Lookswell painted the exterior trim on my family's brick two-flat row house in Chicago. Their bid was competitive compared to other painters. They exhibited professionalism during the bidding process and during the painting. The painters matched the current colors accurately. They primed, caulked and painted all of the wood trim around our windows and doors as well as painted the wooden front doors.

They were beyond amazing. 2 bedroom and 2 bath plus ll the trim. AND the paint. He will be my go to guy in the future. These guys are beyond awesome. Clean, neat, and everything was done just as I needed and I was not even there. Great company!

I bid out many vendors and Lookswell was the one company that made the process very easy. They didn't try to rip and replace the entire house or sell me services I didn't ask for, they reviewed what i wanted done, discussed the different requirements and provided an easy to understand proposal with no hidden gotchas. The final job looks fantastic and they worked through some horrible weather having many starts and stops. Each time ensuring that they made sure they did it correctly by delaying painting until the surfaces had truly dried out. I would recommend them to friends and family and will look at them next for internal jobs. Phil

Contacted Jim through Angie's List, and scheduled an estimate for later the same week. He arrived on time, and I showed him what I was looking for. He took some measurements, took a few counts, and told me he'd e-mail me the estimate within a few days. The estimate showed up in my inbox three days later. I made a few edits, ok'd it, and sent it back with my credit card info. We scheduled it for about 6 weeks later. He estimated that it would take 3-4 days from start to finish. He explained that they would charge half of the total on start, and the rest at completion. A day later, I noticed that half of the total appeared on my credit card - 6 weeks before the job. I e-mailed Jim and asked him what was up. He explained that the office must've gotten confused, and that I'll just pay the rest on the completion of the job. I said it was fine, but I did not want to be accidentally charged again on the day that the work started. A few weeks later, I received a call from a woman in the office who told me that I owed them $1,900. Didn't I owe it at the end of the job like Jim said? I took the very nice, but very confused, woman on the phone through what Jim had said, how much I'd paid, etc. She apologized. The week before the painting, I sent Jim an e-mail, confirming all of the details, including the paint color for a bathroom that was being painted. I confirmed everything; payment, what was being painted, start time, etc. A few days later, I had not heard anything, so I called the office. The same woman confirmed that I was all set. On day of, three painters arrived right on time - 8am. I walked the crew leader through everything. He did not know that the bathroom was being painted, or the color that I had sent to Jim. I wrote down the information for him. I left for work - and came home about 10 hours later. The job looked about 75% done. The next morning, they arrived again right on time. The main guy explained that they were going to do as much as possible, but that they'd be back tomorrow to finish up. Again, I left for work - and came about about 10 hours later, to the job looking pretty close to, if not entirely, complete. It looked awesome. They did a great job. No mess, everything put back together, doors rehung, etc. There was a bucket of paint left out, so I did not know if they were going to come back like they said. I waited the next morning until 8:30a to make sure they weren't going to show up. They did not, so I guess the job was done. Overall, the work was excellent, and the crew was great - but important details weren't buttoned up between all of the people involved, and it was frustrating at some points to repeat myself. No one seemed to be on the same page. Highly recommend the quality of the work though.

This has to be the best and friendliest painting company in the larger Chicago area. Just watch their video online and you will see Frank, the appraiser and supervisor, in action. We chose this company for their competitiveness (we had 4 other estimates, some a bit lower), but mainly because Frank made us feel that the job, though challenging, was not above them, and that it would be executed with great workmanship and done within our time limits. And it was. In three weeks they painted eight rooms of a sizeable Victorian house that had a lot of deferred maintenance (falling plasterwork, some old wallpaper, cracked walls). They solved each problem with great inventiveness and workmanship and made the house look like new. Our team of painters (3 or 4 every day, coming at 7 a.m, leaving at 3:00 or 3:30 p.m) was wonderful; every one was very nice, they worked very very hard, but always with a lot of good humor. Mario (and Almundo at the end) did a great job fixing up a few old baseboards and trim. Moses was a wizz with paint. The preparation work was amazing: often 3 coats of plaster, one of primer, two of paint. Also, their coordination, efficiency, and cleanliness is amazing. They?d start out laying down clean tarps, then plastic sheets secured with masking tape, in which they took the debris out before leaving, then vacuuming so as to leave the place clean and liveable overnight. They were extremely courteous and respectful of our privacy. Frank stopped by every day to supervise the work and discuss what was next. His jovial visit was always encouraging and reassuring. Considering the extent of the work, we felt that three weeks was a short time to make our house gorgeous again. We couldn?t be more pleased with the results!

Lookswell did a fabulous job! The painters moved all of the furniture to the middle and covered everything with plastic. The patched a few bad spots in the walls. They also painted over a paneled wall. The rooms look beautiful! All of the patching is seamless - you can't tell there was ever any 'blemish' in the wall. The paneled wall looks great - painted that wall a shade darker and the paneling provides a different texture than just a bare wall. Jim, the ower, came out a few times to inspect the work to be sure it was done correctly.

Lookswell was absolutely great throughout the entire process. We had our project bid by 6 different painters and Lookswell's bid met or beat all of the other bids, substantially in some cases. Jim was very easy to deal with, was able to schedule in short notice, very friendly on the phone and in person. The painters were punctual, kept a very tidy works space and delivered a great work product. We are very satisfied with the way we were treated and the final result. I would highly recommend Lookswell to anybody in need of painting.

Things went well. They were on-time and efficient. They cleaned up everything. They even touched up some spots on my main level why they waited for paint to dry.

The young man who came to do the work was punctual, efficient, polite, personable and very professional. The wall looks great! He fixed all the cracks; the wall is smoother than I've ever seen it! He also caulked the place where the quarter round joins the wall which wasn't a part of the original job estimate. He left the room cleaner than it was when he began the work. Someone from the company called a few hours later to see if I was satisfied with the work. I would use Lookswell again in a heartbeat.

They contacted us to confirm the appointment beforehand, showed up on time, and performed the service impeccably. No mess, no fuss, and just a pleasure to deal with. Very professional during phone consultation and scheduling. Answered immediately and provided all relevant information. Very accomodating for scheduling. Ultimately, I did not have the on-site meeting and/or quote as another provider was arranged. I will definitely call on them in the future.

I needed a bedroom painted a different color and a stairway wall redone. I have never dealt with a company that was easier and more efficient to deal with. I emailed Jim pictures of what needed to be done; he gave me a quote based on the pictures and stuck to the quote. Turn around time was great and best part of all, Mario, the painter was exceptionally good. He was neat, detailed oriented and very professional. We have already email Jim pictures of outside work that needs to be done and would highly recommend him to others.

Called and was able to schedule an appt for the next day for a great price. The worker showed up on time, the work was done quickly and clean. Will absolutely schedule these guys again.

In 2013, we hired Lookswell to paint one room in our rental. They did a really great job for $400. We recently purchased a new house that required a top-to-bottom interior paint job in every room. Because of our prior experience, we asked Lookswell to provide a quote. Their quote came in about 15% below another quote we obtained for comparison. They did a truly fantastic job in record time. They put up samples so we could see the colors we were considering. They were extremely professional and punctual. They were very clean. And they even sent someone to spend a day at our house after we moved in to touch up the little nicks and marks that the movers left behind. It was unbelievable service. Jim and his team are awesome.

I was immediately contacted when I sent an inquiry through Angie's list. Jim came by and looked at the basement area and emailed me an estimate within a couple of days. The drywall repair began immediately when I accepted the offer and took two full days. Painting was done as I requested after I had a new floor installed. The painting was done by a three-person crew in one day. Jim checked in with me by telephone during the drywall repair and came by on the day of painting. The workers were respectful of my home. Jim assured me that if I saw any problems after the crew left, they would come back to fix and problems. It was a pleasure working with Jim and his employees.

Earlier in 2014 I used Lookswell Painting to install some wallpaper in a guest bedroom. I was very pleased with the professionalism of Frank, the estimator, and the wallpaper installer who completed the job. The wallpaper came out beautifully and I had to do minimal clean-up after he finished. I also felt satisfied with the value I received for the price I paid. I was not as satisfied with the second and most recent project I gave to Lookswell Painting. Frank and the painters were professional and punctual. They treated my home with respect and created minimal disruption. The wallpaper installed in the closet and the bathroom ceiling came out beautifully. However, the quality of certain aspects of the job left quite a bit to be desired. I expected a greater improvement in the condition of the baseboard trim for the amount I paid. To be honest, I couldn't tell if all of the trim had in fact been sanded and painted. I also would've appreciated the leftover paint or the name of the trim color. I should have followed up with my concerns earlier, but I was quite bogged down in other aspects of the renovation at the time. It has become clear to me that areas that were supposed to have been painted and sanded weren't painted or sanded at all. I'm quite disappointed with this encounter.

Frank, the estimator, was very professional and punctual. He made note of my Angie's List member discount and said he'd get a proposal back to me quickly. I entertained other competing bids, but based on Lookswell's reputation and competitive pricing I decided to go with them. I was so pleased with the installer's care and attention to detail. He provided excellent communication and managed to make a difficult job look effortless. The job took longer than anticipated and the installer arrived late one day, but otherwise I was very pleased with the process and the outcome.
