The Lookswell team, especially Jim, Omar & Cindy, were exceptionally professional & dedicated to the task. The final work looks great, appreciated the level of experience that allowed them to deal with our old house.

They were in and out. I work with them a lot for my clients and for my personal home.They are excellent. They come over. They are very clean and respectful.

We used Lookswell for multiple projects over the summer and it all worked out great. They were very punctual, worked extremely hard, very efficient with their time, fast and, for the money, I'd absolutely hire the team again!

I Called Lookswell and spoke to Cindy to set up an estimate. Jim came out on time to inspect the bathroom and we were pleased he took safety seriously by wearing mask and booties. We got the estimate and they came back with in a week and painted it. Very pleased with the results. All staff were professional and safe.

Came on time, worked efficiently and final job was very nice. Only complaint: had me buy wayyyyy too much paint that I can’t return.

Lookswell did an amazing job repairing the broken window frame at my home. They refinished the paint on my frame, and make sure that it matched the existing wall colors perfectly! It looks like it was never damaged. Will hire again for future repairs!

They set me up for an estimate over two weeks in advance at 230pm and then called at 200pm (30 minutes before they were supposed to be at my home) on a day when I left work early to be home when they arrived, to tell me they couldn't make it. They suggested 445pm which I said no to as I figured they wouldn't make that time either. Totally unprofessional, come on 30 MINUTES NOTICE?!?! Avoid like the plague!

Lookswell did a wonderful job. They were flexible in working around the schedule of the door delivery to our house, and put three coats of varnish on the doors. They have done a lot of other painting of the interior of our house, and I expect nothing less than superb work from them. I was not disappointed!

We first used Lookswell more than 30 years ago when we lived in Chicago before heading out to Barrington to raise a family. We used many different painting contractors over the years in our home there. Two years ago, as empty nesters, we bought a condo in Evanston, which had recently been painted top to bottom in a dark beige. Wondering if Lookswell was still around and whether they'd make the trek to Evanston now, I googled them and was happy to see that they were indeed still in business after all those years. It was so good to meet up with Jim Scanlon again when he came out to look at the work we needed done - somehow he didn't look a day older after 30 years?! The following day Jim's office manager, Cindy, sent a detailed proposal via email and got us on the schedule. We did have to wait a month or so but were in no rush since I hadn't even picked paint colors yet. We didn't get any other bids because our experiences with Lookswell in the past had always been perfect and the price seemed very reasonable. The crew assigned to our job included a supervisor, Fernando, and an awesome group of painters - Alberto, Alex and Luis. Fermando would stop by regularly to check on the work underway. Our condo has two story ceilings which I assumed would be challenging but that Jim's crew handled with ease. Each morning they arrived at 8am and spent quite a bit of time prepping the work area with lots of protective plastic and carefully removing pictures and moving furniture. They were extremely careful and very tolerant of the fact I still hadn't selected a color (so many shades of white to choose from..) by the time they arrived to start the job. Fernando helped me pick a white that turned out to be perfect with the north light in our condo. Their next challenge was my inability to choose a shade of grey for a wide swath of wall that curves to become part of the ceiling right in the center of our living area. Fernando came to the rescue again, suggesting trying one of my choices to see if I liked it and if not, they'd repaint. I did indeed decide to go a shade darker after my first choice was up and they graciously repainted that very challenging area for me - with smiles on their faces to boot. Nothing was too much trouble - they removed lots of wall anchors and repaired all the holes left behind from shelves I'd decided would not be rehung in their previous locations. Alberto and Alex had all the tools necessary to remove any hardware necessary - every size allen wrench in existence it seemed. They somehow painted an area I didn't think could even be accessed - I have no idea how they were able to reach a deep and very narrow recessed slot where a set of floor to ceiling height glass pocket doors retract. But they did. I was out at the time they handled that challenging area so the how is still a mystery. We would not hesitate to call on Lookswell the next time we need anything painted and in fact plan to have them repaint or restain our Valcucine cabinets next. Just need to pick a color...

I received multiple bids for my home repair project and decided to go with Lookswell based on their professionalism, responsiveness, and the reviews I saw here on Angie's List. They did not disappoint. Fernando was very thorough and professional for the estimate, and he explained the work they'd do clearly and concisely. The job took two days. Luis arrived promptly each day to do the work. He installed a long piece of drywall in a closet of my house that was recently gutted to make way for air conditioning ducts, and he patched a plaster hole in the same closet. He was careful to avoid the air conditioning lines running down the length of the house from the attic, which was critical. Luis also patched and sanded a plaster ceiling that was ravaged by hairline cracks after vents were installed. Both areas were painted white. When I noticed there were two unsightly gaps in the closet caused by the prior removal of baseboard, Luis quickly cut some of my old baseboard, installed it and painted it in under an hour. Fernando stopped by to inspect the job site on the second day to ensure I was satisfied, which I always appreciate. Pricing was fair, not too much, not too little. Excellent work, great customer service.

I contacted them through the Angie's List portal and although the portal said they served our area of the city, they responded that we were outside their service area.

Lookswell is a responsive, friendly, professional company. I have hired them numerous times, and they continue to be my go-to for painting and wallpaper in the city. Mario is brilliant with removing stubborn paper and incredibly talented at application. We had two very difficult patterns that he was able to line up beautifully!

These guys are fantastic -- completely professional, completely together, and completely top-shelf. I was recommended them by a fussy person with very high standards, and they exceeded my expectations, and made fast work of a very dirty job. We had two whole floors painted, but they were very clean, hardly intrusive, and the work was done much faster than I would have expected. I'd be hard-pressed to recommend any other painters!

The service provided by Lookswell Painting was superior. Jim Scanlon contacted me the same day I requested an estimate. He came by within a day to evaluate the job and prepare an estimate, which I received the next day. The estimate included drywall tape repairs in five rooms and a closet, as well as painting five rooms completely and two rooms partially. Ceilings were painted n three rooms. When I made the decision to go with Lookswell, I was able to set up an appointment within the next week. Before the work began, I requested an additional estimate on painting two more rooms. Jim responded quickly and came out again to review the situation. The work began promptly on Monday morning. Jim came along with the crew in the morning to make sure the workers knew what was expected. He returns school afternoon to check on the progress of the job.The guys worked diligently and carefully for two days. When it became clear that they wouldn’t finish on the third day as expected, Jim doubled the crew on Wednesday to ensure the job would be done in the time promised. The men were very professional and hard working. They were careful to do what I wanted done, and certainly were very skilled. They cleaned up after themselves each day and hauled out the trash . I enthusiastically give Lookswell Painting an A+ rating. I would hire them again, and do highly recommend them. Jim Scanlon treated me with the utmost respect and professionalism. I can’t say if I could have gotten a better price elsewhere, because I knew the moment I met him that he would provide the best service.

Jim and his team did a fantastic job wallpapering my dining room and guest bathroom. I chose a very expensive wallpaper so I was a bit nervous about finding someone experienced enough to do a good job. Mario was brillant. He is extremely knowledgeable and has been hanging wallpaper for years. He is meticulous and paid great attention to detail with the seams and matching. I can't thank Jim and his team enough for the professional job they did on my rooms. Mario's work was very clean and tidy and left no mess. I would definitely use Lookswells painting again as they offer outstanding professional friendly service.

I LOVE LOOKSWELL! From Cindy in the office, to Frank who did the estimate, to Edmundo who painted -- they all were excellent. Another contractor had just let me down big time. They gave me an estimate, made an appointment and just didn't show up for the work. The team at Lookswell jumped in and really delivered with tremendous quality and professionalism. As for the work itself? It wasn't just the paint job I'm pleased with. Edmundo took down the medicine chest and mirror so I could give it a good cleaning, and he replaced the towel rods with new ones. He worked fast and efficiently and I give him an A, too!

The 4person crew and team leader were punctual on day1 to review the plan with painters and I. They effectively protected my furniture and floor and cleaned up debris at the end of everyday, which took 3.5days to complete. Project included foyer, stairwell, hallway, living room and dining room. They did a wonderful job securing the loose plaster, sanding, and priming of the walls especially over my old archways. I also love the crown molding that was added to my dining room. It really takes the room up a notch. Look forward to hiring them again for the rest of my house.

Our 111 year old home needed a few interior rooms painted as well as all the wood trim & front porch of the exterior. Quotes were given promptly and painters arrived on time every day. Quality of work was excellent and cleanliness of painters was outstanding. They patched cracks and bumps, painted moldings, walls, and baseboards to look new. They covered all the furniture and rugs with plastic and each day cleaned before they left. The exterior of our home had a lot of detail, particularly the wood front porch. They use quality paint-Benjamin Moore. I am so pleased with their work and would highly recommend them.
