I've used Domicile Consulting for several homes, after initially finding the company on Angie's List. Dan Cullen is exceptionally knowledgeable, objective and insightful. Prices are reasonable and well worth the investment. Dan takes copious pictures and compiles them in a handy report with recommendations. Highly recommended.

We had a complicated situation in our master bathroom where we had water damages occur, the source of the leak was difficult for even professional plumbers to determine. That’s when we decided to call a leak detection specialist and came across, Domicile Consulting. Based on the great reviews, I called them and the receptionist was very helpful and understood the urgency of our situation. I told her our bathroom had been completely demolished by the mitigation company and we needed an qualified expert to determine how the leak occurred. She confirmed our appointment with Dan Cullen, and when he came to our condo he was able to assess the area and pin-point how the water damages occurred, very quickly, when no one else was able to tell us. We found Dan to be extremely professional, knowledgeable, and very nice! He’s one of the best home inspection professional I have come across!

Provided an inspection and assessment of our buildings exterior balconies, and then completed a full walkthrough noting issues with the roof, decking and HVAC systems. Many misconceptions were corrected from years of working with low cost/quality contractors. Additionally, many extremely cost effective suggestions were provided, saving unnecessary and expensive work. While some of the findings will add cost, it is great to know and start to build a strategy to address the items and secure our small 6 unit condo building.

Over our lifetime we have purchased 10 homes. Without a doubt, Scott of Domicile Consulting prepared by far the best, and most informative home inspection we ever received. The report was crystal clear in what needed to be done with great illustrations and explanations of the issues. He was on time and very courteous to work with. In addition, following the presentation of the report, Scott was right there to answer a couple questions we had. We could not be more satisfied with Scott and is report!

Mark Hughes was the inspector for our 2/2 condo and he was awesome. He had no problem teaching me while simultaneously doing his thorough and detailed job. He also paid extra attention to areas of concern that I had going into the inspection. The entire thing took a little over 2.5 hrs. The detailed report he provided (53 pages for a 2/2 condo!) has been a great help in our evaluation of pursuing the purchase of this property. Rock on, Mark. One thing I wish they would offer is a grading system of : "major", "minor", "cosmetic" or "$$$$", "$$$", "$$", "$" grade to each item to make it an easier to know where I should focus on first. Meagan was a great help and very responsive with email (my preferred method of communication for these type of things). The payment processing was great too - they come, you sign a contract saying you'll pay after to unlock your report. The payment is all online and no added fees.

Daniel was very professional and the most thorough and experienced inspector I've ever met. He sent me a very detailed report for the 1500 sq ft condo, which could easily be transformed into a punch list of action items for the seller. In addition, he was very responsive to any questions and even sent me a list of recommended contractors when asked.

My wife and I recently had our first home purchase inspected by Domicile Consulting and most importantly Scott Smith. Being our first home purchase, we wanted to follow Scott around the house and learn what he was looking at/how things worked around the house. Scott was so incredibly kind and LOVED the chance to have my wife and I follow him during the inspection. Once the inspection began, we were both expecting him to point out some high-level, major issues and to our surprise, Scott was incredibly thorough. As we began walking around, he was pointing out small issues that on the surface, my wife and I would've never noticed, but Scott made a point to take pictures, explain the issue and most importantly TEACH us what was wrong and how to remediate the issue. He also was incredibly helpful with explaining how items in our housed WORKED. Being a first time homebuyer, my wife and I were unsure of how some things in a house work (plumbing, hot water heating, HVAC, sump pumps etc.). Scott went ABOVE AND BEYOND to show us and explain to us what type of systems we had in our new home. Scott also found some major issues with our home that could only have been found from using some high-tech tools and due diligence to take the time to get into hard/uncomfortable/dark spaces to find these problems. To top it all off, Scott then wrote up a thorough report of the entire house with pictures of everything and essentially a "playbook" of how our house worked. This was incredible and now an important resource for my wife and I! We can't thank you enough Scott Smith, you went above and beyond what we had expected. My wife and I will be using Domicile Consulting and Scott for all of our future real estate investments!

I thought the inspection went well. Years later though, I discovered a structural issue in one part of the home that they completely missed! They didn't even warn me about the possibility of it's existence! I would never use this company again and I strongly urge you to consider an alternative.

Mark was absolutely phenomenal. I specifically wanted someone with engineering experience and the owner of Domicile recommended I use Mark. He was beyond thorough and had exceptional attention to detail. He walked me through the steps he was taking and what he was looking for. If he found something deficient, he gave me suggestions on what needed to be done to make it passable. He also found that the sellers were dishonest about or unaware of some issues I specifically asked about. By the end of his inspection, I knew that we were not going to go through with the property so I told him to not worry about writing up the full report. As a result, he provided me a discount on the total, which was greatly appreciated.

I WISH I could use this company all the time to check random things at my current home. I first used them to do the home inspection on a home I put a bid on. I was concerned that the house may be sagging so they arranged for an inspector that had a contractor/engineer background to perfect the inspection. They went through everything so thoroughly that I was beyond impressed. I have NEVER had a home inspection that was this detailed. I absolutely cannot recommend them enough.

Not only WOULD WE ABSOLUTELY hire Domicile Consulting again... we did. Thrice. The work that our inspectors, Kenny & Mark, did saved us from making several mistakes when purchasing mid-tier priced homes in our area (suburban Chicago). They were professional, polite, patient and extremely thorough. They answered every question -- along with questions we didn't know that we had! -- before, during and after each inspection. The quality and value of the services they provided can not be overestimated. Their reports not only gave us vital information that we needed on making perhaps the most important purchase we'll ever make, but it gave us a great guide for negotiating with the home sellers and about how to move forward in making necessary repairs/remediations in our new home. We are so grateful for the time, effort and energy that they put forth in helping us through this frustrating home buying process; because of their work we feel very confident that we got a great home at a great price.

We selected Domicile Consulting largely based upon the positive reviews about them we found online. Dan Cullen came for the building inspection. He allowed board members to be present as he went through the building and even explained the significance of the conditions he was finding. Within a few days were we notified that the inspection report was available for download. The report had numerous pictures with explanations of the defects being shown and the corrective measures would be appropriate. Dan then came to a meeting with our board members to go over the entire report, adding suggestions about options to consider in dealing with some of the more complicated (and expensive) issues identified in the report and patiently answering all questions. The inspection report and the meeting with Dan has provided our board with a comprehensive list of the various maintenance and repair needs of our building along with guidance about how prioritize them and then address them in a cost-effective manner. Domicile Consulting and Dan Cullen were always very responsive and pleasant to work with.

Dan from Domicile Consulting is a first-rate inspector. When the inspection of our Berwyn bungalow was over, we had a good sense of what we were up against. Dan's inspection was thorough --- from the roof to behind the stairs in the basement. He pointed out the things to be concerned about, what we could explore further if we chose to do so, and how certain problems might be rectified. It's apparent he is a guy with a good deal of experience. Moreover, he took time to answer all our questions along the way and his inspection report was detailed and useful.

Christy Malone is a great inspector! She is very thorough and extremely professional. She will leave no stone unturned, so as a home buyer you will feel confident knowing all the potential issues with the home up front. I used Christy for inspection services twice now and couldn't recommend her highly enough. Even the sellers agent ended up asking for her contact information for future recommendations. Mr. Daniel Cullen is a wonderful, very thorough and professional home inspector. I am very happy that I chose him for my home inspector. I would definitely recommend him to anyone who needs a thorough home inspection.

I contacted Domicile Consulting to help with an odor/air quality issue in my townhouse after hitting dead ends with various hvac/ducting people and plumbers. Dan Cullen came out and was extremely detailed and helpful. He noticed several problems which had been missed when I purchased the home a few years ago, which might be contributing to the issues I am having. He has taken a lot of time to discuss the situation, and has offered to come out and discuss the work that needs to be done with any contractors that I choose to work with. Dan has exceeded my expectations, both in the amount of time he has devoted to helping me, as well as in his level of knowledge and holistic approach to problem solving. I have also found him to be a very nice guy, and really pleasant to work with.

They were thorough. The property needed rehab to begin with. I just wanted to know about the foundation. If they could have a rate for just "structure of the building", that would be fine. The price was average.

The entire process was very smooth. The website is extremely easy to use and has a great user interface for scheduling appointments, reading about the inspectors, and viewing/sharing reports. William showed up early for the inspection and was extremely thorough. He took pictures of everything, and he provided me with explanations as we walked through the house of good things and bad things. His report was thorough and very well documented. The inspection took about 1.5 hours. As he was finishing up, the radon testing agent showed up and had everything set up within 10 minutes. I received the home inspection report two (2) business days after the inspection, as promised by William. For the home inspection with radon test, it was $825, but I felt it was worth it considering the magnitude of the purchase!

Inspector was very thorough and explained everything that needed to be done to correct the problems with the house. The report I received was very detailed. I already recommended Domicile to a friend.

Inspection was thorough and gave us an outline of what we might need to do in the near and extended future. Most importantly, scheduling the inspection was very easy (given the limits of the contract review period) and customer service at the office was efficient and helpful. I would recommend this company.

They did a great job and our inspector, Isac Enriquez found a couple of mold issues that the Seller's inspector did not find.. One was in the attic above the master bath where a new roof had been put on a year earlier but the master bathroom vent was not vented out through the roof. The sellers remediated the mold and corrected the cause and we hired Isac to reinspect to confirm that the job had been done correctly.

The inspector and the quality of the inspection report were absolutely professional. The work was completed in a timely fashion and the inspector was available to answer questions after the report was provided. We did have some unnecessary drama with the subcontractor that was to do the radon test that Domicile arranged, which is the only reason I gave them a B for professionalism. We ended up using another company to do the radon test, but the drama caused an unnecessary delay. I would hire Domicile again as I have had prior experiences with them and their work has always been of the best quality.
