So the guy comes out to my house to give me estimates on replacement windows. All went well with the demo. He then tells me he is going to give me an estimate right there on the spot - and quotes $17,000 is list. Each time he gave me a price he would stare at me looking for a reaction. I didn't say anything - and he just continued to lower the price with various discounts. He gets down to $11,200 - with a Feb discount - a military discount - a cash payment discount - and finally a one time discount. It was like a flea market for windows. He continued to ask what it would take for me to sign the papers that night - and I told him over and over that I was not signing anything - that I had a few other estimates to get before I make a decision. After 2 1/2 hours of this non sense I had finally had enough of his questions about why I would not sign and told him to shut his mouth and get out of my house. Strangest experience I have ever had - and would never recommend this place. Seems like a very strange company. BEWARE.
Description of Work: This place is a joke. It's like buying a used car from a sleazy salesman.

The tech came and measured the windows in my basement. We had a discussion on what was possible. The tech presented our options and gave me an estimate. He then asked if I wanted to call my husband. I told him no and we talked a little bit more. Then he wanted to leave because my husband wasn't there. I told him I make the decisions. I felt very insulted. He told me to speak to the office. I called them and they sent his supervisor supposedly to make it up to me. He came out on a Saturday. My husband was not happy. He stayed until the tech arrived and spoke with him telling him he was not happy with the way I had been treated and that I was perfectly capable of making a decision. This tech told me the other guy was nicer than him. He asked me what the price I received. He told me the notes for the quotes were $1,000 per window. This sounded a like a preset price. That wasn't what I was quoted. i was first quoted something along the lines of $10,000. I told him that was way out of budget. This was not the only estimate I had received. The first tech talked to me about different kinds of windows. He then quoted roughly $6,000 before he left abruptly. There was no paperwork despite the fact I had asked him to leave the estimate. the second tech then quoted $14,000. I told him I thought he was coming to make this right but he refused to go any lower on the price. wouldn't discuss anything with us. left abruptly as well. made it a big deal that he was on Angie's list. the techs were contradicting each other and it was very frustrating. Somebody called from the office blaming me because my husband needs to be there and told me my husband had to be there but this was not the case. They also advertise they give restaurant gift cards for estimates and I have not received those. Both techs were late for our appointments.

Daniel was extremely profession, personable and all in all great to work with. He explained all the in's and out's of their window compared to others. I never felt like I was being pressured into purchasing from him. The installers were on time, very professional and worked quickly. They had the whole house done in one day (including one picture window with two casements on both sides and 8 double-hungs. The windows the I chose were the middle of the road since I didn't want to put a lot of money in to the house and I'm extremely satisfied with them especially with the winter weather. Great company to work with!

DO NOT CALL THIS COMPANY. On October 10, 2014 we had an appointment with Bill Porayka. Good sales job. Not one thing that was promised came true. Windows to be installed supposedly in 4 to 10 weeks. I called after a month and was told that production had stopped but our windows would be installed on time. I just had a bad feeling. Did not hear from them again until I called on December 23, 2014 to cancel the order. Was told by Leann that the windows were "in production" and I could not cancel even though the installation was supposed to be completed by December 23, 2014. What does "in production mean"? More Lies. Then I was told by Leann that a Supervisior was required to visit our home to fill out a refund form. That was to be on December 27, 2014 at 4:30pm. Guess what? NO ONE SHOWED UP OR CALLED TO CANCEL. On December 29, 2014 I called and talked to a very nice person Bernadette. She told me that the assistant to the owner (Ron Varek) would be calling me. Not holding my breath. This is a company that is all SALES and no DELIVERY. Can not say one good thing about this company. Stay tuned.

Sales presentation was obnoxious, but the price seemed reasonable considering they were touting a product that should equal Anderson or Pella. Installation went okay - a year later the casement windows in the front of the house do not close very easily. Otherwise the windows are not quite as noise resistant as I had expected based upon the sales presentation, and I wonder if these windows actually meet the quality level based on what we had seen in that ridiculous sales presentation (particularly the insulation they claimed). After calling us 6 months later about a 50% off deal for doors, we then had to sit through another, more obnoxious, hard sell presentation, where the sales person seemed unaware that he was here because they offered us a 50% deal. He made us walk through an entire door catalog (price a mystery, of course) only to quote us an absurd price at the end. We did not accept, he lowered the price to what they had told us over the phone, but at that point we were turned off on the entire process. Since then, we received another call offering a better deal than what they had given us. I take from that a couple of things. #1) if you use them, do not accept the initial offer, ever. #2) I question the quality of the product if it requires used car salesman tactics to sell.

The representative arrived 40 minutes late, which was fine, but I was told the process would take 1 hour to 1 1/2 hours and the guy finally had to be forced out of my home after over 2 hours. The sales pitch for these windows were long and extensive and I eventually stopped caring. When we asked the guy how much the 7 windows we needed were he would not provide us an answer. He gave us a quote of 24,000 for all 14 windows but then the 7 windows we wanted was 5,000. I didn't understand how the price was so different. We told the representative we would think about it because we had other estimates coming and were told the prices would go up if we didn't agree to the prices today. The guy actually told us we don't need other estimates! He was asked to leave the house after over two hours and, after a verbal argument with the guy, he finally left! He also told us they use their own professionally bonded installers and I learned they contracted out.

I am a little dissatisfied with them. The whole reason for me replacing my windows was because I had moisture inside, and I still have moisture inside. I called them, and they asked if I had my dryer going, and my cooking, and so I will have moisture. I spoke to somebody, and they said they would send somebody out but they did not. I have 2 bay windows to replace, but I will not use them. They were very nice, they showed up, they worked non-stop and very hard. I just want an explanation as to why this is happening. If I knew what to do, then I would go and buy a dehumidifier, but I would like to know if they were installed badly. They did a good job, but I cannot judge the quality of the window, because I don't know if it is a window problem or something in the house. The guys that came out here were very professional. The pricing was pretty good.

The salesperson was very nice but everything started going downhill after that. On September 8th I met with Window Works and signed a contract to have windows and a door replaced. We had initially agreed that I would pay through a financing option at my bank. The financing didn't go through so on October 6th, I gave the sales person (Mark) a $1,000 cashier’s check for a down payment instead. Mark then said he would turn in the cashier’s check and then someone should be contacting me to take final measurements. This work was to be completed within 6 weeks from receiving this $1,000 down payment. After about a week no one had called me from Window Works. Therefore I called them and left a couple messages. I finally got a hold of someone named Jim at Window Works on 10/21/14. Jim told me it appeared as though they had yet to receive the down payment financing. I explained I gave Mark a $1,000 cashier's check. Jim put me on hold, investigated, came back to the call and told me he found record of the cashier's check payment. Jim then said someone should be calling me in the coming days to set up the final measurements. Nobody called in the coming days, so I called Jim on 10/28/14 and left a message because he was out of the office that day. I spoke with Jim on 10/29/14 and this time Jim told me the check didn’t go through and they don’t know why. I told them that’s impossible because it was a cashier’s check. Jim put me on hold, and then a lady came onto the call from the scheduling department to set up a time to take final measurements. At this point I don’t have confidence that Window Works will complete the job within the agreed upon 6 week time frame. I also don’t feel as though Window Works is making my job a priority as I would expect from a good company. Therefore I spoke with Jim about my request to cancel the service and get a refund of my $1,000 down payment. Jim said he would take care of it. At this point I want ensure Jim is actually going to send the check right away, because I’m going to have to find another company and start the process over. This likely will cause the work to carry over into the winter before it is completed, something I didn’t want to happen.

Signed contract 6/10/14 was promised it all would be done by end of July had to keep pestering them in August - they laughed at my frustration. Siding installed mid Aug - 2 pieces fell off 2 weeks later. Door color was coded wrong on contract - unfort. I signed it - did not install trim - came back to install today - wrong size trim - do not recommend!

They're very good. I have no complaints. The price was okay. I like the windows, they were more secured than the others. When I find some money, I might use them to put some more windows. I called them back again and I haven't got a response back from that yet. The first one was fine. I would probably use somebody else.

They didn’t do the best job in the world. I wouldn’t recommend them to anybody. They didn’t properly insulate these windows the way they should. They took the old windows out and did not properly insulate the new windows. Draft comes in through these windows as if the window was open. I would tell others to stay away from them. The price may seem good, but it's not worth it in the end. If we have bad windows that don’t do the job, we could have kept the old windows in.

Worst business interaction ever!!!! Rembrandt prices but with Elvis on Velvet Quality. Paperwork to start signed in August, 2013. Work not started until mid December, right before heart of winter. Better Business Bureau activities and job completion not done until May, 2014. Windows used were by a company called "Armiclad" which appears to be a shell corporation for Sound Solutions LLC. All buyers should refer to litigation and fraud surrounding Sound Solutions. http://www.nytimes.com/2010/12/24/us/24cncrepublic.html?_r=0 Subcontractors were the cheapest guys that Window Works could find. Did not know how to miter J channel associated with Vinyl siding install. Gutter install was a disaster. Water leaking on the back porch. I had to show them based on Google Search(!) how to fix the water issue. Very sweet talking/persistent front end sales followed by satanic installation and follow up support. Don't be fooled. Run away from these guys if you're looking for a job to be done. Beware, they come up first in google searches because they purchased all the ad words.

At the Glenview Sidewalk Sale on 6/28 we spoke with a representative of the Home Improvement Network about getting our gutters replaced. He said he would have several vendors call us for estimates. On 6/30/14 we set an appointment with Windowworks to come to our home. The appointment was set for 7/8/14. On 7/7/14 the young lady called to confirm the appointment for 7/8 at 6pm. She insisted that both homeowners had to be present or they would not come to the house. We confirmed that we would both be present. On 7/8 no one showed. We called the Home Improvement Network on 7/9 to tell them of the no show. We also told them we didn't want to hear from Windowworks again. On 7/16 the young lady called and left a message. She wanted to set up an appointment for a siding estimate. I called her back and told her of our experience. She told me they didn't come on 7/8 because we hadn't returned her phone calls to confirm the appointment. I disagreed with her. She apologized and told me she would talk to the Manager. She promised a 10% discount on our project. She asked for my e-mail address so that she could send a confirmation with appointment details. She was also going to send us $50 restaurant gift card. I set another appointment for 7/21 at 6pm. We never received an e-mail, a gift card or a visit.

My wife and I went to the Home Werks showroom and inquired about what it would cost to replace our patio door. The salesman said he did not have any idea and could not give us any prices but we could make an appointment for someone to come out and give us a price. The person that showed up was punctual and he proceeded to spend about an hour doing a show and tell about how well the doors and windows were made. When he brought out the heat lamp and started doing a demonstration of how well the glass would keep out the radiant heat without considering convection or the conduction of heat, I was completely turned off. He spent about 5 minutes taking measurements and not noticing that our door was slightly bowed or had some water damage at the bottom. He was there just to sell. None of our inside wood work would be saved. They would cap everything off with something as close to the original wood as possible. I presented an Angie's list coupon and he proceeded to write up an estimate. He then transferred his price onto another piece of paper so that we could not see the cost of the door, installation cost, or where any of the discounts were taken off. The price was $4200 good for 1 year or $2082 if we bought that day. RED FLAG. Needless to say that we did not go with this company. The next few days we got repeated calls from them wanting to have someone come out and give us another price. I got a reputable independent contractor who will charge us $500 labor. We will go with him and pick out the door. Simple. Buyer beware.

I had a very bad experience with them. They sent a salesman and he basically sat here for 6 hours trying to ask me to seal a deal right away. The guy wouldn't budge. I was told the estimate would take an hour. The guy showed up at 6pm, on time. He did not leave until 8:15. The presentation started out kind of silly fun, not unlike a cutco kid that shows up to demonstrate his wares. I thought it was harmless. When presented with the 3-tiered, handwritten prices - RIGHT NOW, THIS MONTH and THIS YEAR - I told him I wasn't planning on making a decision tonight so thanks. He pressured me for reasons why and I told him for starters I would need to discuss with the husband. He put his head down for a full minute, flared his nostrils, and complained that I had completely wasted his time. I was honestly kind of afraid, being home alone. I assured him that even if my husband was there we wouldn't be making a decision that evening because that's just not how we roll. We like to get a bunch of estimates, weigh options, and make informed decisions on our time. He continued to pressure me into committing that evening for a half an hour. I was tremendously relieved when he finally left. The windows seem nice. The selling is crazy.
