Great! They finished roof work in 1 day and couples days later the gutters where in. One leaf guard took a few more days to get installed. They search and found specialized leaf gutters for the flat roof which aren't vey common. They took pictures during work and sent them to me at my request. Invoice and pictures took a while to get to me... Summertime being busy time.

RK Roofing was very responsive to our questions as we were trying to compare bids, and when we asked them to upgrade to 30 pound felt paper, they did so with minimal costs. We were very happy with the quality of the workmanship and the crew was very respectful of our landscaping plants and cleaned up every evening before they left. We had a very good experience with RK Roofing and plan to use them again for our garage. We only have one minor suggestion and that relates to keeping customers up to date on the work schedule. We committed to the work late in the fall and we had to follow up a few times in the spring to ask about where we were in the queue. Jerry always got back to us promptly however. One other thing to note is that JRK Roofing did not want to take responsibility for matching the color of our roof shingles with a newer roof on a sun porch and new addition. That said, they dropped off color samples a few days prior to the start of the work and we selected the color that best matched the existing roof.

A very nice owner, who is a good communicator. A very professional, courteous, and timely crew. Hard working--from tear-off to shingle installation. Spotless clean up EVERY day. Responsive to calls / concerns throughout job--and even after the job was finished and payed for they came back to attend to a few final issues. Very good pricing and excellent execution.

Outstanding ! My son bought a home in Carpentersville, IL. There were problems with his roof despite the seller attesting to having them fixed , there were leaks as soon as he got the first storm. Having used Jerrys team at RK roofing for my own home, I was happy to hear that he was able to go out there and identify and fix the problem this is definitely my "go to"roofing company and I recommend them highly Thanks again Jerry.

I got 3 quotes to tear-off and replace my roof and RK's was the most competitive (as a single mother I don't have much cash to spare). They did an EXCELLENT job and I would recommend them to anyone. Jerry had to deal with my townhome association which is not an easy task - they only allow one type of shingle and require a very detailed proposal before issuing a permit. The guys who did the actual work were also very friendly and accommodating (at one point they had to move their truck and equipment so a carpet cleaner could get in through the garage). I could not be more satisfied with my first major repair purchase (other than the house itself)!

It went extremely well. We took advantage of an Angie's List roofing deal. Jerry was very prompt in replying once the deal was purchased, and the job was done as soon as there was a break from our very rainy spring. The (very courteous) workers showed up on time, did the roof as well as the extras we purchased: replacing rotten boards, adding an extra vent, replacing exhaust fan, connecting our bathroom exhausts to new vents, and removing the old TV antenna and heavy items from the attic. They also cut holes in the soffits for proper ventilation. Day one was the tear-off, and it started raining in the afternoon. They covered the roof and finished the next day. When I got home from work I couldn't even tell anyone had been working there. There was no damage to the landscaping and no debris anywhere. Hire them! You won't be disappointed!

Scheduling with Jerry was difficult- first he doesn't work weekends, so Saturday wasn't an option, and as soon as I bought the deal from you, and called him to schedule, he said he was booked out for weeks. I kept pushing for a date, and finally I got him to agree to the end of March. Once I bought the deal, Jerry sent me a satellite view of my house, and told me it would be an additional $1200.00 dollars if I wanted my roof replaced. He said my roof was over 2000sf, I told him I had several roofers come out for quotes before I bought this deal from you, and they all measured my roof, and all the quoted measurements came in under 2000sf. I told him unless he honors the deal I purchased, I would cancel it. The next day he said he would do it. I don't appreciate Jerry trying to jack up the price $1200 dollars on me. Very dishonest. Another issue, is that Jerry would seldom if ever reply to my emails, when I asked questions about the shingles, the layers of material that would be put on, the number of years the warranty (which I never received from Jerry), is good for etc., It was clear he didn't want to put anything in writing. This was very frustrating for me. I was asking questions because I needed the answers. On the day scheduled to put the roof on, I came home to find the roofers just finishing up- Jerry was not present. The crew was very nice, and cleaned up the mess on my property stemming from the roof installation. It was a cold day, so I made the crew some hot coffee, and they were grateful. I thought everything was fine. Since I could not be present for the roof install, I specifically asked Jerry by phone and email to have his staff take cell phone pictures of the old roof being removed, and every new layer of material being put down on the roof, so I could verify they used all the layers they said they would use. Jerry never told his staff. I know this because I asked my neighbor to remind the crew the day of the install to take pictures. Jerry's crew had no idea what my neighbor was talking about- so she instructed them to take pictures of the old roof removal, and every layer put down- I got some pictures, but they failed to take pictures of the layer of ice shield, so I have no idea or proof if this was ever laid down, and now I will never know. Not long after, both my neighbor and my Dad noticed right away that there were several areas along the perimeter of the roof line where shingles were uplifted, and not nailed down flat, as they should be. I called Jerry right away, and emailed him. He never returned my calls, and after several emails telling him about these uplifted shingles, and asking when he would be out to fix this poor workmanship, I received no reply. I emailed again and again, and the response I finally got was "no problem". What does this mean? Does this mean he is going to fix the poor workmanship or not? I specifically asked in my emails for a time and date when someone would come out to address their poor work- I never got an answer. I have utterly had it with Jerry of RK Roofing, I have a roof with uplifted shingles, which can allow for rain to get in, and rodents. I paid for something in good faith, and didn't get what I paid for. Not only does Jerry's conduct reflect poorly on RK Roofing as a company, it also reflects poorly on Angie's List for representing RK Roofing as a quality roofing provider. I am respectfully asking for two things, the warranty for my roof that Jerry told me he would give me and never did, and a refund of my purchase price.

Never used R K Roofing due to roof pitch and hidden costs not shown in the deal. Received full refund from the Angie's List deal and went with another roofer from Angie's which did an excellent job. Angie's staff was very helpful in the process.

Excellent service from start to finish. It was a pleasure to work with Jerry. He is honest and very professional. Explained everything in detail and kept me well informed. His workers did an excellent job; they arrived exactly on time, moved patio furniture, protected and cleaned everything when done. Will recommend for sure!

Everything went really well. Jerry was very responsive to all of my questions and the job was scheduled in a timely fashion. The roof was completed in 1-1/2 days with a short-handed staff. The crew cleaned everything up both days and did extra work upon request. I would highly recommend R K Roofing to anyone based on my experience. The price was very reasonable as well.

Extremely professional and very appropriately priced. Jerry came out to give the estimate and worked with us on some of the special request we had. Also, we knew that there might be a need to replace the decking (plywood), and it turned out that almost the entire roof needed to be replaced. Even with this extra amount of work, they still almost completed the entire job in one day and would have if this was done during the Summer when it daylight is longer. Absolutely would hire again and refer R K Roofing to anyone I personally know, and do so with confidence. Had three quotes and they were the most reasonable, not the cheapest on every part of the job, but the most reasonable and very affordable when all the work was added together. Pay close attention to many of the roofing companies out there, they will quote a price but have a lot of hidden charges that you won't expect up front. R K Roofing simply doesn't do that kind of nonsense.

I could not have asked for a better job. From the initial purchase all the way through to the finished project, everything went perfectly. Jerry kept me advised of when the roof work was scheduled, called me the day before the work was planned to advise that weather was going to prevent them from starting, but that it would start the following day. The workers showed up on the rescheduled date, went right to work, protected everything (windows, plants, air conditioners, I mean everything), asked me a few questions during the job to make sure I was comfortable with what they were going to do, and by the end of the first day, 90% of work was done (2,200 sq ft roof). They even trimmed a few trees, after asking me if that was okay, to prevent the branches from damaging the new roof. The next day, they completed the work and when they left, you would've never known they were here. I am extremely happy with how the job went, the workers were extremely nice, and the finished product looks awesome. The neighbors even comment on how nice it looks and how quick it was all done. Several neighbors have roofs nearing time to replace, so many of them were inquiring. I've recommended R.K. Roofing to all of them.

I got my roofing job done by them in 2015 and very pleased with there work. looking at my roof my neighbor also hired him in 2016 and got the job done. they are also very pleased.

perfectly couldn't ask for a smoother repair

They were spectacular and completed the work as agreed. They sent five guys out and they finished the roof in a little more than half a day. I highly recommend them to others. I worked with a great guy named Jerry.

R K Roofing send a guy out to do the estimate. They don't schedule a date to make sure you're around; they just come out and do it and leave the estimate in the mailbox. That said, the estimate was the lowest I'd received from anywhere else. This should have been a red flag, but I went with it. In the end, my estimate of $3600 ended up almost DOUBLE at $6700! Here's what went wrong: 1.) The guys sent out to do the reroofing also did gutter and soffit work. None of the guys told me it would be extra and even if they did, there was no one around that could quote it. I assumed that they were just keeping me updated on the work being done and that it'd be included since both of those things would be easily visible at time of inspection. In reality, they were upselling me more work that would be invoiced on top of the estimate. 2.) The same guys had me come up to look at the roof due to finding that the issue with the sagging was due to structural problems with the roof itself (support beams too far apart). While I was up there they told me that there were 3 problem areas but that the rest of the plywood was fine. I assumed that meant that most of the plywood was not going to be replaced. But, in the end I was charged for replacing most (if not all) of the plywood. 3.) The same guys were not carpenters so they had the owner call me (he was not present) who told me he would have to get carpenters out to fix the roof to guarantee the work. I said that I needed to know how much more it would be. He said he wouldn't know until the next day when the carpenters were out. I expressed that if it's a lot it would fall outside of my budget so it's important to know the cost. The carpenters arrived and basically went to work. The owner was there and told me about the issue but again, no re-quote or update on cost. I asked again and mentioned my budget again, and he said he would send me the invoice at the end of the day. I assumed that meant it wasn't going to be a lot higher cost than the estimate or budget. Turned out it was a lot more and I didn't get the invoice for 2 days. 4.) I told Jarek (the owner) when I signed the contract that I had a company repairing the chimney so that I didn't need the flashing replaced. They verified at the time the job was done that it didn't need to be changed. But the estimate that included the replacement cost/work wasn't adjusted. When they did the work, they brought a mushroom vent and told me it had to be put on every job that didn't have one. I told him that I already had a chimney guy coming out to work on it, but he put it on anyway and I was charged for it. In addition, it turns out that I was charged ANOTHER fee for the mushroom vent on top of the estimate. So it looks like I was charged twice. And I didn't even need it because I already had paid for one to be put on by the chimney company. So I was expecting $3500 (adjusted estimate) + $200 (plywood) + $500 (contractor) based on the above. So I really wasn't expecting to pay much more than $4000. In the end the final bill was almost $7000! You would think that a final bill that far off the estimate would have had a lot more communication during the job, but there wasn't. I ended up having to take out an emergency loan from my bank to pay the full invoice. And because this job was done in November, that meant completely ruining my Christmas plans. I was really not happy with the surprise increase and let Jarek know over Angielist mail, but he would only attempt to reach me by phone during my work hours when I didn't have time to talk. The only positive points is that they matched the garage roof color very well, did the work quickly, and so far it hasn't sagged after a couple snowfalls. That said, I can't recommend a company who would give a barebones quote to get the job and then try to get a bunch more money out of you. I understand that there are instances were more work has to be done to get the job done. But in those cases, the homeowner should be notified of the cost so they can make arrangements as needed; NOT just do the job without any communication of cost and then stick the homeowner with a bill you came up with 2 days later.
