Overall, aside from the showroom visit, everything else has been poor.
Description of Work: I don't take panning a company lightly unless it's earned, and this one is well-earned. Visited the showroom on Saturday June 25 and ordered new vertical blinds as well as requested 2 currently installed blinds to be quoted for repair (strings snapped). As promised, they measured on Monday 6/27. All good so far. While in-store, they promised an approximate delivery of 2 weeks after the measure. Then after 3 weeks we got a call saying that they hadn't ordered anything yet because the $50 repair portion of the job mysteriously kept the order from being processed. So after we got past that, we're now going on 5 more weeks, with no end in sight. The most frustrating part is that Eddie Z won't call us with any info on the reschedules or delivery dates. We have made all the phone calls and each week they have simply added another full week to the old delivery date. The service, in this day and age, is just inexcusable and embarrassing. I now have to go thru the challenge of canceling the order, which they are certain to fight with me on, and start the whole process over again elsewhere. Eddie Z in Chicago simply doesn't earn your business.

After 1 yr, Slats(they call them vanes) began falling off.After repeated calls to Eddie Z's, they sent out a repairman, who was sullen and rude. He stated there was nothing he could do. He reported back to office that it was my fault that I did not operate the blinds properly. He never saw me operate the blinds.They refused to help me.The blinds were defective, tiny tab that holds the slats was not able to support the slats.Of course I would not use EddieZ's again and called Budget Blinds for replacements. The salesman that came out repaired the blinds and they have been fine since. No charge.
Description of Work: Computer keeps on knocking out how much I spent, but it was $300.00+. Eddie Z's Installed and replaced vertical blinds on patio door slider.

I am very happy with them. He sent coupons few weeks ago. We got new windows installed. The quality was very good. The work was done very fast. They did a real good job. The sales girl gave a suggestion and was very helpful too. The installer got held up in his first job. He came within the regulated time, but was a little bit later.

Randy provided a quote for window treatment on two of our windows, one that is limited in scope by an arch. The quote was a little higher than a competitior. I also asked him to quote on another window that would require him to drill through tile. He said they wouldn't do this because the likelihood of damaging the tile was high. I also asked him to provide a quote on four dining room windows. The quote seemed rather high. He was able to give me quotes on the spot, which I appreciated as some of the other vendors made me wait several days while they worked out a quote with the manufacturer. In the end, I decided to go with another vendor who had a better quote.
Description of Work: Provide window treatment for one small arched window and one regular sized window.

The people and service were great. A sales rep brought samples to the house so I could see colors in the rooms where they'd go, and he took measurements and ordered the blinds. The young man who installed them was quick, neat, and quiet, and he made good suggestions about fixing the pull-cords so our cats couldn't play with them. It was a good experience all around, and we really like the blinds.

They ordered the wrong size and they had to reorder the treatments twice. They had to come out 4 times for the installation. Everything is up and fine now.

I recently completed a rehab of my condo, and my dealings with 3 Day Blinds was truly the only negative experience I had during the entire rehab. I initially met with Heather, the sales person, on 9/25/2009 based on a recommendation from the designer with whom I had worked. I picked a Hunter Douglass blind for the living room, which in hindsight meant I lost the ability to have Hunter's warranty and was subject to the one from 3 Day Bliinds. I picked a 3 Day Blinds product for the bedroom; given the size of the bedroom window, I ordered two side by side blinds. Heather mis-measured both rooms, so given the installers had pulled down my old blinds / brackets and put up the new ones, I was left with no window treatment in the living room and only one of two in the bedroom. I was left in this situation for a few weeks, which was uncomfortable given that I live in a high rise facing another one. I didn't ask for an additional discount, but for the record, I was never offered one either given 3 Day was responsible for my major inconvenience. The Hunter Douglas blinds were altered and installed on the 2nd try; I love the blinds and would highly recommend Hunter Douglas products. Unfortunately, there were still problems with the 3 Day Blinds product as the new set had some markings and didn't align with the set already hung. On the 3rd try, I was assured the 2 new pair of side by side blinds was being handled by the special service dept., yet the 3rd try was a failure as the two sets were not aligned; frankly, given I ordered side by side blinds, I assumed 3 Day would make sure they aligned on the first try. FINALLY, on the fourth try, four months after the original order (making 3 Day Blinds a major misnomer to me), and going thru special services again (and trust me I was dubious since I had been assured on try 3, that they wouldn't get it wrong and would focus on making sure the pair of blinds aligned), they got it right. The only bright side in all of this was Al, the installer, who is contracted by 3 Day Blinds as a third party. He and his business partner showed an interest in quality that I never saw from 3 Day Blinds themselves, recognizing the inconvenience I had endured and inspecting the product with great attention to detail. They also showed up when they promised, which drives my score on punctuality. I will never go back to 3 Day Blinds and will guide friends to avoid them.

We've used 3 Day Blinds 2x but never ever again! The first time - Fall of 2008 everything went well. So when we needed new shades/blinds for the kitchen and family room we called our salesperson at 3 Day Blinds. That was in April, 2009 and I am still working out the problems now in the Fall of 2009 - it's the worst experience ever. We ordered the shades/blinds in April. They arrived in May and the installer finally came out. Only to find that the wrong brackets were ordered. They had to be reordered - that took over 5 weeks!! Then it took 2 weeks for the installer to come back out. And 1 month later the handles on the shades fell off. It took 2 weeks for the installer to come out, decide he couldn't fix it and then reordered the shades. After 4 weeks the shades arrived at our house and that was 3 weeks ago. The installer is supposed to be here this morning.

3 day blinds, 3 day nightmare...this was one of the worst business experiences I have had. The first thing that the person (Heather) who came to measure our windows said to my husband, oh how much do these condos go for these days! very inappropriate. She was supposed to give us an estimate the day she came to measure. We had to keep calling and emaling her to get her to send us an estimate only to get something that she estimated initially when we were in the store with my measurements. When I called to discuss this, yet again, I received her voicemail and she did not get back to me for three days. No wonder the place filed for bankruptcy. Instead we decided to go with Windy City Blinds - we received an estimate which was about $100 more than 3 day blinds but we are actually getting Hunter Douglas blinds not some generic knock off that 3 day offered. Shop around before you settle for something!

They came out and took the measurements. They were very professional and brought the sample book for me to have a look at the colors and styles. .They were very quick and friendly. I gave them half the amount as deposit and they said that they will call me in 2 or 3 weeks. After 3 weeks I called them to find out the status and they said that it was held up in the warehouse. I am currently in touch with them to find out what is going on. Though their price was twice as much as another company I used before, I felt that it was worth it. I might not use them in future.

It may have been a bad omen when I helped our saleslady carry in the samples and the sample case fell apart, scattering samples across a neighbor's lawn. But it was all retrieved and we had a good time looking at samples. Carol was good at recognizing the potential of different colors and textures to bring a room alive. We made our choices. She measured the windows, took a check for 1/2 the amount, arranged for direct shipment to our home, and told us it would be 2-3 weeks. After 2-3 weeks, I called Eddie Zs to find that the curtains were enroute to their store in Downers Grove. Meanwhile, Eddie Z's was calling my wife to find out when the saleslady could deliver the drapes. As it happened, I had some other business in the same plaza, so I picked up the order the following weekend. When I brought it home, I found no hardware for the dining room curtains. I installed the kitchen shades instead and called Eddie Z's to ask for the missing hardware. It didn't occur to me to check the width of the other living room curtains, but 3 out of 5 were measured too long for an inside install. I called Carol with this news and left a message on the answering machine. So far she hasn't called back, but it has only been abut 6-7 hours. So at this point, I have 4 of 10 treatments installed. The ones that are up look and work great. I have boxes along the sides of the living room knowing that I may need to re-use the boxes if the order has to be picked up. Everyone that I spoke with was very nice and well-intentioned. They really seem to want to get me what I ordered. I was even offered my choice of a dinner out or movie tickets to make up for the inconvenience of having to drive to Downers Grove to pick up the shades. Unfortunately, the manager who was supposed to call my wife with the dinner or movie offer hasn't called yet. She did get some other calls asking about where the curtains were to be delivered after we had already picked them up. But if driving gets a promised dinner out, the wrong size/missing hardware episode ought to earn us a week's trip to Fiji. They're nice folks and I hate to write a bad review. And I think they will get this right eventually. But, except for the in-home consultation, I could have saved a lot of money by going to Lowe's.

The installation was good, but they outsource the installation. There was a confusion with the sales person and he wrote the wrong color for 9 windows. Their response to this mistake was you signed the illegible contract that had all the colors and types on the contract. We noticed the mistake before they installed the treatments, but told us it would still cost us 400 to install the treatments. You would think in this economy when a customer is spending this much and your sales agent screws up they could cover the cost for the installer to come back out.

It was impossible to schedule a time to get an estimate. Marvin was on vacation and they made us wait for him to come back -- was there nobody else who could give us an estimate? Marvin came to our house, and all he could talk about was how he had just been on vacation and didn't want to be working. He scribbled a bunch of numbers on a legal pad, and handed it to us, that was our estimate.

5/5/08 - I went to the store and ordered one vertical blind and one cellular shade from Tara. She was extremely helpful. She said the blinds I purchased needed to be custom made and it would take 7 to 10 business days. Five days later I receive the vertical blind and 7 days later I received the horizontal shade. The blinds were packaged extremely well. They arrived in perfect condition. First I installed the vertical blind which only had a slight problem with the loop cord. They shortened it at no charge. I then installed the cell shade. I needed to get spacers for the head rail because it is an outside mount and has to be further away from the wall due to the window casing protruding from the wall by 3/4." I picked them up at the store, again at no charge. Both installations were painless. I just didn't like the design of the continuous loop cord on the cell shade. It has to mount off to the side of the shade which makes it look awkward. The cost was a little pricey which probably explains all of the free stuff. However, I can say I would still return to order my next blinds from them.

The process did not go well - the shade was not correctly measured to begin with, getting a status of when the parts would be in and scheduling the installation was also very difficult. Eddie Z's does not effectively communicate with their customers. Be warned, if you want a status it will be up to call Eddie Z's multiple times to get it. On the second installation attempt the tracks for the shade were still too short. One bright spot in the process was the installer Les who was great, and made the shorter tracks work until we receive the larger tracks. This was important as we had a new born baby and the shade was going into the baby's room. All in all, I was very put off by how many excuses I would hear from Eddie's Z when speaking to their customer service department. Instead of being offered solutions, I was first always offered an excuse - poor form Eddie Z's, don't make your problem your customers problems - think solutions first.

Sales person was able to come earlier than our scheduled time which worked out well for me. She was very knowledgeable and offered good suggestions. She was able to give me an estimate that day. Then was able to lower the price $300 more based on some changes to the order. She lowered it even more ($85) if i paid in full and signed that night. I wasn't ready to commit to buy at the time.

The blinds are good and the installation is good but it took almost five weeks for VERY standard-type blinds, nothing fancy no special order. I could have gotten them much sooner at a dozen places for similar cost +/- 10%. The people were friendly enough and understanding, but the company moves slow. My order was held up for five days because they did not have the correct color for the pull-cords, white or chrome. Nobody called to tell me it was on hold. Installation took one week to schedule.
