Horrible! Very unsatisfying.

They answered our emergency call on a Saturday night quickly and came out Sunday to rod. After rodding the toilet, they stated they could not go beyond due to an obstruction and suggested we allow them to dig out our front yard to install clean-out. We had to request they show us on camera since they stated they "thought" it was a broken pipe but wanted to dig out the yard to find out before showing us. They came on Monday to do the work and it went well except we were stuck cleaning up after them and a mess was left everywhere. This was weird to me since most contractors clean up after themselves. The handle to our water hose also went missing after they used it to clean out the pipes. There is currently a big pile of dirt and sewage on our front yard . We did not like all the mess but had no choice. What I disliked the most was that there was no discount for being an Angie's List Member but I keep seeing Groupons now for similar services at much less. Another dislike was that without prior approval, they charged us an additional $250 I believe (my husband paid) when they were done. They did not even warn us that it would be more money from what we had already signed on the contract. Overall, okay service.

Jessie arrived and was able to fix four items for me. In most cases he was able to fix them much easier than I had anticipated. He fixed an outside faucet that I thought was broken, but just needed a new seal. He installed a new basin in the basement for our laundry. He disconnected the old unit and cleaned everything before reassembly. The new unit works fine. He also disconnected and old water softner and redirected the piping. Lastly I asked if he could look at a toilet. This was not originally planned. He was able to identify the problem and was still able to fix this all within the two hour period. I would use Jessie again in the future.

He did the job on a Saturday and mentioned that it was not covered under the big deal since it was a saturday and that drain cleaning was not covered. That is fine. He charged 210 for drain cleaning which seem to be a little high, but since it was my tenent's place and I did not want to inconvenience them, I decided not to shop around and asked him to do that job. So I decided not to give him A on the price. Next, he cut a access hole to be able to get deep, which was fine, but I would consider that as part of the job, not an extra thing by any means, he kept saying he did a favor by not charging for it. We disagree on that. Also when he closed the access hole, he used a rubber coupling rather than using a proper pvc Y connector. I pointed that out to him and he said he will have to charge me extra for it (charge me extra to do it right?), which I don't think was fair, not sure if he realizes that 210 is a decent amount of money and should very well be enough for his time to do it right. We disagree on that too, I gave him a B instead of A on quality because of that, but he did clean it well, no complains from my tenants so far! Another issue was, there was a leak in one of the water lines for which I thought the whole section of the pipe needs to be replaced. He was nice in suggesting a simpler way to fix it, and we agreed on 40 for that for labor, as long as I get the part he wanted. He put it in. But towards the end, after we agreed that the big deal would not apply for any of the work, he said I owed him 99 dollars on top of what I paid him. I had to have a embarrassing argument with him in front of my tenants which left a bad taste in my mouth. He later backed down and said it was miss-communication, come on...

He was very good, no complaints. He was very efficient. We changed the time of the appointment at the last minute and he was still able to come right away. He was great.

I trusted Captain Rooter to buy the new faucet I needed. The one he purchased was reasonably priced and looks great !! He SAVED me money - but figuring out how to fix something in a simpler way -- instead of a more complicated way that would have been more expensive. In addition to being on time and doing the job well - Captain Rooter - was also a nice guy to spend several hours with. Unlike some repairmen I've dealt with in the past ...(not Angie referrals) ...Captain Rooter - was very social. We talked about world affairs, our famliies and stuff in the local news -- and he never missed a beat - as he continued to make repairs. I've been in my home for a dozen years -- before I had to deal with a plumbing problem. I guess I've been lucky in that respect. I consider myself lucky again-- because I picked Captain Rooter - to fix things.

Jessie arrived promptly within the 2 hour time window agreed upon. He was courteous and professional and answered all of my questions about the work he was doing. He also replaced the aerator with the parts I had purchased elsewhere at no additional charge.

I had an Angie's deal for 4 hours of plumbing services. Although Jesse was late, he apologized profusely. then I took him on a tour of the house we had just purchased. He said most things I was asking about were OK and didn't need work. I do need to replace a faucet and a toilet (he advised that a repair would cost as much as just buying a new one, so a new one it is!). He said he could provide the parts, but that it would be cheaper for me to buy them at Home Depot myself. He'll come back to install. Jesse didn't even charge me for the visit!

He responded to my original request right away, and set an appt. I was told he would come between 9 and noon last Wed. On that morning, he called at 15 minutes till noon, to say he was on his way, and arrived at about 20 minutes or so after noon. He sent a message, asking what my issues/problems were, beforehand, and DID seem to fix both of them when he was here. He fixed the toilet right away by replacing the clapper (which he charged me $10 for). He cleaned the bathtub drain. Personally, I did not know that rodding and drain cleaning were considered to be the same thing. My suggestion is that the word "rodding" should be used in his list of items not covered by the $99 "deal", to avoid confusion. In my customer mind, I thought it was ALL plumbing. It all worked out ok, and he was fair and professional.

Guest Bath Sink - The concern was the slowness with which the water drained from the lavatory. Jesse quickly assessed it had nothing to do with routing out the pipes. It was the stopper. He re-aligned it and once this was done, the water flow was greatly improved. Master Bath Sink - Again, the slowness with which the water drained from the lavatory was at issue. Again Jesse readily assessed it was a stopper issue. Another concern with this sink was the poor water pressure. Jesse checked the valves and realized they were only 1/4 opened. When fully opened, the water pressure was superb. Guest Bath Toilet - The toilet refilled very slowed and the flushing handle was sticking. Jesse tightened the flushing handle and adjusted the water flow valve and the problem was solved. These jobs took about 45 minutes to complete. I was delighted with the results.

It went very well, firstly he inspected my problem and gave me an estimate; my drain was stopped up in my basement and it was dark in the basement due to blown bulb, but the service provider had his own light and did not miss a beet. He rodded the drain, but it still did not drain; however the service provider did not give up and found the problem. I really appreciated that he kept me informed as to why he was doing a particular action. He also fixed my toilet and repaired pipe in the kitchen within my two hour window that my coupon covered. I plan to have him come back out and do some other plumbing jobs.

He came on time and did what he was supposed to do. I would recommend them and I would use them again.

this man tried immediately to con my wife into paying more money as soon as he walked in the door. He gave her a song and dance about water lines being to tall and having to adjust levels and driving time and fuel...he wound up charging us $185.00 extra in addition to the $99.00 deal although he was supposed to do "plumbing labor" for 2 hours he insisted that he had to do too many things like hook up a drain and garbage disposal and he would have to reconfigure the pipes, making it sound as if he would be much longer than the two hours and would have to charge me more.....sounds like plumbing to me...the entire job took him exactly 2 hours and 15 minutes including the time he took to go to the hardware store for parts(20 minutes) and the time he spent on the telephone and texting???After reevaluating he said he could take care of everything with no problem.When done he gave my wife another song and dance so she called me because she was home alone and very uncomfortable. I spoke with him on the phone from work and asked him why he was charging us $185.00 for 15 minutes work and he began to tell me the same story that he told her that the work was difficult and that he had fuel costs and traveling time and it was more difficult than he thought, the pipes were too tall and that the disposal wouldn't fit and amazingly after I asked my wife to pay him the extra $185.00 everything fit...What a surprise! I'm sorry that I wasn't home to deal with this, it's just another example of a ruthless contractor taking advantage of a woman alone. Precisely the reason that we decided to use Angie's list...to avoid this type of treatment. I am truly appalled and disappointed and I hope you take some action.

My toilet had been making a hissing sound for quite a while. Despite the fact that my water was turned off the day Jesse came (due to construction outside my house), he still was able to fix the problem just by my description. He was in and out without 25 minutes. Great guy and did a great job.

I purchased a coupon for two hours of plumbing work for $99. I was contacted by Captain Rooter Plumbing the next day after purchasing the coupon. Mr. Arellano arrived punctually and completed each task with a high level of professionalism. In addition to his obvious knowledge about all aspects of plumbing, he was also very personable, very efficient. I would not hesitate contacting Captain Rooter Plumbing again.

All clear no problems. Very proffessional.

Very punctual. Overall great experience. The only possible negative was that they had to get additional parts (realized when the new standard sink didn't match up with the existing connections.) "Maybe" this could have been seen before starting project, not a negative . . . bu,t stuff happens. Jesse was still $200 cheaper than other quotes.

I called to have water drained from my catch space. They were supposed to show up Saturday. They didn't show up on time. I called an hour after they were supposed to be there. The guy got on the phone and said "Yeah, maam, you need a plumber?" I told him that I just I need to have my catch space drained and he told me that would be $695! The job is only $250-$275. I, of course, declined! I chose another company!

It went well, very courteous and IMPRESSIVE!!. Have not flooded since. i would recommend to everybody. Jesse quoted me for the job he was very pleasant to deal with. He also fixed two leaks free of charge. He's so nice.

called out Captain Rooter, they showed up on time, the plumbers name was Jesse, he came in and look at the problem ,told me that the drain need it to be clean out and told me up front the cost of the job. He was very professional and knew was he was doing, he fixed the problem and left no mess was very clean and professional, and my bathtub runs GREAT!!!!

Very pleasant worker, Jesse explained why a new faucet was needed, left no mess, everything went well. Great Job! I would use Captain Rooter Plumbing in the future. ****** Ms. Cordova ******

Called out Rooter 911 cause my basement was flooding they came fast and on time, they rod it out the drain and pump out the water, they put a sewer camera and found a broken pipe in my basement, they gave me an estimate to repair it that was reasonable and I also ask how much more was to install a flood control since they had to dig it up anyways, I was shocked that the price was not too much more to fix the broken pipe and install the flood control system, the total was $4.800 which I had got other estimates from other companies and their prices were a lot higher, they came out the next day to start the job and completed the following day, they clean up very well and I Am very satisfied with the work and costumer service that the company offer me.

On March 6, 2009 I had plumbing work performed by Fernando Arellano and his associate Wally to improve water pressure in our shower and consequently the relating bathroom sink. Fernando arrived on March 5 with an associate named Joseph to price the job at $700. I found their information and my assessment of their skills acceptable and did not even seek another quote. We agreed that they return the next day (March 6, around noon after my medical appointment) to begin the work. Fernando worked especially hard. I have a sizable house with 13 stairs to the basement and he was up and down them a lot. I gave him a hand rodder and Wally showed him how to use it hooked up to a power tool. Fernando had to make several trips to stores and the home office to get tools or materials. Wally left early and in a hurry, around 5:00 before the job was complete and I thought it unusual. I had my husband buy some White Castle burgers for all of us, including Fernando, because he had been busy all day and I was sure he was hungry. It was around the time we were eating that we discovered that a brand new digital camera that was lying open gently in its box all day on the dining room table was now missing along with its media stick, but the box remained, empty. Fernando acknowledged that it had been there and even that the protective film had still been on the viewer. He was angry and very concerned about losing his job and promised me that he would either have my camera back for me tomorrow or the payment when he came back to finish the job. I assured him I would not inform his employer if he and I could work out reimbursement between us. We gave him lollipops and chocolates for his baby daughter and called it a night. We could see he was exhausted and visibly upset about the camera. The next day Fernando returned with Joseph who also acknowledged the new camera?s presence on the dining room table as described above. Fernando said Wally said I moved it when I wanted to photograph the work of an earlier contractor. But I led Fernando to a nearby kitchen drawer where two analog cameras were and explained that I don?t know how to use the digital camera. That?s why the film was still on the viewer. They finished the work. It appeared to be an excellent job, with acceptable clean up. I wrote two checks totaling $700 payable to The Mighty Rooter King and signed the paperwork. Fernando had worked very hard and I was sorry that this event happened. But all five of us agreed the camera was there and went missing on March 6 during the course of their work and I was entitled to reimbursement. I showed Fernando the paperwork that the camera cost $89.99, which he agreed to pay in the presence of Joseph and my husband, Lee. We agreed to meet again on the following Sunday, but canceled due to bad weather. I called Fernando intermittently to set appointments to proceed with reimbursement; each time he stood me up with out even calling me to explain why. Sensing he was having a difficult time coming up with the money, I offered an alternative: he could rod a drain in my basement and I would call it even. Again we made appointments and again he stood me up. I concluded he no longer felt any obligation to me, therefore I felt I had no option but to seek reimbursement from Fernando?s employer ? The Mighty Rooter King -- for the sum of $89.99. Which I did.

I was disappointed in the job. I think he could have tried harder. I felt like they were more interested in getting more money. My friend was able to get the sink draining. I didn't even bother to call them back.
