I can not think of many times work has gone smoother with a contractor. I would use Mal's company again.

It was done through insurance because it was done through an insurance claim, so I can't really say what it would have been like if we had to handle it outside of insurance. It was handled through our insurance so our out of pocket was our deductible. They were very responsive in terms of coming out. We had a couple of issues post completion that they took care of right away. The only issue that we had were the guys, the installers, after the job was over, we found numerous nails and whatnot throughout our yard, cigarette buds throughout our yard, so just a couple of those issues that we discussed with the owner.

Mal, the owner, delivered as promised. He had a team of two men perform the installation. They took their time and did a fine job. Their were some extras and they did a good job on them as well. While the workers were very skilled, Mal frequently visited the job site and made certain everything was going according to plan. I'm not a siding expert, but I wanted to be sure all aspects of the installation were being done properly so I asked a lot of questions. The guys were always ahead of me and patiently answered my many, many questions. Neither Mal or the workers ever seemed to take shortcuts or skip agreed upon extras, which so many other contractors do, One thing that appears to be unique about Mal's installation is the way he profiles the doors and windows. Every piece of metal is painstakingly bent before installation resulting in a rich look to the trim. The man who does it is an artist with a break. They did one side at a time, which I appreciated, and while my home was definitely a job site, they kept supplies reasonably neat. After the job was completed, the dumpster and leftover supplies were quickly removed leaving almost no mess for me. I had the job done because, while maintained, my 40 year old cedar was starting to show it's age. I personally don't think siding adds much to a house, but I was amazed at how many people walking by commented on how nice the new siding looks. I would use Mal again.

Mal Graifman placed his highly skilled and diligent team to work. The team replaced our old aluminum siding with vinyl - gorgeous! Then tore off our old stucco and Tudor style cross boards. They used a hardy board to replace both and the look could not be more appealing and beautiful! Lastly, they replaced an enormous amount of wood trim and then carefully wrapped it with aluminum. Long story short, we could not be happier with the job Mal's team completed!! They exceeded our expectations and their attention to detail was nothing short of amazing!! I would happily recommend Professional Home Improvement to anyone!

These folks were the first honest company I talked to in my search for 1) assessing whether any repair was needed, and 2) what it would need to be. Companies were going door to door in my neighborhood, trying to sell everyone the fantasy of "There were storms here ergo we can make your insurance redo all your siding for free!" I'm glad I talked to Professional Home Improvement as well; they helped me not to fall into the other companies' trap of lodging insurance claims for unnecessary repairs.

Finished product is excellent, found the right color and thickness. Mal made several site visits and kept us informed. Professional 2 man crew.

Appointment was scheduled for a Tuesday. Was rescheduled due to inclement weather to Thursday. Mal never showed up for the appointment nor called to cancel.

The owner and his crew were courteous, professional and fair. They kept us updated on issues they identified throughout the process. The result looks great!

I cannot give a more glowing review. I had storm damage to my siding and had no idea how to properly deal with the situation through the insurance. I called Mal, the owner, after seeing all the positive reviews on this site. Mal was out the next day to take a look. He explained exactly how the process worked with the insurance company and walked me through the steps, even meeting the insurance adjuster the day they came out to survey the damage. The claim was approved and the guys were out within 2 weeks to start. When I say these guys busted their a** every day they were here and did a spectacular job, I'm not exaggerating. The job went well, very professional installers, and the owner's suggestions were helpful. Selecting siding color went smoothly. Selecting fascia and soffit colors was more challenging due to changes manufactures in colors available. We are very pleased with the final look of our home..

Overall, we were very happy with the finished product. We loved the quality of the siding and the aesthetics. Mal Graifman, the owner, spent a great deal of time with us on the initial design and took care to walk us through every step of the process. When we asked him for references we were pointed to three houses, all of which appeared to be done with top of the line product and were beautiful. However, as a comparison, when discussing the project with another contractor, that contractor gave us pages of references, so that we could see not only his best work, but also his oldest work, to get a good feel for how it would look over time. I wish Mal had done the same. Ultimately, we chose Mal and the Professionals because of the presentation and Mal really prided himself on his craftsmanship, as well as the fact that he could guarantee who would be working on our house and that they had decades of experience with his company. We found that to be incredibly valuable. Mal came up with a great, yet simple (to conform with our budget) idea for the remodel of our front porch. My only areas of complaint would be that the project took quite longer than expected (which was in part due to weather and personal issues with his crew that were unavoidable), and that it seemed like we really had to stay on top of things to make sure the project was done according to the initial plan. A couple examples include that (1) the wrong color gable vent was installed (and only noticed when we pointed it out) and (2) the siding was almost completely installed on the front of the house when I noticed that the belly board was forgotten. I felt like Mal could have paid closer attention to the project while it was in progress. But with all that being said, Mal was very responsive and his crew worked very hard to finish the project as soon as they could. We only had minor details that needed to be changed during the final walk through, and to this day I am totally thrilled with the end result. We had a difficult house to work with, and Mal made sure we were able to get what we wanted within our budget, even with some unexpected complications. We had Professional Home Improvement replace the siding and gutters on our old house about ten years ago and were very happy and impressed with the job they did so when we recently purchased a new house and needed new siding, gutters and windows they were the first company we called and are just as happy and impressed with the job they did this time. Mal and his crew are true professionals who are a pleasure to deal with and who do it the right way and pay great attention to detail and craftsmanship. The results exceeded our expectations and our home looks beautiful. Our front porch was pretty crooked and there was a support post right in the middle of our large living room picture window. We were just hoping to get it quite a bit better, but they managed to get it perfectly straight and level and found a way to remove the post so now we have an unobstructed view.

We had expectations regarding the quality of the work. The team delivered. The quality was superior and customer service was great. Owner, Mal, went above a beyond to make sure we were happy with final product.

We had our roof and siding replaced by Professional Home Improvement in May of 2010. I wanted a particular color of siding, and as far as the style, I wanted vertical for the front and horizontal for the rest of the house. Horizontal was not a problem, but finding the vertical was a little more difficult. Mal Graifman (the owner) looked all over for the siding I needed, and he finally found it after 1-11/2 weeks. They did a wonderful job of working with me and our insurance company. The house looks beautiful, and I have had many positive comments about it and the roof as well. In early 2015 I developed a problem with some of the caulking around some of the windows and patio door, and Mal came out and went around the house and recaulked everything............. FREE OF ANY CHARGES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not even for the caulk!!!!!!!!! I would highly recommend Professional Home Improvement to anyone, and I have!!!!! It's not one of your big name companies, but sometimes that is better. They're not to big to NOT CARE ABOUT YOU after the job is done. They have that small town, local approach to doing business and that's what really appeals to me. They do the little things that will make you want to come back to them for other services they offer because they care about you after the job is completed......................... and in my case, years later.

Mal and his crew did a phenomenal job on our house! Our house went from dirty and drab to fabulous and refreshed. We got new siding, soffits, gutters, columns, etc. A complete overhaul of old to new. Mal is very knowledgeable about his profession and it was clear that he is passionate about what he does. He always responded to me within a timely manner and, even after my job was completed, he has still responded right away to different questions I’ve had. It’s clear he wants his customers happy and will work to do the best job possible to make that happen. If you book with Mal, you won’t regret it. He includes a very detailed quote and doesn’t add extra expenses on after the job has started. Since this was such an expensive job, we felt good knowing that the quoted price was what we would end up paying. We highly recommend Mal and his crew!!

My husband spoke with the company and went over all the work we needed done. They even sent us an email. I was told they would be in contact with us. It's been two weeks, and I hadn't heard anything back. I called the business number today, and was told they would call us back in 10 minutes. The provider called back can claims he had no recollection us talking to him. I told him that we had spoke, I was looking at the email they'd sent. He asked me to jog his memory. I told him he should remember us, because he'd talked to my husband for over half an hour! I said "If you can't remember, then how can you do business like this?" The owner hung up on me. I would not use this company again. The man I spoke to, Mal, said he was the owner. If that's how he acts, imagine how his workers act.

Our home is a colonial about 50 years old, and the sad aluminum siding on the second floor was showing its age. I contacted four siding firms for quotes. All but one on Angie’s List, and all were rated highly. We settled on Professional Home Improvement not because of price, but because of the detail and depth of knowledge with which Mal Graifman presented in his proposal. The job involved siding, soffit and fascia, new gutters with leaf guards and oversize downspouts. In his walk-around, Mal noted that we had insufficient venting in the eves, and too few downspouts for the length of gutter runs. He even noted that the service door to the garage (which we never use) detracted from the appearance of our home. In conversation with Mal, it was easy to see that his construction expertise and grasp of the aesthetic was based on years of experience and solid common sense. Not only that, but this guy is really fun to work with. Mal’s team arrived and began work on the south side of the house. Old siding was removed, any questionable substructure was replaced, and windows were built out for high definition per Mal’s suggestion. Foil faced underlayment was installed with Tyvek House wrap. Sixteen foot 0.046 vinyl panels were used to minimize seams. Aluminum soffit, fascia, and porch ceiling were installed. Old ornamental iron columns were replaced with load bearing square columns, and a new insulated steel garage service door was installed. Although we did not discuss it, Mal’s team redid the aluminum capping on the first floor windows and added aluminum trim around entry doors. Mal’s philosophy was not to shortcut on the appearance of the home. Mal’s craftsmen worked tirelessly and always with concern for the neighbors. Every particle of scrap was removed at the end of each workday. Mal periodically checked their progress and quality of their work, so there were never any fire drills or questions about what needed to be done. I was so impressed with the quality of the job, I gave each installer a case of beer during final cleanup as a gesture of thanks. It all comes down to the notion that if you are going to invest in the appearance and functionality of your home, do it right the first time. We are extremely happy with the work done by the crew at Professional Home Improvement. It looks great! We’ve already received many comments from our neighbors on how nice the house looks. They basically replaced everything on the house exterior but the roof and windows. Mal Graifman worked with us on the design and gave us excellent suggestions on all the trim work. We went with Alside Charter Oak premium vinyl plus R3.6 foil faced insulation and Tyvek house wrap. The soffit, fascia, gutters and trim are aluminum, with the corners capped in vinyl complementary to the siding. They paid special attention to ensuring the front bay windows look fantastic. Two new raised panel AFCO Industries Acadian style columns support the porch. A half-round garage attic vent was installed to complement the half-round master bedroom window. The crew was very professional and courteous. They did a wonderful job going above and beyond to make everything look good, including building out the facing on the front porch roof a little so the profile matches the new columns. The price was reasonable for the quality of work provided. We strongly recommend them.

Mal and his team did a great job siding my house and it looks beautiful. It is the small details which really add up - framing around the windows, light fixtures and outlets. They also found and fixed a problem with a window installation done by another contractor. I needed a couple of new windows so I felt confident giving that job to Mal also. Highly recommend!

I had a couple of more windows which needed to be replaced so I hired Mal to do that also and I am very happy with these new windows.

Mal and his staff did a phenomenal job. In total, the project was $105,000. It's not often that you find a contractor who has attention to detail. My wife and I thought that this was the most important factor in choosing Mal and Professional Home Improvement to do our project. Mal was always responsive and attentive to any concerns that we had before, during, and after the project. He even had the LP representative to the area come out on site and go over the installation and discuss warranty information and the reasons for their specific installation as the installation was going on. We HIGHLY recommend using Mal if you want great service and even better work done to the exterior of your home. We can't say this enough. We will be calling him again if we ever need to do any additional exterior work down the road.

Mal, from Professional home Improvements, Inc. was a blast to work with! Our personalities connected because of his witty nature. The siding fell off of one side of our home after the windstorms in the area in February 2016. We got two quotes. Mal was our first quote...he responded promptly to our call and came to our home next day. He explained that we had a legitimate insurance claim and walked us through the process of how insurance claims work. He met with the insurance adjuster and they walked around the property together and agreed on measurements, square footage, etc. Our siding could not be matched so our insurance covered replacement of the whole house. We were very happy about that. The front of our house had two different sized windows (which looked uneven and ugly because they were recessed). Mal suggested replacing one window to the same size as the other window, building the trim out a bit so the windows "pop"and adding a decorative attic vent. It turned out beautiful. Very esthetically pleasing. We couldn't be happier with Mal and his workers. However, another important part of this review is that of our second quote. It was absolutely awful. We called a place (actually rated quite well on Angie's list), Window Works. They send a guy out to talk to us and asked for an hour and a half of our evening time and wanted to make sure both me and my husband were home. When he got to our home he never walked around our property and measured like Mal did from Professional Home Improvements, Inc. This man quoted us a price of $15,000 and said that our home was 15 square but he never measured it (We knew it wasn't 15 square because Mal was our first quote and he told us it was way less than that and his quote was $6300). BIG difference. My husband and I knew at that point that Window Works was trying to scam us so we declined the offer to do the work for $15,000. When we declined all of the sudden he said that we had 12 square on the house and he would come down to $12,000 to do the work. When we declined again he became persistent and even offensive to us...then he called his boss on the phone right in front of us. We could not get this person out of our home! Needless to say, my husband and I realized just what an honest wonderful contractor we encountered on our first quote with Mal from Professional Home Improvements, Inc. so we called him back immediately to get our work started. We had a little bit of a wait because he had another job before us....but for his honesty and integrity...it was well worth the wait...and we were very pleased with the quality of the work and the outcome as well. Mal gets 5 stars from us here in Arlington Heights, IL. Thank you Mal for running your business with honesty and integrity. Thumbs up! :-).

Mal was exceedingly professional throughout the process of getting my mother's home re-sided and on the market for sale. I think the new siding helped us sell the home in only one day! The transformation was amazing and it added immense curb appeal. His employees are very efficient and equally skilled. They did all the work without leaving one single nail pop anywhere in the drywall. That was surprising considering how many cosmetic improvements we had to do to the interior of our home after our siding was replaced. Mal was very accommodating with respect to the timing of the work and even had his guys come back to adjust the siding after we had our porch mudjacked. They made everything look perfect. The home was well insulated very carefully prior to the siding installation. They sealed up an old window in the garage and sided over it-lending to a more aesthetically pleasing and professional look overall. Mal was very helpful long after the fact- several months after the job was completed. He helped me order 3 more pieces of siding so that I could fix a spot of the house where a sloppy plumber routed a sump pump discharge. The house looks perfect! I really don't think we would've sold it so quickly, had we not invested the money to have the siding replaced. Mal's outfit is very honest and professional. He is transparent and easy to get to if you have questions. Exceptional job all around!

They were really nice to work with. They have good knowledge and made good recommendations. I got new gutters with leaf guard. Leaf guard can be expensive, and I thought they gave a good price. They just finished the job and I thought everything looked really good. I had tube extensions on the end of my old gutters, and they even bolted those onto my new gutters, which I didn't think of asking for. Also, from a bad wind in the early spring, it blew off a piece of siding and took care of that as well. I should mention that there was a lag of 4-6 weeks from when I had it first looked at to when they did the work, but it was well worth the wait.

I finally got a hold of him on March 26th and he told me he never stopped him. He apologized and said he would call me on Monday to figure out a day to stop by - that never happened either. All I wanted was a quote. Don't waste your time with this company.
