We last moved 10 years ago. That move did not go well, and is probably why we stayed put as long as we did, we were afraid to move again. Fast forward 10 years, and I read reviews on Yelp and Angie's List. New City Moving was the first company I contacted because the reviews on both sites were so overwhelmingly positive. Having gone through this move, I now know why. First, anyone you speak with on the phone is incredibly friendly and helpful. Second, they send an actual person to walk through your home and itemize the stuff your going to move so that they can give you an accurate estimate of how long it will take and how much in materials you're going to need. Next, on the day of the move, the crew arrived on time and all of them were incredibly friendly and eager to get to work. We had two trucks and six guys. We were well prepared this time and had most everything packed that was going to be moved. They were careful with all our furniture, wrapping it with a pad and then plastic wrap so nothing would be nicked/damaged during the move. They were careful with everything they moved navigating it carefully out of our old house and in to our new house. They were always courteous and polite. They packed up everything in our old house and got us in to our new house in 7 hours, 1 hour less than the estimate. And the great thing, you only pay for the time they use. This move was fantastic and if you're ever afraid of moving, get these guys involved, because they'll make your moving experience as pain free as it can get.

They were excellent. The cost came in under quote and the team was very professional and careful in moving my stuff while being fast and on time to my move. They took care to wrap all the furniture and deliver and made sure to ask me where I wanted it. They worked well to move stuff through tight spaces in my new condo and I was incredibly impressed by how quickly they worked. I have used them in the past and have always liked them.

New City helped us move last July from our old condo to a rental and then again from the rental to a single family home. Each time they've been punctual, professional, fast, and under-budget. They take upmost care in wrapping furniture and packing knick knacks. It's been as much fun as moving can be.

Excellent customer service from the start (Kyle) regarding in home estimate and scheduling. very helpful with getting parking permits for the move (Chicago) and helpful when I had to change the date of the move. Fee was less than estimated. The movers were super nice and professional and super strong! LOL Great service overall.

We were in a bind because other plans had dropped through for moving assistance. When we called New City, the person took all of the information about the move, and helped think through all the pieces. Based on that process that took about 10 min or so, she was able to give us an estimate for the move - which was the very next morning. Everything was conducted by email and electronically so it went very smoothly. I had a few questions and called back. They were answered very quickly and I was able to complete the information right away and we were booked. The movers showed up exactly on time. They very professionally packed everything up, including a request to provide additional wrapping to protect some of our more fragile pieces. They showed up at the new residence in exactly the time we expected and had everything unpacked and set up in record time. They didn't seem to "rush"... just moved extremely efficiently. The entire process took almost 45 min faster than we were quoted and the cost was more than $100 less than the original estimate. We would definitely use them again and recommend them without exception.

The world is a very different one from the last time we moved houses, 38 years ago(!), so we really didn?t know what to expect, except anxiety. But, having found New City Moving very highly rated on Angie?s, and comparing their bid with another very highly rated provider, we took the plunge, and arranged in late January for a move on March 9. It was going to be a bit more complicated, since we needed to move our son?s possessions to a separate location in Evanston, Illinois, while moving us from Evanston to Morton Grove. New City Moving called to confirm the move on Monday, the 7th, and overall were friendly while professional. As arranged, they confirmed that we would see the two trucks, and five men, at 9am Wednesday. Sure enough, at about 8:40am, they drove up. Foreman-Driver Helit went through the house with us, asking good questions and they started in immediately by laying down plastic sheeting on all of our carpeted floors and stairs. While the crew began by loading boxes that we had packed in advance (for weeks!), one of them began to pack up our dining room hutch (fragile china and glass objects) and the non-food items in the kitchen. He took great care, and a good deal of time, packing dishware, glassware, our stainless silverware and cooking implement drawers, our mixer and coffeemaker, the works. The home we moved from is a split level: bedrooms and office at the top, living-dining and kitchen a few steps above grade level, family room and laundry utility at grade level, and a sub-basement storage area a few steps below grade. Four levels: lots and lots of stuff. Hanging clothes and outerwear in closets were carefully packed into wardrobe boxes. Our son?s things were in that sub-basement, and I advised Helit that the array of boxes, crates of vinyl record albums and the like did NOT need the TLC they had devoted to the goods in the upper three levels. The five men made quick work of moving them up and out and into the second truck. By 1:30pm they had completed packing and loading. By the way, I will make special note of the way the furniture was handled: extremely carefully! Furniture pads, and complete three-dimensional plastic sheeting (many layers? worth) meant that our concerns about the weather and a move in winter were set aside. It was a really beautiful day, with just some drizzle mid-day, but all the furniture and all of the boxes came through clean and dry. The plan was for the crew would accompany both trucks to our son?s new digs a few minutes away, so they could unload into the garage there. Then the two trucks and crew would proceed to our new Morton Grove apartment, after grabbing lunch. I saw them off, closed up the house, and headed to the apartment, which is about 20-25 minutes away from the house. As I arrived, our son texted us that the crew had already unloaded and stowed his goods and were on their way to lunch: impressive efficiency. The two trucks arrived at about 2:45pm, and once again, we showed Helit the new place. I had labeled the rooms (?front room?, ?office?, ?den?, etc.) to help make it easier to start stowing boxes, emptying the wardrobe boxes into closets and placing furniture. It all went quite smoothly, and the work was completed by about 5:30pm. Furniture was placed as directed (and sometimes good advice was proffered about that placement). Our Sleep Number bed is a bit intricate and was dis-assembled and re-assembled perfectly. Same with our office desk, a metal and glass cantilever affair that took some time, but was re-assembled exactly right. And boxes (and boxes and boxes and boxes) were stacked. (I?ve told friends and family that I?m optimistic that we?ll be unpacked within 10 years.) And we have begun to unpack, and have found absolutely nothing damaged, in box after box of fragile glassware and china serving pieces and dishware. A really astounding achievement. Throughout, the entire crew was cheerful, friendly, accommodating, and are they strong! I?ve mentioned the foreman, Helit (who became our wonderful partner in this endeavor), and will also call out Armando, the driver on the second truck, and the crew, David M., Guadalupe, and Juan I. All were terrific: helpful, thorough, gentle with what needed that, but plenty strong enough to wrestle bulky, heavy furniture and boxes up the many stairs to our first-floor apartment. If you get the message that New City Moving did a great job for us, then I have succeeded here. And, icing on the cake, the all-day job actually came in a few dollars under their bid. We are fans. We hope not to move any time soon (another 38 years may be soon enough!), but we know who we?ll call when we do: New City Moving.

Every staff member communicated effectively and contributed to a stress-free, first-rate move. My movers were punctual, efficient, fast and most importantly protected and handled my furniture, art work and personal belongings with expert care. I would highly recommend New City Moving to anyone seeking a professional; experienced; reputable; customer care focused and affordable moving company.

Great price, great service, hard workers. We were quoted at $3k and final move was $1,700. We definitely did all we could to box EVERYTHING, donate, break down furniture, all to reduce costs, but it worked and these guys moved. Office staff were so accommodating to all our changes, responsive, friendly. Only drawback was our scheduled move-in was 3pm and their truck broke down on the highway which set them back 2 hours. Not the end of the world for us - and office called and kept us updated on status and ETA. Poor guys had to move all boxes from broken down truck into the replacement since they couldn't fix the engine. They were so quick and careful with our furniture, we'd definitely use them again.

They did a great job and I would hire them again.

Two movers arrived on time, were very professional and courteous. Everything arrived on time and intact. Amazingly, the estimate was for over $300 but we were charged less!

AMAZING. I can't say enough great things about this service. Compared to past moving services, this was like a vacation. Here is why it was so wonderful: * Extremely professional, punctual, and nice * They moved so quickly. Like they were sweating and jogging to get the job done as fast as possible. * They brought extra supplies and didn't try to upcharge the heck out of me to use them. * They moved loose pieces and bags (even though they didn't have to) and didn't make me feel bad about it * The cost came in over $100 UNDER the estimate * They were nice and I felt comfortable having them in my home Seriously, the level of service was outrageous. AND, despite having done a subpar job boxing my items up, not a SINGLE thing was broken when I unwrapped everything. I will never use another mover. I couldn't recommend new city more highly. Clear & helpful communication upfront in scheduling and providing an estimate. Final cost was very close to estimate - appreciate the willingness to come out & do an in-person estimate, even on short notice. Movers showed up right on time on move day. They worked efficiently and quickly and carefully throughout the day. Felipe was the move lead - he did a great job. Would recommend.

My crew was on time, they worked hard and didn't take any breaks. They were very professional and even though we ran into an issue with my final destination, they quickly solved the problem unloaded without a problem. There was no damage to any of the items delivered. The foreman explained the invoice to me at the end and they even charged me less than my estimate. Great service, great value, will definitely use them again or recommend to others!

I've never had a move go so well. Fabio and his crew worked hard, quickly and carefully. They were absolutely fantastic. We tried to prep everything ahead of time but hadn't quite finished packing our basement and they finished that up for us. They were really polite and pleasant to be around. When things didn't go perfectly (our box spring wouldn't fit up our narrow stairs, we had workers building a new deck near our exterior basement access) the guys were easy going and helpful in figuring out a solution.

I scheduled the appointment with New City Moving Inc. over the phone after completing my moving inventory online. In the inventory, I accurately shared that the apartment was on the third floor without an elevator, I accurately described the square footage, accurately described the furniture needing to be moved and was short approximately 20 boxes in my inventory description detailing the total number of boxes being moved. I had a couple of questions regarding the TV's being moved in the final agreement and the New City Moving team was very helpful answering those questions. When finalizing the details of the move over the phone, the coordinator shared that I would only need three movers, confirmed the truck size and tacked on a few extra hours for the move sharing that I would not pay for those extra hours if they weren't required. The move was scheduled for the afternoon and movers arrived on time. The gentleman in charge of the crew started to size up my apartment while asking me to sign the final paperwork and was immediately concerned. He asked, "How many movers did you ask for? What size truck?" I shared that I haven't moved in years and made arrangements based on the recommendations of his office. He shared that the truck was probably too small and he needed an extra guy for something on the third floor. Out of earshot of the gentleman in charge of the crew, I called the Dispatch line for assistance and left a voicemail requesting an extra mover and larger truck. Since it was Sunday and they were closed, I did not receive a reply. He in the meantime started moving boxes and reached out to secure another mover who did arrive at the location we moved to to help unload boxes. The movers wrapped our furniture well as it did not get wet or stained with the rain. A few of our boxes needed to be re-taped and the movers quickly discovered and sealed those boxes. They moved all the boxes very quickly. Also, they managed to get the majority of the boxes and furniture into the truck in one trip and parked appropriately in alleys by the new and old apartment. We did need to return to the apartment with a Zipcar to get a few plastic tubs that ended up not fitting in the truck. The challenge with these movers is that they sacrificed quality for speed. Many of our boxes were triple stacked on their backs and torn through by the straps used by the crew. Plus, we had boxes of glassware shattered and a damaged lounge chair that had dislodged screws in the packing process. It was clear that we were their last move of the day and they just moved everything too quickly. The head of the crew was upset with their home office complaining about how the office would rather schedule fewer guys for more hours. All in all, New City Moving has issues between their office coordinators and moving staff that need to be remedied to ensure there's more positive customer experiences in the future.

The guys were great! They were on time, wrapped and loaded the truck efficiently, and worked diligently and carefully to get everything into new older and smaller apartment. Will use them again in the future! They were amazing!!

Best move ever!!!! This company and their staff members from start to finish were exceptional! Would highly recommend and would definitely use again if I (God forbid) ever move again!

NCM did a great job. We were moving with a pregnant wife and a toddler, they made it easy and low stress. Scheduling and planning was easy. They were the only company we called that sent someone to the house to get a quote. We then trusted the quote more than an online survey from others. They guys that came were on time and super fast an efficient. All the loose ends we hadn't packed up proper, they had wrapped up and on the truck in no time. As the destination they made sure that all furniture and boxes were in the correct places and rooms.

In the last 3 years, we moved to LA, moved back to Chicago and then moved again to our new place last month. For this move, we used New City Moving. The scheduling process was a breeze and we got an upfront estimate. Given all the recent moves, we know what to expect and what not to be surprised by. Our move with New City Moving was literally a block away and we packed everything ourselves (except furniture). Our movers, led by Jose arrived on time and were lightning fast. Since we were paying by the hour, that certainly helped keep our moving cost affordable. They also helped breaking down the beds and reassembling them later. Although, this was a 5 star move, the only thing lacking was some attention to detail. I would certainly use New City on a future move and recommend them to family and friends.

If there was a grade higher than an A they would have earned it. They showed up on time, finished the move quickly, and everything made it with no damage. Such a well run company with great workers.

The crew moved us out of our three bedroom condo (on the 3rd floor) and into a 4 story row home. Milton and his crew did a great job and were efficient and significantly faster than the estimator anticipated. And, they actually took the time to send an estimator out which made me feel more comfortable. (they were the only company to offer to do so.) They also secured enforceable parking permits (ie not the kind one's alderman gives you) and we did indeed have to tow a vehicle to move in. They also did the move exactly as I wanted and moved the front part of the house in from the street & then moved the truck to the alley to access easily the rear of the home. It could not have gone better.

New City provided moving services to our new home. An agent from New City came out to our old house and gave us a free, detailed estimate of the cost (which was very accurate). The moving team worked very quickly to get us moved out of the old house and moved in to the new house. They really did a great job of packing the furniture and it arrived in great shape. Very satisfied.
