They run a great company; from the person that comes out to the house for the estimate to the person in the office (Melody) with whom you communicate. They are all intelligent, personable, and very professional. The movers were some of the hardest working people I've ever seen. I'm still amazed at how effective they are at packing and moving big heavy stuff. They took extra care of everything that was fragile and were true problem solvers. I can't speak highly enough of the whole process, which is one of the most unpleasant life experiences, but with their expertise it was painless. The only negative thing I can say was that the supplies (boxes, tape, packing paper, etc.) was priced quite a bit higher than I would have expected. They do deliver the supplies to your door, so maybe it's worth it. It's like everything in life: yes it's a little more expensive, but you get what you pay for. An outstanding company with exceptional service. Highly recommended.

They had a minimum so I needed to go with someone who charged less.

Couldn't have been happier. They actually arrived a little early, the whole team was professional and worked insanely fast, it took less total time than expected and ended up being quite a bit cheaper than the estimate.

They are fine. I enquired with some friends about them. The quality of their service was great. They were there on time. They are professional. I would use them again in the future.

I can't say enough wonderful things about New City Movers. We sold our Chicago townhouse to move to the western suburbs and every step of the way with them was seamless. The owner came to our four story townhouse to assess how much "stuff" we had and was so nice and so reasonable and unfazed by all the stairs and tricky angles. He quoted us a really fair price, and didn't charge for holding our stuff overnight, gave us free wardrobe boxes (which they delivered to our townhouse) and didn't charge any extra to make another stop at our 10x10 foot rented storage. Things with our closing did not go well, and it looked as though we were not going to be able to move in the day we had planned, the movers were literally driving back and forth on I-88 wondering if we were going to get the keys to the new house or not. NO CHARGE! Eventually, about 8pm, we got the green light to move into the new place and the movers stayed late to move us in! No extra charge, no attitude- nothing! It was fantastic.The movers themselves were so hardworking, so considerate (even when our 6 year old was running circles around them!). My husband and I stopped to ask one of the movers a qustion and he was answering us when I noticed that he had an extra long metal filing cabinet strapped to his back! He was talking to us like no one's business! They stayed until almost 1am moving us in. NOTHING was broken. Enough to restore one's faith in humanity. Please do yourself a favor and use New City Moving. Every person that I dealt with there was the epitome of professionalism, it was the one bright spot in an otherwise heinous real estate situation!

The team was great. From the initial inquiry to the free in-home estimate and ultimately the move, it was the most painless move I have ever had - and I have moved a lot. I had initially done some investigation into moving companies, but once I visited Yelp I knew that all my original choices were potential disasters. I searched for highly rated movers and New City Movers came up. I had a wonderful experience and I am more than happy with the price. The price was very equivalent to what other companies were estimating, but I had the additional confidence of knowing I was with a company that had a great reputation. I didn't worry they didn't show up on the day of the move, nor worry that they would hold my furniture hostage on the other end once we had gotten to the new location. The 4 man crew was extremely professional and really treated my house like it was there own. I could see the special care they took in moving up stairways and protecting the floor. They completed the move early and under their original estimate. I would highly recommend these guys if you are looking for a painless move experience.

They showed up. I had called them in advance and they quoted me a price. They told me what to expect that day. The movers were professional and they got everything done. They worked quickly. In the end we were charged quite a bit less than they had quoted because they were able to get it done quite a bit faster. We moved 3 days after a big blizzard and they did a good job of moving everything because there were issues getting into the alley and also moving things in that weather. They did a good job of it. I had spoken to the woman ahead of time about what furniture we had to move and it wasn't a lot. We were moving from a small apartment. They showed up with a giant truck that they couldn't even fit down the alley with all of the snow piled up. They came in and saw what we had and said it was unnecessary so they had to leave and come back with a smaller truck. That seemed a little unnecessary because I had described to the woman what we had but they didn't charge us for that. Showing up with the truck wasn’t a big deal for us because we weren’t in a time crunch. One of the workers crashed into the floor but it wasn’t a big deal because we put a rug on it. We would probably use them again.
