Description of Work: Wire for garage door opener was ran diagonally across garage ceiling, looks horrible so I had to fix that myself as the installer was in a hurry to leave. | |The installer stole my old garage door motor he was replacing (Which worked fine I just wanted the internet features of the new models) without asking and took it with him even though it worked fine and I was planning to use it at a different house. | |I have a 3 car garage and wanted 2 remotes. One for 2door, one for single door lift. He programmed them backwards and made remote 1 have door 3 open door 1, and door 1 open door 3 and then the second remote flipped where button 1 opened garage 3 and button 3 garage 1. The result? I had to reprogram all the remotes, and the wireless panel outside. Wasted 30 minutes of my time.

Description of Work: The garage door opener's belt had snapped. I needed that fixed. However, upon arrival and inspection he noticed other parts were "out of whack." I'm a bit leary about up sales, but the minor fixes he'd do them gratis, but the new timed garage door closure he'd have to charge me. When he was finished the garage floor looked cleaner than ever, he produced a manual for the closer, advised me about maintenance and potential problems in the future. I had no idea garage doors were so complicated! Moral of the story? If you build a garage ask the builder to forget everything to do with garage doors. And then call Crystal Overhead Door Inc.

They said I was scheduled for the next day but upon a little more digging, they realized they marked it down wrong. They sent out a technician over right away. Thank you for your review. Door and opener parts do fail as time goes by so preventative maintenance is a way to check over all parts before they fail. This should be done annually if not quarterly. We offer this as a service as well if you are not able to do this your self.

He gave me suggestions on how to prevent the squeaking that precipitated my call. Description of Work: This is technically my 2nd time using Crystal Overhead Door even though they've been out a few more times than that. The first was when my spring broke - they came out and fixed it promptly. Sadly, my door opener decided that that was around the time it would start mysteriously failing. A few different guys came out (at no additional charge) and couldn't reliably duplicate the problem; I thought maybe it was cold related. When the weather finally warmed up, it still wasn't working. Tom came out, diagnosed everything based on what I was able to relay to him and gave me a great deal on a new opener.

The extreme cold temperatures we had this past season can cause havoc on garage doors and openers. It may have been a contributing factor in your situation. This Spring and Summer season is the best time to prepare your door and opener before the temperature drops again. Periodically check your door and opener for a smooth running operation. Listen to the sounds so you become familiar and when the sounds change or the door just doesn't look right, give us a call to come and take a look. Prevent the all time catastrophe of having your car trapped in the frigid temperatures.

We replaced extension springs, cables and pulleys. With extension springs when they break it can send the door off kilter. Keep an eye on wear with these as the years pass to try to keep any repairs to a minimum and your door balanced to operate at it's best. Thank you for the review.
