After calling them directly, they indicated they could visit for an estimate 22 days from the date of my call, to which I reluctantly agreed. A gentleman visited at the appropriate day and time and was friendly as I explained what we were looking for. He promised an emailed estimate would be sent in the next week. It has now been six weeks and I've not heard anything from this company. That's a waste of my time. I eventually had the work done by another vendor, who was very responsive. Give your business to vendors who truly want it, not those who are so busy that they don't bother to follow through.

They did a very good job especially with the bushes and the rock. It looks very neat. I had to wait a few weeks before they could do it mostly due to the weather. The crew was very courteous and did the job quickly.

They showed up at 8am and were complete by 10am. The three gentlemen that were sent worked hard and non-stop and were extremely friendly as well. The work that was completed was done like someone was watching over them. They paid attention to the details of the work.

I met with Robert to go through the scope of work and discuss ideas. It was a long wish list. He came back in a reasonable amount of time with a quote that tied back to my original wish list along with a drawing. His quote was consistent with what we discussed and did not attempt to upsell or add plants in areas I didn't want. His prices were competitive with my other quotes. He was receptive to my request to keep the overall design intact, but scale down the quantity of plants in order to keep within my budget. When I feared I would have to forego a bluestone patio, he was able to suggest a comprise of using man-made bluestone instead. He came back out one more time to finalize the design, get a sign-off and a deposit. In terms of scheduling the job, he worked with me to accommodate a trip I had planned. I was concerned if the work was completed before I returned that I wouldn't be there to water all the new plants. He offered to have one of his crew water them while I was gone if needed. The crew that did the work was very efficient and very neat. They cleaned up the job site every day. They finished what seemed like a heck of a lot of work in 4 days. My prior experience with landscapers had the owner on site with the workers each day, but that was not the case here. Robert did stop by halfway through to check the progress and to mark the bed sizes and shapes. I wasn't home at that time, so he emailed me to let me know and to check in. I never had a problem getting him on the phone if I had a question and his crew proved themselves capable of self-direction. They knew what needed doing and got to it. Now that the work is done, I'm still happy with the design and very pleased with the installation. I've had neighbors I know and a few I don't know compliment me on the new landscaping. The paver landing on the side of the house passed inspection without a hitch and allowed me to close out a deck permit that had been left hanging by a prior contractor. They followed up with me via email to confirm that I was happy with the work and to see if I had questions. They also reconfirmed their warranties on the plants. I have no problem recommending Semper Fi and would use them again.

There were scheduling issues. I wanted to be there when they came and they said they were running behind schedule. When I was on vacation they showed up and they ended up putting mulch in places I didn't want like behind my shed. They did a good job though.

Unfortunately I called for an estimate/quot and they indicated they didn't service my location - Darien, IL - although it states on this site that they cover DuPage county. The woman I spoke with was very nice but when I told her it lists DuPage county on Angie's List she said that's been an issue that's been going on for some time.

These people are truly UNBELIEVABLE! They showed-up on time every day and worked at least 9 hours a day until our dream was finished. Robert was very much the real leader, you might say a Marine General, in getting exactly what we wanted and his workers understood what we expected in our design. The materials they used were strictly "First Class" all the way from the trees, scrubs, flowers, rocks and our stone we picked-out. BTW: Their stone cutter was awesome! I cannot say enough "good-solid things" about Robert, the owner, and his crew. It sounds conceited but my wife and I think we have "maybe" the most beautiful lawn in North Aurora and Kane County!!!!!!!!!! The only thing I can add is the phase, "You only get what you pay for". Semper Fi was a bargain! Thank you again Semper Fi, you guys are MAGNIFICENT !!!!

I use him on Tuesdays and Fridays and I have used him for years.

Showed up on time, worked quickly and cleaned up before they left. Looks great!

I contacted Semper Fi & several other contractors in April for a spring clean up quote. Only two of the four contractors got back to me. The other contractor scheduled an appointment two weeks out, and then "dropped in" a few days earlier without calling so I was unable to explain what I wanted done. Rudy of Semper Fi arrived at the scheduled time/date, provided a fair estimate on the spot, and the office followed up with an email & phone call. The work was performed on my schedule and I am absolutely thrilled with the results. The crew was here for around eight hours and were courteous, hard working, helpful and respectful. They cleaned up everything, blew debris off the sidewalks, lawn and hauled away all the waste. I was a little apprehensive about paying 50% in advance to schedule the work, but I will call no one but them for future clean ups. I've already got them on my calendar for this Fall and next Spring!

I got a call 2 days before my scheduled appointment to verify we were still on to meet. I said yes and the polite lady stated if they were to get the work they currently were 8 weeks out before work would begin. I canceled the appointment. 2 weeks to get a quote and 8 weeks before work begins. I am Glad they are busy. Hire some help.

It didn't go he never got back to us!

Robert noticed what needed to be done to the yard and what did not. His team was punctual and did terrific work. The yard looks great!

Everything is going well, I cant' say how the mowing, lawn treatment is as it hasn't started yet. However I can say based on other reviews and the work they have done so far for me, things will go very well Robert and his team are very attentive, punctual and also very responsive when you call and leave a message. They answer any and all questions you may have.

The service was excellent. He was very good at being prompt. He has always done good work anytime I have used him. He leaves the work area looking excellent.

The stoop between the house and the back patio was collapsing - the bricks were loose and wobbly and there was a huge indentation in the top step/platform. Semper Fi completely rebuilt the stoop instead of just repairing it and it is now very solid. They changed the design a little bit and we actually like the new design better. This is the second tiime we have used Semper Fi - the fixed our front brick step last year. We will definitely use Semper Fi in the future. Thanks Robert.

Very unresponsive, not timely returning calls or showing up to do the work. When we did talk with them they were very nice though. Actual mulching looked good; obviously didn't pull the grass and weeds out of the bed (within just a few days they popped through the mulch) which we specifically asked them to do, told me that it was taking to long (even though they came out to give us the estimate). After they were there some of our outdoor lights were out, after contacting them to come back out and check them we never heard back from them. Were a little pricey for what they did.

Robert and his crew from Semper Fi were fantastic! I've worked with a lot of contractors over the years, and this was by far the best customer service I've ever received. Robert's attention to detail, professionalism, and promptness was exceptional. I can't say enough how much I appreciate the extra effort and politeness we received from Robert and his crew. I picked Semper Fi out of the 3 estimates we got because Robert was the only one that listened to everything I said and gave us a detailed quote for each item I asked for. There was some delay in starting the work due to the weather, but Franny in the office did give me updates on how far out our job was, and any questions I had got answered promptly. Once the work started, Robert coordinated the concrete company and the A/C unit removal (so the concrete could be poured) without me having to do anything. Out of the 6 or 7 days that workers were here from either Semper Fi or the concrete company, there might have been only 1 day that Robert didn't personally stop in to check on progress and to see if I had any questions or concerns. His crew was in uniform, they were very professional and answered any questions I had. We asked them to do a few extra things for us once they were here (fill in some ditches that extended into my in-laws yard next door, take away some giant boulders from both properties, etc.) and each time they responded that it would be no problem and they would be happy to. Every concern we had was taken care of, they filled in tracks from the dozer with dirt and seed, Robert even had one of his crew power wash the driveway once my husband mentioned the tire tracks. When Robert said something would be taken care of that day, or by tomorrow, he meant it. Not once did I have to ask again about any small thing. The exceptional service we received, combined with the quality of work, is rare these days! I will highly recommend Robert and Semper Fi to anyone looking for landscaping services!

Fantastic. Robert was a pleasure to work with and so was the crew. The planting areas were immaculately cleaned up and they even swept up the street in front of our house. Will absolutely do business with them again. They are not the cheapest option, but in my opinion, you get what you pay for and the arborvitaes are in great shape!

Robert and his team organized the large project very well. It covered an area over 10,000 sq feet and required protection of the pipes in the septic field. First, they removed the piles of chips from the downed trees and hauled them off. Then while protecting the septic field drains, they brought in fresh soil and covered the tree stump areas as well as the furrows in the septic field, leveling the areas very well. They put down erosion fabric in all the areas and planted grass seed in all areas, doing even more than we had requested. Now, in August, the lawn areas are all full of fresh green, growing grass, the lawn is level, and we are very pleased with the results.

They put up a beautiful chimney, but in the process they destroyed the grass around the chimney. We were told if the grass doesn’t come back in the spring they would come back to fix it, but they have not come back and I have not been able to get a hold of them. Some of the grass is crab grass now and the rest of it destroyed. They also left tread marks from the driveway beside the deck to the side of the chimney. We also believe that the chimney may have been built a little short for our roof.
