The man who came explained to me what the problem was and said it was an easy fix. Then he didn't charge me anything for coming out and performing the service! I would definitely use this company again.

I had a very positive experience with Crystal Overhead Door, Inc. I have a 2-flat on Chicago's NW side. I rent both apartments and the garage. I was able to schedule same day service on a Saturday. Since I don't live there, the technician called me an hour before he was set to arrive so I could meet him there. Crystal Overhead is offering a coupon. I'd asked the woman on the phone if there would be value for me to buy the coupon. She said 'probably not' and guessed what the problem was suggesting the repair would be between $135 and $175. She was exactly right and I appreciated that she saved me $49.99 from purchasing the coupon which offered preventive maintenance. Tom showed up 10 minutes early, assessed the problem accurately and fixed it on the spot. In addition, he showed me some preventive maintenance techniques to avoid this problem in the future. I recommend this company highly and will definitely use them in the future.

I called Crystal Overhead Door to get an estimate on replacing the garage door opener as well as an estimate for replacing the 7'x16' door itself. The woman who answered the phone was very polite and professional. Within minutes we had an appointment scheduled. Joel showed up right on time and was able to give me an estimate for both jobs. He did try to repair/adjust the existing unit to get it to open and close properly again but was unable to do so. Neither I nor any of the other companies from whom we received estimates were able to fix it either so I wasn't surprised. Replacing the entire door is more than we can afford right now, so we decided to replace the opener at this time as the old one was failing to open the door without manual assistance. Joel didn't have everything needed to replace the opener on that first visit but promised to come back within a few days to perform the work. Unfortunately that didn't happen and I had to call them back to inquire about the job. This time Eric, the owner, answered the phone and handled my call very professionally. He apologized as we had apparently slipped through the cracks. Another appointment was scheduled and Joel was back out to perform the work in no time. Joel also apologized for failing to return after the last visit. His work and attitude more than made up for any issues I might have had. He clearly knows what he's doing and completed the job quickly and efficiently. After a few good snows the opener began having issues and the door would fail to close unless we stood in the garage and held the opener button down until the door was completely closed. I called back and they had a guy out to make an adjustment to the photo eyes right away. Since that last visit we've had no trouble with the opener. Dealing with Crystal Overhead Door Inc was a real pleasure. They are very professional, responsive and knowledgeable about their business. We dealt with four different people and every one of them was amazingly polite and courteous. With the exception of the one oversight, they did what they said, when they said they would do it and within the cost estimate they had given. I can't really ask for better than that.

The garage door wasn't working after the heavy snowfall. I called Crystal and Eric answered. He explained that I would probably need a gear replaced based on my description of the problem and quoted the price of $175. The other service I called (not from Angie's list) wanted me to replace the whole garage door opener which would cost $375. Joel arrived promptly before the scheduled time(he called first to see if this was ok) serviced the gear in 10 minutes and only charged $125. Thank you Crystal, I saved money and had the service done quickly!

I was extremely impressed with the entire experience from start to finish. The receptionist answering the phone was polite and courteous. They offered to to fix the door the same day I called. The technician was very professional and arrived during the designated time. He fixed the problem quickly. He did not try to sell me anything else or charge me any additional fees than what I had been told prior to the service call. I would definitely call Crystal Overhead Door again. He also honored my Angie's list discount without any question, which has not always happened with other companies. They made the whole experience easy and affordable.

We had a problem with our garage door that finally resulted in it not working anymore. I called Crystal Overhead and they came out the next day to take a look and fixed it. The service tech was fast and efficient. He fixed the problem in about 60-75 minutes and explained the problem. Great to work with and quick service and response. Thanks!

They were very nice on the phone but my old guy that I have used got back to me so I cancelled. The brief interaction I had with them was good. They were very pleasant and gave me an appointment quickly.

The garage door malfunctioned on Sunday evening. I called the company on Monday morning and was able to get an appointment for Tuesday between 8:00 am and 12:00 noon. He gave me a call about 8:45 am and said he would be here in 10 to 20 minutes. He arrived about 9:05 am . We talked about what he could do and the price We agreed he would do the work. He completed the work within 40 minutes. Overall he was punctual, professional, and knowledgeable. It was a pleasant experience. I will be using them again when I eventionally replace the door.

It worked out better then I expected. They could have tried to make it something more than it was, but took care of the problem quickly and efficiently. I could not have been happier.

They were friendly on the phone. Set up an appointment and actually showed up when they said they would. The installers were fast and efficient and did the job exactly as expected, high quality. The price was extremely reasonable. We will definitely use them again. A+

The service man was punctual. When he got there I showed him the problem and he took one look at the back of the motor unit and showed me two dials. One dial adjusts the strength of the uplift, the other dial adjusts the strength of the down function. He turned the dial of the uplift up to 5 so that the motor would give the door more power when raising. The cold weather was causing the door to stop because the strength of the motor was set to 1. This fixed the problem, it took all of 5 minutes and it didn't cost me a cent! Beats the heck out of the other estimate I got for $275 to put in new springs.

When i got home my garage door would not open. It looks like the spring broke. I was planning to fix it myself, but due to very cooled weather outside I decided to call a profesional. I found Crystal at angiestlist and called for an appointment.The technician came at said time and began to check. The spring is broken and he qouted me for the $175 price. I agreed and he began to remove the old and install the replacement spring. The job was done in less that 30 minutes; start to finish. Yes i would hire them again(not that soon i hope)..

They were easy to contact and set-up an appointment. Joel the technician thoroughly checked out the door opener, and initially thought that the safety sensors and possibly the circuit board were defective. However, he did not have either of these in his truck,and would have to come back later in the day. He said we didn't have to stay home waiting for his his return since we had places to go, as long as we left the service door unlocked. When we returned from our errands about 2 hours later we found our invoice and the old parts in our garage and the door operating perfectly and smoothly. This was earlier than we had expected. We were charged $75 for the service call and $65 for the new sensors, and after their $25 Angies List coupon out net cost was only $115, which I felt was very reasonable.

Very well. They came out and opened the broken door for us so we could get cars out over the weekend and then came back promptly the next week to install the new door.

When the cable broke on my garage door opener, I feared I would need a whole new door and opener because my very old garage was not level. I suspected this was throwing the garage door out of alignment and causing the problem. When I called Crystal Overhead, I explained this to them. When the actual service man called to say he was on the way, I again repeated this. In other words, I gave them every chance to upsell me, to sell me a whole new door and opener for hundreds of dollars. I'm pleased to say they didn't take me up on it. The technician told me that my door and system was in fine shape and just needed the simple repair. He was in and out in no time, and I was out just $125. They were also very responsive. I called on a Monday morning. They were out to fix it on Tuesday afternoon.

The technician from Crystal Overhead Door was very knowledgeable, and the company matched a lower price that I had received from another bidder.

Service man was polite and arrived at the time he said he would. Kept me informed of the work he was doing. He did not have the bottom gasket to fit the door so he installed an aluminum track that would accommodate the new gasket on both doors. Worked for about 1/2 hour installing track and gasket. Work was of good quality and expeditiously done. However, the $300+ charge for gasket replacement( including a $75 service charge), was something that I wasn't prepared for. Next time, I'll get an estimate before contracting for work.

I opted to replace the motor assembly as opposed to waiting a week for a new gear to arrive for the 10yr old existing unit. Geraldo worked fast and neatly. He had the new unit in place and took the time to lubricate all joints of the door, and spring assembly too. He also programmed my built in car remote buttons in both vehicles, which was nice. I'd call them again if/when I need service on the door and would recommend them.

They initially came out on 9-17-20 for the estimate. Came back on 9-21-10 when they said they would, replaced the sensors quickly and cleaned up the area. I would definitely use them again.

They did a fine job. They come out on time.

Contacted Crystal Door and notified them that my garage door was not operating properly. My call was placed after normal business hours and I simply left a message as I didn't feel our situation required an emergency call. At 8:15 the following morning Eric from Crystal Door was calling to set up the appointment for that day. My obligations prevented an appointment for that day but they were able to accommodate me the following day. Tom was our service tech. and he was awesome. He called to make sure I knew he was on his way and he was well within the appointment window. Once he arrived he listened carefully to the issue with the door, took a few minutes to evaluate the situation and worked quickly to remedy the problem after going through a series of checks on the door, tracks, hinges, springs and opener. He answered any questions I had fully and made sure I knew what he was looking for as he went. Within a few minutes he had made some minor adjustments and had the door working perfectly. He also told me a few tips to keep my garage door healthy for a long life (WD40 hinges and rails). This is the second time I have used Crystal Door and I could not be more satisfied with their performance. On time, courteous, and pleasant to work with, and their prices are reasonable.

This company is responsive, if an emergency requires relatively rapid response. I called in the early morning and they were here by early afternoon. Tom, the workman, was pleasant, but unprepared for such a low-tech request as lubricating the garage door track or springs, which seemed curious to me. He did, however, have a new remote control unit stocked on his truck. He programmed the settings to correlate with those on my ServiceMaster lift. Someone from the company called a few days after the visit to request that I write a recommendation on some other customer website. I told the employee that I only patronized Angie's List and he requested a write-up here. As this company offered no discount coupon, placed installation waste in my garbage can, and did not modify the home visit price, given the small scale of the work needed (originally merely connecting the door and carriage), I found this recommendation request somewhat brazen. In the end I at least got some value by purchasing another remote control unit (something long considered as a backup) and having the technician program it to my lift's settings. However, I perceived little real effort to be customer service oriented or flexible about pricing, if a situation warranted a reasonable fee modification. We had a three day electrical system outage in the area, which was a real tragedy. We lost all food in the refrigersator and freezer and had some associated problems with varied systems when eventually the power surged on. We disengaged the door from the track to rescue the car and make transportation possible during the period. We explained the nature of the problem via phone when scheduling the appointment (the inability to re-engage the door post pulling the red cord) and the power failure fandango. As I subsequently learned, the directions probably could have been given orally via phone without a visit or the appointment provided at a lower cost for a long-time customer (8 years). In short, this company did nothing to win my loyalty in future and sought for me to do them a courtesy -- though they extended to me no similar treatment.

They came out promptly to fix free of charge. Since they had already come out to fix our springs that broke earlier in the week they did not charge us for the service of fixing our sensors. I believe this company to be fair and to do quality work.
