Description of Work: My dishwasher wasn't draining and was leaking everywhere. I called on Thursday afternoon and scheduled an appointment for Monday morning. The receptionist told us about the $69 service fee so I knew what to expect. I was told Ivan would be out sometime between 9 and 11, he arrived at 9:15am. He was very thorough and professional. He cleaned the dishwasher first and then started his diagnostic work. The pump was broken, he told me how much it would cost in comparison with a new dishwasher and how long he thought the dishwasher would last with the new part. We went ahead and replaced the pump and he replaced the seal along the door and re-aligned the door for us so it wouldn't leak. He also told me how much soap to put in and how to keep it clean....like throw in a cup of vinegar every three months instead of paying for the expensive stuff they try to sell you at the hardware stores. Ivan was a very nice man and a pleasure to work with. I would definitely use this company again if needed and highly recommend them. Thanks Ivan!

+ -1 moreAs always, I have nothing but wonderful things to say about AA Best Appliance Service and their courteous, friendly staff. This is the third time I have used their services, and I will always call them whenever I have an appliance problem. My dryer would not start on Monday, September 5th (Labor Day!), so I left a message for AA Best Appliance Service, knowing full well that no one would be there to take my call. However, the office returned my call first thing Tuesday morning, September 6th. They could have scheduled service as early as Wednesday, September 7th, but September 8th worked better for my schedule. As usual, I was told all of the costs at the time of scheduling: it would be $89 for the service call ($69 for one appliance and $20 for every additional appliance, and they only accept cash or a check). My appointment time was between 9am and 11am, and Ivan arrived right at 11. He worked for about 30 minutes inspecting the washing machine and diagnosing the problems with the dryer. Ivan explained the additional costs to me and then left to pick up the parts necessary for the dryer. He was back in less than 30 minutes. And voila! Problem solved!
Description of Work: Ivan repaired our dryer, which would not start, but it was also not drying clothes well when it was working. He replaced the gas valve coils and the duct, and repaired the timer knob. Ivan also examined our washing machine, and although it makes some funny noises, it did not require any repairs (it's just a cheap model that we are living with until it dies).

My appointment was scheduled promptly and the company's policies were clearly explained on the phone during the scheduling appointment. Ivan arrived during the time window that was provided during my scheduling call and was professional and courteous. As far as the specific issue, we had two nonfunctional burners on our stove. Another contractor had indicated that the entire cooktop would need to be pulled off the countertop in order to properly diagnose the problem at a cost of $250-300. Ivan quickly identified the problem and successfully repaired it without removing the cooktop at a total cost of $109. The work was done quickly and the steps taken were clearly explained to me.

Description of Work: Fridge and freezer stopped working due to drain tube being clogged in back. Abt appliance repair service (who we had used in past) came 3 weeks prior when fridge/freezer stopped working and defrosted drain tube and said that was whole problem. Exact same problem occurred 3 weeks later, Abt couldn't come for 2 days so called AA repair instead. They came that afternoon and found that drain tube freezing over (again) was only tip of problem and that entire tube was clogged/blocked and needed to be flushed. They did this and total cost still less than what Abt charged. After they left we discovered the fridge light wouldn't shut off due to something being shifted when they moved the fridge to work on it and they promptly returned and fixed it without charge.

+ 1 moreI have used AA Best on several occasions; washer/dryer, freezer and now the dishwasher repair. My appliances are getting older and they always provide suggestions on whether it would be wise to repair or buy new. They are always professional and timely. It was a simple fix so the cost was minimal. I will continue to use them for all my appliance repairs. The only downside is that they only take checks/cash so do not plan on using a debit/credit card.
Description of Work: Dishwasher repair. A very simple fix ( a switch!). Minimal cost.

The repairman arrived on the early side of the time range they gave me and fixed my washer quickly with no other parts needed. He also took the time to tell me some things about caring for my machine so that it wouldn't happen again. Overall this couldn't have been easier.

+ -1 moreMy dishwasher was leaking water when it was turned on and I could not find the source of the problem. I called AA Best and an appointment was set up on the spot. They requested information on the brand of the dishwasher and asked about the issues to have an idea of how the problem might be fixed. The repairmen arrived ontime and did a great job of troubleshooting the problem. It did not take them long to notice that the motor was not turning and that there was a problem with the unit's seal. They quickly fixed the problem and I have had no issues since. They provided great service at a great price. Thanks AA Best!

So right there they earned an A+ from me. But on top of a job quickly and well done, they were AWESOME. So engaging, warm, and super funny--I really could have chatted with them all day long. I would hire them again in a heartbeat. Now I'm off for some highly anticipated laundry....

+ -1 moreMy experience with them was very good. I had a dishwasher that was not working properly. They came out and spent an inordinate amount of time in cleaning it very meticulously. They explained to me while they were cleaning as to what I could do in the future if it clogged again and I could fix it. When I mentioned about using an expensive dishwasher cleaner, they suggested that I use vinegar instead that would cost a tenth of the amount but would work as well. They were punctual and very informative. They wanted to educate me as far as what was happening. Overall, they were excellent. Their price was excellent. They cleaned everything and did it beautifully. I would definitely use them again in the future.

He was able to clean out all the ice build up behind the freezer panel and came back the same day with a replacement fan. He also repaired the ice maker. The work was done professionally and Ivan was courteous and friendly. I can recommend this company to do good work.

+ -1 moreI called to schedule service of a refrigerator. The individual answering the phone confirmed she worked for the Appliance Co and not an answering service. When asked whether the refrigerator was a side by side or top bottom, I responded I was unsure as the refrigerator is located in a tenant-occupied apartment. I then asked her if a problem would be caused by not knowing the exact configuration of the doors of the refrigerator (as parts may be different for one type of configuration or the other). She then answered that the company did not service all areas of the city. I asked her to please answer my original question about door-configuration of the refrigerator. And she said, "Maybe you want to call someone else," and then hung up. Clearly, this company is not in the business of providing the best service when the person answering the phone can't do a proper job of conveying and collecting information.

+ -1 moreThe story is as I explained in the previous panel. I remain totally amazed how people in the service industry feel justified in yelling at a customer who has a legitimate concern regarding a bill after paying $250.
Description of Work: The service call was $69 as agreed. The written quote was $169.00 A few days went by and the service call to finish the job was placed. The service call to finish the job was completed. I was allowed to use the 10% Angies LIst discount coupon. At the end of the service call I was billed an additional $30 for a part that wasn't included in the original quote. The next day I brought this discrepancy to Jane's attention who, for all intents and purposes, told me that's the way it goes. The quote was within $20 to $30 of the actual bill and that should be good enough. Jane went into a verbal attack mode. I tried to get a word in because Jane did not have all the facts and I was unsuccessful in getting Jane to slow down. In the mean time during our conversation Ivan the repairman was listening to the call and chimed in with such an aggressive manner I hung up. Ivan did a good job fixing the dryer, but I had a hard time digesting the additional $30. And screaming at me over the telephone is not the kind of repairman I would seek out. $30 is not the end of the world, but I assumed a written quote was an agreement. I don't think anyone likes to hear, "Oh, by the way, I had to add on the cost of a part to my quote", after the repair is finished and I've got my check book in my hand. Buyer beware. While Ivan was there I inquired about a disposal problem. With out looking at the disposal Ivan quoted $40. I had my hand in the disposal and said the blades were turning. He replied with something to the effect that most of the problem had been solved. While wrapping up his tools upon finishing the dryer repair he peeked into the disposal, literally for 3 seconds, and told me there was a piece of a can stuck in there. I still did not opt for the $40 repair quote. What I ultimately found most distasteful was being screamed at by the folks I just paid $250 to. That is not the way to treat a customer.

Jane returned my call in less than 10 minutes and booked and appointment for me this morning 5/3, between 8-10 a.m. She said there would be a $69 service fee, minus the 10% Angie's list coupon I printed online. Ivan arrived a little after 9:00 to check out my dishwasher. He found the problem in just a couple of minutes and fixed it quickly. I was happy with the quality of service again and pleasantly surprised at the cost of the repair. Ivan is punctual, professional and courteous and I will continue to give him my business in the future. I am a return customer because I called them for service in the fall, 11/2/10, also for my dishwasher, which was working intermittently. Ivan performed the service that day, along with a technician named Chris. They had to replace the computer, which has worked fine since then. Also Ivan repaired the clock timer on my oven, which had a couple of broken screws that needed to be replaced, at no extra charge. I highly recommend Ivan because he is honest, dependable and affordable.
Description of Work: My dishwasher was leaking. Ivan examined it and discovered the heating element had come loose on one side, allowing hot water to drip down through the bottom. He tightened a piece on it. The repair took less than an hour.

+ -1 moreIt was wonderful. They came when they said they would, were very friendly and sociable and handled the problem very professionally. They told me the problem and showed me the parts that needed replacement or repair. In this case the belt that turns the drum and a roller . They explained everything very well. They finished in a very timely fashion. When finished , Ivan, told me that the dryer had not been leveled properly and that was probably the cause for the belt to be worn and come of the dryer,s drum. When handed the bill I was surprised tnat the cost was so inexpensive. Without a doubt I would use AA BEST and I would definitely recommend them!!
Description of Work: Dryer was not tumbling. They came in, looked at the dryer and fixed the problem.

+ -1 moreI called them Monday morning and Jane answered the phone. She was very polite, responsive and attentive. She wrote down my information and asked what my problem was. I said it was our fridge that was no longer cooling on either side. She stated she could possibly have someone there that same day but would need to call me back. She called me back within five minutes and said Ivan, one of their techs, could be out there that afternoon. Which worked out great for our need and schedule. Ivan arrived on time and even called fifteen minutes before arriving. He was very polite, clear and explained everything to us. Very shortly after he found the problem with the fridge and replaced the part. The fridge worked! He cleaned up and even explained other things about the fridge to us that we had always wondered about. I cannot overly emphasize how pleasant and amazing their service was from start to finish! To think I had called Sears Home Repair the day before and they told me they could send someone out to me in seven days. Never again. If you're having any doubts with going with this company - DO NOT. They are amazing. Thank you Ivan and A A Best Appliance Service
