Faithful Fences

There was a small delay in getting the work done because of bad weather, but once the guys made it out they were excellent & Jim even came by early in the day to make sure everyone was on task & the same page. A great experience as the entire team was entirely professional & great to work with. Update: Carport gate had settled a bit during the winter months which made the gate difficult to close and impossible to lock. I did have to call twice to get through to someone. Once I was able to talk to a nice woman at the office, she said she would check my availability with Jim and his crew & get back to me that night . I did not receive a call that night, so called back that morning & learned that they were planning in trying to come out that afternoon. I called back & left a message that I was available & home. They called around 1:00 saying that they were on the way. The guys came out quickly adjusted the gate & locking mechanism so that it is once again easily workable.

They removed our old Cedar fence (only 12 years old, installed by a different company) and hauled it away. They then installed roughly 100 feet of new fence and two gates. Jim the owner made sure we knew just what kind of oil sealant to use on it and what else to do to make it last as long as possible (basically, keep soil and plants off it). The crew was very thorough and conscientious. Jim was slow returning our initial calls but once we connected things went smoothly. One thing we didn't appreciate was that Jim came back after the quote was made and required $110 more for material price increases.

They are very easy to reach, returning all calls within the hour, always on time, made sure that we were completely satisfied, took the extra steps to present options, and found solutions to every concern. I was very pleased when I called to schedule the estimate; Jim was able to meet me same day. We went over the scope of work to be performed and he promised to fax me an estimate within a few days. I made at least four follow up calls and one email requesting the proposal, however, have not received it to date. I was able to catch him personally on the phone one day, and he did give me a verbal estimate, however, we have never received one in writing. The reviews were very good on the list, and they are relatively close by, which is why I contacted them in the first place. However, if it is this difficult to try and get an estimate faxed, I am afraid of how hard it would be to get the service scheduled and completed in a timely manner.

From start to finish, everything was done professionally and as promised. I am very satisfied. Price was competitive.

Jim was very responsive to coming over to provide a quote on the spot, and made recommendations as to the type of mesh when we asked about options. Once we confirmed the work he came over to get one of the mailboxes (to make backings) and we paid 1/2. There was some delay in getting him back to do the rest of the work (he was going to call to schedule and did not), then when I called he was back from out of town and one of his guys was supposed to call but never did. He was going to call me back but didn't, however when I did call to follow up, he scheduled the work for two days later while I was on the phone. The work ended up being great and looks excellent.

I spoke to Jim, and requested an estimate for removal, stripping/sanding, powder-coating, and installation of three vintage wrought iron railings. He said he would swing by and work up an estimate. Two weeks later I hadn't heard from him, so I called. Jim said he was waiting for the powder-coating guy to get back to him, but he would definitely get me an estimate within a week. I never heard from him, so two weeks later I called again, and I got the same story. Three weeks later I called and spoke to Mike (?), who was surprised that Jim had never gotten back to me. I asked Mike if maybe they didn't want the job, and maybe that's why I never received an estimate. He said they do this kind of work all the time and promised to look into it. I've never gotten a call. I've wasted two months waiting on this company, because they assured me wholeheartedly they would get right back to me. I've had a really hard time finding a reliable service provider for iron work.

Mike Menditto, the project lead at Faithful Fence, was a pleasure to work with. He came out quickly to give me an estimate on the front wrought iron fencing, in addition to a cedar fence (with lattice top) for my back yard. He measured accurately, returned to the site himself if he had a question - he would just pop his head in, look at the site, and call me to confirm. He saved me tons of time as opposed to having to go back and forth to meet with him when he had a question about something. I compared quotes across several companies and Faithful was on target, and delivered the highest quality of work. The end result is a beautiful iron gate that makes my property look finished! I will be calling them to do my back yard fencing too. If you want the job done right, call these guys. Easy to work with, good prices, friendly, and accommodating. Plus, their work crew is highly skilled.

They came out to do the estimate very quickly, but when it came time to get the estimate, I had to call a couple times to get it. They said they would fax it, but I never received it in writing. The estimate was for $1,150, to extend some of the wrought iron to accommodate a new closing mechanism & to repair the lock mechanism. We are a condo building, so it had to get it approved by the board, which it did. When I called back, he said that they would order the part and come out in about a week. It has been about a month & I have called several times to find out what is going on but nobody will even call me back. Meanwhile the gate is worse & won't even close now and is a security issue. They had good reports on the the list, so I don't understand what the problem is. Now I am going to have to go somewhere else. This is annoying, because we are a self managed building and that means that one of the board members has to take more time off of work, to go through this whole process again.

We liked Jim from the very beginning. He seemed like a nice person, confident in his product, and not like a salesman.

Quote process was prompt & pleasant, but price was higher than others. Jim explained the reasons, and since I was more concerned with the quality of the job than the price, I agreed. Good points: fence and gate were installed square and level, which I checked myself. They did a nice job cleaning up, including removing quite a bit of old concrete. Bad points: I wasn't sure they were coming on the day they did. The guys that showed up did not seem to know much about the job scope, so I explained it to them. If they had a copy of the quote/contract, it would have prevented confusion. I could not stay home on such short notice, and they ended up installing too high of a gate (I wanted a 4 ft and they installed a 6 ft high gate), and the latches on both gates were unusual and seem more suited for padlock. They corrected the gate height problem a few weeks later. Neither gate has any latch/hardware on the inside, so you have to grab the wood with your hands to pull the gate closed.

Jim was very responsive. We met to discuss an estimate for the work. He made some suggestions. Once I called to agree on the estimate, he started the work by cementing in the posts while the fence was being made. They were there about two weeks before the fence was installed. I was pleased with the final result of the work.

I had a fence very poorly installed in April by an individual recommended by my landscape architect. The gates never worked properly. I called Faithful Fence based on Angie's List reports to repair the shoddy workmanship. Jim responded quickly. He was appropriately critical of the gates, but not mean spirited about the situation. He completely replaced one gate and tweaked the others so they worked properly. We could not be happier with the final result. The gate is a thing of beauty and all the gates work perfectly. He is a great guy to come and repair a bad job -- which could be a thankless enterprise. Clearly, I won't need a new fence for a while, so for not a lot of money, he greatly improved our fence and though it sounds dramatic, the quality of our busy day to day life.

Jim's a great guy & increased the Angie's discount to $250, but still came in the highest of three. He neglected to mention he only had access to ''#2 or better'' grade cedar (until I asked at the end) & then gave me a lousy excuse about the harvest (grade is determined by the milling, not the quality of the wood). He was also very willing to attach gates to solo posts where others wanted to anchor into the adjacent wall to ensure rigidity. Wouldn't have accepted his bid even if it was more competitive due to my concerns about the quality of his product.

I had to replace two common fences and I also wanted a new gate with a lock that could be operated from either inside or out. Faithful Fences was my choice. Jim listened to our needs and suggested what would work for our needs. He made a date to come out to quote a price after measuring. He also suggested a lock that turned out to be exactly what I was hoping to find. Jim also drew out a diagram of the property, on grid paper, and wrote out exactly what we would be getting. He said we could expect someone between 9-22 and 9-26, depending on the weather, but that it would be on the first day inside that time period that it did not rain. Two men arrived as promised and moved everything out of their way, themselves. They were finished in one day (and everything returned to the proper place) but, I asked for two changes and they returned following day make them. Faithful Fences gets my highest recommendation!

Great experience all around. Owner and workers were very responsive and good to work with. All estimates and work done when promised. Highly recommended.

Jim was extraordinairily pleasant. He worked with me to assure I liked the fence he was to build for me, including building a mock-up which I ultimately rejected in favor of a more conventional style. He remained in contact with my paving company to coordinate installation of the hardscape elements in my yard-relieving me of that responsibility. When workers made an error installing one section of fence, Jim immediately had it corrected. In sum, he was willing to go the extra mile to assure a happy customer.

They were excellent. They did a fantastic job and did it very quickly. Extremely reliable and very nice as well.

Jim replied immediately to our call and came over the next day to give a detailed estimate of the work. We scheduled the repairs within a week. The two repair men initially forgot to fix a broken post, but came out within two days to complete the project. This was expensive for a small project, but Jim was open with describing ways to save money on materials.

It was a good experience, and I would definitely use them again.

They did a good job with installation, but the project did take longer to finish than expected, as the installer read the planning diagram incorrectly, and put one section of fence in the wrong place. It took about two weeks to get them out to fix this, and the guys did apologize for the error. When they did come to fix it, it took only about a half an hour, and then it was done. (The B's in the rating are because of this error, and the change of dates once or twice for the moving of the mis-installed section. To their credit it was the peak of the season, and it was a small job.) The fence looks great, and we would use them again, as well as recommend Faithful Fence to others.

Jim came out to give us an estimate on a holiday just to comply with our hectic schedules. After an initial mix-up with dates, his team installed our fence quickly, and we were impressed with the quality of the work.

Excellent, courteous hard workers, paid attention to detail. They were committed to finishing the job as agreed to.

Jim was very personable and helpful in the selection of the fencing and made some great recommendations. He was also pretty easy to get a hold of and arranged to have the fence installed when promised. The workers were friendly and willingly made adjustments when asked. The work area was left clean and neat. Boards which showed signs of splitting after the initial installation due to normal shrinkage, etc. were readily replaced with no problem. Our neighbors, who are not members of Angie's list, also used Faithful Fences when they learned of the company from us and are very satisfied.

Great guys, good price, and a fantastic job. It looks great.
