It was through our home warranty, so there was only a flat fee. They were just trying to get more money out of me. The worker was fine.
Description of Work: He fixed the leaks on the air conditioner condenser. Apparently, one of the piping was clogged, so he cleaned it out. Then, he put Freon in.

Because the problem happened on a Sunday (Monday was a holiday), I looked online to see if they offered emergency service. It said they did, so I called to see if I could pay the difference from what the warranty would pay to get someone out on Monday (holiday). The customer service rep I spoke to was very nice and said she would have to transfer me to someone. I was transferred to Michelle, who was in her car and sounded very annoyed to be speaking to me. Ok, it's a holiday weekend, I get it. She said if we had someone come out on the holiday, our warranty would not cover the service at all. I asked then if she could tell me if they would be able to send someone out on Tuesday, so I could know if I should take off work. She said (rudely) that she did not have the schedule in front of her and would not be available until 10 am on Tuesday, but since the order was already placed through the warranty company, I would be on her list to call. By Tuesday noon I hadn't received a call, so I called Reeder. They scheduled someone to come out the next day. The technician arrived on time and was nice enough. However, he told me that the problem may be one of two things: a simple fix, or a dirty filter of some kind that my warranty wouldn't cover. It ended up being the simple fix, but I also know for a fact the warranty would cover the other issue. What if I'd believed him and ended up paying them for that other issue? So he fixes it and leaves. There is glorious cool air again. Four hours later, at 4:30 pm, I go downstairs. Not only was our utility room light left on, the door open, and dirt was everywhere, but there is water covering the entire floor. I shut off the system and called Reeder immediately and was told they would send the tech back immediately. By 5:30, he hadn't shown up and no one had called me, so I called again. They said the same thing, they would send him back. I finally receive a call back from Michelle, who says that I have to call the home warranty company and have them issue a service recall before she can send the tech back out. "Even though your guy caused the problem?" I asked. She said she had no way of knowing that he caused the problem. We argued for a bit and I finally hung up in frustration. Keep in mind this was at 5:30 pm, when I'm sure everyone wanted to go home. I went back downstairs to clean up all the water, and noticed that the drain pipe that drains the condensation from the ac was totally dislodged. Not just loose, not even connected. The tech had not reconnected the pipe. I was glad that this was an easy fix, but upset that his mistake could have caused significantly more damage to my home. The next morning, while getting ready for work, our doorbell rings. It's the tech from Reeder. I informed him that I had not authorized anyone to come back out, and that I had fixed the problem anyway. Keep in mind, 1. I had not called my home warranty company, as Michelle said I had to do before could dispatch someone, and 2. It is very likely that no one would have even been home when he arrived, since we had no idea he was coming. We received a call from Michelle a few minutes later. My husband asked her how she could send the tech out when we hadn't called the warranty company? "I was trying to be proactive, sir." So you can be proactive at 8am, but not at 5:30 pm? He then informed her that the tech had definitely caused the issue and that we would be complaining about them to our warranty company.
Description of Work: Our air conditioner broke down over the July 4th weekend. We called our home warranty company, who assigned Reeder.

They were absolutely fine. They could have been a little bit quicker to come out and do the work. There was no price gouging or anything of that nature. Once we got them going they were here, but it took a little while to get them in gear, that's all. They were no problem with professionalism. I will use them again in the future because I know they have improved their quality plus they fact they are in the Angie's List book and we trust their list.

He was pretty quick and responsive. We had two units in the building. They never came back to finish the second service and I never got a receipt for the charges that were given to me. That was one of the disappointing things there. I’m having issues with the system again, so I might have it serviced by someone else now. They should follow-up and follow through with their customer.

Avoid Reeder Heating & Cooling. We hired this company to install a humidification system in the home of one of our clients. Not even a month after the unit was installed, it began to leak from the water feed. After several attempts to contact Reeder, we finally were able to inform them of the problem. They did come out and add a tray to catch the water, but it was not sealed. For weeks we called, trying get a proper solution for the problem, no one ever answered the phone or responded to the multiple messages that we left for them. Eventually we were finally able to get in touch with the owner of the company; he took care of things right away. Then our clients called us to say that the humidifier was making a lot of noise. We were told by Reeder that the problems we were having were related to a bad motor. They were unwilling to change out the motor and told us to contact the manufacturer directly. We ended up hiring someone else to remedy the job Reeder refused to fix. The new vendor took care of the problem like a pro although we had to pay an additional $468.00. Customer service at Reeder is atrocious and they are not very knowledgeable about their own trade. WE WILL NEVER USE THEM AGAIN. Project Manager: F.B.

May I ask what number you were calling for weeks, we have a 24 hour answering service and there is not one message from you. Also, the last time we were out in December, at that time there was no noise and had said if it returned to please call us, as of that date we have no e-mails, no phone calls or no messages. Please call us as soon as possible to straighten this out, we do not ignore phone calls and as you have mentioned the owner is more than willing to make things happen, so I do not know what has happened but would like to straighten it out as to who was called and what happened, we never condemned the motor and we would never tell a customer for them to contact the manufacturer. Please call us as soon as possible at 773-767-7100

I found Reeder on Angies list. After reading the reviews and checking better business bureau, I decided to call them and have them come out and give me an estimate. I was impressed from the very first phone call I made to set up the appointment. Dave the salesman called me and was very thorough in explaining everything. When he showed me what was wrong with the boiler (leaking carbon monoxide) I knew I needed to replace the 37 yr old dinosaur. He then counted all the radiators I had and measured for the size I would need and gave me a very detailed estimate. I did receive to more estimates and one was very comparable to Reeder. I called Dave to ask him a few more questions before I made my decision. The fact that he returned my call so quickly and was more than happy to answer my questions made me choose them to do the install. The installer Alex and his helper did a great job and were very personable and also answered any questions I had as they were doing the work. Dave came out after the work was completed to do a final inspection. I did notice that the boiler seemed to be running frequently the next day so I called Dave and he came out very quickly to diagnose a probable faulty thermostat and it was replaced. He even called a few days late to see how everything was running. I would call that GREAT customer service. I won't hesitate to call them in the future for all my heating needs. I know they will be there when I need them!!!

My furnace went out late on a very cold afternoon. I called Reeder and the technician called back promptly to ask about the problem. Over the phone he walked me through a temporary fix to get the heating restored, and then showed up first thing the following morning with the required part (a new damper) to solve the problem. His actions got my heat going again, saved me the cost of an after-hours visit, enabled him to get the right part (which he would not have been able to do after hours), and restored the whole system to working order with very little interruption of service. This not only kept me warm, but also my tenants, a family with small children. Kudos for quality service.

Did not end up proceeding with work (with any contractor), but would have used Reeder. I was very impressed by the time and effort they took walk me through all the considerations and insure I was making an informed decision about my HVAC. This was even after I was upfront about the fact that I was using their estimate as part of closing credit negotiations and not likely to proceed with work in the near future. After speaking with 3-4 firms, they were the ones who stood out as likely to provide quality customer service. If/when my AC goes out, I'll give these guys a call.

Was able to get an appointment on one of my requested dates. They contacted me promptly after my purchase from Angie's List.Re contacted me the day before the scheduled services and informed me of the name and the time the technican would be at my home. The tech called the following morning and confirmed his appointment. As soon as he arrived he proceeded to check out the air conditioning and the furnance. He was able to unclog the drain pipe and discovered that I had a slow leak in the Freon, He added a pound of Freon which cost an extra 95.00 dollars. Because of the age of my heating and air conditioning he gave my some sound advice on how to get the best out of the system until I was ready to replace it. When that time comes I will definitely check with Reeeder first.

Michelle at the office coordinated all of our AC checks over a 3 day period. Bryan worked efficiently and clean, and was very courteous during a long 3 days! He let me know the status of each unit, and gave me the pricing on additional freon that was needed in a few units and part replacement for one unit. Our tenants (and my family) could not be happier with the job. We know we are set for the summer, as everything is running in perfect condition. When I have any heating or cooling issue- Reeder is my first call!

Overall Reeder did a good job. They were courteous and prompt, and had a good understanding of what needed to be done to get my property to meet code. This was unlike some places I spoke with who seemed to have no idea what was required. The installation was done on the day scheduled and they were able to make an appointment within a reasonable time frame after I called. Reeder actually had a great suggestion to meet code that would look better than what an inspector suggested. I inquired to make sure it would still be acceptable, and it was. Cosmetically it had a better appearance and I appreciated their expertise to be able to make such a suggestion. The only drawback, and a minor one, was that they gave me an approximate range (within $300) of what it would cost because they had not seen the workspace at that point. I figured the ultimate cost would be at the high end of the range, and of course it was. Still, it would have been nice to be surprised and to have it come in at the low end. After the work my place passed inspection and met code. I was happy with Reeder's service.

They arrived a tiny bit outside the time frame given, but I understand that in this profession, that's to be expected. They installed the water heater quickly and efficiently. Both gentlemen were professional and friendly. They both took care not to track snow and water on my wood floors, which I really appreciated. Everything that was moved was put back to where they found it; little things, I know, but much appreciated. The bottom line is that my water heater was installed without any complications. I plan on calling them again for some plumbing work in my bathroom.

He was on time and very responsive to questions. Explained several things and did not rush through the checks. He found an issue with one element being bad, explained it thoroughly, and gave a quote of what it would cost to return at a future date to fix (as a part had to be ordered). When setting up the appointment for the fix, I asked for the same tech as he had been so thorough and responsive and was accommodated in that request. The work on the second visit was completed quickly and the tech showed up on time. The cost of the repair was less than quoted. The approximate cost of service above includes the deal purchased to perform the check and the second visit to repair the bad element in our furnace.
Description of Work: The tech came and performed the checks on the furnace through a special deal we had purchased on Angie's list. He also returned on another date to make a repair of a bad element that was found during that check.

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!! (These three exclamation points are warranted) I was reading the reviews on Angie's List and the first company I called was Four Season's it sounded like a big call center picked up and a professional sales person got all the buzz words right. I was thinking they have a ton of reviews but they are so big, I thought they may invest more in sales than in their technicians so I kept looking. I called Reeder Heating and Cooling and a nice lady who was clearly in touch with her technicians and aware of where they were and how long they would be answered the phone. Rather than the pressure to buy, she was honestly concerned that my heat was out with the temperature being so cold. She told me all the pricing information she could up front and she told me about a 10% Angie's List discount which I had not noticed. She guaranteed she could get someone to me the same day and she also gave me follow-up calls to let me when I could expect the technician. Bryan, the technician, came to look at my furnace. I felt incredibly lucky that he came, watching him trouble-shoot the problem gave me complete confidence in his abilities. I think he has over 20 years experience in the industry and I truly benefited from that. Bryan was able to read subtle signs and systematically investigate the issue. Bryan discovered a plugged drain cycle system, and instead of making me wait for replacement parts and suffer a cold home, he was able to improvise and clean and fix the problem on the spot! I know his thoroughness saved me hundreds of dollars. My heat is now working better than ever. I will definitely be recommending Reeder Heating and Cooling to my friends and family. It is a company that has highly trained technicians who are professional and truly care about the work they do and the people they help. Bryan was even thoughtful enough to protect the floors and leave his work area clean. As he was leaving my house even though it was a Friday evening after 5 the day before Valentine's day I heard him on the phone volunteering to take another job that night.

Had not had cleaning of the furnace since 2012. On time, professional, explained what he was doing after I asked. Nice. Gene came to our home to look at the old system and provide a quote on a new one. He took time to explain what needed to be done and the products that would be used. After comparing quotes we decideD on Reeder. The removal of the old system and the installation of the new one was an all day project for three workers. They were hard working and polite and did a great job installng the new boiler system.
Description of Work: We had a new boiler, pump, pipes, and thermostat, installed to replace the hundred year old monster of a cast iron coal heater which had been converted to oil first and then converted to gas in the mid-fifties. Reeder did a very professional job from Gene who arrived to provide the quote to the crew which removed the old system and installed the new one taking care to do everything properly. We are very happy with our new boiler and I would definitely use Reeder in the future and recommend them to others.

I had done research on other companies installing tankless water heaters and Reeder seemed the most reasonable and had good reviews. Prior to the work being done I had exchanged emails with their office so all details on the project were identified with cost estimates. The installer, Joel, along with his assistant showed up right on time and proceeded to have no problem removing the old heater and installing the new venting and heater. They also did some minor mortaring around the new venting as previously agreed. As an added bonus, I discovered at the last minute that Reeder offered a 17% discount to Angie's List members. I called the office when the workers were here and they agreed to lower their estimate by the advertised discount. That bonus paid for several years of Angie's List membership! In summary, I was quite pleased with the workmanship and customer service of Reeder and would not hesitate to recommend them to others or use them in the future.
Description of Work: Removed an existing tankless water heater and replaced it with a new one I had purchased. They also installed new venting.
