Competent, clean, punctual. He said we needed a new liner and the connection from furnace was improper. We're checking on this, may be accurate. We were not budgeting for this.

He was on time, friendly and polite. He was efficient and worked in the crawlspace to clean the furnace. He showed me the dirt that was pulled from the ductwork and left the house clean.

Would use them again and recommend them to others.

Shawn was great! We recently moved into this house. The inspector said we should have the fireplace examined, because there were cracks in the firewall. Shawn crawled up onto the roof to check the chimney and also found that the attic fan was damaged--so that critters could get in. (Sure enough a few days later we had a critter!) Wrote two estimates. Shawn showed up within the time slot both times--for the estimate/evaluation and the installation. Very polite and concerned about cleanliness. Answered all my questions and even some I didn't think to ask. A bit pricey, but then thought I got great quality work. I'd use them again.

Called for chimney sweep, but after seeing our fireplace, the tech felt that only an inspection, rather than cleaning was necessary. Work completed quickly and explained everything he saw. Tech was very helpful and explained some items and gave on-the-spot estimates to repair a number of the items. I would do business with this firm again.

I have lived in my house for quite some time and I have never had my air ducts cleaned. A friend of mine recommended I do so because it seemed like my allergies were getting worse. I called Kingsborough because they had a high rating on Angie's List. They were super friendly, had me scheduled the same week, brought in this big machine but didn't leave even a scuff on my floor or walls, had it done quickly at a good price. The young man explained the process to me thoroughly and was quite knowledgeable. My allergies have improved significantly since I had it done.

Very pleasant guy, very thorough. Wrote up the problem for me so I wouldn't forget, and so that I'd have something to show the upstairs neighbor, with whom I will have to work to fix the problem. I did have to wait several months for an appointment, but I called during the busiest time of year--the beginning of the fireplace season.

Sean was cordial, polite and efficient. A very good representative for his company. We did have an issue with their answering service. But that wouldn't prevent us from using them again or recommending them, which we would do.

We called Kingsborough for a second opinion on the need for the chimney liner since this was a relatively expensive job. They confirmed the need and we ultimately used Kingsborough for the work even though their estimate was slightly higher than the first firm. I believe the price differential was due to the liner product itself. Shawn was professional, polite, prompt and seemed quite knowledgeable about his work and products. He took great care in making sure our house stayed clean while performing his work. Shawn also identified a problem with our dryer vents that had been overlooked by previous vent cleaning firms - smaller diameter pipes connected to larger diameter pipes reduced exhaust pressure and caused a dangerous buildup of lint. There was no hard sell to perform the work - he suggested that if I was handy I could do the job myself. I preferred to see it done right. I plan on using this firm for future chimney inspections and vent cleanings.

Wonderful. Shawn came out and cleaned the fireplace and installed a chimney cap on the first visit. He was very neat; he took off his shoes to walk on my carpets, and laid down a tarp to work in the fireplace. He then gave me a brochure with various gas-log fireplace kits, from which I chose a set of logs. I put down a deposit (check) for the cleaning and the chimney cap, and Shawn even gave me a 5% discount (not mentioned on Angie's List)! About 10 days later he called me up, first thing in the morning, said that my logs were in and he had some time this afternoon; would I be available for him to come over and have the work finished? He came over after lunch and finished the conversion of the fireplace from wood burning to gas burning in about 1 hour. He also completed some minor tuckpointing inside the fireplace. I was very appreciative of that, as I did not want to have someone come out and tuck point just my fireplace.

Great to work with. Sean actually arrived about 15 minutes early and did a very thorough job. I had just bought the house and wanted everything checked out and cleaned before moving in. He kept me informed about what he was doing, what needed to be done, and what didn't. Very pleased with the whole experience of working with this company. If the reports allowed for an overall A+ I'd give one here.

Shawn was punctual and thorough. He did not pressure a decision for replacement of a rusted cover, but offered an estimate.

We were very satisfied with this company. The gentlemen was very professional and left no mess behind. We appreciated his recommendation that we consider installing a better damper in one of the fireplaces.

Kingsborough's office staff were quick on response for all appraisals. All work (performed single-handedly by Sean) was done on-time and always included a complete and thorough clean-up of job site. Sean spent a great deal of time making sure we understood the current condition of the chimneys, and the extent of the work that needed to be performed to prevent further rapid deterioration and to greatly increase the fuel efficiency of the newly-installed furnace. We are extremely pleased with the level of service, results, and will have additional work done in Summer 2006.

Using other companies for this job in the past left my house a mess. Kingsborough has a machine that removes the lint buildup from the outside so the job was clean, easy, and quick. They did a before and after reading on the efficiency of the dryer. Sean, the professional and very nice tech, called en route to update me on his arrival time. The company is busy, so plan to wait a few weeks for service, but I would certainly use them again. Angie's List discount was applied.

THEY PROVIDED THE WIDE RANGE OF SERVICE I NEEDED, AND THEY WERE ABLE TO CLEAN THE VENT VERY THOROUGHLY. A GREAT JOB AT A GREAT PRICE. SHAWN WAS ON TIME, EFFICIENT, AND KNOWLEDGEABLE. HE EVEN GOT ON THE ROOF AND INSPECTED THE CHIMNEY. HE GAVE ME MANY OPTION ON FUTURE REPAIR WORK.

I CALLED KINGSBOROUGH FIRST BECAUSE OF THE GLOWING REPORTS I READ ON THE LIST. HOWEVER, I DECIDED NOT TO HAVE THE WORK DONE SINCE THEY WOULD NOT BE ABLE INSPECT AND CLEAN MY CHIMNEY FOR 3 WEEKS, AND THE COST WAS OUTRAGEOUSLY HIGH: $175

SEAN WAS PUNCTUAL, EFFICIENT AND PLEASANT TO WORK WITH. WE WOULD RECOMMEND KINGSBOROUGH FOR AIR DUCT CLEANING.

THEY CALLED BEFORE THEY CAME, WAS VERY PROFESSIONAL (REMOVED SHOES WHEN IN THE HOUSE) AND TOLD US WE DIDN'T NEED CLEANING. THE CRACK IN THE FIREPLACE WAS NORMAL HAIRLINE CRACK AND TO CALL IF IT GOT BIGGER. THEY CHECKED THE CONNECTIONS TO THE CHIMNEY AND I MENTIONED WE MIGHT BE REMOVING THE BOILER BECAUSE WE HAVE DUPLICATE HEATING SOURCES. HE WARNED ME TO LINE THE CHIMNEY OR GET A NEW SIDE VENT WATER HEATER SINCE THE CHIMNEY WOULD BE OVERSIZED AND HAVE FLUE CONDENSATION AND YOU WOULD DEVELOP PROBLEMS DOWN THE ROAD. SINCE I AM A MECHANICAL ENGINEER, I KNEW THAT, BUT IT WAS NICE TO HAVE A SERVICE LOOKING TO PREVENT PROBLEMS AND NOT WAITING FOR THE CALL BACK WITH LARGE TICKET ITEM IN A FEW YEARS. THEY ARE HONEST AND KNOWLEDGEABLE.

THE WORKER DID A VERY THOROUGH INSPECTION FINDING SEVERAL SERIOUS PROBLEMS WITH OUR FIREPLACES. HE FOLLOWED UP THE INSPECTION WITH A WRITTEN EVALUATION AND ESTIMATE INCLUDING COLOR PHOTOS HE TOOK INSIDE OUR CHIMNEY WHICH WE THOUGHT WERE FANTASTIC SINCE IT WAS VERY HELPFUL FOR US THEN TO UNDERSTAND THE PROBLEMS SINCE WE COULD SEE IT FOR OURSELVES. WE DECIDED NOT TO HAVE THE WORK DONE THIS YEAR, BUT WE DO PLAN ON CALLING KINGSBOROUGH TO DO THE WORK.
