A-1PAM did a fantastic job on all projects. Tom, the project manager, was very attentive and quick to respond to any questions or issues that came up. He provided a detailed itemized proposal by room which made it much easier to comprehend the work being done. All the workers were very professional, hard working and polite. All projects were completed on time. I would definitely recommend A-1PAM.

I can't say enough good things about Greg and his team. I recently purchased a condo in Old Town that had a somewhat dated bathroom. We contacted a few contractors for the remodel, but none were nearly as responsive and detail-oriented as Greg. To make matters more complicated, the condo is not my primary residence, so most of our correspondence was via phone/text/email since I live out of town. Despite the distance, Greg always kept me in the loop and would respond to my messages usually within a few minutes. This kind of attention to detail is invaluable and so rare, it was reassuring to know that my bathroom was in the best hands possible. As far as the actual work, it could not have turned out any better. Greg met every deadline he set, and the fit and finish is outstanding. The tile work in the shower is exactly how I imagined it would be-- Greg knew exactly what I wanted from the beginning, and he delivered. Even when I was unsure about how the shower niche would turn out, Greg took the time to discuss it with me and sent some photos of a past project he'd done. He told me ultimately it's my bathroom, and they would do whatever I wanted. But the past work spoke for itself, and my niche turned out just as good. I would definitely recommend A-1 PAM to anyone in the Chicago area looking to remodel a bathroom or tackle any project. I will hire them again for my next project.

Overall, these guys were about as good as you could ever hope for in a contractor. We interviewed over eight companies/individuals for the job, and Greg and his team stood out from the initial consultation. Two people, Greg & Tom, came to the consultation and they were professional and very thorough. They asked good questions, didn't seem hurried, took notes, gave us straightforward feedback, and really seemed like they were trying to learn what we wanted and how to help. We promptly received a competitive quote, and even after we agreed to move forward with A1, they kept up with prompt communications and updates. They also gave us a realistic schedule which they ended up meeting pretty much exactly (which I've never experienced with a contractor before). During the job, Greg's team was respectful of our space and requests. When we encountered some unexpected issues during the course of construction, and Greg or Tom was always close at hand by phone or email to resolve these issues. Several of these issues involved extra work for Greg's team that he did not charge extra for! Greg even called me on vacation on one day to figure out how to deal with some fit issues with our cabinets once they arrived (we did not order our cabinets through Greg's references so they were installing others that we ordered). After the work was done, Greg made sure we were happy with the job and even asked us to spend a week or so with our new kitchen to make sure any issues were identified. We had a few minor issues that his team needed to return for, which they promptly did. I can't say enough about their constant communication during the process. We had requests like, "please let us know when the floors will be sanded and stained so we can plan to be out of the house" that Tom complied with without further reminders. It was really comforting to have someone at hand to answer any questions as they arose. For those seeking a contractor, these guys won't let you down and they'll do everything they can to ensure your satisfaction. I can't recommend them enough, and we will definitely be calling them for future work.

After our initial meeting with Greg, the workers started the project on the appointed day and ended on the date promised. Every part of the work was done professionally with careful attention to the details in the contract. They were punctual, courteous and conscientious and gave me the powder room that I had dreamed of! I highly recommend this company; they are not only economical but also do a quality job.

After meeting with other contractors, there was no comparison. Greg responded promptly to my initial request for a quote and he maintained that level of responsiveness throughout the project. He provided me with the most detailed proposal of anyone and a clear idea of what to expect. Working with A-1 PAM really took a lot of the stress out of my kitchen remodel, because it was like having a a guide to walk me through it. Greg was super organized, professional and easy to work with, and the guys who worked on the kitchen were fantastic as well - great work, no huge messes and they cleaned up beautifully. I couldn't be happier with the results and would definitely hire them again.

These guys are fantastic to work with. We just did a bathroom project with them and are now scheduled to do a 2nd remodel project on a bedroom. Two things that set these guys apart -- 1) Greg is very responsive and detailed; it was a breath of fresh air to have such quick back and forth compared to other contractors I've dealt with. 2) The two guys that did the work were meticulous with a great eye for detail. Overall, great work product and a pleasure to have in our home.

The owner, Greg was prompt in coming out to our house to look at the work we needed and give us an estimate. He took measurements of everything and provided us with a detailed estimate of the work. He was honest about how soon they would be able to start too. The men who came out to do the work were meticulous, knowledgable, polite, and very hard workers. They did not work any half days and did not take days off during the week. They worked straight through until the project was finished. The results are beautiful! The work was finished early and on budget. We will absolutely use A-1 Pam in the future.

This is our second project with A1-PAM. We selected them last summer for a kitchen redo, which they completed with excellent results. (You can find our review of the kitchen work A1-PAM did here on Angie's List.) Since our first project with them came out stellar, we elected to go with them again for some work on our bedroom. Like our last project, all went according to plan. A1-PAM again exceeded our expectations with the work that was done. Greg kept us constantly informed on the progress and process and how it all would progress. The thing about A1-PAM that I think is really something to call out is the quality of the work. The attention to detail by the exceptional crew is outstanding. They keep an eye on not just the big things, but all of the small things, caulking, patching, painting, repainting until it looks perfect. We will probably want to have them work on our basement when we look to redo that as well. Am I being a fanboy? Probably. But when you've had prior, sloppy work done on your home and the stairwell ceiling (for example) wasn't done right, and the A1-PAM guys come in and make it look perfect, you kind of have to be impressed with the quality of the work they do. It's possible you could find someone a little cheaper to do the work. But if you really want something done in the end that will look perfect, you definitely want to go with A1-PAM.

Without a doubt, this is the remodeling team you want to hire for your project! My renovation situation was rather challenging, as I live in LA year-round but rent the Chicago condo I had previously lived in. Unfortunately, I had some water damage from the unit above me, and as a result, decided to do a major gut rehab on my unit that included new hardwood floors throughout the unit, and completely gutting my kitchen, which included tearing down a galley kitchen wall to open up the space and allow for a breakfast bar. I met with 6 different contractors, and Greg with A-1 Pam was by far the most knowledgeable, straightforward, and honest of the bunch. During his initial quote, he informed me of the potential challenges that might come up due to the fact that it's an older building with lots of structural and electrical quirks, and he even talked to my building engineer prior to the quote to make sure my renovation plans could be met. The other renovation "experts" sent over design consultants without construction knowledge who tried to make it seem like this was a quick and easy job, but I knew better and Greg's thorough approach and fair pricing convinced me his team would do the job right. Since I live 3,000 miles away, communication was key to this project, and Greg did not disappoint. We were in constant communication via phone, text, and email, and Greg even made himself available during off hours to accommodate my schedule. He made some great suggestions as far as layout and finishes, and was able to navigate the somewhat difficult and intrusive building engineer of 40+ years (sorry!) to finish the job on time and on budget. I can't say he did it to expectation, because he went ABOVE AND BEYOND what my expectations were for the project, including some last-minute renovations to my bathrooms that weren't even part of the initial job. The place looks incredible - I've received so many compliments on it, I'm a little jealous that I'll be renting the place instead of living in it! In short, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Greg and A-1 Pam... Don't waste your time bringing in multiple contractors for quotes - bring in Greg first and he'll set the bar too high for any other contractor to meet. Greg and his entire team are knowledgeable, honest, thorough, and professional, and if I ever have a need for a renovation project in the future, he will get my business again.

Greg was very responsive, and provided good suggestions for the design. They were prompt, very neat and professional. We love the results.

We looked at several providers before selecting A-1. We selected them not necessarily because they were the cheapest, but because their proposal was the most complete and gave us a good sense of what was going to happen. The pricing was very fair, though, and Greg from A1 gave us confidence that this he understood what needed to be done, and that it was going to go well. And it did go really well. Throughout any project of this size, there are going to be twists and turns. Greg and his diligent team rolled with every change, and came with a positive attitude. I've worked with many construction firms who nickel and dime or try and convince you to do something the cheap way because it was easy on them. Greg and he team kept an eye and guided us throughout the project. He was incredibly responsive. I would often send emails of things I was thinking about/concerned about/wanted done. Greg was right on them, often responding within minutes, even when it was late into the night. The asbestos removal guy we hired outside to get things started didn't remove all layers of the floor. Greg and his team solved that. Our toilet leaked and damaged one of the cabinets. Greg took responsibility (even though I did not think it was their fault) and replace the cabinet. We picked a hard to find countertop and Greg sourced it and moved around schedules to get it installed in time for our house guests. There were small things, too. Every other day I would come in and say, "hmmm...we never talked about this, but now that I see it, can we change something around?" Greg and his team were on the ball, always ready to adapt. My point on all of this is that when you do a project like this, you have to understand that there are going to be surprises. And the provider you choose will either make a big deal and create a lot of drama and change orders on you, or, handle it like a professional, collaborate with you, and work to keep things in line, on your budget and on time. A-1 PAM is the latter. If you're looking for a provider who will be with you every step of the way, and get things done in a high quality manner, then you shouldn't hesitate to choose A-1 PAM.

A-1 PAM was recommended to us by friends. They covered and masked floor, walls and furniture during the process. Scraped off peeling paint and or loosened finish coat of plaster. Added reinforcement screws to the ceiling where needed. Applied fiber-glass mesh/tape over the ceiling and cracked wall areas. Applied 3 skim-coats, sanded and primed. Cleaned up at the end of the project. The entire project with a 2 man crew of Andy and Matt took 7 days. The family room used to be a bedroom and enclosed porch. The patching/ plaster work done on the ceiling and side wall when the common wall was taken down 26+ years ago was really sloppy. Now the ceiling and wall are one continuous smooth service. Plaster sanding is a dusty job, there is no away around it but the men were very good about keeping it contained by closing doors and sealing up closets. The finished work is amazing and I got exactly the look I was expecting. My wife and I are considering having the other walls done when our funds permit.

Greg reviewed and quoted the job promptly and with a fair price, as we had received 2 other quotes as well. The repair required a complete plaster repair on a living room ceiling that had water damage and previous repair work done. Walls were also refinished in the living room and hall going upstairs as the house is around 94 years old and needed a sprucing up. Everything looks brand new and we were able to paint the walls rather than cover up with wallpaper. The crew showed up on time and cleaned up every day. Greg answered any questions we had and explained what work would be done and gave us a time frame. Everything went as planned and we will consider them for some other repairs needed on the second floor. Very professional and glad to have worked with them.

Greg was wonderful from start to finish. He submitted beautiful plans, and worked well with me to trim the budget where we could. The workers showed up on time every day. I gave them my keys, and they came and went on their own. My whole kitchen was completed in just five days. They worked all day every day. I was very impressed with their work ethic. They forgot to get rid of my refrigerator, and came back the next week to remove it after I called. I really appreciated their commitment to high-quality service.

We are very happy with the work. Greg and his crew were always punctual and polite. They made great progress each day and paid careful attention to detail. They were careful to match our existing trim and make it look like our walls were seamless. They carefully protected our furniture from dust and cleaned up thoroughly after. All in all, a painless experience. We will use this company again!

From the day they began work, there was a crew at my house full time Monday through Friday, and half days on Saturdays. There work ethic is excellent. The quality of the work was outstanding. They started the job when they said they would, and completed it on time, which was approximately one month. I gave Greg, the project manager, permission to use his judgment and pick out some accent tiles for the bathrooms, and his choices were excellent. He gave me suggestions on the tile layout, and the floors look so much better with his advice than I would have done on my own. The painters did a beautiful job, prepping and plastering as well as painting the walls. When all of their work was done, A-1Pam left my house clean and beautiful! Everyone who has seen their work has commented on both the beauty and quality of the work they did. I would highly recommend A-1Pam.

We couldn't be more impressed with the experience using A-1 PAM for our complete kitchen renovation. After working through estimates and designs with many contractors and companies we felt their proposed project was the most realistic and honest. The entire process exceeded our expectations, including the final product. Greg's estimate matched the final cost and was very fair. They completed the project in exactly the time predicted, which was a lot shorter than all other estimates we had received. Greg was incredibly responsive to all questions and communication during the renovation. His team was professional, efficient and sensitive to the impact their work had on the rest of our home and daily life. The few small glitches we experienced during the process (less than we expected given the age of our buildling) were managed with honesty and flexibility. Overall, A-1 PAM delivered an exceptional kitchen renovation in a very reasonable amount of time and for a very reasonable price. We would use them again for all projects - big or small.

We found A1-PAM Plastering & Remodeling, Inc. on Angie's list. It was our first use of the list since purchasing a condo in Chicago's Buena Park neighborhood. The owner was prompt for a scheduled meeting and estimate. He was very informative and really helped us with our vision for the room. He gave us tips for enhancing storage and making the room functional while fitting into the remainder of our home. Once this visit was complete a full scale drawing was sent via e-mail. This helped us really see how the room would look. He also made some relevant suggestions regarding tile, cabinets, etc. He was extremely helpful from the start. Once we agreed on a price and plan work began earlier than expected. The owner was actually here on the first day with his two employees that would be completing the remodel. Introductions were great prior to beinning and put us at ease prior to demo of the room. Throughout the remodel, which was completed two (2) days early, both remodelers worked deligently, paying close attention to the smallest detail. When they were unsure about even the smallest detail they looped us into the decision immediately. This was our first remodel on our new place and they made the whole experience pleasant and exciting. We are currently making plans to have this same team renovate both bathrooms sometime in the near future and can't wait to work with them again on another project.

They were the least expensive estimate (out of 3) that we received. They were extremely helpful, responsive and courteous throughout the job. Greg was always available by email or phone. They were always on time, except once when they called first to let us know why and by how long they would be delayed, and they gave us an accurate time schedule for the entire job. The work is outstanding - we have no complaints at all and will contact them when we need any other work done.

Greg Mazairka the owner is professional, fair and honest. He was most responsive, and returned calls promptly. Always on time. Work was well done. He met later to inspect and discuss the completed work to make sure it was satisfactory. I would recommend this company without reservations.

They are excellent and extremely accommodating. My mother was very ill at that time and since then has died but she wanted to see what the basemen looked like and the guy from A-1 Pam came and carried her in his arms down to the basement to see it and carried her back up and you can’t get many to do that. We think that the price was fine. We think that they gave a really good price and it was fair. We would use them again without a doubt; their work was excellent in fact we spoke to them today.

Based upon a recommendation from friends, we contacted Greg at A1-Pam right before Christmas. Greg showed up promptly for our appointment to go over the details and scope of our project, and provided us with a proposal the next day. We had decided to use Ikea cabinets and had some trouble self-designing the layout using Ikea's design software. Greg came over one night, walked through the kitchen again, and worked step-by-step with us on the design and cabinet sizes. Once we had the cabinets delivered, work began on time. We can't say enough about Greg and his crew, Petr and Andy in particular. They all were reliable, professional, polite, and very hardworking. They were also very amenable to any changes we made, and all additional work we asked of them. They completed our kitchen in approximately one week, finishing up on December 23rd, knowing we were leaving for the holidays. The kitchen is beautiful! We were so impressed by the service and the quality of their work that we again contacted Greg and A1-Pam last week. We have a two-flat, so we wanted to get the kitchen int he rental apartment remodeled as well. Same thing, Greg came over to review the details and scope of the project, helped with the design, gave us some options, and provided us with a proposal the next day. Greg sent Petr and Andy back to do the work on the second kitchen, and our experience with them was just as great as it was with the first kitchen. Both kitchens look amazing, and we couldn't be happier.

Overall the entire project was a completely positive experience. From the time of the first estimate, to the drawings of what he was recommending, it was smooth and professional start to finish. The owner, Gregg, listened to our ideas, and provided his own suggestions which in most cases were much more to our liking. He explained when they would start, which area of the house they would begin with, how they would protect our existing floors, appliances and carpets, etc. Great communication and quality workmanship made all the difference from some other contractors we've worked with in the past at a different home. The pricing was competitive, and worth every penny. The two areas were our kitchen and master bedroom, and both were substantial projects. They finished exactly on time, no extra (hidden) charges, and friendly and capable workers. The workers arrived on time each and every day, at the previously established time. All in all, a completely positive experience.
