We always request Daryl because he has cleaned our furnace and air conditioner for probably 20 years! We trust him and he is worthy of our trust. If he tells us we need something, we believe him. There have been times when he tells us we don't need something and we appreciate that. The reason we only spent #17.00 today is because we needed a new humidifier filter. We buy the pre-pay service for our furnace and air-conditioner. AWE always sends us a card and calls to tell us that it is "time" for a scheduled cleaning, and that makes it convenient to keep up with their maintenance. They do not make a mess in your house because they put on booties every time they enter your home and remove them if they have to go back to the truck, and then they put them back on when they return to the house. How nice is that?

Very pleased with the service from A.W.E.! Our furnace quit on a VERY cold morning (of course); and when my husband couldn't fix it, we had to call a professional. We chose A.W.E. in Carol Stream after reading the reviews. My husband called and they said they could send someone out early that afternoon, which they did. After checking the old furnace, he discovered that, in addition to a broken valve, it had a crack in it. I can't remember the technical terms, but it was not safe and we needed a new furnace. After checking out the A/C unit and other things, to determine what type of furnace would work in our home, he made some inquiries as to what was in stock and what the costs would be. Choice made. Order written up. Crew was there late afternoon to begin install. They were still there when I arrived home from work; had tarps laid out over carpet and stairs where they were going in/out, booties for their shoes if they walked in other areas of the house, and were very courteous. They finished up just before 8 p.m., gave us a brief rundown of how the new system and thermostat work, and assured us that if any adjustments need to be made after we have it running for awhile, we need only call. We certainly could have done without the stress and expense of our furnace going kaput on December 30th, but the crew from A.W.E. made the experience as stress-free as possible. KUDOS FOR A JOB WELL DONE!

AWE team was very professional right from the pre-sale estimation to installation and quality. Gary & team suggested the right type of units for my home and helped to get maximum rebates & cash backs. They took care of the village permits and rebate submissions, I didn't have to do anything. The installation crew did a thorough job. They took extra effort and installed the unit perfectly in the cramped space and also installed a customized furnace filter to make it easy for changing. Great company, I would recommend this to anyone.

Top of the class in service and professionalism! My furnace died 3 days before Christmas. I had anticipated it would need to be replaced earlier in the year and sure enough, the time came to take action. The first serviceman came out within a couple of hours and explained my options. Considering the unit was 25 years old and I had this on my to-do list, I opted for complete replacement. At 8AM the next morning the service manager arrived (same man who initially came out to give an estimate early in the year). He wanted to take a look one more time to be sure the unit I chose would fit in the tight space. The night before, he already lined up all the equipment and had servicemen on standby. All systems were go and by 10:30 they were in my driveway. Both men were incredibly professional and courteous. I will recommend AWE to everyone I know. It gives me great comfort to have such a reliable company help me take care of my home needs. Thanks to all at AWE.

Contacted A.W.E. to check and service fifteen year old furnace, as they have done annually for years. Inspection revealed that the unit had reached the end of it's serviceable life. The technician thoroughly explained and showed the parts that would need to be replaced in order to safely get through another heating season. I made the decision to replace it. The A.W.E. representative contacted his office, and I had a detailed quotation for a new Lennox system within 15 minutes, along with a commitment to complete the installation the next day. Installers showed up exactly when promised (actually early). They explained the scope of work in detail, completed all work within the four hour estimated window, provided detailed instructions on operation and maintenance of all components (furnace, thermostat, humidifier), hauled away all excess materials (old unit, old piping, packaging material), and left the house in the same condition as when they arrived. The installers were very thorough and very professional.

In addition to replacing the filter in our furnace, the service technician also informed me that our humidifier was not working. Evidently the humidifier has not been in working order for years but no previous providers had informed us of this.The service provider was both helpful & professional.

I purchased a gas furnace thru Costco. Below is the letter that I wanted to write to Mr. Grimm the owner. The service technician did provide an envelop to mail back to Mr. Grimm, but didn't have the address printed on it so I'm posting it as open letter. Dear Mr. Grimm, I am writing to you to provide some feedback from my experience as a new customer to your company. Recently I installed a new Lennox furnace in my house. I went through Costco for this service. I have to commend you on setting up a through process to ensure high level and consistent service. Big company such as yours can lose the personal touch that owners can provide, but I can appreciate the follow up checks to ensure that quality service is being provided by your employees. I do have couple of points that I would like to bring to your attention. I received 3 estimates from different companies. Your estimate was the highest but salesman did offer bundling service. I was on the fence between your company and another, but few days later, salesman called and said that he would offer $300 discount. I told him that I did not like the WiFi thermostat that was being offered. He offered to install iComfort for $100 upcharge. I thought that was a good value so I asked him to stop by to sign the contract. When the salesman stopped by, and contract was drawn up there were several unexpected changes. Original estimate had 1 year service plan included, however on contract it was changed to 6 month. Salesman said that was a promotional offer and that it was superseded by the $300 special. Estimate had 10 year labor included as part of warranty. However, during contract signing salesman said that I had to sign up your VIP program for it to be valid. If not it was only 1 year warranty on labor. This was not what I had expected. While I wasn?t totally happy with these last minute changes, what upset me the most was change of model number to the contract. The estimate I received was for a 90K BTU unit. However, the signed contract was for a 70K BTU unit. I called the salesman and he stated a mistake was made on the estimate and that he meant 70K BTU. He further explained that size our house only required 40K BTU and 70K BTU was more than adequate. All the estimates I received from other companies were for 85K or higher. I told him that this was not acceptable and return and correct the contract. Salesman did return and rewrote the contract and tore up the incorrect old contract. While the salesman was pleasant, this experience soured my impression of your company a bit. Day before the installation, I didn?t get a call as of 4:30PM or so. I called and confirmed with your office. Within the hour I received a call confirming the appointment for installation. I guess I was on the list to call but they didn?t get to it until 5:00PM or so. I would recommend calling at least 2 days out so people won?t wonder if appointment is still on. The morning of installation, office called to say that the technicians had left the office and they are on their way. The installers showed as scheduled and were very friendly and considerate. They wore the slippers in the house and took care to not to damage the hardwood floor. After the installation was complete, they cleaned up around the area. The older technician took time to explain about the system and how to setup the Wifi thermostat. He gave me a packet (had the form letter with another customer?s name) and said that they would appreciate a review on Angie?s List and my experience back to you. He further explained that an inspector would be by later to inspect their work. I really appreciated this process to ensure that everything was done properly. Technician called the office and setup an appointment for the inspection. Overall the technicians were very professional. At scheduled time, the inspector showed and gave a nice travel mug. I appreciated the quality gift. I showed the inspector to the basement. I turned on couple of overhead lights. He looked at the unit and gave a cursory glance and said that the installation was done well. I pointed out the dime sized hole on the corner right above the furnace. He asked if I signed up for the service program. I told him that I was, to which he said that he would note that for the next service call. I asked him so I should go entire winter with this hole? He thought about a minute and said that he would send someone back to caulk the hole. He then went outside and inspected the air conditioning unit. I had bit more expectation for the inspection. He didn?t even take out a flashlight to look over the unit. I had to point out about the hole and he wanted to wait until next service call. I wasn?t too impressed with this quality of inspection. The same technician who installed the furnace came out and caulked over the hole. I am not an expert but the caulk job seems to be bit messy. Overall, I appreciated the thoughtfulness of the whole process and your attempts to control the quality and subsequent checks to uphold the quality. As I noted from my experience, although the procedures were followed, there needs to be a bit more scrutiny to ensure that quality is maintained.

Our a/c unit suddenly quit on us a year ago May, 2014. I had gotten quotes from a few companies. I chose AWE because they were willing to go the extra mile. The west side of my house gets extremely hot in the summer, mainly due to the fact that the sun is beating down on that side for hours. Those rooms would be 10 degrees warmer than the rest of the house. That said, I ran some calculations on what size a/c unit I would need (I have a background in heating and air, I'm just too disabled to do it myself) & I found that our current unit was undersized. I wanted to make sure that the house would cool properly so I wanted a unit 2 sizes bigger than what we had. Our sales rep, Ben (sadly, no longer with company) talked me out of it. Ben reminded me that if I go with that large of a unit, there could be condensation issues and possible short-cycling (compressor kicks on for a few minutes and then off-bad for compressor, plus the possibility of excess condensation on walls = possible mild growth). After thinking about it overnight, I came up with the idea to add another register to each room. Ben agreed it was an excellent idea and it has worked wonderfully. We needed our unit fast, we had a b day party scheduled for our 2 boys. AWE moved a couple of jobs around to make sure we had a/c in time for that party! They then came back, when it slowed down, to install the furnace and do the duct cleaning. Every aspect in dealing with this company has been AWEsome, from sales, to install, to service, everybody has been great. Even when I mentioned some cold air leaking from around the humidifier, they sent someone out IMMEDIATELY to address the problem. They obviously take exceptional pride in their work. Too bad all contractors do not do the same nowadays. I recently had a bad experience with another contractor. It's too bad that all contractors aren't as honest, honorable, and simply a pleasure to do business with as this company. I give them an A+++!!!!

Communication with A.W.E. is always timely and personal. We're a longtime customer, and purchase a multi-year maintenance contract that saves us money and makes it a no-brainer to do scheduling. They remind me when maintenance services are due and then keep me updated on the arrival time of service provider. Today they did regular maintenance of my air conditioning equipment, and they do the same for heating system. We have also purchased equipment from this company and have not been disappointed. Employees are courteous and careful. They are not the cheapest but cost is not the only factor in choosing a provider! Cost-of-service shown here is for parts installed today, not the cost of the multi-year maintenance contract.

AWE (Air, Water, Energy) did a great job. The installers arrived on schedule and worked all day to removed the old equipment and installed the new equipment. When they were finished, everything looked great and the work area was completely cleaned up. The air conditioner has worked great all summer and kept our house at a comfortable temperature. I am looking forward to a similar experience with the new furnace, also. After the system was installed, AWE sent an inspector to our house to make sure the job was completed satisfactorily (which it was) and take pictures of the equipment to make sure it was installed correctly (which it was). FYI, we have been a customer of AWE for over twenty years because of the great service they have always provided. This was the 2nd furnace and air conditioner we have purchased from them. They also installed our current water heater. The technicians are always very knowledgeable and friendly. They always arrive when they say they will arrive, and do what they promise. The services provided have always met or exceeding our expectations. I would recommend AWE to everyone.

Mario is a wonderful tech who works with A.W.E. who went into detail about purchasing a device that eases the pressure on the condensor for the start up process on the A/C. And that was last Year! You can sense when the information given is concise and precise enough to make a decision and his demeanor was professional. No pressure or bad sale tactics, just an honest opinion to assist in maintaing the A/C. A wonderful company to work with that maintains thier standards year after year. You can rely on honest work from them

I signed up for the AWE Carefree furnace and air conditioning cleaning/inspection package and so far it has been well worth the cost. I get a reminder when it is time to come and service the furnace and central air unit. I call the operator and with no fuss and no muss I can get an appointment quickly. So far the service men have been clean, polite and thorough explaining what if any service has to be done. They do not provide the filters as part of the service though they do change the filter (though they can provide a filter for extra cost). They were happy to provide the part number for the filter which I was able to purchase for quite a discount online. I'm happy to recommend this service.

I called AWE up for an appointment for an evaluation of my air conditioning needs. Their representative arrived on time and expertly evaluated what would work best with my existing furnace. AWE recommended i install a Daikin 16 Seer. The representative also suggested improvements on the placement of my humidifier system which was done when the air conditioner was installed. The installation was completed on schedule the following week and it took about 4-5 hours to complete. I am completely satisfied on how well the air conditioner is cooling all floors of our home. I highly recommend AWE for their air-conditioning and heating services. We have been a very satisfied customer of theirs for over 30 years.
Description of Work: AWE replaced my 10 year old air conditioner with a new energy-efficient Daikin air conditioner.

AWE came out to give me an estimate. After scouring the HVAC forums, most pros say the first thing any reputable contractor will do is perform a Manual J to determine the proper size equipment to install. Unfortunately after getting 5 estimates, I quickly found out that pretty much nobody around here takes the time to do this. The real problem is that I have an 1,833 sq ft townhome with vaulted ceilings in part of the living room and master bedroom. When I received my quote, the equipment listed was a 2-ton air conditioner. When I researched the size needed for my location and square footage, the recommended size was 3 ton. All other estimates were at least 2.5 ton, so based on this alone, I was forced to disregard this company entirely. Also, company did not call back to ask if I had any questions regarding the estimate. Update 7/2/2015: What a joke, company response saying they reached out to me on four different occasions. What a load of crock. Your company made a mistake, now live with it and don't lie!!!

Our goal is to leave every client we meet satisfied whether they choose us for their project or not and it seems we fell a little short on this instance. However, after completing our testing on this client's home, we determined a 2 ton system would be sufficient as their return duct would not be able to handle anything larger than that. If the client went with a bigger system, they would be paying for performance that couldn’t be delivered and we wanted to be upfront and honest so as to not overcharge him. We did reach out to this client on 5/21, 5/23, 5/27, and 6/2 with no response. Our assumption was that he had chosen a different company for his project and the last thing we want to do is waste his time with unnecessary communication. We understand that it is impossible to please everyone all of the time but we will continue to strive towards that goal. After some confusion regarding my appointment Craig met me at my home. He spent quite a bit of time with me and explained in great detail my different options. While their service was great I chose another provider based on price and family referrals. AWE has top of the line products and services and highly recommend them based on the level of treatment I received.

A.W.E. did an excellent job explaining why the product was a good one. We had received quotes from other companies and they were quick to explain what they do that's different from other companies. We liked the product and the company and when they came to install, they were professional, efficient, and prompt. We are very pleased with the new furnace and air conditioner. They were not the least expensive option we explored but we felt their experience and their product knowledge was deeper than other companies we contacted.
Description of Work: Took out our 25 year old furnace and air conditioner and replace them with Diakin products.

First, they were very prompt in answering my request for a quote. They gave be a couple options, and explained both well. They were not the highest price, but not the lowest either. I have been using them for service work, so i knew them to be reliable. They have been in business a long time. So, when they say a 5 year warranty you are pretty sure they will be there. Anyone can give a long warranty, but what is the use if they are gone in a year? I was having some new concrete poured, so they worked around my schedule. Prompt, very good workmanship. Cleaned up everything, did not leave any boxes or junk for me to remove. Good work.
