Two cleaners came (on time) and did a good job cleaning, especially in the kitchen, although they missed addressing a couple of top items on our printed to-do list, such as wiping the baseboards. I certainly would use this service again, though I would bold-face our top items next time.

We have two cats and I'd had surgery, so the place really needed a thorough cleaning. They did a great job.

They arrived on time and did a nice a job. They also worked with me to reschedule to a day earlier with little notice.

I got and Angie's List Great Deal coupon ($60 for 4 hours of housecleaning). When I called to set up my appointment, they weren't able to help me right away, so I got some other immediate help, and scheduled a time with American Maids a few weeks later. They were able to give me a quote based on the square footage, # of BR and # of Baths. I decided to pay for an additional 2 hours of service because the house was due for a really thorough cleaning. (BTW, it's very nice that I can pay them by credit card instead of leaving cash.) I wasn't home for the appointment and arranged to leave a key. The team did a really nice job! Everything looked great without the harsh chemical smell. They left a detailed checklist of the services they completed. My only complaint is that only 3 days after, our toilet bowls started to get grey steaks from the rim down to the waterline. Maybe the all natural cleaning products aren't strong enough? I thought I would like to use them again and found good detailed information on the website (kudos!) about setting up regular visits. I will report back later to let you know how that goes!

Although I liked the scheduler or owner who set up the service time with me and the women who performed the services were nice, there were language barrier issues. The cleaners worked very fast but also missed spots and did not do as thorough a job as I do when I clean my home. To me, the idea of hiring cleaning assistance (or any contractor) is to let those who specialize in certain services handle what they do best. It is disappointing when specialists underperform you and, as a result, I am likely to simply clean myself rather than contract out this work again to this provider. Some of the smaller missed details included removing build up on stovetop grill trays with appropriate products rather than washing with soap and water and replacing unclean; removing floor scuff marks rather than performing a once over with water (and possibly a solvent); spending time on the floors in all rooms to clean and notice such marks rather than a quick wash at the end to get out the door; more thoroughly sweeping along base boards in the kitchen under the cabinets; using appropriate tools to remove any build up around sink and faucet edges and toilet porcelain edges; dusting furniture edges and corners more thoroughly; dusting or inquiring about ceiling fixtures, particularly fan blades; opening closet doors to sweep/vaccuum any dust and complete washing the floor that extends under these doors. Despite these details, the overall space was clean and satisfactory. The work simply did not meet expectations for the level and amount of service offered.

I requested a deep cleaning. I don't feel I got that. I requested the cabinets be cleaned inside and out- this did not happen They did a great job cleaning the ceiling fans and light fixtures. Also the oven. The fridge cleaning was a bust. It was really unorganized after it was cleaned. I alsp expected the freezer to be cleaned- perhaps it is just not included. Either way it was a dissappointment. I feel that the they were rushing the job. Wehn they finally did the basement- which is a main living area in our house- they did no dusting- I am not sure they did anything down there except maybe the bathroom. Not a great experience. I am looking for a service on a weekly basis- on to to the next try............

I found American Maids on Angie's list and was impressed by the good reviews. When I called, the woman on the phone went over a long checklist about our place and what services we wanted. I told her that we wanted our place thoroughly cleaned from top to bottom because it was on the market. She called it a "deep cleaning" (my receipt says the same). She asked if we wanted the oven cleaned, I said yes. She asked if I wanted the inside of the refrigerator cleaned and I wasn't sure at the time because I thought I might be doing that prior to their visit. She told me that a deep cleaning for a place the size of mine could take 4-6 hours and I said I was fine with that. I also told her that, after the initial deep-clean, I was looking for someone to come on a regular basis for standard cleaning. Two women showed up early, which was great, and were ready to get to work. I gave them a quick tour and a short list of instructions. I wanted to make sure the floors got thoroughly scrubbed, the baseboards washed, and dirt cleaned off of doors and other places where it collects, but I also figured that they had the checklist that had been taken over the phone. I work at home and was quite busy so I let them do their thing while I worked in my office. It did seem like they finished cleaning the downstairs rather quickly but I figured that a) our place was already pretty clean because we'd just had a showing and b) they're professionals and probably much more efficient than I am. They came upstairs and worked on the kitchen for a short while, then came to clean my office. I used that opportunity to make myself some lunch and quickly take a peek at their work. I wasn't sure if they were totally done in the kitchen but I have to admit I wasn't super impressed. I looked at the oven and it hadn't been touched. Then I remembered I was supposed to tell them if I needed the fridge interior cleaned, per my phone conversation with the woman who took my order. I told the one woman "I was supposed to let you know if I needed the inside of the fridge cleaned, and I don't, but I do need the oven cleaned." Blank stare. She said they never told her the oven needed cleaning. I said that, yes, that had definitely been on the list when I called. After a minute or so, the other woman said she could do it. A short while later they told me they were all done and handed me the receipt to sign. This was after just under three hours. I didn't want to be the person who goes around inspecting everything before I dismiss them, but maybe I should have. Because after they left I looked in the bathroom and saw black dirty footprints on the tile floor–not my footprints, either. I opened the oven and it was cleaner than before but not sparkling. I had to scrap the glass window with a razor blade to remove the remaining caked on grime. They didn't even touch the broiler, which was still dusty and grimy. The kitchen floor had been mopped but still had some caked on bits of garbage that had been under the floor mats I moved before they started cleaning. A few things, like the top of the fridge, hadn't been dusted at all. The toilet still had mineral deposits I asked them to clean (and they said they could). All in all it looked *okay* but not like a deep cleaning by any stretch. And in case you're wondering, I am not a neat freak, far from it. To be fair, the woman on the phone told me that if I am unhappy with anything to call and they would come out and fix it. But honestly, I feel like they had it pretty easy because my house was already clean so they only needed to concentrate on getting a few things sparkling. I was fully prepared to pay for another few hours of work, so they could have taken their time to get the job right the first time. I'm not sure if I really want to deal with having them come out again to do another lackluster job. I can see missing one or two minor things, and I can understand that there might be a mix-up with the job order and "oven" didn't get checked, but the combination of the mix-up and several things being overlooked just left a bad taste in my mouth. Lastly, given the fact that I mentioned I wanted to schedule regularly cleaning after the deep clean, I would have thought someone might contact me to ask how the first cleaning went and schedule the subsequent appointments. I waited a few days and heard nothing. Then today I got a receipt via email. That was all. I guess they just don't want my continued business.

Everything was going well for a time, but they began charging me in advance for their services. I phoned them about this, and they claimed that it wasn't their business practice to charge in advance but they continued to do it. When I called back to cancel the services, I wasn't refunded the last charge.

Very good and would use them again.

They were very good and I found them on Angie's List. They did a very nice job; they got on their hands and knees and scrubbed the tiles. They came on time and they were very pleasant. I'm trying to make an arrangement with them but in the process I called another provider because my daughter is using them and she's had good experience with them. On regular basis they wouldn't be here that long and it's still twenty five percent more than what I spend on services in the last ten years. I'd like it if I could get it down but I feel I can work with them and get it down a little bit. What I like about them is that they seem to try and keep me with them and work it out. They were very thorough and they worked hard.

Have been using American Maids for over a year. The ladies are very efficient, thorough, and consistent. They arrive on time and get to work immediately. When I have had requests, they have always been met. My place is always very clean when they are done. They do an excellent job every time.

At the start of our contract, there was a miscommunication between our management company and American Maids, resulting in the basement not being cleaned at the first visit. American Maids sent a team of 4 people out at 6:00 at night to finish the job to our satisfaction. I would have been pleased if they had come out the following day to finish; so I was very impressed that they took care of it that same evening. Their service has been exceptional. The team who cleans our place is professional, punctual, realiable and thorough. It always smells clean when you walk in the building on the afternoon they've been here. We will continue to use their services in the future.

It was fine. I had purchased a Big Deal through Angie’s List. I would’ve rather had one person for four hours vs. two people for two hours, but the overall experience was good. They arrived on time and they kept busy; they didn’t waste any of my time. The cleaners knew exactly what to do and were very professional and impressive. I’m happy with their services.

Purchased the Angie's List Big Deal. At the time of scheduling, we reviewed the terms of the offer and discussed what could reasonably be accomplished in the given amount of time. On the day of the service, I was given a courtesy call to let me know that the crew was on their way but would be just a few minutes late. And they were only off by a few minutes, so not a problem at all. When they arrived, we reviewed my priority list for the cleaning. The team got to work right away and were very efficient. They did a very nice job, and were very polite and courteous. They made it through my list and got to a few other areas in the house as well, so that was a bonus. I felt that both the office and the service crew were easy to work with. Overall I had a very good experience and would definitely use them again in the future.

I thought they did a good job. They were prompt, courteous, they worked hard and they didn't waste any time. Overall it was an excellent experience and I would recommend them. Their price was good for me.

This was an Angie's List Big Deal. I waited a few weeks after the promotion before I called and was able to get an appointment about a week later. I received a voice message the day before reminding me of my appointment. The ladies arrived at the specified time and after I showed them through the house they began diligently working. They brought along all their supplies; however, I asked them to use a product I supplied on the wood floors. I stayed out of their way so that they could do their work. When they were about finished, they asked me to check and see if I was satisfied. I was very happy with all that they had done.

The cleaners moved many items in our apartment, made beds (with dirty sheets), and hung up dirty dry cleaning, none of which we asked to do. As a result, they moved my oldest son's beloved stuffed bear that he has had since the day he was born. We can't find it after numerous top to bottom checks in our apartment and the cleaners came over to look and confirmed it can't be found. To me, the most important part of this type of service is the trust of people to be in your home. However, when they move an item and it can't be found and they are the only ones who could have misplaced it, the trust is lost. Further, they would not accept the blame for losing the item. They kept trying to push the blame back on my family (only my bedridden wife was home; my children and I were at school and work respectively and only discovered the bear missing when we came home that evening). To try to push the blame back on us was the last straw and why I canceled the service. Again, a customer loses trust when you have strangers in your home to perform services and they lose an important item and will not accept blame for it. This is inexcusable and unprofessional and I would caution anyone else considering using their service. Some other minor issues: they were late both times for the two services I had them perform; neither of the cleaning people could speak English very well, which is obviously a problem given the above explanation of the lost item; they put items away in a closet, yet didn't even clean the area where they put the items and I found a large dust and hair ball next to the items they stored (which were dog toys they put in the master bedroom closet).

Was very professional over the phone. She called me back when she said she would, and the girls showed up when they were supposed to. They started to work immediately and finished in about 1:45. They did a great job, and did not want to leave with out at least vacuuming my office. (I was at home working). I was happy with the service and would use again.

They were just very thorough with their job. They did a good job. I would use their service in the future too.

Very friendly and easy to work with. Bring all their own supplies. I had them use my floor cleaner just because of personal preference. The house was so clean every surface vacuumed and cleaned. I got the hourly rate since it was the first time and I will only be using the service once a month. If you use more frequently they have better rates. Ilona was very easy to work with and friendly on the phone and her team was punctual and hard working the entire time.

I called and made the appointment over the phone, I was hoping for a Late Friday or Saturday cleaning but I called the week of and they were already booked solid. I was able to get a 10am Thursday appointment which was my 3rd choice. I'm not sure if this would normally be the case but they did just offer a great coupon so... The two women arrived promptly, within 1 minute of the proposed window of time. They were very nice, removed their shoes outside and put on booties to clean in which I really liked. They seemed to speak enough English to understand what I was requesting and any special requests I made--which is nice and RARE for anyone who has used other companies. Again, I can't speak for every employee they have, but the girls I had were super nice. I stayed throughout the cleaning because I usually do for the first few times. I was working so I just closed the door to my bedroom and moved for them when it was time for them to clean in there. I made a request online to have my fridge wiped down inside, which apparantly didn't make it to the actual cleaning crew so I had to reiterate when they arrived. Several minutes later, when I was in my room and they had begun cleaning I got a call from the main office confirming the additional work and letting me know it may put them 15 mins or so over their alloted 2 hours. I agreed to any extra time. The two of them worked quickly (they ended at exactly 1 minute over the two hours) and did a great job on most of the house. I tend to have a few things that are pet peeves when someone cleans my house, specifically wiping down the tops of picture frames and wiping down doors and ledges. I would rate them higher than most other companies I've had, but I still had a large framed piece of art in my bedroom that was never touched. Same with just wiping down doors. Positively, they were better than any of the other services I've used that were WAY more costly. I would say they cleaned my bathrooms better than even I do myself and I'm pretty uptight about it. I like that they used "green" cleaners, which to me just means there was no stanky ammonia smell which I can't stand (and shouldn't be used if you have cats...they think its urine and can spray or pee). I recommended them to a friend who was very pleased except that they somehow clogged her pilot light on her stove and she has to have someone come fix it.

They really did a great job! They were on-time and very professional. The kitchen and bathroom looked super clean afterwards and my landlord was pretty happy about it.

I'm very happy with the results. The housecleaners cleaned our 2-bedroom condo speedily and efficiently. One slight communication glitch with the office: When I made the appointment, I'd asked if they could use a ladder to clean the kitchen ceiling. The person in the office said she'd get back to me about how much extra they'd charge, but she never got back to me and so I decided to clean the ceiling myself. Overall, the two women who cleaned our apartment did great work.
