Fabrication and installation of Granite, Quartz, Marble, Quarzite, and Soapstone counter tops. We offer sinks as well.
Bart carefully measured and templated the space. The fabrication was impeccable including a complex 6" deep 12" high mitered box backsplash. Bart's crew did the installation quickly, precisely and cleanly. A year and some months later, I am still satisfied and impressed with Bart's teams work.

I found Granite Design of Midwest from Angie's List. My cabinet maker coincidentally recommended the same company. When I sent my counter dimensions to several granite fabricators for an estimate, Bart responded quickly with estimates on different types of granite and design. He recommended a couple of warehouses for us to pick the slabs. After I chose my slabs and when kitchen cabinets were installed, one of Bart's employees came to my house to take the measurement. The sink's dimension was a tight fit to the cabinets, so he suggested to cut the cabinets to put the sink in. Having just installed brand new cabinets, I really hated to cut a big hole on cabinets. I called Brad and expressed my concerns. Brad agreed that they wouldn't cut the cabinets until they at least gave a trial to fit the sink in. One week after they took the measurement, the crew came to install the countertop. Even my contractor was surprised how quickly they scheduled the work. In the end, they didn't cut my cabinets, which made me very happy. The quality of their work was good, too. During the measurement, I asked for a small piece of granite to install under the window case. They agreed to install this piece for free. However, when they came, they realized the dimension was wrong. So they went back and made a new piece and came out one more time and installed for me - all for free. My entire experience with Granite Design of Midwest was very good. I wouldn't hesitate to hire them again.

It was an excellent process from beginning to end. Bart came out to look at the job and gave me an estimate very promptly, which was very reasonable compared with others I had received. I went to a granite warehouse to choose my slabs which also went very smoothly. They had my specifications, knew about the job and were very helpful. The installation was scheduled to suit my needs; the team arrived close to the expected time, worked efficiently and were done in a few hours. Bart coordinated with a plumber so that sink installation was done at the appropriate time, with the installation of the counter tops. Bart was very responsive to my concerns about making sure the sealer was given the right time to soak in, and sent me good instructions for care of the product. Replacing countertops is not something I hope to repeat for a long time, but would definitely go back to Granite Design if I need work like this done again, and highly recommend them to others.

We highly recommend Bart and Granite Design of Midwest. We called for an estimate and Bart came out and took some quick measurements. We let him know the 2 granite types we were deciding between. He provided us with a very quick detailed proposal and listed several granite yards we could visit to select our slab. The price was excellent and we were pleased with Bart's expertise when we met him as well as their Anigie's list reviews. We selected our granite slab and Bart came back to take more precise measurements and pick up the sink we had selected with its template. They were busy with other jobs at the time but were still able to do our installation within 2 weeks. There was excellent communication throughout the entire process. The installers did an excellent job, were very professional, and cleaned up when they were finished. Our job required one seem and they did a very nice job on the seem. It is barely visble. We had to coordinate our own plumber to follow up with the installation of the faucet and sink drains etc. Our plumber ran into a small problem with the location of one of the faucet holes being ever-so-slightly off. I contacted Bart and he really stepped up and put my mind at ease and helped with what turned out to be a really simple resolution to the problem. He is a real standup and trustworthy guy. We are extremely pleased with the final product and cannot say enough good things about our experience with Bart and his installation crew. We would recommend them to anyone looking for granite installation.

Being able to find small businesses who do high quality work at a reasonable price like this one is the reason that I'm a member of Angie's List. I made an appointment with Bart and he came when he said that he would and brought samples. From the sample that I liked he was able to get a good idea of what we wanted and he e-mailed afterward to let me know that he had a scrap piece of granite at his shop that would work if we wanted it. We went to the shop and Agnes and Magda showed it to us and we agreed that it was just right. We then made an appointment for the measurement to be done and that was taken care of as promised. The installation was done this week in one short visit and the installers were efficient, professional and cleaned up when they were done. We are very pleased with the entire experience and would recommend this company to anyone who is looking for a no hassle, quality company. Regarding price, what Bart charged for the job seemed to be exactly what it should have been. We have a very small kitchen but I had been told by two other companies that they had to charge a minimum price- regardless of the size of the job- or it wouldn't be worthwhile for them to take on the project.

I had initially contacted this company for a quote in January for interior kitchen countertops. Bart came and measured, provided me with samples and recommended working with Caesarstone if I were to go with quartz as they have the best customer service and reputation. Ultimately, I chose Cambria and could not work with Granite Design as they do not fabricate/install this product. Bart and Magda did provide me with a very competitive quote for countertops, and had I selected any countertop other than Cambria, I would have hired them for this job. Fast forward to September 2012...we were installing an outdoor kitchen grilling area that needed a granite countertop, so we called Granite Design back to come and give us a quote. We originally were working with Northwest Metalcraft (Arlington Heights, IL) for this project, and they were providing sub-contractors for the work. We wanted to re-purpose the granite from our old kitchen for this outdoor countertop, but it would have required having 4 seams to make it work. NWMetalcraft gave us a quote that seemed really high, so we called Bart and Magda. Initially, they gave us a quote that was 1/3 less, so we decided to work with them. Bart and Magda explained to us that sometimes it can actually be more costly to do several seams, so we agreed to go to their warehouse to look at possible remnants we could use for this project. Upon arrival, we discovered that they didn't have any remnants large enough to work for this countertop. Magda then suggested that we could either wait a few weeks to see if they had leftover remnants from another project they were still completing, or we could purchase an entire slab of granite for our project. She showed us the most economically priced granites should we decide to go this route. We originally intended to use a black granite, and we found the black pearl granite from her selection to be really appealing, so we chose to purchase a slab of it for this project. We were quoted $1200 for this slab initially. After Jaczk came to take accurate measurements, our invoice cost was lowered to $950 for the project. Compared with the $2400 we were quoted by NWMetalcraft when we had a similar conversation about purchasing a slab, we obviously chose to work with Granite Design. The countertop was fabricated in a week and installed immediately. When the installers came to complete this job, they brought the countertop that fit around the grill and a backsplash, however, the backsplash had been cut to only 4" high when our structure required a backsplash of about 10-12". We notified them of this error, and they immediately took the piece away and said they'd be back in a week to install the correct piece, no questions asked. I don't know how this mistake occurred, but they corrected it automatically and without problems. Today, the final piece was installed and the structure is exactly what we were hoping it to be. Finally, when my husband and I went to the warehouse to check out remnants, we had a conversation with Magda about a piece of new marble in our house that is honed and the importance of sealing it for protection. She sent the sealer with her crew and they sealed the marble for us at no additional cost. Furthermore, we had a tabletop fabricated out of the granite from our old kitchen, and it arrived in two pieces, needing to be seamed. The crew today seamed and sealed the top today at no additional cost. If this review doesn't convince you to work with Granite Design, I don't know what will! They were professional and very pleasant to work with, as well as very competitively priced and efficient. We will be referring them and will not hesitate to work with them again in the future.

Called Granite Design Of Midwest....spoke with Magda...Bart then called within the hour. Gave me an approximate estimate over the phone based on a particular color and approximate square footage. the following day he came to measure and take a template. He also suggested other like colors that would be cheaper and gave me 4 warehouses to visit to see and pick out slabs. Bart had the slab delivered to his shop on Monday...I went to the shop on tuesday to meet with Magda and she taped out the design on the slab so I could see how the pieces would actually look...The granite was installed by his crew on Friday ....Magda then emailed me a diagram of the salvageable pieces because I want to use them in different areas. Start to finish was about 10 days and was 300.00 less than original estimate.

Bart was wonderful to work with. We actually had an L-shaped counter installed as well as a side counter. The gentleman who came to measure once the cabinets were in was quick and professional. The installers (three of them) did the installation quickly, neatly, and were very professional. The L-shaped counter had a seam, and even though I saw where it was when they installed, I honestly couldn't find it afterwards! They were that good! Bart is fantastic to work with! I highly recommend this company.

This was a great experience from beginning to end. We can?t say enough about Bart and his crew. We got a very quick response from our very first inquiry. We had picked out a couple of slabs at a granite house recommended by Bart, but when the granite came to his shop he was worried about it because it had too many fissures and he was afraid it would break when they were cutting. We felt this was a very responsible move on his part. He sent us to another supplier to pick out another slab. We went immediately and Bart met us there the very next day to do the layout, preventing us having to go to his shop again -- and there was no delay in the projected install date because both of us acted expeditiously. I had lots of questions and e-mailed Bart often. He was always prompt in replying -it?s like you are his only customer. No question is too small. They also did a little something extra for us at no additional cost. We had a minor problem after the install. We e-mailed Bart and no questions asked he sent someone out the very next morning. The problem was fixed and we are very, very pleased. If you are looking for a responsible, experienced granite fabricator, go no further. We might add the plumber/carpenter/all around handy man, Eric they recommended was also very competent and helpful. Use them ? you will not be disappointed. We contacted Bart initially about quoting for white quartz counters in our kitchen. After changing our minds about the final product several times, we finally decided that natural quartzite was the best option for our project. We thought we settled on a color and Bart provided a sample for us to view at our home. After seeing the color in the house, we changed our mind on the color and he recommended that we view slabs at the supplier warehouse. After doing so, we settled on color, chose our slab, and were able to mark off the areas on the slab after they received it at their location. Bart found us a remnant in black granite for the bar area and installed everything a week later. They were patient with all the indecision on our part with product/color changes, and the installers/fabricators did a nice job fitting everything. We were very pleased from start to finish with the project.

Bart and his office emailed immediately with different levels of granite quotes based on the pictures I emailed. They sent me to a marble and granite warehouse to choose two slabs of granite to hold for me. After calling Bart, he came to measure and create a pattern for my new countertop which took about two hours. He took my new sink with him to fabricate the undercounter sink mount at his shop. Within two weeks, my old granite was removed and the new granite installed. The undercounter mount was perfect and the hole for my new faucet was cut that day. They sealed and cleaned it for me.

Bart was wonderful to work with from the very start of this project. He was extremely responsive and got back to me with answers to my questions almost immediately. He was always available by text or phone or email. He was truly a pleasure to work with. We selected two slabs at a granite yard and they only work with fabricators. Our kitchen designer had recommended a fabricator and after we received their very high quote I called Bart after finding him her on Angie's List. Bart's quote was much more affordable and based on all the great reviews we selected him. They purchased the stone from the stone yard on our behalf and stored it at their location until we were ready. Once we were ready for countertops, they quickly came out to measure and installed the new granite very quickly. We even went to their shop to template the granite because there were certain pieces we wanted in certain locations. They had a very qualified team of installers do the installation and everything went very smoothly. The granite looks beautiful and we are very happy with the entire experience. If I ever need a stone fabricator again or have the opportunity to recommend one to a friend, I would chose Bart and Granite Design of Midwest.

In conjunction with remodeling a small bathroom using Neighborhood Remodelers as the general contractor, we obtained a marble remnant from Granite Design for the vanity counter top. Magda quickly found a piece of marble which was very similar to the tile we had selected for the shower and floor. They came out to make a template, cut the marble to order and installed it in a timely and efficient manner to fit into the timeline of the project. We don't plan to do any more remodeling jobs, but if we did we would certainly use this company. We didn't try pricing or selection from any other vendors, but the price we paid is what we expected to pay based on the general contractor's suggestion.

The top of the knee wall next to the bathroom granite vanity was plain and not at all level. Our condo is new and I asked the developer's granite person if they could take a look at it. They couldn't be bothered. After searching Angie's List, I contacted Granite Designs and Jack was here the next day to give me an estimate. It would only take a small piece -- 6" x 30" -- and Jack indicated that because the pattern and color are fairly common, they might have a remnant. Indeed they did and one week later Jack was here to install it. I think it took him no more than 30 minutes and it looks beautiful.
Description of Work: We had a very small job for them -- very small. The top of a knee wall that is six inches wide by 30 inches long needed granite that matched the vanity top next to it. Fortunately, the granite pattern and color is not unique and, even better, Granite Designs had a remnant they could cut to fit. Installation was a breeze and it looks amazing.

Everything went very well. Of all the companies that I requested quotes from Bart was one of the quickest to respond. His price was in range with others and not necessarily the cheapest but he was very responsive and knowledgable which is why I went with him. I was thankful he recommended that I steer clear from my top granite choice due to the issues it would have. Once I had everything picked out - the counter tops were in with a week and they look great!!!!!! I used volga blue from UGM (which included a free 16 gauge sink!) and it is all very beautiful. There is one small spec (about 1/2 inch in dimeter) that looks like a blemish. Jack came out and he assured me that it is a piece of metal in the stone. I loved that I had to put in no thought about the plumber - it was all coordinated through Bart. Would definitely recommend that others go with Bart + team!

Description of Work: Bart came to measure for our new countertop within a day of us calling him.. He recommended places for us to go to get our quartzite and his crew came within 10 days to install our new kitchen counter. They installed 2 pieces of quartzite perfectly and aligned the sink perfectly. Our new counter is gorgeous! We noted imperfections in the finish of the stone which came from the supplier. Even though this was not Bart's responsibility he came out and fixed this minor problem promptly until we were satisfied. Bart is professional, easy to work with and is very knowledgable in his field. We are using him again for our bathroom remodeling job and we know it will be beautiful.

I had a difficult time finding granite slabs that I liked, so Bart sent me a whole list of warehouses in the Chicago area. After finding one I loved and sending them my new floorplan, he took it from there. Once the cabinets were installed, he came out the next day and measured for the counters, picked up the sink, and was ready to finalize layout the next day. 2 days to cut and polish and 3 hours to install.Very convenient location for folks in the city to go to the warehouse and oversee the layout (very happy I didn't have to drive to the suburbs!) Very professional & clean crew. Highly recommended and I would definitely use them again.
