The experience was excellent. Scott was professional and on time. He came out and tested our attic to see if mold was present. Small sticky strips were applied in several places on the wood in the attic. The strips were then sent to a lab for analysis and we discovered there were three types of mold present. Scott also tested the attic wood to see how dry it was so we could tell there was no more moisture getting in. Our attic became wet as water got in through the old roof that was replaced three years ago. We bought our house a couple months back knowing there could be a mold issue. Scott and one other workman came out and did a fantastic job. Took a day and a half. Scott was very up front about what to expect and communication was top notch. One of the best things about the whole experience was that Scott didn't tell you what you wanted to hear but instead what you needed to hear about all aspects of the remediation process and what this means for you. For example if you have mold, your first step should be to find out what caused the mold (water leaking in for example) and make sure you get this fixed first before getting rid of the mold. You don't want to get rid of the mold only to have it come back if you still have a leak. Scott helped us think all of this through. While in the process of selling our house the buyers conducted an inspection prior to the closing of the sale. The inspection report indicated areas of suspected mold in our attic. The buyers required that action be taken to remove all mold prior to the sale. Being members of Angie's List, we searched for a recommended "mold remediation" company. PuroClean was found to have an extremely high rating and in response we contacted Mr. Scott Majeski on 10/07/2010. Mr. Majeski promptly responded the following day and conducted a visual inspection of the suspected mold area, which was followed up with a preliminary testing of the area with a "Serum 1000" cleaning agent used in the detection of mold. The spray testing proved negative for mold and Mr. Majeski indicated same with a followed up written report explaining in great detail exactly what his actions were and what resulted from same. The report provided by Mr. Majeski was provided to our lawyer and passed on to the lawyer representing the buyers. The mold issue was subsequently put to rest. It should be noted that Mr. Majeski could have easily made a false claim of mold being present and recommended his company conduct a costly clean up charging us for unnecessary work. Mr. Majeski's honestly in this matter is to be highly recognized. As a customer of the PuroClean Company, I could not have been anymore pleased in their service and would "highly" recommend them to anyone seeking assistance in mold remediation services.

They did more than one test. I found them to be highly consultative. The person who we dealt with showed up right away. We didn?t have to schedule and I could have him come out to check. I didn?t get the test results back when I wanted.

We were flooded twice with the July rains. The first time being 2 days before I was preparing to leave the country and the second time on the night I returned. Scott was incredibly responsive both times and handled all interactions with the insurance company and adjuster with great professionalism. While I originally thought I would have to postpone my departure, Scott responded immediately, finished the remediation prior to me leaving and handled everything else long distance. His customer service was outstanding and each time did great work - on time, clean, professional, no gaps in communication. I highly recommend Scott and his team.

Great. Very professional, knowledgeable team. In the end, though, we did a lot of the clean up ourselves because it was too expensive to have the professionals to everything.

Consummate professional! Responsive, friendly and honest. Scott reviewed the water damaged area that I called about. He determined that although the area probably had some mold, it was a serious enough problem that it required professional remediation. He was very helpful in describing how the problem came about and offered some ideas on how to manage it from getting worse I was so impressed with Scott's honesty and professionalism. I'd hire him in a second and would happily refer to him to others.

Scott arrived within 30 minutes of calling and was able to begin work immediately. After cleaning, he came back each day to check on moisture levels. Extrememly professional and also a nice person. Would definitely call again (though hopefully wouldn't have to!)

We contacted Scott. He was quite accommodating of our schedule. He was able to meet in the evening and took the time to explain to us what mold is and what it isn't and that most of the time it's not an issue. He spent time educating us and informed us that we likely didn't need his services given his observation of the property. We wanted to be sure and he kindly obliged. About a week later he got back to us w/ the results of the air and surface tests which confirmed our hunches. Scott suggested a few ways we could proceed and through the whole process was supportive and informative. Quite refreshing. It's nice to work with someone who is more focused on helping the prospect than billing the client.

Education. Learning. Well informed. Scott knows what he is doing and spent extra time describing what I was looking at and why it is not mold. He also called another provider and further helped me. If you think you have mold in your Chicago basement. Call Scott. He can perform a simple test and give you his expert opinion. He was on-time and called me back.

We became incredibly alarmed when we noticed our leaky door was sprouting some mold from the carpet below it. Disgusting, I know. Immediately, we contacted Scott at PuroClean. He contacted us back, and we scheduled an appointment for several days later. Scott arrived promptly when he said he would. After inspecting our problem and taking a few diagnostic measurements, he said to watch for mold coming out of the drywall as either a water spot or as white powdery mold. He assured us that if there was no mold in there, we'd be better off just keeping it quarantined in the drywall then to go busting open walls searching for it. "Let sleeping dogs lie." He could have pressed us to have work done, but he gave us his honest opinion for how we could save money. As we're in the middle of many, many home improvement projects at the moment, this was a much appreciated courtesy. He also gave us some ideas to take care of the problem ourselves. Rip out the carpet, disinfect with Lysol, and we're good to go. It gets better. Two days later, he sent us a follow-up email with a recommendation to his dehumidifier of choice. He just went above and beyond, which was notable especially because he didn't make a penny off of us. The experience made me think PuroClean has the customers' best interest at heart and makes recommendations based on what will work best for them -- even if it means the company doesn't make a dime.

I came back from a long vacation and when I opened some of the kitchen cabinets, I was bothered by an unpleasant smell that I feared might be mold behind the cabinet walls. I called Scott late on a Wednesday afternoon and he arranged to come the very next morning. He arrived promptly and determined that there was no mold. The wood (pine) inside the cabinets just smelled strongly, perhaps from having been closed so long. I was glad that I happened to choose Scott's mold remediation company from Angie's List and that he was honest in his assessment, because someone unscrupulous could have told me it was indeed mold, and I would not have hesitated to have the cabinets ripped out to get at it. Scott saved me a lot of trouble and money.

Due to flooding in our basement from storm and sewer water our insurance company instructed us to get proffesional restoration. We were able to contact Scott and he was here the same day because he was already working in the neighborhood. He evaluated the damage and explained the process along with what epuipment would be needed to do the job. No estimate was offered at the time because we did have insurance to cover the work. Normally we get multiple estimates for reapairs, but this was an emergency situation. Work started the next day with epuipment being brought in to dry out the area. After the area was dried out clean up started and a small crew went to work. Scott explained that insurance companies vary on what's covered and what is not. For example, the hepa filtering machine he uses is not always covered but he was not going to charge us for usage, which we appreciated. Our insurance company did cover the machine. When the adjuster was finished with the estimate of the damages he handed a copy to me and Scott which I thought was odd. Being that at the time we still had not recieved an estimate from him. We had sustained other damage from the storm and the estimate was combined. When we finally got our price from Scott for the service, it was beyond the price of what was given for the work. So, we had to haggle the price to where we both came to an agreement. In the future if such an occassion happens, I will get the estimate immediately. Lesson learned. Other than the pricing problem, Scott was very pleasant to work with. His crew was mostly thorough,polite and got the work done in a timely manner.

I would highly recommend Scott Majeski's PuroClean service. Response was prompt, communication throughout the process was proactive and clear, and the overall experience was very good. A flooded basement is a challenging experience, but Scott's work addressed the flooding and his approach made the process less stressful.

I had purchased a new property that had extensive mold and water damage. Scott and guys came out and did a great job removing the mold and repairing the water damage. He also showed me what would have to be sealed and closed to keep the water and mold from returning. I was very happy and would use them again. They were on time worked quickly and cleaned up after themselves.

It went perfectly. Having your basement flood is a stressful time. Mr. Majeski's sense of calm and comfort made me rest assured that all would be well. He took care to utilize drop cloths and left no trace behind. His examination for mold was thorough and I felt confident he handled the job exceptionally. He showed up exactly on time each time he came, and sent me emails every night with updates on the project and the process. He was comfortable speaking with my insurance company. He was easy to reach when I had any questions, which is rare in the service community (in my opinion). His communication skills are top notch, and it's clear he is an educated person. We would highly recommend Scott. He is professional in the way he conducts his business. His communication was top notch throughout the project. He was there when he said he would be there. Having worked with numerous service professionals over the years, Scott set a new standard. We would recommend his services to anyone that should be unfortunate enough to end up in our situation. I marked the price as good rather than excellent as I don't have anything to compare it against. Once I spoke with Scott I knew we had found the person that could help us. Therefore I did not contact other companies or ask for other quotes.

Scott gave me the lowest estimate. Even more important I have asthma and he listened to my concerns about the remediation not making my asthma worse. He sent me the specs on the disinfectant he would be using and he even suggested a second air scrubber be used in the residence itself. Neither of the other two companies that I got quotes from were sensitive to my particular needs. The crew arrived promptly. I had cleaned out most of the basement and what remained, I put in plastic bins. They removed the bins, cleaned out the basement, and then washed down the bins before replacing them. Scott showed up at the beginning and end of the job just to make sure that his staff was doing a proper job. My house is healthy again thanks to Scott and his team. A great job!

Scott was extremely professional. Shortly after finding him (on Angie's List), he immediately responded to my call and suggested a mutually convenient evening when he could look at the job. He quickly analyzed what he thought the problem was (bad odor emitting from our basement where we had previously had some standing water) and presented a couple reasonable options, including mold testing, cleaning or removal of damaged materials. We opted for the more aggressive approach - cleaning and removal. We booked a date, he arrived when he said he would, performed the work agreed upon, cleaned up and sent a follow up thank you and customer survey. In addition to the quality of his work, I appreciated Scott's honesty and lack of "hard sell". For example, when reviewing the project, he noticed some standing water under our old water heater. He advised that we should get it looked at, and likely, replaced. Where some service providers would have added that task to their job and found a "plumber friend" to complete, Scott was very careful to maintain his objective professionalism, limiting his scope to what he knows and does best. He's very honest.

The experience was terrific. He was 110 % above & beyond, very thorough and very knowledgeable as well.

I came home from work one day and noticed a lot of water in the kitchen and it was running down the stairs into the basement. After I turned off the water I called PuroClean and they were at my house in less than an hour. Scott examined the damage and went straight to work using his equipment to suck up all the water in the kitchen. He then brought in some pretty cool looking equipment and placed it in the kitchen to efficiently dry the kitchen. I was amazed that he wanted to try and save the hardwood kitchen floor which he did. That alone was worth calling him so I didn't have to deal with the construction and cost of replacing the floors. He used some different equipment to suck the water that was in between the floor boards and in the wood. He then drilled small holes in the bottom of the cabinets to blow air in so he didn't have to remove the cabinets to prevent mold from growing. He then went into the basement and did the same things. He removed the standing water and then brought in his equipment to dry out the walls, carpet and a couch that got wet. We were amazed he didn't have to tear anything out to dry out the basement. The whole thing took three days and each day he came back to take measurements to make sure my house was drying properly. He explained the whole process up front and let us know what it was going to take to get our house back. He was very good and explaining what he was going to do, why he was doing it, what the equipment did and why it was needed. He took several measurements on each day of different rooms to get an idea of how the drying process was proceeding. He even removed some mold he noticed that was not due to the water leak. When Scott was done I had my house back and it was like nothing had ever happened.
