I contacted Ross as a follow up to a previous energy audit that I had done. Ross spent 3 hours with me and reviewed additional measures I could take to limit energy losses in the house. I had this work done specifically to limit stack effect in the house, which was aggravating my allergies by pulling air into the house from the basement. When Ross found out that I had had an audit performed previously, he said he wouldn't charge me for his visit! I insisted on paying him because he spent three hours with me. He used a boroscope so that we could see what was happening behind the knee walls on the second floor. They had not been sealed and were probably the largest source of stack effect in the whole house. I found Ross's work to be invaluable. I highly recommend him.

Dan was able to complete the inspection on a very tight deadline. He accommodated us the day after we called! He was on time, very professional, and extremely thorough during the inspection process. The final report was extremely detailed with plenty of color photographs. We would absolutely use them again!

We had Domicile Consulting come in and do a home inspection for a 3 bedroom condo that we were looking to purchase. The inspector, Chris Brown, was extremely thorough and detail-oriented. He uncovered enough major, problematic issues that we decided to back out of the purchase of this condo. We ended up using their services for another home inspection (we ultimately purchased this home) and for a follow-up inspection for some repairs the seller agreed to complete as a result of the initial inspection. In all cases, the inspector was very thorough and professional, both explaining things in person during the inspection and providing a comprehensive, detailed report. I also really liked Domicile's online scheduling feature and email confirmation system. It made it way easier for me to schedule the appointments compared to trying to call a place and potentially having to leave a voicemail and getting called back at the most inopportune time. The only word of caution I would point out is that the inspector might have had unrealistic expectations. He would say things like "Ideally, you'd want the external siding to last for 60 years, but this one may fail after only 5 or 6 years." or "I don't know how much of a good deal you guys are getting on this place, so I am not sure if you want to go through with it. If you are getting it for maybe $100,000 (this was a 3 bedroom condo constructed within the past 5 years), then I think you might go through with the purchase." All that being said, however, I prefer to have an exhaustive list of potential issues and then make the decision for myself on how to proceed. This inspector will not just tell you what you want to hear (in fact it may be closer to the opposite), but as long as you don't overreact to issues that are raised, you will be in the best position to make the right decision.

The inspection went smoothly. He arrived on time and was thorough. He showed me how to use some of the systems in the basement like the humidifier, pointed out some potential problems and patiently answered my questions. I received the detailed report the next day as promised.

The overall experience was great. This is the 4th time I have purchsed a property & Ross was the best inspector I have ever had. He confirmed what we thought, that the house had no major structural or saftey issues, and spent a great deal of time with me showing all the small things we could do to improve the house. In addition to finding all the small fixes needed Ross was great at pointing out how we could make our house a more energy efficent place, shich is great in a house that is 116 years old. The report I got was very detailed & I especailly liked that it had pictures to help remind me of exactly what needs to be fixed. I would reccomend Domicile consulting & Ross to any perspective buyers.

Great. Inspector showed up a little early, extremely thorough, showed me everything. He was helpful in telling me the good things about the house, explained the expected life of the roof, furnace, etc., explained what needed to be fixed and what type of contractor would need to fix it, and whether this was a small fix or a big fix. He was so thorough that the seller of the house who was present during the inspection asked for his card so they could use this company in their new house. They emailed the report with great photos of the problems they identified with red arrows pointing to the problem in the picture. The report came earlier than expected. We are buying at the end of the tax credit, and there is a flurry of houses being inspected right now, but they were still timely and professional in the report. They have an angie's list coupon - 5% off, nice but I would pay full price because they were so good.

I have made several real estate purchases in the last few years and the inspection by Dan Cullen was by far the most thorough inspection that has been performed on my behalf. I called several inspectors to determine how they would examine the radiant heating system in the house and most simply planned to turn on the system to make sure it worked. Domicile consulting used technology, specifically a thermal imaging tool, to address the issue. Their tools enabled me to see where the heating pipes were in the building and to check for leaks. Although I was impressed with the technology, the best part about the inspection was Dan's attention to detail, thorough documentation (including pictures of every issue) and his patience with my questions. All in all, a top notch inspection.

It was a really great experience--despite confirming just how terribly leaky and drafty our old home is. Ross came out and spent over three hours walking my husband and I through every corner and crevice of our house. He was very knowledgeable and many of his suggestions were affordable, reasonable fixes that we could do ourselves--caulk, foam, etc. We really appreciated that the audit seemed very personal and tailored to our budget and ambitions for the house.

A bit of a challenge to set up initial appointment, but that was clarified and resolved. I appreciate the detail, patience in explanations, and clarity of this very professional energy audit. It helped us make a decision as how best to use our limited resources this summer as we plan for home improvements keeping in mind the $1500 tax credit.

Excellently!! They were personable, hard-working, on-time, honest, and, most of all, very detail-oriented. Using their report, we have been able to get the sellers to give us a $5K credit at closing for various items they inspected. Our realtor, who has been working in the industry for 20+ years, told us that if he were a seller, he'd be "nervous about seeing this report" because everything was so well-documented and described. Dan submitted the report within 24 hours after the inspection and was a pleasure to work with. While we're not planning on buying another home any time soon, we would definitely call Dan if we were doing so. I can't recommend him highly enough.

A great impression from the start. Chris Brown was the inspector. He called before our appointment to say he would be about 10-15 minutes late and he was right - he showed up exactly when he said he would. The overall experience was very pleasant and informative. Chris was patient, calm and cool, very thorough, explained areas with detail, answered all of my questions. Was much more thorough than I expected - inspection lasted 3 hours, but I was totally fine with time because I knew I was getting a lot of good information. I heard about Domicile through Angie's List and two friends. I would definitely recommend Chris Brown and Domicile Consulting.

Dan Cullen made a preliminary inspection and his knowledge and professionalism were evident. I scheduled a formal inspection and shortly thereafter he delivered his report. I requested a presentation of this report and he revisited our building to do so to the full condo association. We are very pleased with his thoroughness and intend on partnering with him on our improvement projects.

I called a couple inspectors to get a couple bids, and decided to go with Dan. He was very professional, and I liked that I could go online to schedule a home inspection. He was available to come out the next day, and even when I rescheduled (online) for the following day, he was able to accommodate. He also clarified via email that I was indeed cancelling the original date, which I appreciated. (I always like when someone makes an effort toward clear communication). Dan and his son showed up on time (even a few minutes early), as they were already at work when I arrived. Dan had already been on the roof and was in the process of inspecting the rest of the exterior while his son was inside inspecting other areas. Dan also inspected the entire interior of the home, from the attic (both the house attic and the attic above the garage), as well as throughout the 2-story home and basement. He took photos of everything he saw noteworthy, and even noted that there was evidence of mice in the attic. We received the inspection report less than 48 hours later, accessible online (you can also print it), complete with detailed photos, comments and suggestions. It indeed was extremely detailed, which we liked, of course. (e.g. Comments on the sprinkler system, possible water leaking in the bathroom previously, the mice, comments about the furnaces and how they were set up/structured, crawlspace, etc). We were also able to forward the report to our attorney, and I think the report is available for a year? Dan was really nice, laid back yet very professional. During the inspection, he took time to point out and explain to us the things he found and answered any questions we had. He also made himself available to answer any questions or concerns post-inspection. We did contact him a day or two after receiving the report, as we felt a little overwhelmed at all the issues that were addressed and weren't sure how to digest it all. He helped ease our concerns, put things in perspective, and helped us to understand which things might be priority from his point of view. We would definitely hire him again (should we move again).

Ross was approximately 45 minutes late for which he profusely apologized for and gave me $50.00 off the inspection. A professional courtesy which I was very appreciative of. He was very thorough and explained everything he was doing, and looking at and why he was doing so. Having been through other inspections, I found the job Ross did to be excellent and comprehensive. He did a thorough inspection of the exterior of the building as well and then gave me a report, with photographs showing the areas of concern which he felt needed to be addressed. With this report in hand I was able to negotiate with the seller for items I wanted addressed and will be able to show the association common areas which we should correct. Overall I was very satisfied with Ross' inspection and report and would gladly recommend them to others.

Dan Cullen & Chris Brown of Domicile Consulting completed a thorough inspection of a 3 bedroom greystone (built circa 1890) my wife and I are considering to purchase. We are first-time home buyers who have taken first-time buyer courses, have read extensively and have previous experience in the construction trade. However, Dan & Chris pointed out several items we had missed in previous looks at the place. Their inspection answered our numerous concerns about moisture/mold issues as well as locating questionable renovations that had taken place in the past five years. Domicile Consulting? prices are slightly higher ($25-$50) then other firms in the area; however, their thoroughness is well worth skipping Starbucks for a week or two.

Ross was great, he showed up on time, and planned his inspection efficiently to take advantage of the daylight for the exterior inspection while he still had it. He was very informative, we learned quite a bit during the process to help us maintain the home and some good tips to make it more energy efficient. He walked the roof and the garage roof, went in the attic and generally looked over area of the house. He ended up spending almost three hours on the inspection, which we thought was absolutely great, since it demonstrated his professionalism and commitment to quality. Domicile Consulting was more expensive than any other company we looked at, but they were also the most professional. At the end of the day, it was worth every penny! Our realtor had good things to say as well...he said that a few weeks prior to ours, Ross had done an inspection that (unfortunately for our realtor) killed the deal, which is definitely what you want to hear as a buyer. I would definitely Ross to you.

We have been using Dan's services for the past 2 years or so and he has NEVER failed us. Dan did a home inspection for us once again on the listed date. His attention to detail far surpasses that of past inspectors that I have used. He is punctual and takes the time to explain the issues that he uncovers. His reports are detailed and easy to understand. In a nut shell, Dan inspected a potential home purchase for us and found many issues with the house. After reviewing the inspection report, we decided that purchasing the home would have been a mistake. Dan's report saved us from a HUGE potential money pit. I am greatful to him and will use him again....

The reports had a lot of detail and photos. I felt they covered a lot of information in 25 pages. They have a very sophisticated system. My one problem was the report was completed digitally and I was not able to take a hard copy with me when we went out of town. Other than that, I was very happy with their reports and the information I was able to obtain with their expertise.
