NETZEL PLUMBING

We had a cracked manhole cover on the sidewalk that the City of Chicago said was our responsibility. I called Netzel. They came to our house, looked at the manhole cover, found a replacement and got me an estimate in one day. Within one day of telling them I wanted to proceed, the job was done and done well. And because nothing was inside the house, no one had to be at the house to meet them.

I have used Netzel Plumbing for more than four years, on two buildings. Each time, they have been prompt to schedule a visit, prompt in getting there (no talk of having to finish a previous job so there is a delay), and efficient in doing the work. I could probably find someone cheaper, but I am convinced that Netzel does quality work. .

We had spent over $600 with another plumber to diagnose a toilet clogging problem. After two visits, they still had not resolved the problem and had quoted us over $1000 for their next "fix." Netzel plumbing came out, diagnosed the problem and came back and installed a repair in less than a week. They did not charge us until the work was done and the problem was resolved. In all we paid them half of what we paid the previous plumber. They are also very responsive and professional. We will definitely continue to use them.

Netzel is responsive, economical, efficient and effective. They do high quality work at reasonable prices. They will be our regular plumber. We are so glad to have found them.

Before finding Netzel, I called several plumbing companies that were highly rated on Angie's List. However, none of them had appointments available for several days (or only offerred to call me back when they could schedule an appointment). Thankfully one recommended Netzel if I needed quicker service. Netzel responded immediately and were at my house within an hour. The jobs were completed within less than two hours. The work was done professionally and at a reasonable price. (I didn't ask for an estimate before the work was done). If I need plumbing work done in the future, I would call Netzel again.

They came over and they were very responsive. We ended up going with someone else.

They did a super job. The service was perfect, responsive and quick. They were respectful.

It went good. They guy that came out was friendly, informative, fast, and on time.

They are honest, on-time, no bs and they get the job done. Second time I've used them and I will not be switching to anyone else.

Netzel Plumbing was the first to respond to a non-emergency message I had left on the answering machine of 3 plumbing contractors. The callback was within @2 hours of my call. During the callback, I mentioned I was looking for Friday (8/5) availability to repair a leak in the shutoff valve/supply line to the toilet, since I was taking that day off and could get to the condo (@45 minute drive from home). The plumber indicated he had another job already scheduled first thing Friday morning but he would be able to set up an appointment for 10am that day. He also indicated he would call me Friday morning if he would be delayed because the earlier job required additional time. I arrived at the condo Friday morning around 9:50am and the plumber was already taking out his toolbox from the truck. Once inside the bathroom, he proceeded to quickly diagnose the leak as being caused by the copper tubing between the fill tube and the shutoff valve. Apparently the old compression fitting had failed. He replaced the copper tubing with flexible tubing, which he had brought up (along with an appropriate shutoff valve, just in case). No wasted time going up/down 3 flights of steps -- big plus. During the process, I asked a number of questions (some related to the issue, others about general plumbing) and he graciously proviided answers. I wanted to make sure the leak wasn't caused by a faulty shutoff valve and he assured me it wasn't the case. When yours is the top floor unit, leaking water could find its way to a neighbor's place below, which wouldn't be good. The plumber indicated had the shutoff valve been the source of the problem, the leaking would not have stopped solely by replacing the copper tubing. In addition, when copper tubing was removed, water would have continued to leak from the shutoff valve if it had been the problem. Several test flushes were made and the plumber also checked for leaks in the various other connections/tubes/valves/washers/bolts inside and outside the tank. He also made sure the float was set so that the water level in the tank was appropriate. The actual work probably took @10-15 minutes. Netzel Plumbing -- like many other plumbers -- has a minimum service charge, which was what I was billed for (plus the cost of the flexible tubing). From my perspective, the minimum charge was very reasonsble. Even though it wasn't a big or complicated job, the plumber was very professional and did a great job. I've been back to the condo several times to make sure there are no leaks and there aren't any. From my perspective, Netzel Plumbing was great. I'll be calling them for a quote on a larger project in the future.

There was a water leak from the floor above ours. They worked it out and stopped the leak. I liked them. They were courteous, capable and effective. Once they started the diagnosis they actually spent more time working on the floor above mine. I didn't interact with them too much, but I thought they did very well. They were fairly priced too. I was satisfied with their work. I would use them again if I needed some plumbing work to be done.

Rich came on time and changed my toilet (old to new). Al came on time and installed my new bathroom fixtures = sink-toilet/shower bar-grab bar. The kitchen sink was secured and connected. All work great and look great. Both gentlemen cleaned up when finished.

Netzel is our regular plumber. We have also used them to replace a sink, a toilet and for other pipe clearing. The Netzel guys are very thorough in their explanation of what needs to be done, and explained clearly what we should be doing to maintain clear drains. (The method we were using, eco-friendly baking soda/vinegar/hot water, was probably helping to cause the clog.) The only time we did not use Netzel was to clear a clogged catch basin, when they could not get to us within a day. The other plumber was much more expensive, and didn't do any better a job than what we would have expected from Netzel. Our church also uses Netzel, and they have been great about fixing 100+ year old plumbing there.

This is the 2nd time I used Netzel Plumbing. The first time was in Oct of 2010 before I joined Angies List. I was happy to see they were listed after I joined and others think highly of them. Both times I called, left a message and was called back in a timely fashion. I had a Plumber here within an hour of when they called back. Both times the work was done quickly, efficiently, professionally, and most important correctly. Both jobs were not major work but bigger projects will be coming up and we will definitely be calling Netzel Plumbing to do them.

They were able to show up the same day and was very affordable.

Originally I was leaning toward having all the piping replaced. After talking to Rocky and Jacob(his assistant) they showed me that some the pipes (drain and vent) were in good condition. They did replace all the supply with 'blue' copper and with pvc for those pipes that were replaced. Jacob told me about 'red' copper but I wanted to use 'blue' cause I had investigated and decided to use 'blue' as did one of the other plumbers estimates. I could see that the blue was thicker than the red although both are city code. They started on time each day and completed the job as they stated. They also changed the piping going out to my front yard ( for a small charge) after showing them the existing line was old and leaking. I had bought the faucets for the tub and shower and they connected the tub faucet for us. No sink in place at this time. They also disconnected one of the two vents leading thru the roof and redesigned the drain lines. They were done in 3 days and cleaned up. They left the old piping and I will bring it to a resale place instead of leaving it in the alley.

The good: Rocky was very cooperative and understanding when I had trouble scheduling a time for him to come by. Circumstances beyond my control forced me to cancel one visit (several days in advance) and I had trouble getting a neighbor to agree on a time we would both be here, as required. Rocky always returned my calls the same day and we were eventually able to set a time for him to come. He called shortly before arriving and came well within the two-hour window he promised. The work involved determining the source of a leak in our bathroom. He did so within a minute or two, in fact. Although he couldn't be absolutely certain, he identified what he believed with 90% likelihood was the source of the leak. Because it was a tile/grout issue, not a plumbing issue, there was no need for an estimate or for him to perform any work. (He did, as a courtesy, reverse the handle on a faucet so it matched the temperature of the water flow; he had previously explained what I needed to do to do it myself, but when I had to leave for a few minutes, he went ahead and did it without being asked. I would guess it took him a minute: one screw, reversing one piece, and then screwing the handle back on. Hardly a major job.) I was puzzled that, although he seemed certain of the location of the leak, he seemed to be dragging out his stay. I think I figured out why later. Which leads me to: The bad: when, as a courtesy, I asked if I owed him anything, he said $64. Part of this is my fault: I did not explicitly ask if he would provide a free estimate. Under the circumstances--he couldn't possibly have been here for thirty minutes at the absolute outside (maybe that was why he was taking so long to do, essentially, nothing--$64 strikes me as a very hefty charge. I have no doubt he knows his business and is probably good at it. But this fairly significant charge left a bad taste in my mouth and if I need a plumber in the future, it probably won't be Netzel.

They came out the same day I called, and replaced the valve with a new one that was much quieter than the old one. They were on time, courteous, and very helpful in terms of answering all of my questions. I was very pleased and will definitely call them again.

They did a good job. The person who came in to do the work didn’t fool around and did the job well. He also took special care to see that everything was cleaned up after their work was done. I would rate them high overall. Their price was reasonable. I would use them in the future.

It went fine. They came the same day I called.

There appeared to be a leaky pipe in the closest where our water heater is located. I thought that I all I would need is a quick pipe repair/replace. Netzel came out the same day that I called (I was referred to them by another plumber who was too busy to help me that day). Within a few minutes they fixed the leak, but then noticed a much bigger problem - the bottom of my 30-gallon water heater completely collapsed and was leaking to the floor below our unit. Because our closest is so small, we can only fit a small water heater in the spot. Within 24 hours, Netzel was able to order and replace the water heater. They were very polite and they did their best not to get water on the carpet that was next to the water heater. Most importantly, they responded to my call quickly and were able to diagnose and solve the problem right away. I don't know what the going rate for water heater replacement is, but they did a great job and I believe that I got my money's worth.

They were responsive and punctual in the middle of a really big snowstorm

The price seemed reasonable for what they did. The guy was real friendly and seemed to know what he was doing. He did his job and nothing was terribly outstanding. I had to call them a couple of weeks later because there was backing up again. They did not charge me for that call because they routed it out again. They brought a camera to put it down through the line all the way out to the street to see if there was anything obstructing it so they did charge me for that. I think that was $150 or so, but that was fine. There wasn't anything major obstructing it, but I was fearful that they were going to have to dig up and replace the line if it had collapsed together because it's an older house. They were very responsive. I called them in the morning and they were here within an hour or two. I would use them again in the future.
