I ordered my windrows just for my second floor. The contract says 8-10 for install. I waited 16 weeks and cancelled my order. No one ever contacted me as to why they were so delayed. Their customer service is terrible.

The window itself is very nice but the finishing on the wall over the window doesn’t look nice. It looks like they used half an inch dry wall for the window. The drywall looks thicker than the rest of the room. The people came in and got it done in one day. The window lightens up the room. They just do windows where structures aren’t required now. As far as the windows and workmanship is concerned, I was very happy with them. They weren’t the cheapest but were worth the price.
Description of Work: We used WindowWorks/HomeWerks to install the window.

The appointment was scheduled for 10:00 AM and the 2 guys arrived at 8:00 AM. This was fine with me since I would be home waiting for them anyways. The 2 guys were nice and war clean considering the weather conditions that day. It was snowing outside (on May 16th) and it was a rather messy day. They replaced the doors and even kept the carpet clean in our master bedroom during install(it is a very light color and no stains when they left) The doors were replaced in about 5 hours. I signed for the doors and provided my credit card information for payment. Overall a great experience and I would recommend them to anyone who asked. There is a big difference in outdoor noise compared to the old doors. When you close these doors, the outside is no longer heard inside. I hope for a big difference in this years heating bill! Thank you Window Works for a good job on replacement patio doors!

How did it go? Well, the management, namely, Brian Stockhoff and Denise Hartley, were easy to talk. The installers of the windows and siding were polite. Problem? The installation went well and all was great in March 2013 . . . but in our enjoyment of the new windows and siding we watched the siding in the northwest exposure of the house, (the front, of course) to start warping or rippling. It was worse everyday beginning in May when the weather got warmer. I spoke with Brian and he had an installer come to replace the rippling pieces in June. All went well and it looked good until the weather got hot . . . July/Aug. Again, an installer came out when the weather got cooler, in November. After talking with Denise to replace panels, this second time, it demanded a warranty claim form to fill out and take photos for the manufacturer, Exterior Portfolio. The representative, Mr. Potts, came out and assessed that it needed fixing and ordered more siding, no charge due to defect. The installation went fine and we went through the 2013 winter with no rippling changes. May 2014 it started rippling again. Mind you, each re-installation of the new siding rippled differently each time. I called Denise in early June to have it looked at again, refreshing her memory of this drawn out problem that needs correction for good. I told her the names of the installers and she did not recall one of them??? She told me that a new installer with 25-30 years experience was hired recently and will be in the area Monday. The new hire installer, Rick, came out and assessed that the problem may be that not enough nails spaced 16 inches apart from each other giving room for expansion/contraction. When he took off the rippled piece of siding I saw that there were some nails at each end of the piece and NONE in the middle where the rippling appeared. He corrected the problem and installed the panels of siding I had saved in my garage from re-installation #2. Okay, he was nice and it made sense that there was a nail and spacing problem . . . but he could not say that it may happen again. Due to the flexibility of vinyl siding and sensitivity to heat and light . . . it could ripple again. The color of the windows are dark brown the siding is nutmeg and the roof is dark/medium brown. Due to the dark colors the heat can reflect onto the siding causing this rippling. I guess. I have had to work with WindowWorks/HomeWerks every 4-5 months where my house has been re-sided 3 times. I don't want to have this problem over and over and over. It is bad workmanship by the manufacturer. Why do they manufacture dark colors and not know that heat and light will cause warpage? They should sell the dark colors only to people living on another planet unaffected by heat and light! It has been very frustrating, and I hope the re-siding #3 was properly installed so the rippling in the siding stops. I'm a wishful thinker and give it the benefit of the doubt. If it does correct itself due to the proper installation than Yeah! for the installer with 25-30 years experience that corrected the problem honestly and professionally! If it does not correct itself . . . I will have to take on a very serious issue with the WindowWorks/HomeWerks and the siding company. They will have to reside my house with a lighter color??? Or how about using a different siding supplier??? There is something wrong with that picture . . . but what else do we do, sue? Oh, the windows are great!
Description of Work: We needed new windows on our 35 year old home and found WindowWorks. The salesman was quite informative about the windows. We decided that with the windows we'd have the house re-sided too. It was a package deal. The salesman didn't talk about the quality of vinyl siding that he sold us as much as the quality windows. (key point in our story). The deal was done in October 2012 with our first down payment. The job did not begin until March 2013 due to choosing the type of window required by village code and waiting for decent weather to install the windows and siding.

The manager wound up doing the estimate. They don't do any "rough" estimates. He asked us if we were sure we wanted an estimate. When we said yes, he had to launch into about an hour-long presentation that resulted in the ultimate hard sell - "now or never". The sturdiness of the windows (which they manufacture themselves looked good, but the window being replaced required more "architectural substance" than the standard side window. Although we did sign the contract (now or never!), we subsequently drove to the southwest suburbs of Chicago (from Glenview ) to cancel the contract. We felt they just looked too cheap for this situation - and I was very uncomfortable with the pressure. We might possibly consider them again should we need side or back standard windows -- AND if they could lighten up on the HARD SELL!! .
Description of Work: Gave us an estimate for replacing a VERY large front picture window. They had nothing large enough -- it was going to have to be replaced by 3 smaller windows.

the windows are white ,they were supposed to be tan as all other windows in my house are tan,,,so they put white basement windows that stick out like a sore thumb ,especially when its a corner house, then the white capping really was terrible, after complaining they redid the capping to tan but still left white windows in place ,so that said i would not even think twice about ever using them again not to mention there price versus 3 other competetors,,i went with them cause the salesman really believed in them,,, great salesman poor handling of job

I would give them a five in one through ten. The workmanship was good but the order was screwed up. It was the wrong color. The door was the wrong. The install they had to repair it and then it repaired it here at home rather than give me a new door. They gave me a door without a window and screen. It was just a solid window. And they had to take that window with the window screen instead of getting a new one from the factory. Then the color of the door didn't match the color of the patio door. When they had to replace it, it had to be while, so I got beige with white on the outside. It looks real bad. It doesn't look good. They were concerned with calls but it went in one ear and out the other. You got your door lady.

What was presented at the home was not delivered. I have talked to them on many occasions, still haven't replaced a screen that they were supposed to over a year ago. They showed me a design where I could hang blinds inside the window frame and what was delivered was not that way. They have complaints on the BBB. Be very specific, take a picture of what they are presenting and when they come to deliver make sure it's the same as what was presented.

It is good we had the windows changed because when the freezing weather came it was just nice. The people, the workers were nice and skillful. When I had them come back to fix something they came back right away. Their windows are a little pricey but I think that they are of really good quality. There is no draft inside the house and even when it is freezing outside, it only changes a degree or two inside. They really seal the weather off.

Everything was good. The guy who came explained everything, was extremely knowledgeable, he wasn't pushy at all. When I first had them come out, I actually postponed it until the end of May and they were fine with that. The guys who came out installed it and did a perfect job and they didn't leave until the door works smoothly. They were clean, picked up and vacuumed everything. I would definitely use them again. They were less and the quality was just so good.

At the beginning during the sales it was fine they did some recommendations with "less expensive options", based on what the designer recommended I originally had 2 small bay windows and he recommended the 3 sliders LOOKS TERRIBLE, I spoke with the sales manager and pretty much said yes i agreed to the 3 sliders the designers needs to be more educated with actual appearance and design, since there is no eye appeal in this project, the other 2 windows look good since there was not change I just upgraded. The service was 2 months behind in the installation, after I had to reach out to them for the timeline. The windows are OK nothing special, I replaced the previous ones to help with the draftiness and to get more of an updated look, well the interior look is fine the draftiness is about the same. Definitely, have them do the work during the daylight hours otherwise you cannot inspect their work and point out the shortcomings and mess clean up. If you have time to babysit I recommend this firm, if you have your own creative vision I recommend this firm. If not stay away.

They did the work at my mother in laws place, but they gave me an Angie's List discount. They were very good. They pulled the old one out, and put the new on in just 45 minutes. We were very pleased with what they did. The interaction with them was very good. We were the second visit, so we had to wait for an hour, but that okay, because you can't predict. I am not sure why we went with them, I think I was motivated because I saw an ad on Angie's List which said from one window to twenty, and we just wanted one window.
Description of Work: I used WindowWorks/HomeWerks Inc. We had discovered a hole in the basement, which she never goes down there anymore, and we had discovered it because comcast came and asked us to go underneath. There was a perfect window cut out in the basement, and there was a lot of draft coming in, so I filled up the window and we called them. They came out and they were willing to give me a discount on having just the one window replaced.

Excellent! Workers were on time and windows were put in in a fast and efficient manner. The workers did a wonderful job of cleaning up after themselves--nothing was disturbed when they were finished. I'm very happy with the windows--the craftmanship looks superb! And I'm very happy everything about the job. I was kept notified of the progress of the order from the time I ordered until the job was done, which I really appreciated.

The appointment was scheduled for 9am and the salesperson was 15 minutes late. I did not know it at the time, but at 9:01am, I missed call that the salesperson was going to be about 10 minutes late. When the salesperson arrived, I informed him that the appointment was for 9am and I had a very busy day. I told the salesperson I only had 25 minutes to hear about his product. In my opinion, this is more than enough time to give me a estimate along with a brief presentation about the company. I know from past experience that before the product is fabricated, someone would visit to do final measurements. After the salesperson expressed disappointment not getting an hour of my time, he began to un-pack his material. At that time, I explained what my HOA required before the work could be performed and what kind of windows I was looking for. When I was asked if quality or price was most important to me, I explained that I was not looking to install top of the line windows but I wanted something of quality that was affordable. The salesperson then packed up his material and left after telling me he does not install cheap windows. I received a call shorty after the salesperson left reminding me that they called saying they were going to be late. As I stated before, at the time, I was unaware of the missed call. The representative reiterated that they make high quality windows and offered to give me 15% off my purchase and would send a supervisor to my house for an estimate. To add insult to injury, the company no showed for their first appointment. WindowWorks, if you are reading this, understand the following: You are coming into my HOME on my TIME. There is no excuse for being late!. If I tell you that you have twenty minutes, it is because I don't want to spend my Saturday listening to a sales presentation. Make me want to learn more about your product! I don't want to learn about the history of windows. I want a window that I can see out of and opens. YOUR ENTIRE STAFF IS RUDE AND UNPROFESSIONAL! You are not the only window company in business.

My issues with this company are many, but more so is their attitude regarding the issues of the installation of six windows they installed in May 2013. Kathy is the person I have spoken to repeatedly about getting service to remedy our leaky windows that now show evidence of mold. A service person came out in December, and handed me a sheet of paper with information about condensation. He explained that "the water leak was just condensation." I explained that the rest of the windows did not have the same problem. I requested at the time of his visit that I would like the salesperson who sold us the windows to bring in the device that proves how their windows are energy efficient, they never followed through with my request. Window Works installers are not professional. I believe their install assignments are out sourced to independent handymen looking for work. i had many issues back in May when they installed our windows.Yes, I did let Window Works know immediately and they had to re-assign different installers because the first crew was letting themselves in my home, using my refrigerator without permission. Very un-professional in many ways. Upon installing the windows all windows were left with many gaps that were filled in with can liquid foam sealing. Needless to say that was not acceptable and I also informed the company about that issue too. They did nothing about it. I have pictures and video as proof of the issues aforementioned. I am telling you about this incident so no one else has to go through what we are going through.

So disappointed. Called them looking for a new patio door off my kitchen. Got a appt for next day gentleman was right on time and very pleasant. Find out they sent a window guy for the door and he had no catalogs. Lucky I knew what I wanted which I supplied to him...no problem. He called supervisors twice and talked to them on if they could do this or that...all good. Sine he was here I showed him a couple windows at the same time that we would like to replace...fantastic. He knows exactly what I want and tells me he will email me a quote and call me if he had any questions. That was the last time I saw or heard from him. Funny thing is customer service called me day after to confirm I was happy with appt, did he leave a card...NO. We will make sure he contacts you ASAP. Go forward 2 1/2 weeks I get another call "what did I decide to do with my project?" Give it to someone else because you didn't want it! All for the best though I'm glad they put there best foot forward at the start not after I ordered the door.
