Arcadia Painting Plus

I contacted Arcadia Painting in mid April when I saw that the business had excellent reviews and a special Angie's List deal. Sherry, the business owner, came out the same day that I requested an estimate. Since my house has an exterior in excess of 1600 sq. ft., Sherry advised that she would charge me the $1299 for the Angies's list deal and charge me $1.75 per sq foot for the additional footage. I received the estimate a few days later via email and the total project cost at this time was $3049.00. I sent in my deposit and requested a start date in early June. As the start date approached, I contacted Sherry to see if she was on schedule. Sherry stated that due to the rain, she was behind and would contact me in the next week or two once she caught up on her other scheduled jobs. I understood the delay due to the amount of rain we received in the area over the Spring. Towards the middle of June, I again contacted Sherry to see when my project would start. She advised that she was still trying to catch up and that she would have the power washing done right away. The power washing was done a few days later. After some pressure by me to start the caulking and painting portion of the project, Sherry and her employees came out on July 4 to caulk the entire house. Sherry requested coming out of the holiday which I said no problem. I appreciated them coming out of the Fourth of July, but Sherry and I had a dispute regarding the additional cost of using Quad caulk on all areas of the house and not just "as needed". She wanted an additional $300 or $400, but we finally agreed on $200. I didn't want to argue about it and it was a very uncomfortable situation. Also, I wanted my front door painted and we agreed on an additional $150.00 for primer and 2 coats of paint. The following week the crew came out to start the painting process. The painters were very nice and took pride in their jobs. Sherry had indicated that the painting would take about a day, which I thought was impossible since my house is very big and has ceder siding. One of the painters informed me numerous times that the ceder siding was very dry and was requiring more paint then expected. The painting took 2 days to complete which I had predicted. When the job was completed, I walked through the completed project and found numerous areas that needed to be touched up. Also, another employee found several additional areas that needed to be touched up, too. I felt the job was really rushed the last day and the workers were under a lot of pressure to get the job done and to move on to their next job . I felt the quality of the job was effected due to the haste. After the painters left, I found two down spouts that had not been reattached to my house. I contacted Sherry regarding this, and she came out the next morning to reattach the downspouts. One of the downspouts was not reattached correctly again and is now making noise when it rains. I didn't bother calling Sherry again. In my opinion, if you are in a hurry and have a hard deadline with your painting project, Arcadia is probably not the company for you. Arcadia appears to be a very small company with one or two small crews. Sherry did a good job at communicating with me throughout the project, which was the best part of the job. If you do go with Aracdia, I recommend that you work out all the extras costs and options and have them specifically written into the contract before it is signed. This will avoid some of the problems I had. I would possibly hire Arcadia again, but would contact other companies first.

Sherry rescheduled a couple of times due to rain washing out her other jobs. Frankly, I must have called her 8-10 times with questions as we were planning the job before she came - and she ALWAYS answered, was invariably pleasant and took plenty of time to answer me. In the long run, the rescheduling worked out better for us because my husband was home Saturday to remove storm windows and coordinate getting extra paint for the ceiling, etc. They were actually early for the job, arriving at 7:30, bringing in a swat team of 6 workers and leaving by 2:30 after painting and filling the ceiling of the front porch (which now looks wonderful! - it was an add-on to the job), doing the outsides of 20 windows and the inside of one, about 15 corbels on the third floor, and throwing in the double Adirondack chair which my husband had been promising to repaint for at least 5-6 years (Thanks, Sherry, Jessica and Sandy!). They just kept saying, "Do you want us to paint that?" whenever we asked a question which resulted in adding on the ceiling of the porch and the chair while they were here. It was very refreshing to have such nice and considerate people working on the house! Great clean-up, too, and care with my gardens so they didn't smash any of the plantings.

We used the deal for the service. It went great. The company was very professional and polite. Great experience.

They arrived on time and got done more than we expected in the day. They did a pretty good job and we were happy with the overall job they did. For the most part everything was cleaned up nicely just a little tape was missed for removal. Only complaint was that it was difficult to make an appointment I had to call a couple times and send an email to get an appointment but they squeezed us in.

I have very mixed feelings about the service we received. We purchased the Big Deal for exterior painting for $1,299.00. After meeting with Sherry, we decided to schedule the job for the middle of June. Since it was raining for large periods of time, with all of Arcdia's other jobs going on this got pushed back to the middle of July. I wasn't in too much of a hurry at that time, so while it was annoying, it wasn't the end of the world. Then when that date came and went, I finally had enough of the waiting and called Angie's list to request a refund. Two days later I received a call from Sherry letting me know that she was ill and was unable to complete the job on the specified day. She also asked if we were still interested in having the job done. Since I hadn't lined anyone else up to do the job, to my wife's dismay, I decided to give Arcadia another shot and had them scheduled to come out on Sunday. On paint day at 8:30am we were all set with what we wanted done, after a "discussion", by 9:00am my wife decided she would like two entirely different colors on the house. I mention this only to say that Sherry was very accommodating in switching the colors at the last minute. The new colors required an extra coat of paint, hence the extra $400.00 from the Big Deal price to the finished price which I thought was more than reasonable. The paint job was very good. The painters were friendly and professional. My only two issues with them were 1) some minor paint dripped on the siding in a few places that they tried to clean off but weren't completely successful and 2) They needed a smaller brush than they had brought to finish one area and grabbed one out of my garage to use without asking first. I didn't really need the brush, so the fact that they needed it didn't bother me. I just wish they would have asked first. Lastly, it would have been nice to have seen Sherry even for a few minutes during the painting or immediately afterward just to check in and see how the job went, and how we felt about the job. In summary, I would say... if you're not into communication or deadlines, Arcadia can certainly do a good job painting at a good price. If you're on a timeline, you may want to look elsewhere. To Angie's List - regarding this question "Would you use this provider in the future?" I would like a "Maybe" option.

The crew did an excellent job with the painting. They were very professional and neat, and they worked quickly- they for a lot done in the time they were here. The only problem that I had was that twice I was expecting sherry to come and I did not hear from her by the night before. I had to call her to confirm and she not only was unable to come on the scheduled day, but did not remember that she was supposed to come. That being said, the guys did a super job. As long as time was not an issue, I would definitely use them. So I'd you're looking for a great deal and don't care about the timeline too much, take the Big Deal from Arcadia.

Due to weather conditions firm appointment could not be set. They worked in between the raindrops. They were rained out the first time they came, and a single individual finished the job a coupleof weeks later on the day before Mothers Day. The job looks good, and generally I was pleased.

Sherry and her team were excellent. In addition to getting the exterior done, we also had them do the interior ceiling and walls, foyer walls, stairwell walls, and upstairs hallway walls. Lines were clean, workers were friendly. Work went quick. Great experience.

I called Sherry and set-up an appointment for her to come to my home for an exterior painting estimate. She was supposed to arrive on Tuesday (6/24/13) at noon. She did not show-up, nor did she call to explain why. We called her and she just blew us off and said she got stuck at another site and couldn't make it. So, we reschedule for Thursday and she calls to change appointment time and ultimately does NOT SHOW-UP or call AGAIN. For the owner of the business, I was appalled by her lack of professionalism. Needless to say, we will not be using her services. We will also not hesitate to tell others the kind of "service" we received from this contractor.

Sherry was incredibly responsive and her crew was able to schedule our job in a little over a week! Even though there was the potential of a scheduling issue, Sherry made it all work out in the end and was incredibly flexible and fair with the pricing. Sherry and her crew were very kind and professional. I will use them again.

We contacted Sherry before purchasing the exterior painting on Angie's List and she was very cordial and came out the same day to quote us a price. She stated that we did not have to purchase it through Angie and she would honor the price. When we got back from vacation I contacted her to let her know we had returned. She stated she would be out at the end of April to power wash. We were into the first week of May and no power washing. I contacted Sherry again and she told me that they would be out in a couple of days. Heard nothing again so on the 15th of May I called again to let her know we were going with someone else. She stated that she was planning on coming out the following Friday to start (5/17) and I told her no. I had to block my phone number so she would answer the call. The 2 times before she would not answer with my phone number showing but would answer when it was block. I feel that there was no communication with on Sherry's side to keep us informed about the job she was to do. If she would have just called stating the reason or reasons she was waiting on our job I probably would have understood but we have had this estimate since 3/2/13 and as of May 15th nothing was done.

aWork was done in timely manner . and good job was performed. But came to know afterwards it was way Pricy.

Sherry did a wonderful job. I am a perfectionist and I have no complaints. I have received only positive comments on the newly painted walls. Sherry is very accommodating and will go above and beyond to please you. She takes great pride in her work and business. I will use her again and highly recommend her.

The Owner of Arcadia Painting Plus (Sherry) came to my home the day Arcadia started the work, and made sure her employees had everything they needed, for the project, and that they were ready to start the work. The project took a two (2) days, and Sherry made it a point to show up both days. That says a lot to me about the pride Arcadia has in there workmanship, and the respect they have for their costumers. I have had many contractors work for me in past, and I must say Arcadia Painting Plus, is one of the best, if not the best contractors I have dealt with in a long time. Not only is Sherry very knowledgeable, and courteous but her employees were extremely professional, and knowledgeable. I would defiantly use, and recommend Arcadia Painting Plus to anybody.

Sherry (the owner) responded quickly when I called to schedule an appointment for an estimate. The estimate was very competitive and we hired her and her team to paint the exterior of our 1922 Dutch Colonial. They arrived on a Monday and we had a wonderfully painted "new" house by Wednesday. We were so happy with the work, we also asked Sherry to give us a bid on power-washing and staining our back deck and it looks beautiful. We have had so many compliments on the new paint job. We just moved into the neighborhood-- so it has been such a plesant surprise to have our new neighbors stop by to say how nice the house looks! Sherry and her team were prompt, professional, and skilled. My huband and I both work during the day, but our neighbors pointed out how much activity there was around the house. They said the team was working efficiently and constantly through the day. We couldn't be happier with our experience with Arcadia painting and would definitely hire them again.

Had two medium-sized bedrooms I needed painted in a home we recently purchased. I called them up and they got back to me the same day and got something scheduled the next week. Two people came to paint the two rooms. They were scheduled to arrive at 9, but due to traffic they arrived closer to 10am. No big deal, it happens when you're coming from the burbs. They were personable and friendly, but focused and efficient. They were able to get to work right away and finished in about four hours. Solid job - two coats, and they cleaned up pretty well afterwards. My wife is extremely exacting and notices even the most minute error. If there is an errant molecule of paint on the trim, she notices. When she came by to inspect, she brought a magnifying glass to examine edges and corners. She noticed a couple of spots where she said there was some bleed and what appeared to be bristle splatter, which disappointed her. She also observed some drywall dust on the floor, presumably from some prep they did prior to painting. Personally, I didn't see anything even as she was pointing it out to me, so...make of that what you will. Still, she insisted that I mention this in the review, so there you have it. If you're the unforgiving "if I pay for it, it has to be absolutely flawless" sort, you may not be completely satisfied. But two rooms in four hours? Better than I could have done, which to me is why I pay to have these things done. Either way, great value overall. If it were entirely up to me, I would definitely use them again.

The job went beautifully, much better than expected. The drywall turned out perfect. I was so shocked that the ceiling looks great. She said it would look great when she was done and she was absolutely right! Sherry promised all would be in great shape when she was done and she delivered. I read many other reviews where the drywall people did a great job but were expensive. Sherry did a great job at a reasonable price. I would hire her again, and she says she does a lot more than just drywall and paint.

I saw that Arcadia Painting was advertising a special on Angie's list for 4 hours of painting for 199.00 so I called to see if she serviced my area and told her what I wanted to be painted. We had a nice conversation, she told me that she does service my area and gave me the next available interior painting appt she had available. We (my husband and I) decided to move forward and take that appointment. I was going to provide the paint, she also advised me that I would get her discount at Sherwin Williams if I told them she was doing the work. The night before our appointment Sherry called to let me know that she had a problem with her work vehicle and could we schedule for the day after, I had no problem with that and thanked her for the call. We had a time frame of when she would be showing up because of the distance and she was within that range, although she did say that it ended up taking 2hours to get to me - I felt so bad. Sherry arrived with her painting partner, they looked at the areas to be covered and we discussed whether or not they were going to patch things or just start painting, we decided to patch and they got started. My husband and I are very frugal and prefer to do things like painting ourselves, but with this foyer and staircase we needed to call the professionals, and I really liked that she was happy to show me the best and fastest way to fix a nail pop or spackleing corners. We also discussed different types of paints and we determined that I probably spent twice as much as what was needed, oh well, lesson learned. They both worked very fast and did a tremendous amount of work for such a short amount of time. Everything had 2 coats of paint, they were careful with the edging, even at 20 feet high. She also did me a very nice favor of changing the lightbulbs in my light fixture that we can not reach:). We added the ceiling in at the last minute and I can't even begin to say how pleased we are with the results. Everything looks very professionally done. My experience with Sherry and her crew was very positive, they were respectful and very knowledgable and willing to answer any questions I had about other parts of our home. When they were finished with the project she was very concerned with the cleanup and insisted on doing it herself, I insisted she get home to her family and pets, especially with such a long ride ahead. I would absolutely hire Sherry again! I had more than 4hours worth of work so I did not end up buying the special coupon, but I do know that I got an amazing deal, I believe a very fair price for all of the work they performed would have been well over $1200.

The painting was fine first go-round but upon realizing the trim and power-wash were neglected, we had them back to do the trim. (Too late now to power wash.) So as a trade-off we got them to power-wash a brick patio. They were always at least 4 hours late arriving from the time they committed to, throughout that make-up work period. They also agreed - for a new fee - to take on painting a front door but then never showed back up to do it, nor returned any subsequent calls.

Our paint on our cedar siding paint was peeling. Unfortunately, the previous owner had painted instead of stained the home. We saw a deal on Angie's list with Arcadia Painting Plus. They helped us pick out colors and a paint that would layer well on top of the old paint without causing any damage. The trim lines are clean. The staff was courteous and responsive to any questions and concerns I had. They patched and replaced rotted wood. Neighbors have complimented us on the clean look our house now has.

It went very well. They did a Great job! Although it was extremely hot, they worked hard all day and completed it quickly. It looks great!

She came for an estimate and it was way higher than other estimates I received, so I decided to go with another company. She was very nice though and arrived on time. She was able to give an estimate on the spot.

I selected Arcadia because our house is over 100 years old and I was not interested in replacing the wood windows and cedar siding. Arcadia also had the ability to make repairs to the siding and trim eliminating the need for a second contractor. The service was originally planned for right after Labor Day. However, I noticed from other Angie's List reviews that they were behind schedule. I called Sherry and suggested we reschedule to October 8, 2012 to allow her time to recover from a medical issue. Unfortunately, her medical condition interferred in October. The two guys that arrived knew what they were doing but there were a couple of communication failures between Sherry and the two guys. Both guys were professional, and the quality of their work was outstanding. They even painted our cables to match the color of the house behind the cables, and removed gutters. They replaced wood that needed to be replaced and they removed storm windows to paint the window sills. The only delay occurred because Sherry was not onsight until they had completed their work, so some additional painting was required before the job was complete. If you plan on taking time off work to be present during the painting then insist on a specific start and completion date, and call Sherry regularly to make sure she is still on schedule. The completion time was not as important to me, therefore my only irritation was that because Sherry was ill, she did not call me to let me know they needed to start later and the guys that came out did not know the details of the contract. I will definitely use Arcadia again, because the quality of the work out weighed the minor irriation of lack of communition from Sherry. In addition, Since Sherry uses a combination primer-paint, the job gets done quicker with the same coverage.

She was very polite and prompt. We discussed everything and reached an agreement but unforseen circumstances came up and I had to cancel the deal.
