been in business for around 20 years, which for roofing seems rare. I would HIGHLY recommend Reed Roofing.

Usually hard to get responses to voicemail messages left. Knowing this, father of owner very kind on phone. Pleasant and relational owner, Kevin, came out and gave clear estimate; took quite awhile to get written estimate, but once once estimate received and accepted, date set for work and follow through was good enough. Several workers, all pleasant and worked hard, with some language barrier. They moved quickly but a bit too fast and given the misc items I had on the estimate, I followed up and they had forgotten one of the items. Finished product is hard to see, given locations, but roof looked good and window capping was great. Not the best job of clean up, but nothing to lose sleep over. Overall pleased with results and effort.
Description of Work: Misc roofing, gutter and window cap work: Installed new alum cap on 3 porch windows and on glass block window, including caulking; installed modified bitumen on roof ridge cap and sealed and did similar around chimney; tuck pointed mortar joints on chimney; did repair where plywood under roof edge pulled up and straightened out gutter with some new straps

Due to the near-record snow this winter, an ice dam had formed on one side of my roof. Another heavy snowfall was predicted, followed by a warm-up. Fearing potential damage to my roof from the ice dam, I consulted Angie's List and selected Reid Roofing. I called and talked to Kevin, who told me their 3 crews were all booked solid that day clearing ice & snow from other roofs, but that he (Kevin) would come over that afternoon to look at my roof. Kevin arrived promptly as scheduled, assessed the roof, and said they could clear my roof, gutters and downspout first thing the next day. Promptly in the morning, three men arrived at my home, and, after introducing themselves, got to work. The gutters were full of ice, and a lot of ice had also formed under the snowdrifts on the roof. They worked hard for almost 2 1/2 hours, and were able to rid my roof and gutters of the worst of the snow and ice. They did a great job, and the results gave me great peace of mind.

We purchased their roof maintenance Big Deal, and they were very prompt and professional in scheduling the visit and performing the work. They actually noticed a fairly important issue (which we had noticed but weren't sure what to do about) and took care of the problem as part of the deal. Other less professional or less honest companies may have charged for a separate visit to do that work, and we very much appreciated their honesty and pride in their work. They solved the issue completely and we have had no issues since. We will call them again if we have any additional problems with our roof.

Second time using Reid Roofing and they always perform an excellent job. Quality work and great crew. Kevin maybe a little hard to pin down on a date for doing the work because I got him at the busy part of the season due to the weather making it hard to schedule but once they started, it was a job that had a great crew, cleaned up after the job and did it at a very reasonable rate. A good company and would use them again and give Tom and his crew a "highly recommend."

I am so impressed by this provider! Kevin came to my house exactly at the time we arranged. What impressed me the most was after consulting with 6 other roofing companies, he was the only one who didn't come out and tell me that I needed a whole new roof, but not to worry, my insurance company would pay for it. Neither of those statements were true. Kevin asked me my concerns, inspected the roofing system and explained that I did not need a whole new roof, and that the needed repairs were relatively minor. Then, his crew returned later THAT SAME DAY, without so much as a deposit or contract, and fixed everything! A handshake was good enough. They are great neighbors, and honest craftspeople. I would never consider any other roofing service. An Angie's List asset. Thank you again, Reid Roofing!!!

The roof on a commercial building was leaking and could not be repaired. The roof needed to be replaced. The plan was to replace the roof and 2 HVAC units that sit on the roof. In addition, several HVAC units were to be moved so the roof could be replaced underneath all the HVAC units. Two tenants operate businesses in the building. Their business was mainly on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Therefore, completing the job Monday through Friday and being able to coordinate with the HVAC contractor were important considerations in selecting a roofing company. The roof consists of two parts: a flat section and a shingled pitched section. Both sections needed replacement. Four estimates were obtained. The lowest price estimate was from an unqualified contractor who asked for a large down payment. REID Roofing provided was the second lowest priced estimate. The estimate turned out to be in error. Additional insulating material was needed due to village rules. Although this increased the price, the estimate was still the second lowest of the four before the Angie's List discount. I was impressed that REID Roofing did not ask for a down payment. I dealt with Andy for the entire project. He told me for a smaller project, a qualified roofing company should be able to wait for payment until the project was completed and the work could be inspected. This made me feel much more comfortable using REID Roofing. The main roofing work was completed in time and the tenants were able to open for business on Friday. In order to complete the roof faster, Andy used a better roofing material at no additional charge. After the main roofing work was completed, the tenants informed me of several leaks and preferences regarding the gutters. With two contractors working at the same time, it was not always clear who was responsible for the leaks. Andy was generous with his time and efforts in remedying any reported leaks. This was true even if the cause was due to the HVAC contractor's work. His efforts were greatly appreciated. Andy sent photographs of the work performed and any issues that arose. Andy generally communicated well, returned phone calls promptly, was available on weekends and was always polite. A few minor service issues include: (1) voice messages that were not returned, (2) being told I would receive a call and not receiving the call, (3) based on tenant reports, REID Roofing may not have been on the premises at promised times, (4) the work was not always preformed when promised, but it was performed at a later time. and (5) I did not receive several calls to update me on (a) their progress, (b) if REID Roofing was visiting the jobsite or (c) if REID Roofing had performed follow-up work. The work was performed, but I did not receive the update. Considering the issues involved with the tight time-frame for the main portion of the job and the necessity of coordinating with the HVAC contractor, I was impressed with the work performed.
Description of Work: Replacement of shingled pitched roof and flat roof. Based on the estimate and paid invoices received from REID Roofing, the following was performed: All old roofing materials on the entire main roof was removed and disposed of into a dumpster supplied by REID Roofing. Damaged wood decking and 2x6 rafter on the west side middle flat section was removed and new 2x6 rafter and plywood sheeting (32 square feet) was installed. 30lb felt paper was installed to cover the remaining exposed decking. Installed 3 1/3 inch Isocyanurate roof insulation over all flat sections, installing the 60mm TPO single ply roof system on the flat section, flashing all roof protrusions on the flat section with TPO flashing membrane. Custom galvanized gutter and down spouts were installed and secured properly on the flat section in the back. Galvanized pitch pans were installed around all A/C supply lines. Ice and water shield was installed on all rake edges and protrusions on the sloped section. Installed new GAF Timberline shingle system on the sloped section.
