In terms of annual maintenance I think they do a good job, nothing exceptional, but when I did replacements they gave me the best price and warranty.
Description of Work: I use them for heating & A/C services and they visited us last for annual maintenance work. They also installed a new water heater and furnace for me.

Received a quote which was slightly higher than the local vendor I finally selected. I received a follow-up phone message saying that they would not loose the job based on price. While the quote was fair, I would have preferred to receive their "best offer" the first time around. Salesman, Dave, was professional and knowledgeable.

This was the first time we had used Four Seasons, and I was very pleased with them. When I originally scheduled the appointment I only asked for a routine furnace check, but then I remembered we wanted a programmable thermostat installed and so I called back the same day and the receptionist said she would add it to my service request. It didn't seem to be on the information the repairman had, but it was not a problem. He had the thermostat with him and installed it for us.

I scheduled a much needed furnace cleaning before the winter months were upon me. The technician was very friendly and gladly climbed up to my lofted area to service my furnace. He noticed that two key pieces (a pressure valve and the started component) were worn out and needed to be replaced. Not only did I get a great deal on the cleaning, but he called his supervisor and offered to take $150 off the repair if we did it right away. He returned in a few hours with the parts and new filters and completed the job. Great work - will always use!

They put a new furnace instead of an old one. They worked very hard, as it was a complicated procedure. They did exactly what they said they were going to do and the work done was fine. I never compared their prices with any other company. We needed a furnace since it was getting cold and everything had drowned at that time. They were recommended to me by somebody else.

I had a good idea what the problem was, because I had a similar issue with my three year old A/C compressor last summer. There is a leak somewhere in the system and it either had to be repaired or refilled with R-22 refrigerant. I called Four Seasons and an appointment was setup for within hours of when I called. So far, so good. The technician came, was pleasant, and for the most part on time. He checked the pressure level in the compressor and, indeed, it was low on R-22 (Freon). We discussed the process by which they could check the piping and overall A/C system for leaks (which would have cost $800, somewhat inexplicably, but I don't know how involved this process is) but the technician advised against this given the cost and the necessity to cut into walls if they found something in the piping. So he recommended filling the compressor with R-22 and seeing how long it lasts into next season. He told me R-22 was $85 per pound-which seemed really high to me but I'm not an HVAC specialist-what do I know? I did, however, know a little, because I had North Star (another company) come out the previous year and they did the same recharge for $25 per pound. The technician said the price has gone up a lot in the last year.. hmm, really? Seems like all other commodities have gone way down since Summer '08 - but Four Seasons is a reputable company (they advertise at Bears games, after all, they can't be ripping me off so blatantly for a commodity gas chemical?) - but yes, they were. After confirming with another A/C service company that the other company (North Star) charges $25 per pound, I just felt hosed. And I was. Further research indicates that industrial gas suppliers charge $200 for a 30 pound tank of R-22 or $7 per pound versus $85 that I was charged. So Four Seasons H&C is charging a 1200% markup on a commodity gas product - it'd be one thing if they didn't charge such a premium for their labor and appearance fees, I'd be more sympathetic to them making it up in the gas supply.. but in addition to the $79 service charge their assessed a $72 "calibration" charge to load the gas. This is preposterous-what, they aren't making enough of a margin on the Freon?? I'm a businessman (not in the HVAC business so no axe to grind here!), I understand the way the world works - but this is just crooked. Charge me for your labor, for your technicians time, for your office overhead, maybe a premium for good service, but don't charge a 1200% markup on a commodity gas because the consumer isn't educated in the latest market pricing of R-22. That'd be like the corner Shell station charging you $12 per gallon the 93 octane he buys for $2.50. Or Peoples Gas charging you $30 a therm for natural gas when they are paying $3. It's a commodity!! Just wrong. You can't take advantage of consumers who don't have the ability to price shop in the opaque world of HVAC services. Especially after the technician is at your house and they are into you for $79 appearance charge that you'll have to pay someone else if they come out. You can surely bet I will in the future, and hopefully everyone else will too after reading this article because charging $85 per pound for R-22 is just plain highway robbery, and Four Seasons does it with impunity. Do not use this Company because if they can fleece you on R-22 just think about the pain they can inflict on higher ticket items. I called the customer service department to complain and they had no idea the price gouging that was going on: "that's just what the owner wants to charge" was what I was told. "How can you justify it?" I ask.. "I cannot". That's right, because it's not justifiable. I considered stopping payment on my check because I was so infuriated. But I won't, after all, I was told the price beforehand (like it meant anything to me, at least at the time) and I tacitly agreed to it, so this was a legal rip-off, but a rip-off nonetheless. Price gouging is against the law, and I'm not sure what this is if not gouging. I did ensure the customer service rep that I would be telling anyone who would listen about this situation to bring this way off-market pricing to the light of day. Maybe they think because I live in Lincoln Park I won't notice or care and they can ring the register, but this will be well known.

I could not be happier with the choice I made to use Four seasons. Bart came out on Thursday to diagnose the problems. Though I was already anticipating having to replace the units he gave me several options. It was a second opinion which I am glad I got because although the diagnosis was the same I was given more choices and ultimately paid alot less for the solution after being jerked around by another company! Edwaurdo and his partner showed up the next morning and worked a long tweleve hour day until the work was completed. He went through the completed job with me answering all my questions. When they left I had air conditioning and a wonderful new furnace! This was a completely smooth transition from old to new and I paid exactly what was quoted to me. Thank you so much for great experience!!!!

The house was on the market and the home inspector of the prospective buyer said that there was condensation coming out of the furnace, so we hired them to take a look. The technicians realized that there was nothing wrong with the furnace and that it was coming from the water heater, so they installed a new water heater on the same day.

After placement of a new furnace from this company, the central air conditioner started making a loud "booming" sound when the compressor turned on and off. Mr. Terry Leland discovered the problem. The air ducts around the furnace were flexing, causing the noise. He applied customized external bracing to the ducts around the furnace unit and checked the blower speed on the new unit I had just purchased in February, 2009. Mr. Leland found the blower speed to be incorrect. He then adjusted the speed to the proper setting by switching wires around inside the furnace. My air conditioner now cools my house like it never did before, just because of his blower adjustments. He took the time to tell me everything he was doing and why he was doing it. He explained everything. He was very professional and thorough and I am very happy with his service. Yaaaaa!

My air conditioner went out. They came in on a Sunday around noon, discovered that I need a new AC (the old one was 20 years old), had a crew at my house by 2pm and had a new AC installed the same day. I am sure I paid a premium for Sunday service but it was worth it to get it fixed in 1 day.

We came home one freezing winter night and the furnace would try to turn on but not ignite. We usually use another heating company that we LOVE and found on Angie's List but they don't do after hours service. So we called Four Seasons out of the phone book - BIG MISTAKE. A workman arrived after about an hour and I told him it was probably the igniter. He said he "tested it" and the igniter was fine, but the furnace was dirty so he cleaned it out. When he was finished, the furnace was working again. So we paid him and he went on his way. Then a week later - same thing happened another freezing cold night! We called them again and explained that whatever they did the first time didn't work and would they please come back. They came back again (different guy this time) and this worker tested the igniter AGAIN, said it was fine AGAIN, put it back AGAIN, and and the furnace turned on. We refused to pay them because I wasn't about to believe the same BS twice. In the end, I ended up calling my trusty heating company who came out, tested the igniter with their more advanced equipment, and found it to be malfunctioning. They also said Four Seasons did a crummy job cleaning the furnace and cleaned it again for a minimal charge. So my trusty heating company got the job done and the furnace has worked great ever since. I would rather freeze for a night than call Four Seasons again. I can't believe the positive reviews on here because they were horrible! The workers that came to the house were polite but didn't know what they were doing and didn't have the best equipment. The staff at the main office weren't great either.
Description of Work: They were SUPPOSED to fix our furnace - after two tries, they didn't accomplish the job and we didn't call them again.

My heater had been working but had not been on in a month and then wouldn't go on so I called. Very nice guy came out promptly but he took one look and saw some corrosion and said that looks like water damage and said he couldn't do anything. The AC works, the blower blows, it just wouldn't ignite for the heater, the diagnostic lights were blinking with what was wrong even.. So for doing nothing but saying he couldn't do anything I was charged for a service call. I called a friend who came over, cleaned 2 contacts and it works just fine now, what a waste calling 4 seasons. Lesson learned - make sure it's a FREE estimate.

When getting the estimate, our salesman, John O'Brien, was very thorough in explaining how these newer units operated and the differences between them and the old units. He seemed very knowledgable and was not one of those guys who exaggerate the energy savings you can expect when changing systems. They were able to install right away. The installers came out about 8:50 am and didn't leave until around 10:00 pm. I was a little surprised it took that long but as long as everything works fine and its done right, who cares. They do have an excellent warranty program. Right now its too cold for a/c and too warm for heat, so we'll have to wait a little bit to use everything. The thermostat they originally brought collided with our old humidifier controller so they switched out another model a day later. They were very accomodating when I called to schedule this - I called the next day after the install, and they came out the next morning to do the switch.

Horrible. They did come when asked. The first woman I spoke to had a bit of an attitude on the phone. The service guy arrived and told me my circuit board was bad and that it would cost $600 to replace. I was shocked because my unit is 2 years old. He told me my furnace is a "piece of c***." I asked if it would be under warranty and he told me no, they only have a one year warranty. I purchased the circuit board and scheduled the service. I then happened to discuss the issue with someone else who told me generally all furnaces have a 5 year warranty. At that time became a bit distrustful and canceled the service. Four Seasons refunded the cost for the circuit board but advised they would be charging me for the service call. I have spoken with Four Seasons on multiple occasions. If the service person had told me that he did not know what the warranty was, I would understand the service call charge. However, he actively misrepresented to me the warranty and I am beginning to think it was solely so that he could charge me a significant fee to do the work. I don't care if it is a $20 fee or a $200 fee, that I am paying a "service fee" to have someone actively misrepresent something is shady at best. Today I had another furnace company out. I had a contactor which shorted a fuse. It cost me $90. My circuit board was just fine. Four Seasons has said if I fax them information showing that the circuit board is not bad they will consider refunding the service fee. It does not make any sense to me that their servicemen can make active misrepresentations for which they can charge a service fee, but if I can show that they misdiagnosed the situation then perhaps they will refund the service fee. In both cases I am not receiving any usable service. In fact, had I not checked into the situation, what they are essentially telling me is that I would have paid them at least $600, when I otherwise would not have had to do so as far as I can tell Four Seasons believes it is okay for their service people to make misrepresentations to their clients and for Four Seasons to collect money from their customers based upon those misrepresentations. I am frustrated, disappointed and now seriously questioning the integrity of Four Seasons.

Response from Four Seasons Heating & Air Conditioning
There is no reason whatsoever to question the integrity of Four Seasons Heating & Air Conditioning. The aspect of customer service that on which we pride ourselves MOST is our integrity and our willingness to stand behind our work. She has wrongfully accused Four Seasons of making “active misrepresentations”. Her accusations are unfounded and are without merit. Please consider the following before deciding that Four Seasons has anything less than a 100% dedication to customer service, honesty and integrity. Four Seasons’ technician had absolutely nothing to profit by misrepresenting the warranty on her furnace. Four Seasons did not install the furnace and is not the warranty service provider for the furnace. Four Seasons was called by her to perform an emergency chargeable service call on a piece of equipment that it did not install or warranty. Four Seasons has nothing to do with any warranty she may or may not have and any work performed on her furnace which we did not install is certainly chargeable. Four Seasons’ technician had absolutely nothing to profit by “making an active misrepresentation” by stating that her furnace had a faulty circuit board which needed to be replaced. In fact, every Four Seasons’ technician is held to the highest ethical standards. Misrepresentations are something for which the management at Four Seasons has a zero tolerance policy. All technicians upon hire (and once yearly thereafter) must sign a legal document which states that they will NEVER sell ANYTHING to ANY customer that the customer does not need or want. This is not to say that a Four Seasons technician is not capable of making a mistake. There is a big difference between a misdiagnosis and an “active misrepresentation”. On the rare occasions when a Four Seasons technician makes an honest mistake, Four Seasons stands behind its work, sometimes to a fault. When there exists even the POSSIBILITY of a mistake on the part of a Four Seasons employee, the customer is issued a full and prompt refund, along with an apology and coupons for future service. She is entitled to and has been offered these same concessions. The only thing that Four Seasons has asked for in return is a copy of the work order from the unnamed “other company” that allegedly determined that the circuit board was not bad and that the problem was a shorted fuse. She has refused to provide the documentation. She has been refunded all of the money that she spend with Four Seasons less the $79.00 diagnostic fee, which included the travel time to and from her home and the time it took for our technician to go through her entire system to identify the problem. Four Seasons did not retain the restocking fee that it was entitled to. Four Seasons would also be more than happy to refund the diagnostic fee if the technician made a diagnostic mistake. However, it is not reasonable to ask a service company to refund money based on an unproven accusation of “active misrepresentation.” It is Four Seasons position that she is saying and doing anything within her power to not pay her bill for services rendered EXCEPT what is reasonable, which is to provide the documentation from the other service company proving that we made a mistake. Her complaint is littered with exaggerations and misrepresentations of her own including the fact that the woman on the phone had a “bit of an attitude” and that the technician said that her furnace is a “piece of “piece of c***.” No Four Seasons employee would ever speak to a customer in such a manner. It is our opinion that these statements are being manufactured only to bolster or lend credibility to her unfounded complaint about Four Seasons. To summarize, Four Seasons is willing and ready to reimburse all monies paid by her and to accept full responsibility for a misdiagnosis, if such a misdiagnosis occurred, as soon as she is willing to share the documentation that a misdiagnosis ever occurred. To date, she has refused to do so and Four Seasons as a result stands behind the diagnosis of its technician and admits NO FAULT.

Well---it started off as a terrible experience but in the end Four Seasons far exceeded my expectations. What are the odds???? A fire started when worker was welding---I didn't know there was hay in ceiling of addition utility room (old building) / It was not a large fire but fire department came and to ensure fire didn't spread through the walls, they tore apart some walls. 11:00 pm get a call from my tennants that I need to come asap. Next day Four Season was right on top of the issue and called in JC Restoration ASAP. I was extremely pleased. Four Seasons Rep (Mike Morrison) helped make this experience less stressful and was on top of getting things rectified.

I called Four Seasons b/c our furnace was clicking on but heat wasn't always coming out of the vents, it was spotty. When the repairman got here he diagnosed it as being dirty and the sensor was not always picking up the proper temperature, therefore not always turning on. He cleaned the sensor area & surrounding area which allowed the furnace to work properly. He then cleaned the A/C unit for the season. My problem came with the bill. When I called, I mentioned the coupons that I had. The informed me that there is a $75 service call fee that is removed when the work is completed. In addition to that I had a coupon for another $35 off a repair. He didn't want to honor the $35 off coupon trying to tell me that the company was giving me an even greater deal by offering me the $75 off of the service fee. I explained that they already said they would do that in addition to the coupon. Also, he charged me the full $119 cleaning fee for the furnace but admitted that he didn't really do a full cleaning (ie: vacuum it out), he just kind of dusted off the area that had some dirt on it. I feel b/c we were charged the full $119 cleaning fee, we should have gotten a full cleaning. He eventually agreed to the $35 off coupon, but only after I explained what the company said on the phone. I feel as if he was trying to scam me on this cost. In the end, they did resolve the problem, but I'm now skeptical of the quality of work that was performed, including the A/C cleaning, which was finished so quickly. I'd forewarn anyone who is planning on using them to get a full detail of costs and how the coupons work BEFORE having a service call.

From the salesman to the installer I could not be more pleased. They did good work and cleaned up like they were never there. The installer explained my new furnace and how it operated. Also he had pride in his work. You just don't see that alot anymore. I was very pleased with them.

I use them because I bought the furnace from them and it is still under warranty. I have used them before and they were responsive and solved the problem.
Description of Work: I used Four Seasons Heating & Air to look at my furnace. They gave me advice on why my house is so cold even though the furnace is working.

They talked to me about what I wanted and gave me a very competitive quote. I hired them and they finished the job in a day. They came when they said they would, and the quality of work was excellent. They also cleaned up very well after the work was done. They also promised to take care of any leaks in my heater or air-conditioner immediately. My overall experience with them was excellent.
Description of Work: They installed a brand new furnace and a new centralized air-conditioning system in my house. The work was done probably in June 2008.
