Chicago Appliance Service Co - Chicago Suburban

It was an excellent experience. We called Chicago Appliance believing we would have to wait until after the Labor Day weekend to have the work done. But Rich called us back and said he could come over the morning of Labor Day. We described the problem and he seemed to know immediately what was wrong. He showed up on time (actually about 5 minutes early) and got right to it. He explained the process as he worked. He was very knowledgable of the model and it did not take him very long to identify the problem and already had the needed parts in his truck. It was quick, painless and Rich saved us from a big headache.

Called as my freezer was not working properly, received call back within 5 mins for appointment next day. David, the technician was very courteous and on time. He identified the issue immediately, gave me an estimate and was able to make the repairs immediately. I would definitely use this company again.

Before our agreed upon window of 9am-Noon I received a call from Rich (the service tech) that he was running AHEAD of schedule and he was on his way to my place! When does that ever happen! Rich arrived and was friendly and professional and got right to work. It took him just a few minutes to figure out what was wrong and how to repair it. In a matter of about 15 minutes everything was taken care of for a price that I found to be absolutely reasonable. I will definitely use Chicago Appliance Service again should I need them and will always have high expectations of their services from such a strong first experience.

It could not have been any better. My call went to voicemail and was returned promptly. Once we set a schedule, the repairman was on time even in the thunderstorm. He was friendly and professional. He inspected the machine, told me what was needed and gave me the price which was exactly the same as the estimate. He showed me what he replaced and testing the machine to ensure proper performance. The work was done quickly; he was in and out in about 30 minutes. He also struck the right balance for friendliness and professionalism. He chatted enough to be cordial but didn't engage in long conversations as some people do. Great job

It went very well. The vendor communicates well, and the service technician, David, was very professional, polite, and kept me informed. He diagnosed what he expected to find over the phone (narrowing it down to the 2 most common causes for my issue) and gave me a range of expected costs. The result was that the repair was within that tolerance and he left me the broken part (the defrost heater) for my review. Upon repair, the fridge and freezer began cooling immediately and has been working like a charm ever since (about a week ago). In short, they charged what they said they would (no surprises) and both the service call response and actual repair were completed quickly. Again, very professional and polite. They get my highest marks!

I called after noon on Saturday and left a message with Chicago Appliance's answering service. Rich the technician called me within minutes and within 2 hours Rich arrived with the proper part and fixed the oven. He was prompt and professional. And the work was done quickly and well. Very pleased. Would have wished the part was less expensive, but thats the way it goes. Better than a new stove!

My call to the company was very smooth and the repairman showed up promptly the next day as scheduled. Our problem was that the refrigerator wasn't making ice and there was a small leak on the back of the refrigerator. The repair was made quickly. We were initially unhappy with the price, but the company's owner was willing to go the extra mile and negotiate with us. All in all, a fair deal.

They called me back in 35 minutes of my leaving a message which I thought was very prompt. However, they said they currently have no technician to serve the Chicago (city) lakefront, even though their website indicates that they do serve my zip code. I live in zip code 60614 (Lincoln Park). I had seen a review from February 2014 (6 months ago) and apparently that person had the same problem (in zip code 60610, Old Town/Gold Coast). It was a waste of time to pursue them and I question if they truly plan to serve this area given that this was going on 6 months ago. If they decide to not serve the area, they should up date their service area to not frustrate others in the future.

David called an hour ahead to tell me when he would arrive during the window I had been given. He was very polite,informative and professional.

Richard, my technician, was EXCELLENT!!! He went out of his way to make the repairs and explained everything. I would recommend this company to anyone in need of appliance repair. Ask for Richard -- he's the BEST!!!

As other members reported, the answering service promised a call back within 15 minutes. I got that call and was relieved that I would get an appointment within 3.5 hours. When I asked for a more specific window, they gave me a 2 hour window, allowing me to go get more ice for our coolers. Just before my appointment, they called my cell phone to verify that I would be home. The repairman was quick to diagnose the problem, telling me the compressor wasn't working. He cleaned the coils with a brush and replaced the relay switches. He said to avoid a recurrence, it would be a good idea to clean the coils once a year. A buildup of cat hair and dust had overworked the system. Since the service call yesterday, the refrigerator is working as it should. We're happy that the repair was quick, we didn't need to replace the refrigerator, and our household is back to normal.

Called up the dispatcher, technician responded within 15 minutes, set up an appointment for 2 days later (not an emergency - my dishwasher was functioning with help from duct tape). Called 15 minutes before he arrived, went to work, ordered part, came back the next work day (Monday) and replaced. On Monday the technician was running about an hour late, and he called me to let me know. Dishwasher now works without duct tape and looks like it did when we first bought it. Exactly what I expected from all of the other reviews - professional, responsive, and good work. Ideally I would like for the process to be cheaper, but that's just not reality.

I called around 6pm on Monday, and they were able to come the next day at a time that was convenient for my wife and toddler. This was a repair in my father-in-laws house, and since he was out of town, we were handling this repair. They worked around my son's nap schedule, which was extremely helpful. While I was not the one present for the repair, my wife said they showed up on time and called her about 15-20 minutes before they arrived, which was very helpful since my wife had to drive 5 minutes from our apartment to my in-law's house. They put in a new thermostat. Since the refrigerator had a lot of mildew, we had to clean it out before turning it on to make sure it worked. After cleaning, we turned on and it still did not work properly- would turn on but after a while would not work, but they came out again, the very next day. There was no extra charge for the second visit- which beat my expectations. Once again, they really couldn't verify the repair since the fridge was full of mildew. I would use them again.

I called the answering service at around 8:30 am. Within 15 minutes I received a call to discuss the issue and schedule a time. By 10:00 am, the serviceman, Mario, arrived. He was very professional and very knowledgable. Based on our discussions over the phone, he brought replacement parts for different models of our brand of the dryer, replaced the part in a short time, cleaned the built up dirt and lint over the past several years within the dryer unit and advised about how to prolong the life of the dryer and washer. I would highly recommend this company.

I contacted the company around noon on Friday after contacting the other companies KitchenAid referred me to as "approved providers". Finding disappointing reviews here and on Yelp I went in search and found this Chicago Appliance Service Com. They called me back within an hour of my leaving a message. I told them the problem and they said they would call me back if it was in stock--which it was. Mario called to say he had one other call and would try to get to me the same day unfortunately, I had to leave for an appointment by 4:30. We schedule for 9 AM on Saturday morning and he was very prompt. He replaced the broken sprayer that hangs from top rack, cleaned out the dishwasher, gave me some tips on how to maintain it, etc. He tried to save me some money by only replacing specifically what was broken but the connection thing could not be repaired. I appreciated the effort. He provided an estimate of the work and parts before he completed the actual work. I am very satisfied with the work and advice provided and would not hesitate to use them again.

We had no heat in our Maytag dryer. Within 40 minutes of our original call, the serviceman, Rich, was at our house. He replaced the heating coils, and the dryer now seems to be working fine. He was friendly and professional, and explained exactly what needed to be done.He even vacuumed the floor beneath the dryer. This is the second time we've used this company, and we're very pleased with their responsiveness and service. We had Rich the previous time for a washer problem, and we were equally satisfied then.

Came home from work and found our freezer had stopped working and our kitchen floor was covered in water. I called Chicago Appliance Services (after hours - around 7:30pm) and asked them to come by. Initially they said they couldn't come until the following day. I pushed back and they agreed to come check out our issue within the hour. They showed up right on time, they diagnosed the problem, but didn't have the proper parts (not a common repair issue). They returned the next day (at a time that was convenient for us) and fixed the issue within 30 minutes. They were prompt, courteous, clean and professional. If I needed another appliance repaired, I wouldn't hesitate in contacting these folks again.

David came to check out the problem. He tested to see if a $200+ valve needed to be replaced and after determining that it didn't, told me our thermostats in our refrigerator were set a little too high. He recommended raising them, which he did, to see if that would solve the problem. He determined the reservoir might be frozen. If that didn't work after a few days, he suggested that we turn off the refrigerator for 24 hours and then turn it back on. The $69 is the standard fee they charge to come out and assess the problem. He told me if the issue didn't resolve itself, he would come back and the $69 would be deducted from any repair costs. I appreciated his honesty. Lucky for us, two days later the water dispenser started working, again. Thanks, Dave!

I called them on a Sunday afternoon and received a call back in about an hour offering to come by first thing in the morning! Ended up scheduling for a day later. Rich called ahead to let me know he would be there in 20 minutes and was very much on time. He was very knowledgeable and had the problem fixed in only about 10 minutes, including some notes on how to keep some future problems from occurring. Big thumbs up.

I left a message with their 24-hour answering service and received a timely return call. When I explained the issue, was told it sounded like a bearing had gone bad. Upon more discussion, got to the details that my washing machine is front-loading and separate from the dryer, but they are stacked inside a small closet. Turns out their team is too small to handle such a job since it would require multiple technicians to handle the heavy lifting/moving, etc. Since the machine isn't old but I couldn't remember exactly its age, he suggested I contact Abt where it had been purchased, since it may be still under warranty. I now know that the machine is 1.5 years and not under warranty, so will have to contact another service provider. If I had a repair that they could handle, I would consider contacting them again for service.

Great! David our service rep was thorough and time efficient. He explained what he was doing and why it needed to be done.

I called in the morning and the owner responded immediately to my call. I told him that I had to leave the house within a short time and he came very quickly to accommodate my schedule. He was most pleasant and helpful. I would certainly use his services again.

First off, I had a very good experience with the technician. He was punctual, helpful and came early for the appointment. There's a few reasons why I didn't give this company an 'A' rating however: - They use a convoluted answering service to handle service calls. Unfortunately, the operators have no idea what the company's policies are so you have to provide a phone number and wait for someone to call back. Once you do receive a call back, you explain the issue to someone who works with the company, and then wait for another call to confirm an appointment time. Not exactly what I'd call efficient, especially if you can't wait by the phone. - If they don't end up performing any repairs, you don't receive the advertised 10% discount. While I realize most people end up having repairs done, it's a little misleading that it doesn't apply to the standard service call fee. I looked for mention of it on their website and couldn't find it. - The tech who came to help me needed my assistance moving the fridge in and out of the space. I was happy to do it, but I wonder what would happen if someone made a service call and wasn't physically able to assist? Granted, none of these are exactly deal breakers, but based on the reviews I read I was expecting a seamless experience from start to finish. Bottom line, I will probably do a little more shopping around on Angie's List next time I need an appliance repair.

I have a side-by-side style fridge. I noticed in the freezer that the ice was melting in the top of the freezer, but it was cold on the bottom. Also on the fridge side it was warm on the top and cold on the bottom. This happened on the weekend - I decided I'd wait until Monday to call a provider. So, I called 7:15 am on Monday (they have an answering service). I got a call back within the hour and by 10am they had replaced the part to fix the issue (it was a problem with the electronic board that drives the compressor). Very quick and efficient and they cleaned up after themselves (i.e. cleaned off some water that got on the floor and swept up dust that resulted from moving the fridge out to do the repair)

great. the repair person was punctual and clear about the process and charges. no subsequent issues with the washer so I'm happy.
