Everything was good! Only thing I will say is that he failed to remove his shoes when walking on my rug and carpet in basement. Luckily it wasn't raining or snowing. But if that was the case I would have had him remove them. But I think it's a good practice to always remove them or wear booties. But not a huge deal. I am pretty satisfied with the service.

I moved into my home about 6 months ago. I went to turn the furnace on for the first time this season and zip. There was nothing. I called Reeder Heating & Cooling immediately, and Mr. Gene Floss sent someone out the next morning. The service technician came out to troubleshoot the problem with my furnace, he was very nice and explained everything he was doing. He narrowed the problem down to a small ignition board. It turns out the furnace manufacturer no longer exists and parts are no longer made. Therefore my only option was a whole new furnace. Mr. Floss called me and apologized for my situation. He gave me a great deal on a new furnace and humidifier, they came out 2 days later and installed it. The install team was the best. They had the old furnace and humidifier out and the new ones installed in under 4 hours. This company is great. They did everything they could to find a store that sold the faulty part on my original furnace. When that didn't pan out, they called and gave me a great price on a new furnace / humidifier, installed. I would definitely use Reeder again and I highly recommend them to anyone needing heating / cooling service.

The water heater (GE Power Vent Model) in our condo just stopped heating the water out of the blue. Fortunately, the unit is about 4 years old is and still under the manufacturer?s warranty for parts. After troubleshooting the problem with GE over the phone, GE determined that the gas thermostat and assembly burner unit needed to be replaced. In lieu of doing the work ourselves, we decided to have a professional technician come out and install the parts. The company that we previously used no longer service water heaters, so we asked GE to recommend companies in our area that can do the work. GE recommended three companies including Reeder Heating and Cooling, Inc. After calling each company that GE recommended for a price quote, and researching reviews online we found that Reeder is the only company that is on Angie?s List. The high ratings on Angie?s List and comparable price quote were the deciding factor to go with Reeder. I?m always leery of maintenance and repair companies because of bad past experiences. However, Reeder exceeded my expectations. From the time that we called Reeder to get a quote and to schedule service they were highly professional. The Customer Service Rep was strait forward in quoting a price for the labor costs to install the parts, and they were able to send someone out the following day. Tim, who was our service technician arrived on time as scheduled, installed the parts in a timely manner and didn?t make any further outlandish recommendations that would cost us more money. So far, so good the water heater is working like a champ. I can see why Reeder?s ratings are so high on Angie?s List, and I highly recommend them as well.

The person fielding the phone calls coupled with the fact that they use a call service number makes their scheduling process horrible. You have to wait around to for them to contact someone in the field, wait for the field personnel to return that call and than they call you. Horrible and inefficient process. Was told by Reeder they couldn't come out Saturday but would come out Monday. When I called Monday it was like what are you talking about?? We can't have anyone out there until Wednesday. Using the excuse of a" holiday" it's the first, not the fourth of July. Apparently there is only one person in the company that can service water heaters. Congrats Joel. This place provided better service when on 63rd but now that they moved out of the neighborhood they have forgot what gave them their former reputation.. Advice to Reeder update your scheduling process and lose the scheduler with the poor customer service skills. 5 days to perform a simple service call is unacceptable.
Description of Work: Called to have them service a tank less water heater they serviced in the past and after the horrible service and run around cancelled the service.

The service was good. It was the first time I used them. When I received the bill I questioned the initial fee; I felt it was high. I asked if it was the distance but they said no it was what they charged. Overall it was fine, and my tenants were happy.

I called Reeder on Tues. Sept. 18 and talked with Glen. I explained that I wanted a Rheem water heater, the same as I had previously. A 40 gallon water heater. Also, I asked to have someone who was experienced in checking out the boiler. I called Reeder because I had a coupon mailed to me. I paid $900 for the new water heater and installation/labor and $50 (special rate) for checking out the boiler. An appointment time was made for "about 9 AM" on Wed. Sept. 19. The guys came around 9:30 AM. There were two guys. The older guy was Joe (he has 25 years experience) and a young guy. They emptied the water heater (used our garden hose) because from the heater to the drain in the basement floor was about 35-40 feet. The guys took the old heater out and bought the new Rheem heater in with their own dolly and up/down a flight of stairs to the basement. After the new Rheem was installed, Joe left with the young guy to drop him off at another job and besides the new water heater needed to warm up. Joe was back in about 15-20 minutes. He checked that the water was hot to the sinks etc... He then checked the boiler and said there was air buildup (we had not had it checked in a few years) so he flushed out the air/water from the boiler tank. You could hear the air sputter the water out. All good. The whole thing (water heater installation and boiler check) took about 2.5 to 3 hours. Joe explained that when I first turn a knob on after the water heater was installed the will be an initial sputter so turn on the water slowly the first time. Joe answered some other questions I had. Clean up was good. He pointed out where there was a little water for us to clean up. I paid by check, got my receipts. All good. Good experience. I would use these guys again.
Description of Work: Needed a new water heater and needed some one to check on the boiler (furnace) and give it a cleaning if needed.

I see I'm not the only one who had a similar horrible experience. Our A/C went out on Thursday so we called our home warranty who assigned us Reeder for the job and we were told they'd call us to schedule an appointment. We called Friday morning after not hearing anything and were told they were going to show up between 11 and 3pm that day. We thought it was weird they never called us to schedule but were happy they'd be showing up. No one had arrived by 3pm or called to notify us they were late. We called them after 3pm and they said, yes we were on the schedule and they'd be coming that day. We called successively at 5pm and 7pm and each time were given a very rude response from Michelle and told they were coming. We left the house around 8 pm to go get in a/c as it was over 90 degrees in our house and it was apparent they weren't going to show. A call would have been nice as they definitely didn't show on Friday. Saturday was a repeat of Friday. Us calling them. Michelle telling us they'll call us back and never doing it. Us following up and getting a rude and frustrated response from Michelle that they'll be there on Saturday. Again, Saturday they never showed and never called us to say they wouldn't show. Finally when we called at 7 pm on Saturday night they let us know that no one would be there. They finally fixed the A/C on Monday. It was an easy fix and the guy was in and out in less than an hour. I have never experienced such horrible customer service. I understand we were needing our A/C fixed at a busy time for them (after a heat wave) but don't say you're going to call and never call. Don't say you're going to show and not show. If you're going to be late, call the client and let them know. If you're not going to show, call the client and let them know. Simple communication can go a long way and Reeder just didn't know the first thing about it. I would not recommend this company and you can see from other similar reviews this wasn't a one-time experience.

They said they’d be here between 8 & 10 & were here 9:55. It took about as long as they said it would - about 3 hours. They did a big job well. They also gave us a discount as an Angie’s List member. They did quality & were very responsive. We are very, very satisfied!
Description of Work: They removed our old water heater & replaced it with a new one on an emergency call. Today is a Saturday - Other companies couldn't get out until Monday. The cost covered emergency call, purchase of the heater, & labor. Without the Angie's List discount it would've been about $1400.00.

We were told the repairmen would show before 1000, however they didn't arrive until after 1115 or so. Traffic. They did call and advise that they would be a bit late, but not until after 1000.. Otherwise, the installers Joel and his associate, did a very neat job,They were careful not to do any damage as the heater was in a very tight spot in the basement. It worked out fine. Overall the time was less than 4 hours, including the transit time to and from the store to do the exchange.
Description of Work: I had a water heater spring a leak Monday PM. The unit was still under warranty so my wife called the manufacturer and eventually got ahold of REEDER. They do a lot of warranty work and agreed to remove the old unit, take it to the store and exchange it for a new one then install it.

I had a tenant call about her heating being inoperable. I called Reeder and got a human being on the phone right away. I was told the service call alone would be $89.95 which I initially thought was expensive but I found that was the going rate for service calls. I called around 4:30pm and they came, they fixed, and took a my credit card payment over the phone by 7:00pm. Very convenient for me. Dave (I think) originally quoted me $115.00 and I mentioned the Angie's List discount and was charged $100 even though the discount was supposed to be for parts. $15 isn't much but it was better than nothing at all. I would hire Reeder again.

Gene is a very friendly guy, seemed to have alot of experience and owns Reeder Heating and Cooling. He went through the whole house checking the condition of the furnace, AC, humidifier, duct work etc. Our house has always had hot and cold spots.Gene told me that this was because the duct work was never properly modified to deliver the proper air flow to each room when previous additions were made to the house. I already had been told by other companies before that the furnace needed to be replaced and it had a number of repairs in the past to keep limping along. This was the first time anyone diagnosed the duct work as being part of the problem. I decided to change the whole system ( furnace and AC) and have the modifications made and insulation added to the duct work. Three technicians showed as scheduled up to perform the work which took 1 1/2 days. The were well organized and friendly. They put down drop cloths to protect the rugs and hardwood floors. The work went smoothly was finished on time. I would have no problem recommending Gene and his crew to a friend.

They were local and they had previous reviews. They had a quick turnaround in terms of the work they did. The only complaint I had was they finished the job, but they didn't really make sure it was working completely before they left. They made sure the unit was running, but they didn't make sure the heat was getting throughout the whole house. We didn't have heat for nearly 2 or 3 days after we had it; so we had to call for service and wait about 2 or 3 days to have someone come out and get things done. They were prompt in doing that, but I would have preferred that it was a one shot deal. They asked me to give it time, and we did give it time they said. We even walked the house for the night and even went out for a movie just to let things heat up. When we came back, the house was still freezing. I don't think they really confirmed that the heat was properly working throughout the house. They just confirmed that the unit was pushing as there was a boiler unit. They just confirmed that the boiler unit was pushing warm water through the base. They didn't really clean up to bother afterwards. They were quick to respond.

The annual maintenance visit was on time, with good pricing and apparently good work. However, it was a different story when we used them for actual repairs. They came on time but repeatedly had to come back "because they didn't have the parts" - of course we were charged for each visit. In addition, they replaced BOTH of the very expensive gas valves on the unit in an effort to rectify the problem. I was later informed by two other contractors that the likelihood of both of those valves failing simultaneously is virtuously nil. Our best guess is that they were randomly replacing things in an effort to "fix" the issue. It turned out that the water refill valve that they installed to "fix" the issue was installed above the cut-off, so it never tripped. It was also installed backwards and it was adjusted in a way to void the item's warranty. And lastly they replaced the timer but never actually installed any of the switches to activate it! I ended up doing that myself 2 days later when I discovered the problem. In the end we paid for the timer but not for the install because they didn't finish it. We refused to pay for either installation or parts for the incorrectly installed valve - we had it removed by our next contractor and returned the part to Reeder. We did pay for the valve replacements, as we couldn't actually prove that they weren't needed. All in all, we were very dissatisfied with the service we received from Reeder.
Description of Work: My condo association hired them to do annual maintenance on our boiler and then went back to them for some emergency repairs between November 2009 and January 2010.

I used their services quite a bit and they were pretty good for one house I owned. They came out to check my air conditioning system in my second house and that didn?t turn out very well but they did return my money for the service call. So there was a complete misdiagnosis. They told me that I needed a whole new unit when all I needed was just to get a small part fixed. The problem hasn?t yet been resolved. They did a fine job when they came out to fix my heating system in another building of mine. Their professionalism wasn?t that good. I wouldn?t consider using their services again for air conditioning work.

We knew the a/c wasn't working for some time, but took advantage of the cool weather to procrastinate and do research. I'm physically disabled with respiratory issues. Of course, the first 80 degree day hit on a Sunday. Although I'd been perusing AL, I grew up in the area and just wasn't happy with some of the 'A' list vendors. Apparently, I'd overlooked Reeder all those other times, but this day, Reeder popped right out. Practically down the street, I remembered driving past Reeder in my comings and goings throughout my life, so I called. The AL listed phone number gets you one Dave Barry, Reeder's service manager. He patiently and carefully listened to the situation and said he'd be at our house in an hour. He also stated the service call was 89.99--standard rate. No extra charge for Sunday or emergency. He was right on time. After asking some questions, Dave inspected the a/c, detecting the hole from which the coolant leaked. Irreparable. The unit had to be replaced. Dave was so sensitive to my breathing issues, he thought he could do the job that afternoon--a SUNDAY!! My husband and I planned on replacing our 24 year-old furnace and and an even older hot water heater later in the year, so we decided to do it with the a/c. We wanted an integrated system anyway. I aready knew that a 'package' was less costly, so Dave figured both ways. Yup. There was a big difference. Adding in the HUGE Angie's List discount made this incredibly affordable. Had I been a senior, an additional 5% discount would apply. Further, Reeder carries a number of brands. Dave suggested Goodman, which is entirely American made--in Houston, no less. Big sales point for us. Due to the urgency of the a/c, Dave arranged the install for Monday, delivering the compressor that afternoon with the installer arriving at 9 AM Monday Everything went exactly as promised. Javier brought the a/c Sunday afternoon and removed the old one. He arrived EXACTLY at 9 AM, working diligently without a break until 2:30 PM. We run an online secondhand store, so our basement is packed with inventory. Javier was respectful of our things. We're absolutely satisfied with the Reeder experience. That the service manager is accessible after hours indicates how seriously the company takes its business. Additionally, the availability of competent installers on a SUNDAY, demonstrates a level of customer service I've not found with other HVAC companies in the area. This company, in our experience, is entirely reliable. I would trust them with seniors for a fair deal and worry-free, courteous service. We would use Reeder again.

They called promptly and set up an appointment for the following morning. That day at 10:30 they had still not come so I called and checked on status. I was told I was next in line. Not sure how long it would be but they would call when he was on his way out. I called again at 12:30, 1:30 and 2:56 - same story. Each time I was told they could not(meaning would not) contact the repair person, but they were sure that he was coming. I was next in line. Then I called the warrantee folks who called Reeder and got the same story and a commitment that someone would be out today. At 5:30 I called again and was told no one was coming. they had no idea why he had not come and instead had gone home, but no one was coming and they were not going to send anyone else or make him come back in and complete the job he had failed to do. The only thing they could offer was having someone come out another day which would mean that I had to take another day off of work.

Response from REEDER HEATING & COOLING INC.
This customer was scheduled for service on the date indicated. Unfortunately, the service calls that preceded her appointment required more time than anticipated. This sometimes happens in the heating/air conditioning service business. We offered that we would make her appointment as the first call the following morning. We try our best to get to each customer as quickly as possible. In view of the circumstances here, in order to make it up to her we would be willing to give her a free clean and check on her furnace or central air conditioning system at her convenience. We are trying to make satisfied customers, not unsatisfied homeowners.

The gentleman came, measured, discussed options and gave a free estimate. My mom wanted the water heater to be raised on a cement/brick platform, and he provided a that, too. Just two days later, the old water heater was dismantled, and the new one installed. The laundry room was left spotless. High kudos for professionalism, politeness, cleanliness, and overall just wonderfully nice guys. Price was very fair.
Description of Work: A new water heater was needed.
