I did not use this company they were tooooooo expensive.

absolutely terrible! had to hire someone else to hang the fan correctly and other jobs were not completed. paid a crazy amount for a job i had to get redone.

They do an excellent job, I do use them on an ongoing basis.

We had three varying jobs to do, so we thought we would give them a try. After the longest explanation of services/costs I've ever heard on the phone, we scheduled an appointment and they showed up on time. Overall, the work was good. Two items I didn't like was the fact that they are on the clock and don't seem to worry about efficiency. For example: he started with the exhaust fan, and after going upstairs to look up at it, had to then go out to his truck to get a ladder, then once up on the ladder, decided he needed a screwdriver to open it, so back out to the truck. These little things add up. Also, a couple days later I was on a ladder sanding the top of the boards on the fence that he replaced and noticed that ALL of the nails he put in were sticking out about a half inch into my neighbor's yard (fortunately, they don't have kids), so I had to go around with a hammer and do my best to flatten them down. Granted, I should have gone and gotten a ladder to look over on the other side when he asked me to inspect his work, but it's obvious he never checked either. Also of note, he spilled a bunch of glue on our deck which sort of got cleaned up (still see it) and he spilled paint in the street by his truck and had to spend time hosing it down (hooked up to our house, but he said he took the appropriate amount of time off the clock for this). They seem to be licensed for everything (hence the higher cost), and may be good for coming in to handle anything from plumbing to electric to carpentry, so they would be good to hire for a wide range of needs, but for specific jobs, I'll probably be looking elsewhere for help.

The employee arrived on time and reviewed the work to be done including having me sign a work order which included the hourly price. He replaced the section of wrap and put the soffit cover in place. While he was up there, he checked the wrap on the other side of the roof peak and also secured it more firmly in place. The entire job from start to finish took about 45 minutes and cost exactly what I was told.

Please note that the amount spent reflects an approximation from several visits from Mr. Handyman. My wife and I were very pleased with the work performed and the way it was performed. We had some work done on some cabinets, and a leak repaired on our toilet that had been left unattended for several years from the previous owner. Fixing the toilet involved the installation of a new wax seal, re-setting the toilet (which had not been done properly when it was initially installed) as well as cleaning and removing the mold that had collected beneath the base. We were very pleased with the work performed by Paul, and he conducted himself in a very friendly and professional manner on each of the 3 or so visits he made. On the first visit, he noticed that our front door was not closing properly and adjusted the hinges so it would free of charge. The rates seem high when you compare those of some other independent handymen, but I would definitely say it is worth it, as the jobs get done right the first time when you hire Mr. Handyman, and you can rest assured that the contractor will be prepared for the job and polite and professional while he is in your home. I highly recommend using Mr. Handyman.

Terrible. The owner called me right away and explained that the technician was running late, and I needed to understand that these things happen. More or less I needed to understand their problems and that they miss appointments only 5% of the time. He never discussed my problems; (1) I drove home to be on time and then drove back, 45 minutes each way, with nothing acomplished. (2) My impression of the company is they are unreliable and not exactly customer oriented.

He was fine. He came in and fixed it. He was on time. I was here all the time. The quality of his work was okay. Nothing has happened since then that would require us to call him back.

They said they charge $95.00 to come out for an estimate, if i choose them for the job it would be credited against the amount owed, but if i did not use them i would be charged $95. i thought that was nuts.

The service was excellent. They are on time and their fee seems to be within the norm. He was informative and kind.

They are always professional, responsive and on time. Every job has been satisfactorily completed. I would recommend them.

In general, Mr. Handyman arrives on time and does a great job. We just had one problem that occurred when Mr. Handyman installed a new tile floor in our bathroom. The handyman who did the work ended up charging us for tools that he bought at Menards to do the work. He charged us for a wet saw and heavy duty metal tools that he should have brought with him. Gary Rich did end up giving us a refund for the tools that were improperly charged to us. So, we were able to resolve the problem.

They did the job very well. They showed up on time when they said they would and the workers were friendly and polite. I would use them again for similar work in the future.

The worker that came out was very friendly and very knowledgeable. I would use them again when needed.

He also told me the strings had stretched. He lubricated the window which only made it fall more easily. He didn't have any springs with him and he would have to come back from Melrose Park and then I could clip the strings myself. He also suggested that I could put two locks on the window instead of one. I ended up getting this work done but not with Mr. Handyman, I just felt it would be too expensive for them to come out and the work.

The furniture moving went fine but the caulking there was some issues with. The caulking was messy and there was caulk that got on the bottom of the tub. He used some high power caulk and so this has not been able to come up. I never let them know that I had these issues, I just decided I wouldn't use them again.

I felt that their prices were a little pricey but I was in a bind as I needed the work done. They were very professional and completed the work accurately. They were able to finish the work promptly as well.

This was a textbook case of how a perfect repair call should go! Repairer introduced himself and waited to be led in. Immediately went to work, chatting with us along the way. Found the issue (filter was clogged with debris) and told us that he could replace it or clean it, and suggested the lower cost option of cleaning it because he did not see the need to be wasteful, especially in this economy. Explained clearly and fully what he would need to see to justify replacing the entire filter. Took all of 30 minutes, easily. Asked us what other projects we needed repaired since he was paid by the hour. We asked him to change electrical switches. Done in under ten minutes, easily. We showed him a faucet that leaked in the bathtub. He explained how we, ourselves, could fix it by going to Home Depot and actually buying a standard Moen faucet cartridge and replacing it ourselves for under $30. We took his advice and did it. Done! This repair person was spot on and, by far, the best I've ever experienced. If Mr. Handyman has this caliber of workers, you can expect fair, excellent work from them!

It was terrible. They were unprofessional workers. They did a really shoddy job and someone else from the company had to re-fix it. They were really overpriced. They charged 90 dollars just to come out and give an estimate. I was not happy with the work for the money I spent.

They do excellent work, it is a bit on the expensive side. I would still highly recommend the company!

A fallen tree knocked down three sections of backyard fence. Mr. Handyman repaired one, and replaced two sections. The problem now is the door connected to the fence won't open all the way since the repair. When I called to report it, they became defensive. You'd think they'd be nicer since I'd already paid them $1,000. The guy came out to look at it, but I really don't know if they'll fix it. Also, the lumber cost was sky high. It took me a couple calls, but I finally got Mr. Handyman to send me a copy of the receipt. I had to threaten with calling the Better Business Bureau. The note they sent with the receipt states that Mr. Handyman charges a 100% mark-up on all their materials. So I paid $366.00 for lumber that should have cost $186.00. Plus, they charge a van charge. Plus, the man was gone for a long, long time to buy the lumber. In my part of the city, lumber and hardware stores are everywhere. So, I paid way too much, and now the fence door is out of whack.

Frankly, I was very pleased. The handyman arrived a few minutes early, quickly sized up the situation, and completed the work in a reasonable time frame. He gave the impression of competence, and the finished product was excellent.

I think that his prices are a little high at $85 per hour. It s really hard to find people in the area that will do minor repair work around the home. However, I am very satisfied with the quality of his work and would still recommend him.
