Garage door motor making noise but not opening. Tom explained what was happening and how to avoid a repetition of the problem in the future. He fixed it but explained it too.

I called Crystal because my garage door had stopped opening reliably. I wasn't able to be home when Tom, the tech, arrived. He called right away, quickly diagnosed the problem to be minor, and called me back and told me he could lubricate all the moving parts and tighten one thing for the cost of a service call, which was $75. He said that would extend the life of the door and opener system. He also told me the door wasn't that old but that the opener system was really old (think avocado appliances). He didn't tell me I needed to replace the opener system (I appreciated his honesty) but I decided to do so anyway for peace of mind and because my system was so old it didn't have the sensors to stop the door from crashing down on my dog or my car. It was a totally satisfactory experience and I would highly recommend Crystal to anyone needing garage door help.

One of two springs broke as my wife was going out one morning. After futzing around to see if I could fix it myself, I realized I needed help, checked the list, and called Crystal around noon. They said they might be able to get someone there that afternoon but no later than the next morning. I waited around but no one came or called. Next morning I called back to see if I was on their schedule and was assured I was in an 8-12 window. The repair guy called about 10 to say he was on the way, then called shortly thereafter to say he had to detour to an emergency. He finally made it around noon, advised me to replace both springs instead of just the broken one, and had the job done within an hour. Though I mentioned Angie's when I called, no one said anything about a discount. Maybe I should have asked, but the door was fixed in a reasonable amount of time, is still working a month later, and the price didn't seem outrageous.

I called Easter weekend because my garage door wouldn't shut. I got a returned phone call that Monday morning on my way into work which was great because I was able to arrange for a service call for that Wednesday morning early. He was willing to come Monday, but it wasn't convenient for me. The serviceman was there early, and fixed the door promptly, and suggested that the look at the second door while he was there - it needed oiling, so he took care of that and we were on our way in 20 minutes. I was very pleased.

Was out to my place ahead of schedule. Diagnosed problem and gave me options of repair or replace. They pointed out the opener originally installed was not appropriate for my door. They were back out the next business day to instal a new opener. Ontime, professional, cleaned-up after themselves. Job well done.

They called right away, were available, called before they came, examined problem quickly, repaired quickly, advised future prevention and charge $75 for service call and $25 for repair. Very professional and knowledgable.

They came out the next day after I called them and repaired the door. They had come out exactly when they said they would. The price was good and they did a good job. We were very satisfied with their work. I came to know of them through Angie?s List. They were awesome. The door was old and it had fallen off. They put it back on the track for us and reattached the track. It took them about an hour to finish the job. I liked the fact that they were only willing to fix what was broken and had not done anything that wasn?t necessary. They were very honest and professional. I would use them again.

Tom, the technician, called to let me know he was on his way and then again to say he was here. He told me my options and the cost per option. He explained things in a way that this non-do-it-yourselfer could understand while maintaining my dignity. I was able to make an informed decision and found the overall expereince to be very pleasant. I wil continue to recommend Crystal to my neighbors and friends.

Great service - called and left a message Wednesday night, had a call back Thursday morning at 7:30 to schedule an appointment. Technician was there a few hours later and completed the work in about an hour.

They are very professional and responsive. The technican knew what he was doing and after fixing the door, he checked to be sure everything else was working well. He gave me the 10% Angie's coupon discount reducing the $75 service call price to $67.50. My overhead door has been working great since the service call a month ago. I would definitely call them again for any future garage door problems.

My garage door wouldn't go down without leaning on the button. I had checked the sensors and knew they were not the problem. I called Crystal at 5:30 at night, left a message and received a phone call at 8am the next morning. We agreed they'd come between 11 and 1pm; Gerardo showed up at 9am, which was a tiny bit awkward (I was in my PJs). But he quickly discovered a broken wire that explained the problem. In ten minutes, he'd fixed the wire, lubricated the springs and joints of the whole system and I had a working door again. In fact, it's operation is now so quiet I can't hear it outside of the garage. They were fast, efficient and friendly. Based on my experience, I'd recommend them to anyone.

I called on a Friday, and they said someone would come the next day to repair the opener. About 30 minutes later the technician called to say he was in the area, and asked if I would mind if he came that afternoon to make the repair. He knew they had an extra heavy day on Saturday and that he wouldn't be working that day. Earlier was better for me, so he came over and installed the new garage door opener and the new keypad. He worked efficiently and quickly and was very professional and courteous. I will recommend them to any friends or neighbors.

I called Crystal Door at about 9:30 this morning, and was on hold for less than a minute before someone picked up. A very friendly fellow answered, and promised that someone would be here before Noon. At 10:15am, I got a call from the repair men (Tom and Joe), who were already in my alley ready to work. The work was done in 20 minutes. They took the liberty of checking and correcting another small problem I had not noticed (no charge). I am very satisfied, and would highly recommend Crystal Door to anyone.

I left a message with the company the night the garage door broke, in general voice mail, that I needed service. They open at 8AM and I got a call at approx. 9:30AM from the service guy that he would be here at around 11:30AM. I stayed home from work and canceled appointments to accommodate him (lost money) ... I could not get my car out nor could the doctor on the 1st floor who needed to be in Long Grove (big snow last night). Next was a call from the service guy that he would be here a little late ... at noon. He never showed up and never called. I called and got VM and finally a return call saying it would now be 2PM. No show and no call again. I called at 2:05 for an update and left a message. I got a return call saying he was 1/2 hour away, but on his way now. I had a 3PM appointment that I had not canceled at work. It was now 3PM (almost an hour later) ... no show and no call. I called the main office and got the receptionist. I got a limited response so I told her it wasn't good for their Angies list recommendation to do this to me. I could have worked the morning and now they were keeping me from working my afternoon ... (more lost money). When I mentioned Angie?s list, a man got on the phone who made a lot of excuses which was not what I wanted to hear at this point (he said it was the first he had heard of the problem ... who runs this operation anyway??) and he seemed only sensitive to their convenience (certainly not mine). He said that he had added another job for the guy near where he was located ... but no one called to tell me that. I was not to get service at the time promised once again. After my rant (I lost a days pay and need the money) he finally sent a great guy named Joey (different service guy) ... Joey should own the company! He apologized for the company and our inconvenience as was proper. He fixed the problem, broken spring, which any company could have done. I felt I was not important to them and they made no attempt to put themselves in my shoes. I mentioned Angie?s list to the man I spoke to in the office but the discount was not reflected in the bill. I was a repeat customer, which meant absolutely nothing. I will send the payment with the coupon, less 10% ... hoping that they will at least honor that. If I had known that I was so low on their priority list I would have used another company, there are lots of companies where dispatching is efficiently coordinated and customers are respected and service is not just based on greed. Maybe they don't really need the business, that's the impression I got anyway. They did the work on Friday and they called me today, Tuesday, asking when I would be sending my check for payment. Then they called to explain that they provide reminders as a courtesy. He mentioned that he noticed that the last payment was very late: however, they were supposed to send a Statement to the condo assoc., which we never received. When they called many weeks later about an outstanding balance, we told them we had not received a statement, they then sent it and we paid the bill promptly.

The service was very good. The guy really knew what he was doing. I didn't mind paying a little extra for the late night service and it was worth it. The cable had broken and there were some other things that needed attention as well. He worked fast and showed me the parts and explained every step. It was nice to recieve that attention.

Our garage door got stuck half way through. We called a company that installed this door originally. They came and informed us that they needed to order a part from Europe. Therefore, it would take a minimum of 4 weeks to get it. They give us a second option of installing a new door for $1,200. So, we decide to call Crystal Overhead Door, Inc. They came next day on time. They did not leave until they figured out what was wrong with our garage door. They fixed everything in a very short time for very small amount of money. I would definitely use them again and I would recommend them to my friends and family. They exceeded our expectations by far.

We have called these guys on a number of occasions over the last 2 years, based on their Angie's reputation. Our garage door keeps breaking down, and we keep calling them back, sometime more than once in a week. I'm kind of a "give 'em the benefit of the doubt" kind of person, but now I'm officially irritated. On two occasions now they have stood us up -- most recently last week after I took a half-day of vacation and waited for them all day, and once when my upstairs neighbor waited for them some months ago to no avail. I am starting to think that there is a reason we have to keep calling them back -- why can't they diagnose the garage problem and get the thing fixed so we don't have to keep calling them back every few months? The owner has always been polite and professional, and he came out himself once among the multiple times they've been out here. Nonetheless, we've had it and are going to look for another company that is more reliable, and hopefully, can fix the door with some consistency. I'm giving this a "D" for Overall simply because I think that people roll their eyes at "F's" and write them off as people who are professional complainers. I am mostly definitely an "A" and "B" kind of person, but I've had it.

My garage door was not functioning.It would not go up! Crystal Door came out immediately to look at the problem. As it turned out the old door was made of a wood fiber material and with all the rain had held onto the water, became so heavy that it could not go up. The door was bowing and they said it was unsafe. It actually might collapse on the cars or someone. I made a decision to have it replaced.They had sample colors in their truck, gave me an estimate right there, I gave them a down payment and that was it. They came back the next afternoon and replaced the old door. The entire process was very easy. I didn't have to be home for them to replace the door.

Our garage door spring broke along with a bracket came off the wall and tore a piece of our wooden garage door off. We left a message with Crystal Overhead Door that night and they got back to us the next day. They fit us into their schedule that morning and came out to assess the situation. They gave us a cost for repair and for replacing the door and would be able to do so the next day. We ended up going with another company that was able to do the work that day and were slightly less expensive. I would still recommend Crystal because they were professional and were able to fit us into their schedule so quickly. I also received a follow-up call from the owner a day later which was good customer service.

They came out when it was 10 degrees. They fixed it quickly, right when they said they would and charged just what they said it would be, which is always nice. I would definitely recommend them.

Awesome. I called early this morning (7:45 on a pouring wet Friday morning) and was greeted by a very cheery employee who was more than happy to help me. He indicated that someone could be available at around noon, and that they would call me an hour prior so that I could get home from work in time to meet the service technician. They kept in contact, and the friendly technician arrived at around 1:15, did the job quickly, fixed the problem and voila - the garage door works again.

Yes, zero dollars (but don't always expect that!). I called Crystal Doors and the person (forgot his name! super nice!) actually TALKED ME THROUGH fixing the problem. I mean, he fixed it over the phone! I am very grateful; that is very generous. And I will call Crystal Doors the next time my neighbor decides to bang the garage door! Thanks, man! Ten minutes, zero dollars, that's a real business.

I've used them several times before. They are a lot less expensive for the same work as other competitive quotes. They are pretty prompt and usually offer same day service. They are available for emergency service calls after hours and on weekends.
