TCF CARPENTRY

I must say that he did a good job on the bathroom floors and they were wonderful. I had a problem with the ramp he built though where he left it unfinished at the end and it started to crack. I called him several time to see if he could come and redo the end and he never came. Now it has begun to crack all he way up to the door and he still has not come to repair it. It is to the point now that the entire ramp will have to be rebuilt. If he would have just finished the edge, I would not have this problem. I think he is OK for small jobs, but it takes too much to try and get him back for mistakes and after this incident I think I would prefer to hire someone else if I ever need a new ramp. I just never heard anything from him after I called him back, no calls or anything ever.

Good value and craftsmanship. TCF completed this project for us in Nov 2006. It's been 8 months and we are happy we were able to get our foyer/kitchen done by this company. We had all our materials ready and they completed the job in 3 weeks. I was looking for a company who would supply all the labor and be able to do the entire job- it was hard to find someone to do a kitchen including the floors. A couple months later, I was ready to re-do the adjoining family room (floors and fireplace) along with a bathroom. Unfortunately, the quote was too high for us.

Tom and the entire TCF team are an absolute pleasure! They provided a very reasonable estimate for the work to be done and went above and beyond wherever possible. The team was ALWAYS on time and professional in their work/attitude. I am VERY happy with the work they have done and would HIGHLY recommend them for any remodeling/home improvement job.

Overall, it was difficult to find a contractor that was large enough to handle the work, but at the same time small enough to give a good price and service. I really liked Tom since he actually called me back, and took the time to make sure all the detailed were covered.

The demo and drywall work went well. The work was given to an independent subcontractor. The tile work was the main problem. In correct spacing, broken tiles, and surface grout, left the final work in need of extensive cleaning. Overall, this contractor provides good general carpentry work at a reasonable price, but would not recommend again for extensive remodeling because of high priced and incompetent subcontractors. In the end, the bathroom looks good, but after 7 weeks and a lot of headaches.

Tom was prompt in giving us a detailed estimate (cost + amount of crown molding required) for the work. We had a lot of questions about the task and he answered them all patiently. He really knows his job and is great to talk to. We purchased the molding as per the estimate from the local hardware store. Tom and his brothers did an excellent job on the installation. They cleared out the work area and were clean and professional in their work. The installation took a little longer than expected, so the work had to be re-scheduled for an additional day (however, there was no additional charge, the work was completed for the estimated cost.) They cleaned up well after themselves and put all the furniture back when they were done. The results are wonderful!

Tom is extremely professional and we were so pleased with the work his crew performed. We will not only use him again in the future but have given his name to friends looking for work in the future as well.

Would have liked to have at least been told he was too busy.

Tom did a terrific job remodeling my kitchen. I am very pleased with the results. He performed the work exactly as he proposed with no hassle. He is great to work with. He utilizes the latest communication technologies which makes it easy to contact him. He's very conscientious about returning calls and emails. He is honest and fair about work changes. He also was very mindful about cleaning-up the work site each day and sealing the work area from the rest of the house to prevent construction dust from circulating through the house. He personally handled the most difficult part of the project which was re-routing electrical and plumbing. Tom is very skilled in custom woodwork. He built custom crown molding for the top of the cabinets which matched perfectly to the cabinet coloring. I was very satisfied with the overall experience and would definitely contract with Tom again for another remodeling project.

It was very good. He was so busy that he kept delaying when he was going to come. The third delay, I told him he can't. He remembered that he had already pushed me back twice, so they came on that scheduled third date. It was his brothers that did the work because he was on another job. They keep the dirt down to minimal during the renovation. Very reasonable rates. I had other estimates from other companies, and they were very high. He was willing to work with me on a price that I could afford to get the work done. I'm going to have him do my kitchen next year!

Over all, I am very pleased with the work. Tom and his brother started the work in less than one month from signing the contract. They kept me informed on every aspect of the job and completed it quickly. During the work, they gave me many options on products and placement of items. If I was unhappy about any aspect of the work, they immediately changed/redid the work to please me with no hassle. They are completely trustworthy. I was able to leave them at my house unsupervised. I would absolutely hire them again for any job.

Talked with Tom. He told me that it is extremely busy at this time and he will not be able to do work till September. I liked talking with him and he is going to come and at least give me an estimate to get some siding work done on my home and garage.

TCF was very courteous and communication was excellent. They showed up on time and did excellent work. Subcontractors used on the drywall were very good quality, but a little expensive. TCF is a good all purpose source for small to medium remodeling jobs. They are trust worthy and will send email quotes with all work itemized in detail. I plan to use them again this summer.

Tom Frye was very accommodating. He could have done the work during cold weather, but advised that it should wait because the spare shingles we had here would not be flexible in the cold. He came when he said he would and finished the job in good time. He even used Angie's List to find someone to do the gutters. He is pleasant to deal with and the price was reasonable.

These guys were GREAT!! They showed up on time, the work was fast and very good,and when they left, the family room looked better than it looked before the damage..They picked up all of the debris and even vacuumed up. THEY WERE VERY COURTEOUS. I WOULD NOT HESITATE TO CALL ON THEM AGAIN. And the job took exactly the amount of time Tom said it would take.

He seemed to know what he was talking about and his website was clear. He's really on top of it.

THEY MOUNTED A BRAND NEW GRAB BAR IN THE SHOWER, PAINTED BOTH BATHROOM WALLS AND CEILINGS WHITE. THEY REALLY KNEW WHAT THEY WERE DOING. THEY PROTECTED OUR FLOORS AND RUGS. DID A GOOD JOB OF CLEANING UP EVERY NIGHT. THEY ARE VERY PLEASANT AND NICE PEOPLE.

EXCELLENT, TOM WORKED WITH US ON OUR SCHEDULE TO COMPLETE THE PROJECT. HE SHOWED UP ON TIME AND DIDN'T LEAVE UNTIL THE JOB WAS COMPLETE AND CLEANED UP.

I WAITED 20 YEARS TO REMODEL MY KITCHEN and DINING ROOM. NOW I KNOW WHY. I NEEDED TO WAIT FOR THE RIGHT CARPENTER TO DO THE JOB. TOM and JOHN FRYE SPENT A TOTAL OF THREE WEEKS CHANGING A 1984 KITCHEN and DINING ROOM INTO A KITCHEN PEOPLE LIKE ME SEE IN A MAGAZINE. THEY WERE ON SCHEDULE and AS CLEAN AS CAN BE EXPECTED DURING A MAJOR REMODEL. THEY TOOK PRIDE IN THE WORK THEY DID, WHICH WAS SEEN IN EVERYTHING FROM THE PLASTERING and TILING TO THE FINISHED TRIM. THEY THOUGHT OF THINGS THAT I DIDN'T THINK OF. TOM FRYE CUSTOM BUILT MAIL CUBBIES, A CUSTOM LIGHT HEADER ABOVE THE SINK AREA, and TWO FRAMES SO I COULD LIGHT THE ART GLASS FROM BEHIND. HIS DETAIL ABOVE THE SINK AREA HAS TO BE MY FAVORITE! HE MATCHED THE STAIN TO THE CABINETS FACTORY COLOR ON ALL THE ITEMS HE BUILT. YOU CAN NOT TELL THE DIFFERENCE! WHAT TOOK TCF CARPENTRY THREE WEEKS WOULD HAVE TAKEN MY HUSBAND and I A YEAR, TWICE THE MATERIAL, and PERHAPS THE MARRIAGE- HA HA HA. THANK YOU, TOM and JOHN. I AM SO HAPPY WITH THE ROOMS.

I WAS IMPRESSED WITH TCF CARPENTRY ON SEVERAL POINTS. THE FIRST WAS MR. FRYES TIME TABLE. HE STARTED ON THE DATE HE SAID. IT TOOK HIM THREE DAYS TO INSTALL THE FLOORING. HIS ATTENTION TO THE SMALL DETAILS WAS VERY COOL! AT THE TIME HE WAS INSTALLING THE FLOORING HE KEPT THE AREA DEBRIS FREE SO WHEN HE CLEANED UP AT THE END OF THE DAY WE WERE ABLE TO CONTINUE TO USE OUR HOUSE. THERE WAS THE USUAL AMOUNT OF MATERIALS and TOOLS NEEDED BUT WE WERE NOT AS INCONVENIENCED AS I WAS THINKING IT TO BE. THE BEST PART WAS HOW HE WAS ABLE TO KEEP THE LINE SO PERFECTLY STRAIGHT WHERE THE HALL, ENTRANCE and DININGROOM MET. I AM VERY IMPRESSED!

I SPENT A MONTH IN MY GARAGE SANDING, CONDITIONING, STAINING and VARNISHING MY NEW INTERIOR DOORS. AFTER SEEING TCF CARPENTRY WORK WHEN THEY INSTALLED MY WINDOWS I CALLED TOM TO INSTALL THE DOORS. IT TOOK HIM ONE DAY TO INSTALL THEM. I HAD REMOVED THE EXISTING DOORS and FRAMES SO THE OPENINGS WERE READY. HE MADE IT LOOK SO EASY and EFFORTLESS. THAT IS WHEN I KNEW HE WAS VERY GOOD AT WHAT HE DID. MY 16 YR. OLD SON SAID THAT NIGHT, ''THEY CLOSE LIKE THE HOTEL DOORS WHEN WE WERE ON VACATION.'' TOM COVERED THE FLOORS, PROTECTED THE CARPETS. THERE WAS ONE DOOR FRAME THAT WAS A CHALLENGE TO FIT THE NEW DOOR IN. IF I WAS DOING THE JOB AFTER HALF AN HOUR I WOULD HAVE HUNG A DRAPE. TOM WAS ABLE TO SHIM THE NEW DOOR and FIT IT IN PERFECTLY. THEY LOOK and WORK GREAT!

AFTER SHRINK WRAPPING EIGHT OF THE 10 WINDOWS DURING WINTER WE KNEW IT WAS TIME. THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME WE USED TCF CARPENTRY. TOM WAS ON TIME, ON SCHEDULE AND RIGHT ON WITH THE WINDOW MEASUREMENTS. OUR HOUSE DOES NOT HAVE STANDARD OPENINGS. I DID NOT WANT ALL FRAME AND LITTLE GLASS. TOM FOUND THE PERFECT FRAMES TO GLASS. HE DID NOT DAMAGE ANY LANDSCAPING. HE CLEANED UP OUTSIDE and INSIDE AFTER EVERY WINDOW. WE WERE NOT HOME FOR ONE WEEK DURING THE INSTALLATION. I GAVE HIM A HOUSE KEY SO HE COULD FINISH. UPON OUR RETURN THE ROOMS WERE VACUUMED AND THE ROOMS WERE READY TO USE! AFTER SEEING HIS WORK ETHIC WE HIRED HIM AGAIN FOR THREE OTHER REMODELING PROJECTS.

TOM DID A GOOD JOB ON THE ATTIC INSULATION. USED HIGH QUALITY MATERIAL AND INSTALLED IT PROFESSIONALLY. REASONABLY PRICED.

THIS WAS THE THIRD TIME I'VE USED TOM FRYE FOR WORK AROUND THE HOUSE. HE, AS ALWAYS, WAS ON TIME, FRIENDLY AND CONSCIENTIOUS. I FIND THAT HIS RATES ARE VERY REASONABLE FOR THE WORK HE DOES.

TOM PERFORMED ADMIRABLY. STARTING WITH THE REMOVAL OF EVERYTHING IN THE OLD BATHROOM, INCLUDING THE OLD DRY WALL (EXCEPT THE CEILING) AND THE FLOORING. MOVED AND REINSTALLED PLUMBING AS NECESSARY. INSTALLED ALL OF THE FIXTURES (TUB, SURROUND, PEDESTAL SINK, TOILET, LIGHTING, POWERED CEILING VENT, TILE FLOORING, FIXTURES, ETC.) THAT WE HAD PURCHASED SEPARATELY. TOM DID ALL FINISH WORK INCLUDING BASEBOARDS, PAINT and STAINING. CAME BACK TO TOUCH UP SOME MINOR DEFICIENCIES THAT WE HAD NOTED, WITHOUT ANY HASSLE OR CHARGE. HIS FEES WERE REASONABLE CONSIDERING THE SCOPE OF WORK HE PERFORMED. WE HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT COMPLEMENTS ON THE BATHROOM, AND WOULD RECOMMEND TOM FRYE WITHOUT HESITATION.
