Things went excellent. I would definitely recommend them. They have Medeco locks, which are unpickable. They are the best locks going. I will use them again.

Ashland Lock is awesome. We have had great experiences with using them. Seth is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable about what needs to be replaced in your house as well as what is the best option for you. Seth came back to fix a lock which wasn't working and is extremely easy to deal with. They are also very accomodating to your schedule. I highly reccomend them and will definitely be using them again.

These guys were fantastic. The lock and knob on our two flat was broken the day before the blizzard of 2011. The company we have used in the past on Southport, came out, took a look said they would have to order parts as the door is an antique. The storm hit and they never returned our calls. Days went by, no response. So, I checked out Angieslist for a recommendation and chose Ashland Lock and Security. Called and talked to Joe...we were out of town and he took care of all of it for us. Keith came out, sized up the job and came back the same day and did the work and made sure our tenant got the new keys. All during below zero temps. I can't thank them enough and would recommend them wholeheartedly.

Everything went excellently. I have been using them for some time, and they always do amazing work. I couldn't be more satisfied with their services.

My husband & I bought a foreclosed property that closed on Friday, 4-30-10. We needed all the locks changed and operating with 1 master key. Mike took my call and scheduled Noel to come the next day. Both were friendly and professional. Noel got the job done quickly and efficiently. I was very impressed with the quality of work and reasonable rates, especially for a Saturday call.

Seth responded quickly to our call to fix a doorknob lock on our garage. The lock malfunctioned and we could not get into the garage. Seth was able to remove the old doorknob quickly and replace it with a new doorknob and configure it to be used with our existing key. The work was done quickly and efficiently. We would definitely use this company again.

Ashland Locks is a DREAM to work with. I called for the first time in a panic as a tenant had keys stolen and we needed fast service. The job had complications, but Ashland Locks made recommendations to make the building stronger and safer. My previous company had never recommended a "chart' of the key system so the next time keys are stolen, the process will be much simpler. Not only did they solve problems for me immediately, they made smart suggestions to make my life easier in the future. Having their credit application online made it super easy to set up an account. With multiple rental properties, they are a dream to work with.

Did not use this company they wanted to charge me a $135.00 service fee for being 4 miles away. For me to drive to there location takes me only 15 minutes I wasn't about to pay for that.

As they have been in the past -- they were punctual, professional, friendly and courteous.

They answered the phone the first time I called which doesn't happen with most companies. Dave was upfront about all the pricing ( the other company I called refused to break down labor costs). He was proffesional and nice. The actual worker, Seth was very prompt, competant and friendly. I think if I had shopped around I could have found a better price. Service call was $85.00, 10 minutes labor $35.00.

I recently had a wrought iron fence put in the front of my house. The foreman of the fence crew said he will place all locks and move the deadbolt for no extra charges. That seemed like a good deal at the time.... I just happened to come home early on the day they were placing the doorknobs/locks and I walked in while he was using a chisel to remove the deadbolt and doing nothing but destroying the deadbolt. The doorknobs that he had installed were from Leowe's and very cheaply made. I told the fence foreman to stop breaking my existing locks and to remove the cheap doorknobs as well. I then phoned Ashland Lock on Wednesday for the above service. I was fortunate they were able to send someone (Noel) out the next day with the lock I requested. Noel came out to my house on that Thursday and promptly completed all tasks until he asked me for all keys in order to rekey the new double cylinder lock. I did not have the 1st floor key. Noel asked me if I had ever used Ashland Lock before (I wasn't sure). He then called the store and found out that I had used them before. I didn't realize it but I had all locks rekeyed when I first moved in many years ago and (fortunately for me) Ashland did the work and still had the records! Noel was able to fabricate a new 1st floor key and rekey the lock to all keys. If they didn't have my records they would have had to come back out when I had that 1st floor key another trip charge). Instead the only extra charge was for fabrication of the 1st floor key. Ashland Lock may seem expensive to some people (trip charges) but they do have your back once you're a customer! I highly recommend Ashland Lock co if you want the job done right the first time.

My experience with Ashland Lock was excellent from start to finish. They were initially very helpful on the phone when I first called explaining what I was looking for and sent someone out quickly. Shaun was our locksmith and he was terrific. We were just about to move into a walk-up unit and were concerned about security. Shaun walked through the entire house with me looking at every entry point and offered solutions/insight. Shaun's suggestions were a great middle ground of what was necessary and reasonable (he definitely did not try to upsell me unecessarily - he was very honest and realistic about what we needed). Shaun had to special order the deadbolts and he got them in as quickly as possible. He rushed and worked around our movers to replace the deadbolts so we would have them the first day in our new place. The entire process was very efficient and easy, and I am completely satisfied with the quality of the service and work product provided. It was a pleasure working with Shaun - he took the time to explain things to me and was very understanding about my security concerns.

Seth was punctual, professional and friendly and I highly recommend the service. As an example of the level of service, our back door has sagged over years, making the locks difficult to use. I hadn't asked him to fix it, but Seth took the extra step of filing down the plate to make the lock operate properly.

I set up the appointment in advance. The locksmith was punctual and professional. Smooth transaction. I recommend these guys.

They came out same day to repair our deadbolt, and were done in 30 minutes. It was an excellent job - they also had originally re-keyed our doors. To be honest, they are the best shop we have found on Angie's list, and we've had mixed results elsewhere. I would recommend them to anyone!

Ashland quoted me $100 more than the other locksmith I contacted. I got the impression that the upcharge from Ashland was because of the estimator's perception of my neighborhood. My conversation with them went like this: Ashland Lock and Security Services first asked me, "Where do you live?" and I told them my street (a well known street). Then, they asked, "North or South"? I live in a good neighborhood on the North Side with many expensive single family homes, but I don't own one of those. I live in a rental. I'm happy to pay a fair price for work, but I felt that Ashland was trying to gouge me based on my neighborhood. I went with another company for the deadbolt.

We hire the Asland Lock to look into our front-gate problem. Following their recommendation we bought new electric strike set from Asland Lock. We have problem with the brand new electric strike that Asland Lock & Security installed after 5 months. When we talked to the installation guy, they have indicated the warranty is for 6 months. Unfortunately, we can't find our receipt to prove. Even though we still have the original quote from Asland Lock. When we called they said they only provided 3 months warranty. They are not very helpful on the call. If we need them to come look at the problem, we have to pay another $85 for service call.

We just bought a house and needed the locks changed. When I called to make an appointment, he asked me various questions about the type of locks that we needed changed and also the type of key that we had previously used on the locks. He gave me estimates on the phone for the trip charge, cost per lock, etc, which I appreciated. He arrived on time and began work right away. He was very courteous, efficient, and professional. I would recommend him again.

Serviceman arrived promptly at scheduled appointment time. He was able to demsonstrate that two of the locks did not need repair but simply needed silicone spray. He took apart the third lock, cleaned it, sprayed it with silicone spray and put it back together.

Easy to schedule and pleasant on the phone. They even helped me figure out on the phone that the lock on my french doors wasn't broken, it just needed to be locked by lifting the handle correctly. The locksmith arrived at the scheduled time, did all requested work quickly and cleaned everything up when done. All in all, a very positive experience.

I think that their price is a little bit higher than it needs to be, however I think that they do a very good job with the work. I have been pleased with their service.

Noel from Ashland was great. He showed up on time (a little early, in fact), worked quickly, explained everything clearly, and did a solid job. There is a fee to arrive, but the cost of the work itself was modest. Generally, I had a very good experience with Ashland Lock.

The service was excellent. Mike was very nice and professional and did a really good job. All in all I would use them again, although it was pretty expensive.

This price was much too high and I believe it's a ripoff.
