It went very well. We didn't know why our furnace didn't work, so Adam arrived and ran diagnostics while keeping me informed of exactly what he was doing and why. When he determined that the furnace was fine, he showed me the thermostats that he had available and then installed the one that I chose. His company also provides a furnace upkeep program that does bi-annual cleaning and diagnostics of the furnace and air conditioning units. Since he clearly knew what he was doing, we decided to sign up for their program. The approximate price below includes the cost of 1) an emergency, overtime service call 2) the replacement of the thermostat 3) the annual service program for 2 furnaces.

We are still in the process of working with the client as we have a part on order for them. We were unaware that the client was upset and we take this very seriously but we haven't finished the work because there is a gas valve on order. However, we will certainly look into the issue of the $35 charge for no invoice as that is not our policy. We see that there was s $49 charge on the invoice. There will be a labor charge as we did not do the installation but parts will be covered. As soon as the part comes in then we will be happy to install. However, we do have to go thought the warranty process in order to get the part. ******UPDATE******* Our manager called this client today and was advised that she had called another company to take care of the issue. When she was asked why she didn't call us to advise how upset she was, the client advised that she didn't have time to do so. Our manage politely questioned why she didn't have time to call us but had time to review us and call another company to come out. Our manager got hung up on. We always want to ensure that every client is happy but we can't do so unless the client gives us the opportunity to rectify situatios. We are sorry that this happened but we were not given the chance.

Not so good.. 'Installer' assumed that gentleman who he spoke with over the phone was my landlord when he was told that his pricing was way over the top. My brother, an engineer, is out of state & wanted to make sure I wasn't being taken advantage of. ALL the other service providers on Angies List gave a range of $700-925...which I still think is a lot; but no-one was available. I'm very happy with the company I chose.
Description of Work: Needed a hot water heater replacement. Fees were literally twice as much as ALL the service providers I contacted. They were very prompt, would NOT give a general pricing over the phone..the office secretary said they didn't have one (really?). So, I paid the $49 fee for them to come out. Guy was seriously pissed off that we said he was too expensive.

Thank you very much for your feedback. This was for a plumbing call 10/29/16. Our pricing is a flat rate price so everything is included in that cost. We do not charge hourly for the installation and that helps with no hidden surprises to our clients. We have researched your 40 gallon water heater and all of our competitors have come back in the same range. There was an added cost on there for a plumbing upgrade of $200.00 which was for additional piping. With warranties and install and the cost of the water heater, the $1300.00 quoted was very comparable to other companies in the area. We will always do a quality installation and be available for any emergencies 24/7. We have been in business for over 30 years and we remain very competitive in the industry. Description of Work: We used AWE for many years for yearly maintenance on our heating/AC systems. They always did a great job for us and provided us with excellent service. However, the time came to replace our systems and their replacement price was twice the amount of the company we ultimately hired. The company we hired does our maintenance now and they do a nice job, although they aren't nearly as organized as AWE.

They are competitive. They are very good. Fair price, good quality. One of the things I liked from long ago a unit it was getting older and the man that came to service it said you know you need to be planning on it cause you probably need to replace it but it's still working and so he lets us know we need to do it in the future but he didn't try to get us to buy something new right then and I think it was probably at least another year before we had to replace the unit.
Description of Work: I use AWE Air Water Energy for heating and A/c services. They did the summer check on my air conditioning. They came in and they change the pads on fan unit and be sure everything is working well and they always clean up from where they have been. And if there is anything they need to report they always do. I've been using this service for probably at least 20 years.

It didn't happen. The electrician told me the fans we bought didn't have expandable brackets and that it would be involved to install them. He told me we needed to buy the right kind of fan. He acted as though he didn't want to do the job. I ended up paying him $50 for the time he was at the house and he left. I never called back to reschedule because I wasn't happy with what transpired. I have a different company here now, (8/15/16) installing the fans we originally bought plus two ceiling fans. They are getting the job done.

Tech was here for 40 minutes to install an outdoor hvac disconnect that I provided. I was charged $264 for labor plus $89 service call. When I spoke to Ken the service manager to inquire about their hourly labor rate he was less than sympathetic. I pointed out that my labor bill reflected a rate of over $300 an hour and I was not happy. He responded with " I am not going to justify our rates and there will be no adjustment to your bill." AWE will not be bidding on my new furnace and AC replacement, nor any other future work for me.

Thank you for your feedback and we are certainly sorry about your frustration. However, in looking at your invoice we see that you were charged the $89 for our technician to arrive at your home. That is not part of the repair and doesn't get waived unless you are an MVP client of ours. This was our first time out to your home. Once you take out the $89 for us to show up to your home, the total came out to what we believe is a very fair price. That was for installing a part that was supplied by you. Our pricing is given up front BEFORE we start any of the work. Therefore, we believe that it should have been declined when our technician brought it to you at the time of service. We are certainly not here to be a financial burden on you. We are VERY honest and up front with ALL of our clients, hence our flat rate pricing that we use. Flat rate entitles our clients to know exactly what we are doing upfront...no hidden fees. As for our Service Manager speaking to you in that manner, we will take that up with him. We haven't gotten a complaint about his attitude in the 10 years that he has been working with our clients. However, it may have been the heated situation and lack of communication. Again, we are very sorry that you feel the way that you do. This is why we are so honest and upfront with our client before the work is done. If our clients feel that it is unfair, then it is up to the client to decline the service at that time, which gives you the opportunity to find someone else that may meet your financial needs. You chose the best when it came to your in home comfort needs, we can assure you of that. We stand behind our products and our service, 100%. We will always be competitive in the industry yet VERY honest and loyal to our clients. Here, we care! It is VERY personal to us. Thank you, again, for your feedback. Jim came out and fixed all my issues in about 40 min. I asked if he was an employee or an outside contractor and he's an employee which is really good to know. Jim was very professional and knowledgeable. I will use AWE again and probably replace my AC & Heating within a year or so.

It went alright. They came up, they showed up on time. He was quite professional. But I was quite surprised by the cost. I didn't expect it to be so expensive. I disclosed that I had Angie's discount coupon. He tried to make it up by charging more. It was just a water spout that had to be replaced. It was a little expensive, but otherwise, he did a good job and he was professional. I would have expected him to disclose the cost of repair before he started the work. He did not let me know. That was the only disappointment I had. He did not tell me anything about the cost until after the work was done and when it came to wrap up his work. The quality was good. I was satisfied with the quality. He was very cordial He was a very nice guy. I'm not sure if it was just the training or what it was. He was a really nice guy.

It went well. In addition to the cost of the normal inspection, a compressor saver was installed. I believe this was something that has become available which enables the compressor to not work as hard and should result in a longer life for the unit. Inspection plans vary in cost according to in or out of season and how many inspections are included.
Description of Work: AWE performs an inspection of the furnace or air conditioner; I chose the off-season inspection which is cheaper. They come out and check the functioning of the unit - in this case [in Oct.] it was the air conditioner. They check the functioning of critical parts, current usage [which might reveal wear], temperature difference supply/return air. They examine filters to see if they are clogged, and wash down the outside part of the a/c. If you need filters, you have the option to buy from them or get them yourself. When it's inspection time, you get an email reminder, then can call for a date. They also call the day before to remind you, then the day of the inspection the office calls that the service person is on their way. They wear "booties" over their shoes so as to not track dirt in your house. The entire inspection usually takes about an hour.

Tom, the heating and A/C service manager, and Kristi, the vice president, helped with our installation from beginning to end. Tom was incredibly wonderful with communication, explaining every detail patiently, and always trying to give me a heads up if anything was a little different than planned. I had called A.W.E. to help with our steam boiler system. Another company (Four Seasons) had installed a new steam boiler in our house, and the boiler had caused corroded steam pipes in the basement to burst, resulting in extensive damage to the house. My first thought had been to repair or replace the boiler and to fix the corroded pipe. However, Tom and Kristi explained quite patiently to me that because of the age of our house and the fact that multiple visible steam pipes were extensively corroded, it was not a wise idea to have a new steam boiler in our home. They explained that any new steam boiler is stronger than an old steam boiler (ours was at least over 20 years old), which most likely had been winding down for some time. They explained that when the new steam boiler pushes hot steam through the system, corroded pipes are likely to rupture. They also explained that many of these pipes are inaccessible behind walls, and if there is extensive corrosion on visible pipes, there is almost certainly corrosion on the inaccessible ones. Finally, when the necessary chemical flushes are done to clear the system of mud and debris, these chemicals can actually remove the debris that was patching holes in corroded pipes and thus facilitate bursting of pipes. We are obviously not experts in the field, but all of this made a lot of sense. It would have been easier for them to try to fix the boiler and the ruptured pipes, charge us money, and then throw their hands up in the air denying responsibility when things continued to go wrong. Instead, they turned down the job and its money because they felt repairing or replacing a steam boiler in this situation was very unwise for us. After a lot of thought, we asked A.W.E. what they would recommend, and they suggested that we try to figure out a way to install forced air heating and A/C in our house. Tom spent hours at our house, and likely hours in planning on his own I'm sure, figuring out how to make things work. He ended up using vents we already had for our existing A/C system, modifying them to make them better, and installed two separate furnace and A/C units on the first floor. Because we had never had a forced air heating system before, the spaces where the units had to fit were tight, but they made everything work. Our son was also a baby at the time, and the crew tried their best to do quieter work when the baby was napping. They also tried to be considerate with cleanliness during the project, as we had four children running/crawling barefoot around. I have been so cautious with praising them given a past terrible experience with the other heating and A/C service. I have not posted for several months, just in case things fell apart. But, it has been 3 months, and things have not fallen apart. We have very good heating and A/C on our first floor. We have fairly consistent temperatures; I would say that there is surprisingly little temperature variation between the rooms now, considering how old and drafty our home is. The Nest thermostats work well. The service technicians seem to adapt to my type-A personality and my many questions, and do their best with timeliness and cleanliness. For the most part, the techs always are polite to me, even at those times in the past when I was upset. I am sure A.W.E. is not perfect, as no company is perfect. But, it seems to be me that they are more honest and have more integrity, and try harder to do right by their customers, than any other heating and A/C company that I have ever encountered. I really hope that they stay true to themselves and continue to do the best they can, as they surely truly did with us. We are so thankful for them and to them.

We called the company for service on the old furnace and AC unit. The unit was old and we knew we would have to replace sooner rather than later. The technician that came was professional, explained fully what was happening with our unit. When we asked question s about a new one, he gave us facts and prices without any pressure The work was scheduled quickly. The technicians came and worked all day to make sure that the unit was installed correctly and that we knew how to operate everything. There was even a follow up call to make sure that we were satisfied.
