Rafael Diaz came out in a timely manner to discuss the project we were undertaking. Gave us suggestions for improving the project and followed through with a clear and detailed bid on the job. We accepted and the work was begun on time and completed professionally. The result is we now have great curb appeal for our property!. We've since hired the DiazGroup for ongoing maintenance of the lawn and plantings. Dealing with this company has been problem free from start to finish. They are professional, courteous, , willing to work within your budget, provide helpful advice. And all around pleasant experience.

The man who came out, his name was Dave and he was really helpful and fantastic. I wasn't able to afford what he suggested but he was timely and personable. I felt the other companies treated me like a small potato and Dave didn't do that. He made me feel like my small plot of land could be a palace. Unfortunately I couldn't afford the palace price. They were very professional. He gave me a great vision when he wasn't get back to me he called consistently to let me know that he was still trying to put together something that would work for me. So I liked that a lot. But I just don't have that kind of money. He was also very professional.

After we purchased our home in late 2012, we contacted three landscape contractors to discuss ideas for improving the landscaping. Since we hadn't dealt with any landscape firms previously, we selected three firms from Angie's List and requested a proposal for landscaping improvements. This included work in the backyard (remove deck, install brick paver patio, install lighting and landscaping, including all new sod), the side of the house (creation of a vegetable garden) yard and the front of the house (remove existing grass/install new sod). Of the three firms we met with, Rafael from the Diaz Group was the most professional in our interactions. We discussed how we planned to use the yard and offered ideas that we wanted incorporated in the design/installation. Rafael offered ideas and recommendations regarding building a patio area using brick pavers while maintaining sufficient grass and plantings in the backyard to maintain an appropriate mix of green space in the yard. Rafael provided his proposal within the timeline he described. The proposal was very detailed and provided specific data points-ranging from the type of dirt that would be provided to specifics on the sod that was being installed. We began work in late October of 2012-that consisted of removing an existing deck, removing the existing grass and existing landscaping. Since we were installing a new brick paver patio, we had to obtain permits from our city. Despite numerous challenges with the bureaucracy of city government that was extremely difficult to deal with, Rafael and his team modified the work plan to ensure the city would provide a final sign-off on the work performed. This included obtaining a civil engineer to review the proposed work plan and then inspecting the outcome to ensure it had been completed. This is an unexpected cost which neither we or Rafael could anticipate. We worked out a fair and equitable method of absorbing the additional cost. The Diaz Group consistently made themselves available for inspections and were extremely responsive to my inquiries as well as inquiries from the city. Final signoff for all work was finally received in the spring of 2013 so we were recently able to complete the project. The end product is simply outstanding. Rafael designed plantings in the backyard to provide visual focal points and chose perennial plants that complimented each other to provide interesting colors throughout the year. His recommendations on using lighting have proved to be excellent-each day at dusk, the lighting activates and provides a different perspective on the landscaping. Since having quality grass is important to me, I've been extremely happy with the quality of the sod, including the dirt used. Every piece of sod took and is now thriving. The Diaz Group team has been extremely responsive to requests including making his team available to prepare an area for our vegetable garden so we could plant our vegetables and enjoy them later this year. We are extremely happy with the quality of work and the professionalism shown by Rafael and the entire Diaz Group. We enthusiastically recommend that you consider the Diaz Group when considering landscaping design needs. We are really glad that we were able to find the Diaz Group via Angie's List-this is a shining example of why Angie's List works.

They did great work. It just kept getting delayed because of how hot is was last summer. It was out of their control but the work that they provided was really great. They were very prompt. They came over and gave me a quote very promptly, it was very quick. Their workers worked really hard and they were able to finish in the amount of time that they told me that they would, which was helpful.

They came over rather quickly to give us an estimate a few days after we contacted them. We're trying to decide which company to use. It was very good and he did a good job.

The guy who came out from Diaz Group LLC was very good. He gets very good reviews on Angie's List but their quote was too high. He was very efficient, I called them and he came out within 2 days and gave me a quote, he had a good personality and had very good ideas just that it was higher than our budget. They did everything correctly, they sent the quote quickly online and called to find out if we were still interested.

We have used them for years and our property looks great. Most important, they show up without fail every week. Five or six men working and they are done quickly. Very nice family.

Their price was expensive for a small yard but the guys are super professional. You pay for what you get. They are a local. They will do a good job because I am a part of their community. They are great.

I called in November and scheduled an appointment for someone from the company to come to look at our Chicago bungalow backyard. We want to totally redo the backyard with new sod and landscaping and pavers and want to replace the current wood stairs and small deck and install new stairs. The appointment was scheduled for December and I waited and Rafael didn't show. Later that morning I received a call from a woman at the company who apologized and said he had an emergency and would like to reschedule. We did reschedule for January 4. Rafael came, and unlike the other bid companies didn't stay outside very long, didn't ask very detailed questions and didn't appear to take any pictures. I had to feed him information; he wasn't consultative. Then, I asked about the wood deck and stairs and he said they didn't do that. He suggested they do the work and then I should contract with a builder to build stairs later. That made no sense. I specifically told the the company I wanted all the work done at once or else I wouldn't have considered Diaz. Nevertheless, we agreed that he would get back to me with the bid for the landscaping and hardscaping. I have not heard back and it has been one month! I'd like him to send the property diagram that I gave him back to me.

We have used them for over 13 years. They are dependable, inexpensive and the do a good job.

Could not have gone better! Absolutely the most professional outfit I have worked with -- and we have done a lot on a very old house over a long time! Dave McKinney is the garden architect who gave me endless time discussing the details over and over. He even reviewed the plan with my mother (a fantastic gardener)! Every single time he came exactly when he said he would. He also kept in good touch by phone. He is a superb communicator which helps so much on home projects! And, he listened to my preferences and put up with my absolute lack of knowledge on the subject. He listened to how I wanted the garden a specific way even though I didn't know enough to describe what plants I wanted. I wanted it more loose and cottage like and informal, and he made that a reality. Dave also respected my desire to have a more heavily treed yard than many might choose. And, when things didn't turned out right like a plant in the wrong spot, he quickly adjusted them. Dave is trully a gem and you should hire him for your garden designer! And, the Diaz group were equally fantastic. They always came as scheduled. They worked hard throughout. They left everything they touched tidy and perfect. They were professional and polite. I don't think I would believe this review if I was reading it, but it is all very true! What a great company. You will NOT be disappointed if you hire them. ADDENDUM While they did a wonderful job initially, I had them come back this summer to fill in some areas and clean up the yard and put new mulch down and plant a few new plants. Every single plant they put in that round died. The mulch layer was not adequate. I could barely tell they were here, and they charged a fortune for this. I have texted Dave and my husband emailed him too, and our concerns were never responded to. For this reason, I would consider using another company if I were you. I hate to say that with how great they were at first, but it is what it is. And, I will lower our initial grades across the board to "C" despite my earlier positive words and prior "A" grades. I will leave my earlier words in place though, so people can see the spectrum of our experience with this company.

I completely recommend The Diaz Group for all your landscaping needs. My husband and I hired them for our home to enlarge our existing tiny driveway, install pavers, lighting, complete make over of the front landscaping, backyard landscaping, lighting and pavers. Rafael showed us a virtual view of the landscaping by the help of some sophisticated software they use. =) We were very excited to see it as it looked like a completely different home and so beautiful. All the work was completed on time to which we agreed. I must say that everyone was professional and were experts in each of their tasks. They went about the job without any fuss and made sure that no damage to any property was made. I mention this because we had our work done the hottest week of this summer July 4th week-100 degree days all week!! Unbelievable how they worked in that heat! Best quality of work and amount I've ever paid. Love everything!

After getting several estimate to sod a small area in my backyard, I was impressed with Rafael's recommendations(Diaz Group representative). He arrived on time on and met with me at my home. I told him about the area I wanted sodded and explained the issue I was having with some water run-off. He looked at the area suggested that several inches of soil be removed. A slight dip in the back section would help with rain/water issue. Before he could take any measurements, a torrent of rain began. He kept talking explaining the process and what the company could do and how long it would take. I kept listening. However, the rain would not let up! I then decided to go inside and he returned to his truck. As he was running to his truck, he yelled back that he would wait for the rain to subside in order to complete the measurements. I was a bit surprised by that. I expected he would leave and maybe return in about two to three weeks. Before I knew it I received the estimate with a detail report on the work we discussed and the cost. SURPRISED AGAIN! I sent in my deposit and they quickly made arrangements to complete the work. Within a week the job was completed. On a prearranged date, the workers arrived, removed the excess soil, fertilized the area, and laid the sod. When I returned from a dentist appointment that day, my yard looked beautiful. Clean and lovely. Everything was in it place and the sod looked great! I received a follow-up email with instructions on watering the sod and its maintenance. (This was very helpful since I did know a lick about how to care for sod).

This was an outstanding experience! Rafael was on time for the initial consultation; and went over all our hopes and design ideas. He was careful to check in on design preferences (like what color plants to avoid!) and also made many really good suggestions - on plants and layout. The estimate was reasonable and the estimate was accompanied by color renditions of what the proposed work would look like. The team arrived on the agreed day and worked in the Chicago heat preparing beds, moving plants and delivering materials. Every day the property was tidied. The crew even tidied up a large soil mess when a Chicago thunderstorm came sweeping in just after the soild have been place in the sidewalk beds - no small task! The stone landscaping was done with enormous care - the craftsman worked for hours making sure every piece of stone was perfectly cut and positioned to create an organic flow in a relatively small area.The work crew even installed pavers along the street side of the bed where no pavers were present, and this was in addition to the agreed work (with no additional charge!). Once all the heavy work was done the work crew swept and washed down all the paving, stairs, walkways, sidewalks and even asked to clean up our neighbors yard in case there was any debris that had made it to our neighbor. A second crew attended to the finer plantings of flower pots and hanging pots, and installing the irrigation. This was just the most outstanding experience ever!

This is the 3rd project we have done with the Rafael and the Diaz Group in the past 2 years. OUTSTANDING Service, Support and professionalism. They worked with us and suggested better ways to achieve what we wanted AND at a lower cost than our personal plans. The project went over 2 days and each day left the area perfectly cleaned up for us and our neighbors. Supervisor there both days to layout what was going to be done and to ensure we were good with. First Class Group.

One week process from the time Rafael came out to look at, quote, and finish the project. Rafael gave excellent advice and used what was already there without adding more expense. Very happy all the way around.

I am very happy with the final result from the Diaz group. They got started a little later in the year then I liked, but it was unavoidable due to the rain in the spring. They were punctual, polite, and very fast. There was a problem with the initial drainage installation they did, due to how the ground settled and the some unforeseen consequences, that caused some major standing water issues in my backyard when it finally rained more then a month after the installation was complete. Rafael and his father came and looked at it, and were back with their crew in about a week to redo almost the whole thing so it would be right. Since then it has worked great, and i couldn't be happier about their response to the issue.

We had two landscaping companies bid on a complete front yard remodel (standard Chicago city lot). Rafael from Diaz group came out to take measurements, pictures, gather our thoughts, and bounce around ideas. He came back a few days later with detailed proposals for two options including 3D drawings for how each would roughly look. We chose to use Diaz Group to do the work as they were superior to the other landscapers in terms of creativity, responsiveness and cost. After selecting an option and tweaking a few parts they put us on their schedule and once the project started they were done in about three days. Considering the work involved and the fact that it rained heavily after the first night of work, we were quite impressed. Rafael was a pleasure to work with and made the entire project look effortless despite bad weather. Diaz Group had all the right equipment and manpower to have the project move quickly and efficiently with great attention to detail and customer satisfaction. We were very pleased with their work and decided to use them again for our backyard project. Our backyard was completely covered in concrete and pavers. We used DAL Builders to demolish the concrete, remove the pavers, and remodel part of our deck to move the stairs back to take up less yard space. We worked with Rafael again to come up with a rough plan of the yard. It was rough this time since we didn?t know for sure what they would have to work with until the builders were finished. After the builders finished the Diaz Group made final measurements and provided us with a final plan which was very creative in making the most out of a very small area. They completed the back yard work in about four days. Rafael was a pure pleasure to work with throughout both projects and we could not be happier with the results. We signed up to use Diaz Group for ongoing maintenance and will use them again for any future landscaping projects.

The receptionist was very pleasant and accomodating with my time restraints as I was trying to get 3 different quotes in the course of one day. The representative was on time and appeared to be very thorough . He measured , took pictures, and he listened attentively to my requests and concerns. He offered some really good design ideas. I gave him my email address in order to send the proposal. After about a week , I had received all the other proposals except one from the Diaz group. I emailed the rep requesting a proposal by the end of the day if they wanted to be considered. I received no reply. Needless to say, another week went by before I got a phone call from the rep asking if I still wanted a proposal. I politely stated that I had hired someone else.

The whole process worked great from beginning to end. After setting up the on-site consultation, Rafael was there on-time and had lots of suggestions based on our ideas, he even provided additional options for future expansion. Much of our communication prior to committing to the work was done via email and drawings, this worked well for our schedules. The crew also showed up on-time and worked straight through the entire day and accomplished a great deal very fast. We were most impressed at the border design recycling our old granite blocks and at the stone planter they built around the tree on our parkway. The price was high but fair based on the quality of the work and the products. We look forward to our next job with Diaz Group.

I have them come every week to mow the lawn. They do a good job and I will continue to use them in future.

It went very well. They arrived at 8:30 a.m. and were finished with the job at 2:30 p.m. They were very professional and hard workers. They did a beautiful job. We are very satisfied.
