 + -1 moreFrom the first day to the last the project ran smoothly. It started with a two-person team coming out to power wash the outside. The next day four people showed up and began to paint. They matched the color that was already on the house perfectly. It took about seven work days, spread across two weeks, because of rainy days -- they did work during very hot days. We have a very tall house and some of the areas near the roof were difficult to access. They managed it with their very tall ladders. They did a professional, neat job, putting two coats on both the siding and trim. In addition to the great job they did of painting, I felt very comfortable with the people on the team. Sometimes people who work on houses seem angry, or in a hurry. This team of four to five guys (and occasionally a woman) worked calmly, consistently, and got the job done. As a woman, I felt comfortable being alone in the house while they were working outside. We liked this company so much we will probably hire them again to do some painting on the inside of the house. About two weeks later (they are busy), his crew of four came on schedule and in two days did a great job -- very professional, cheerful, neat, thorough. They moved furniture on the porch and cleaned up well. They even did a few extras that we asked for. Would definitely recommend this company.

 + 0 moreJR painting's five man crew arrived early to prepare the site in order to begin painting on time at 8 am. They worked efficiently and methodically until done at about 5:30 pm. I was really expecting a 2 or more day job (based on past experience with other companies, ) but the entire house was done in one day! The crew took pains to cover shrubs, deck and patio. If they eve took breaks, I was not even aware. They were very professional and did an exceptional job. They used high quality paint (included in the price), and left half a can in case of touch ups! Would definitely hire them for other remodeling and painting, inside or out!!!

 + -1 moreRaul and his team were outstanding. We initially contacted them based off the deal on Angie's list to paint the interior of our house (which we're selling at the moment). Raul and I made an appointment, and he showed up on time to look at what we wanted to have done. We were looking to have some ceilings painted as well, which wasn't part of the deal. At the time we were also looking at drywall companies to get some work done in our family room and powder room. After our initial appointment, Raul mentioned that they could do the drywall work as well. In the end we had them do both because their cost was very competitive with the other bids we had received (for the drywall work). They worked within our schedule to plan out when they could start the work (we had some other remodeling to finish up first). When the scheduled day came we had one person show up to start the drywall work. As the week went on they had a second person come to help finish the drywall and start painting the interior. By the time they were done we had two or three people every day here working on the project. Everyone that showed up was great, and were willing to work with what we needed to have done that day (they weren't able to work full days initially because of other things we had going on with the house). One thing they did that was above and beyond was our kids rooms. We had them stay at our in-laws while the drywall work was getting done, and I was hoping to have their rooms painted before they got back (so the paint smell would be fading). But we were working on getting the drywall done first as well (so that would be all finished when they got back). They ended up bringing in additional people one day to just get the two rooms painted, without us even asking them too. Once the overall painting was done, they went back and did the touch up work, and then left the remaining paint here in case we needed it. I would definitely use them again if we needed to.
Description of Work: We had them paint the entire interior of our house, and do some drywall work in our kitchen, family, and powder room.

 + 2 moreRaul and his crew are great! Last year they painted all the trim on my house, and power washed the siding, and did a great job (see my prior review of this job). While panting the casement windows on my garage, Raul realized that the lower sash on one window had terrible wood rot. He recommended replacing the sash, and I agreed. He ordered the new sash, but then had an appendicitis attack, and had to go into the hospital. Raul called me from the hospital (!) to explain what had happened, and apologized (I assured him there was no needfor an apology!). As soon as he was able, he contacted me and then came over to prime and paint the window. It was a small job, I know, but again exemplified how responsive and professional JR Painting is.

 + -1 moreVery mehhh. They came out on time to do the job, but just didn't really do all that great of a job powerwashing. The areas lower on the vinyl siding were fine, but they simply sprayed the power washer up from the ground to reach the higher points of the house. This siding remained dirty, it was probably about as useful as a hose at that point. They should have gotten on a ladder or else said they couldn't complete the job - not do a subpar job and still take my money. I would not use them again.

He seemed a little worried that i was expecting more than he could deliver for the money, and there was some question as to who was paying for the paint. i did not expect the work to cover the paint, so there was problem.  + 1 moreIt didn't go anywhere. He never followed up with me to schedule anything, never declined the job that he accepted - he just ignored me! Lovely. Business must be great for this guy because I have a huge old home, and all of it is in less than perfect shape. I would have hired an affordable painter over and over again, for different jobs, as my budget allowed. I was left wondering if I could face any sort of repercussions for using another provider after I'd signed and accepted a bid with this guy. I had my home painted in June by Fortune Restoration - they were more expensive but did a FANTASTIC job.
Description of Work: I contacted the provider on March 16, 2014 to ask if someone would come to my home, and let me know if I could purchase the Big Deal being offered for exterior painting, and use it toward work on my 3 story house. Raul Villa came out on March 20 and looked everything over. He took until April 8 to send me a bid, which seemed extremely affordable (I have a 3,500+ sq. ft Queen Anne from the 1890s, with five exterior colors, and the bid was $2,635). I signed and returned the bid a week later on April 16, after emailing back and forth to verify two details (he confirmed that the bid did include power washing as well as two coats of paint). When I sent it, I asked for his best guess for when the work might begin. He responded that day (4/16) with simply "Thanks for the dates I will call you as soon as we will start the exterior to set up the time okay" - I wrote back and just said thank you. Three weeks later on May 7th, I emailed him simply "Hi - Any news on scheduling this exterior painting?" He wrote back the following day "Hi well we just started working outside last week with the exterior jobs I will let you know in a couple weeks we may start your Thanks" In a couple of weeks we MAY start yours?? Really. I responded also on May 8, "OK, can you give me an idea of how many homes you will need to do, before you would get to mine? Last spring I set an appointment with someone to paint my home, and I waited for 6 weeks for them to start the job. They never did. I would like to get an idea of when this would start. Thanks!" Two days later he wrote back, "Hi as I told you when I met you the exterior work depends on weather and is going to be by the end of the month or next month when I can do your home we just started last week and we depend on weather" Then I responded, "I know - I completely understand about waiting for the right weather. What I'm wondering about, if you can tell me, is how many customers you have set before you can get to my house. Any idea? Thank you!" I never heard from him again. As you may be able to tell from other responses he's made to poor reviews, he isn't the kind of person who can accept any criticism. His "as I told you" attitude is obnoxious, seeing that what he told me was that he could probably start the job 'some time next month depending on weather' when we met in person in March. In May, he's saying he "may" start my job, and says possibly the end of May, or maybe June. He doesn't seem to have liked the fact that I followed up with him, but clearly it was justified.

 + -1 moreRaul at JR Painting is very professional and quite easy to work with. We added to the exterior house painting, painting of our intricate steel fence and three exterior steel staircases. The cost for this added work was reasonable based on other proposals received. It was several months from the time of attaining Raul?s proposals until we began work, as we had to reschedule him due to conflicts. Raul was very flexible to meet our changing schedule. Work got off to a bit of a slow start, but progressed well with few missed days (often due to rain forecast), and finished in a reasonable amount of time. There were a few items that we had to have Raul correct before final payment. But he was agreeable and finished all work a few days thereafter. I recommend JR Painting.
Description of Work: Paint exterior of house, two new colors. Paint steel fence and gates. Paint three exterior steel staircases.

 + 0 moreThis was a really great experience, all things considered. My wife and I have been in our house for several months and have taken on most of the painting duties ourselves. We were not, however, able to paint our 17.5" staircase and our Master Bedroom with vaulted ceilings. I found the $399 Angie's List Big Deal for 2 painters 8 hours each (16 hours total). I was a little nervous on what to expect with a deal that is time-based instead of quantity-based, (and my fears were partly accurate--more on that below), but they did work quickly and do a very nice job. The two painters were also incredibly courteous and respectful. They laid down drop cloth everywhere they'd be walking and even asked to use the bathroom and if they could play music. We were happy with the job they did and the amount that they got accomplished. They were appreciative the I was prepared for them with paint and moving of furniture as well as the water and soda I had for them at the ready. My only complaint is that they took a 1 hour lunch but did not make up for that time by staying long enough later. So all in all, they arrived at 8:20 AM, went out to lunch promptly at 12 noon and returned to work at just about 1:00. Then at the end of the day, they left at 4:30 PM. I understand people need to eat, but I paid for 16 hours of labor--not 14. Not a huge deal, but these guys are professionals and what they can do in one hour would probably take my wife and myself three hours. Would have been great if they could have started on the next room for us to then take over, but whatever. Net/net - very friendly, courteous, helpful, hard working, and talented. My advice would be to establish the work hours and the lunch questions right as they arrive to manage everyone's expectations. I would hire again at an hourly rate without question.

Said he'd give me a quote in a day or two. I waited and waited, finally asked a month and a half later if he was ever going to give me a quote. His answer it was my fault, I didn't give him an email address. Mind you, he is EMAILING me this reprimand. Very unprofessional and obviously not needing my job.
