"It was terrible overall. Russell Walker from Panda Brand Construction, LLC contacted me 2am on March 5, 2025. I asked him to call me during business hours. I met with Russell on March 7, 2025 to go over what needed to be done in my home. I hired him on March 16, 2025 to scheme coat and paint living room going up stairs, repair and paint my ceiling, install kitchen cabinets, install kitchen flooring going into bathroom off kitchen area and drywalling and completing my utility room as well as epoxy countertops. The total amount, $6,700 labor and I provided all materials. On March 16, 2025 I gave Mr. Walker a cash deposit of $2,000 and received a receipt with his signature on it. He started the work on March 17, 2025 and asked for the remaining deposit of $1, 375.00 to complete half of the down payment of $6,700. I gave it to him. He was never on time to work. He would show up every day at 11am or later and leave at 3-3:30 pm. This went on from 3/17-3/31/2025. The second day at my home, Mr. Walker brought an ex-convict to my home and the two of them had a confortation and threatened to call the police on each other. After that, everyday he was bringing different individuals to my home and they were sabotaging to get more money to fix items that were not broken in the beginning. I continue to tell Mr. Walker that he needs to do better with all the work and people he was bringing. He agreed with me. Mr. Walker told me that the work in my home would only take one week to complete. I questioned that time frame and he assured me of that time. However, on week three he was still at my home and NOT one room or project was completed. He bounced all over my home not finishing anything. On March 31, 2025, Mr. Walker told a person that was helping him do work at my home to tell me he will not be returning to my home to finish anymore work. He later, showed up on 3/31/2025 to pick up his tools and told me that "since he feels that I get along better with the other person and not him. I should let the other person complete the projects". However, the other person was not qualified. He was a roofer. Because he was a roofer, he sent that person on my roof to sabotage, by pulling shingles off my roof to get more money from me to repair it. I have all the proof of pictures and text messages he sent about my roof weeks after he ran off with my deposit and abandoned the work. I also, took pictures of Mr. Walker's sloppy work (painting) that a child could have done better. He breached the contract and I would like my money back. I believe his bonded and license is a Phony and he is a Fraud."

Chicagoland Home Products is an independently owned and operated closet and window treatment company founded in 2011. With over 25 years of experience in design, manufacturing and installation, you can be sure that Chicagoland Home Products will deliver a quality product, whether it's custom closets, garage organizers, pantries or custom window treatments. We accept all major credit cards and we are Better Business Bureau accredited.
"Greg visited our location to do measurements himself. Then Greg created an initial design for our 2 closets. We reviewed them and ask for some modifications. He made those changes then visited us to go over the details and we asked for an additional shelf in another alcove space. All done and installed the week before we moved in. Greg was terrific in working with us. AND his proposal was about $500 less than a well advertised competitor, who didn't even visit the location!"

"If I could give zero stars I would! Russ claimed they’ve done concrete countertops before and we were careful to select a company that had done them since they’re pretty difficult. We have huge concrete cracks that he refuses to rectify saying it’s something WE did to cause! He was a major bully over text exchanges with my husband and I, and his team did a sloppy job with our backslash. 0/10 do not recommend Russ."

"It was horrible. Ken came by my house with 2 sheets of dry wall, which I didn't need. Laid down paper on the floor for his workers. So what he was actually doing was staging the project. He didn't have his contract in order. After looking at the contract, he notice something was wrong and could not figure out what happen. The price he quoted me was $5100. Then he thought that was too low, so he went back to his truck to make some changes and came back with a lower quote, but I said well I want the $5100 quote for the entire job as quoted before. After he made changes to the contract, I signed. The next day his workers come out start working. They took the toilet and sink and then he calls me and tells me "Oh you have to buy the materials. He could have told me that up front but instead he said look at the contract. He was very misleading. This guy should be band from Angie's List. I had to spend additional $600 dollars for back splash. Then he tells me I owe him $168 dollars for materials that his workers bought that was not part of the contract. Like contractor garbage bags, pencils, water, etc. I just paid him and told him I will finish the work. Now I have to buy a toilet and a sink for my vanity that he took. B******."

Building a custom closet costs about $2,000, on average. Because many types, sizes, and designs are available, the cost to build custom closets ranges from $250 to $6,000 or more. A reach-in closet is on the lower end of the price range from about $250 to $1,500, compared to a walk-in closet at $750 to $3,500 or a wardrobe at the high end between $1,500 and $6,000 or more.
The main difference between a closet and a wardrobe is that a closet is a separate room for general storage with its own door, and a wardrobe can be either built-in or freestanding place to store clothing. A walk-in or reach-in closet connected to a bedroom often serves the same purpose as a wardrobe by primarily storing clothes and shoes. A built-in wardrobe often does not have doors and leaves clothes exposed to view, whereas a standalone wardrobe usually has doors.
You may need a building permit to add a closet, depending on the size and kind of work required to install it. The most likely scenario requiring a permit involves changing the structure of the house and performing electrical work for closet lighting. A permit can cost between $100 and $450. If you’re installing a smaller reach-in closet, a permit may not be required, but always check with your local municipality and consult a closet designer or builder.
Different types of closets are defined mostly by size. A few different types of closets include:
A reach-in closet is a smaller closet that you can stand in front of and reach everything inside it. Aside from the size, the doors and the level of drywall finish are typically the largest price factors.
A walk-in closet can be anything from a small 5-by-5 feet closet that has a narrow walkway with shelves on both sides to a 100 square foot bedroom-sized closet with shelving along the walls and plenty of room to move around in.
A built-in wardrobe often does not have a door and leaves the clothes and other contents open to the room, whereas a closet usually has a door to separate it from the rest of the room.
Yes, building a custom closet can definitely add value to your home. Creating a more useful and pleasing space to your home, especially a custom closet for prospective home buyers to imagine as their own, is likely to increase the value. However, avoid overdoing it with a closet that takes up too much space that’s otherwise more useful as living space, or paying extra for overly lavish materials and finishes that aren’t likely to add more value than they cost.
