 + -1 moreAfter I looked them up on Angie's List, I also noticed that they offered this discount for Angie's List members as well. What upset me even more was when I went to open the paper they had an advertisement in there also offering ANYONE the same $30 discount that they were going to give me as a "preferred" customer. I feel that if I am an preferred customer, they should offer a special discount, and not one that is available to everyone.
Description of Work: I contacted this company because they sent me a letter in the mail stating that I was a preferred customer and as such I would be able to receive $30 off a cooling check up.

However when they followed up on the quote and I explained that I used another contractor, the estimator became aggressive, belligerent, and said that "he thought we had a agreement." I told him that I never agreed to anything and in fact that he knew I was getting estimates. (Hello Angies!) He then SWORE and hung up the phone. He just proved that I made the right choice!!

The installers were professional and cleaned up after themselves very well. They followed my request about where to place the compressors outside and they were friendly and hardworking.
Description of Work: Installed two 3.5 ton; 14 seer; lennox air conditioning systems and two power humidifiers (AprilAire model 700) on my furnaces. This was a new installation since I did not have central air prior to this installation.

 + -1 moreI called them and asked if they give free estimates for moving my outside garden AC unit a couple of yards closer to the house, they said that they would have to charge me a service fee in order for them to come and give me an estimate of the actual work. I then said, 'ok, thanks, but I'm looking for a free estimate'. In a few minutes, after I hung up the phone, I got a call back from them (they got my phone # from their caller ID), and they apologized saying the person whom I had talked to was new and didn't know that they do give free estimates. We then arranged for a day and time for them to come and give me the estimate. The technician canceled the first appointment the day of the appointment, but rescheduled for the next day, so I got the estimate. However, I didn't choose to go with them as it was very expensive.
Description of Work: I need to move the outside unit of my AC 2 yards closer to the house.

 + -1 moreJesus called me to tell me he was on his way and would be at my house in 20 minutes. When he arrived, he checked everything out and let it run for approximately 30 minutes. He told me something just needed to be cleaned. He did that, and the heat came back on. He just charged me for the service call, not for anything else, as he told me nothing else seemed to be the matter. However, he told me if it went out again, to call and I would not be charged for a second service call. I was extremely pleased as he could have told me I needed a new furnace and I wouldnt have known otherwise. When it comes to home repairs of any kind, honesty is a BIG factor, especially for a single woman.
Description of Work: My furnace went out at 11 p.m. I called and they were willing to send someone out within 3 to 4 hours to fix it, but I didnt want to stay up all night, so I called the next day. Initially, I set up the appointment for 8:30 p.m., as thats when I thought I would be home. However, the phone representative told me to call if I got home earlier and she would send someone sooner. I got home at 6:30 p.m., called, and a technician showed up within an hour.

 + -1 moreAfter calling in late Monday afternoon, I was able to get an appointment the next day. I was given a window from 9am-12pm. The service tech showed up at 8:30am.
Description of Work: Added Freon into my AC unit. The A-coil had been freezing up, and after doing a little investigation this is what I figured needed to be done. He let the system run for a good 20 minutes or so to determine that there was not an immediate leak in the system that would require further work.

He was also proactive in checking on the humidifier filter which required immediate replacement. He had me clean the filter casing which I thought was strange since I thought he should be doing that. But since everything else was going fine, I didn't mind it. I received an Angie's List discount which was very nice.

 + -1 moreI called Four Seasons and immediately spoke with a person who said that someone would be calling within 45 minutes. This is at 9:45pm on a Saturday night!! True to their word, Don called within 30 minutes and verified where my house was. When he arrived he was extremely professional. He went straight to the furnace after taking time to listen to me describe the problem and immediately diagnosed the issue as a broken igniter valve. He did not have the replacement part in his van, but a coworker did, and drove it out to him while he waited in his van. (I did offer to let him stay in my house, but he wanted to straighten out his van.) Once the part arrived, Don was in and out and my heat was back in business. The cost was $65 for the service call (even though it was late at night) and $195 for the new igniter valve.
Description of Work: Don came out at 10:30pm on a Saturday night. It was $65 for the service visit itself. He took a look at my furnace and diagnosed the problem immediately as a broken igniter valve. He gave the price list for the part at $195 and made the repair.

water heater repair
 + -1 moreThey were responsive, but they are definitely focused on the heating and air conditioning, not the water heaters. They had one water heater that they seem to install for all their customers and had little information about other options. We were looking for an efficient water heater because of rising energy costs, but they were not very well-informed in this area. We were left with almost as many questions as we had going in, and still haven't had the work done. We will probably go with a company that is more familiar with the products.
Description of Work: Came to give us an estimate on a replacement water heater. We were not looking for emergency service, just for a new water heater because of problems with our existing heater. They sent out a representative within a week.

 + -1 moreSalesman was informed about the products and spent sufficient time explaining the products and different available options. Easy to deal with, and scheduled when I wanted the installation without a down payment. Install took longer than I expected and I would have liked the water line installed differently,but it was not done in a way that I would have it re-done. The installers were very nice to work with,however one was inexperienced. The installers had to come back to complete one part of the install as they needed special wiring for the t-stat. Neither of the installers were familiar with the T-stat and one took his time to make sure of the installation by reading the manual. Overall they did a good job.
Description of Work: New furnace, a/c, humidifier, and t-stat installation.

 + -1 moreAfter calling several companies (and spending lots of time waiting for someone to call back). I called Four Seasons, let me explain the circumstances. It was 12AM Jan. 3. The temperature was -7 degrees and the wind chill was -25. The lady at Four Seasons promised me a call back from a tech. within the hour. Lo and behold Mr. Tabor DID call back (in 45 minutes) and said he would be there in an hour to an hour and a half. Not only was he on time he figured out the problem, repaired it, and waited to make sure the system was operating properly, at 3:45AM he left. I was charged no extra and paid only for the call and misc. repair. I wish I could tell you how grateful I was to Four Seasons and Mr. Tabor for their wonderful service. I know when I need any type of heat or A/C work done I will call Four Seasons.
Description of Work: Diagnosed problem with furnace cutting off. Cleaned and made sure the unit was operating properly.

 + -1 moreService repairman completely diagnosed problem incorrectly. Wanted to charge us $565 for a $165 control board and 10 minutes worth of labor. Nothing wrong with our control board. We paid $65 for service call as well as $165 for control board (on our own) part cannot be returned. Paid for a second opinion, turns out there was nothing wrong with any part- just a dirty induction motor, that's it. Called company, met with indifference and arrogance.

 + -1 moreAll went well. I scheduled two days in advance and was a little disappointed that they could only give a 4 hour window, but it is the dead of winter and they emphasized the heavy volume right now.
Description of Work: Assessed poor air flow through home. Replaced a switch and it made a huge difference. They also took the time to educate us about our furnace maintenance and what all the components and buttons are for.

 + -1 moreThis company was extremely professional. They told me what they planned to do, at what cost, and then did it! In addition to the boilers, they replaced the piping for the first-floor unit and added a thermostat. They were so on top of things, that shortly after I agreed to go ahead with the job, someone from the company stopped by with a permit; I didn't even have to ask for one!
Description of Work: I called Four Seasons when the boiler in our two-flat broke. Joe Holewa, a sales representative/estimator, agreed to stop by the same day. He gave me two quotes: 1) to replace the existing boiler and 2) to separate the heating in the two units by replacing the current boiler with two smaller boilers. Both quotes were competitive with others we received. When I told him that we had been told that splitting the system could be difficult (and costly), and that we could not afford surprises in cost, he said he did not believe the job would be difficult, but that to be on the safe side he would send someone the next day (an installer with experience) to make sure that the job was as he had scoped. The next morning the installer came by and confirmed Joe's estimate. He explained the job to me so clearly that I knew he knew what he was doing! We agreed to go ahead with the job - the installation was incredibly professional! I highly recommend this company!

 + -1 moreThe sales, installation, and follow-up were outstanding. The work was performed just as agreed. The installers were nice, competent, and highly professional. They worked for 10 hours and offered to complete the job (by installing the coil) that night. We declined, so they could get some well-deserved sleep. They returned to complete the job within two days, at our election, and even brought a new programmable thermostat which they installed. They cleaned up a removed all debris and were as neat and polite as could be. Within a few days, we felt a slight adjustment was necessary. The company promptly sent out Mike, a field supervisor, who was highly knowledgeable and was able to determine immediately, what adjustments to make. When he left, everything was working perfectly. Not only is our heating working as promised; uniform on all level, but we haven't seen dust since we installed the air cleaners! Wonderful experience and we highly recommend them.
Description of Work: We replaced a furnace with a 2-stage variable unit, put in a new coil, added two electronic air cleaners, and an ultraviolet light.

 + -1 moreFurnace went out in the middle of the night. Several other "24-hour emergency" heating services we contacted at 2:00 am couldn't respond until the next day, but Four Seasons had a man there in just over 1 hour. He immediately found the problem (a vacuum line) and patched it together to work until he could get a replacement, which another service man returned with the next morning. It turned out the heat exchanger was also falling apart, so the entire furnace needed replacing. Four Seasons completely replaced the old furnace with a comparable (high efficiency) new one in only one day, charging only for the furnace, not charging for the initial repair, and providing a substantial discount over list price. Several servicemen were involved at different points and all were pleasant and competent, except that their warehouse did send an incorrect part at one point, so there was a temporary delay.
Description of Work: Called for emergency service to gas furnace that quit in the middle of the night. Affected temporary repair and restored heat immediately, and ordered part for permanent repair. Attempting to install part next day, found that the rest of the furnace needed to be replaced. Completely replaced the old furnace with a new one the following day.
