I had a problem with both of my 40 gallon gas water heaters. One was leaking and the other one would randomly shut down. I made the decision to upgrade to a tankless system. My two main concerns were quality of the equipment, quality of the install and price. I was given a price by another company and realized the price was going to be expensive. I contacted Kevin, owner of Paragon. He personally came to my house to look at my current system and explained every detail of the tankless system. He went over every aspect of the installation. I took a trip to his shop where he had a unit set up for me to look at. He took the time to further explain the system to me. Kevin was also aware of my concern of how much the system cost. He worked with me on pricing until I was comfortable with the total amount. The install was on July 11. The Chris and William arrived on time. This was great, because one of my main concerns was how long the water would be shut off. He was aware of my concern and said the water would be off for 2 hours tops. He was right. The install took the entire work day. The work looked neat and professional when they were done. During the install, Will noticed the main gas line on the outside of the house had a slight leak. It was a minor problem but was something I needed to have fixed. I scheduled Chris to come back a week later and fix the leak.

We chose Paragon after searching Angie's List for plumbers who claimed experience with tankless water heaters. I visited the web sites of 5 or 6 of the top-rated listings to see what they said about tankless heaters to get an idea of their levels of expertise. Paragon's information impressed me, but I was really impressed that they had a showroom where we could actually see the units they offer. So, my wife and I visited with Kevin Polka in their showroom who took all the time we wanted to show us the units and answer our questions. We were impressed with his knowledge and professionalism, but most impressed with the lack of high pressure or "let's make a deal." approach. We told him we always "sleep on it" before we make a decision involving major expense, and he was fine with that. Although, as soon as we got in the car, we both knew Paragon was the source for us. We asked Kevin if he would come to our house to look at what we're dealing with, assuring him we would only do that if we were serious about buying a unit. He said he'd be happy to do that. We called him and asked him to come out, which he did the same day. He thoroughly went over the plumbing details showing us exactly where the unit would go and answered all our questions. We did the contract that day. Since we live in unincorporated DuPage County, which requires a permit for water heaters, we set an installation period two weeks out. TIP: To get a permit in DuPage, you must fill out the application and present it with the specification sheet for the unit and A NOTARIZED LETTER OF INTENT TO INSTALL FROM THE PLUMBER. The application is on the County Web Site. I noticed the requirement for the spec sheet, but either missed the letter requirement or it's not there. Also, the plumber must be registered with the County or they will not issue a permit. With two trips to the county for the permit, that took almost as long as the installation itself. The installation day came, and two of the nicest and obviously competent men showed up along with Mark Newman, the plumber. They went right to work and completed the installation in about six hours. I can't say enough about how great Will, Chris and Mark were. When there were decisions to be made, they involved us, fully explaining the ramifications of the different alternatives. They left our utility area cleaner than it was when they arrived. In mortaring around the vents where they had to drill through the brick, Will even pulverized some of the waste brick and mixed it with the mortar to match our bricks! The DuPage County plumbing inspector approved the installation today. He even commented that they did a really nice job on the installation. He also commented that they sized the unit correctly for our needs adding that many providers undersize to keep the price down. Although we've only had the unit for four days, we couldn't be happier. So, if you're looking to get a tankless water heater, look no further than Paragon. Now, I've got to go take a very long shower, and I don't have to worry about what other appliances might be using hot water..

Krzysztof and Kevin were both very pleasant and professional. I thought they listened to the problems we were experiencing and worked hard to identify issues and resolve them. Our water heater is working much better since Krzysztof's work occurred, and we would certainly recommend this company and will use them again to service our tankless water heater. I should mention that our brand of tankless water heater is not common (takagi) and this was one of the only companies I could find that would come to service the unit - I probably called about 10 plumbers before finding this company, and I'm very pleased with the professionalism and quality of work we received.

I have used them in the past after a different installing company botched some things. I have been impressed by their knowledge and goal to do the job right. They ask questions and don't try to sell what you don't need. I initially thought they were pretty expensive. They may be a little expensive but not by much and I truly do not believe they would try to "just make money off you". I've had some issues with the office that they need to improve but getting past that it is worth dealing with them to get the job done right.

Our tankless water heater went out during a terrible cold snap. We put in a repair ticket on line at 11 pm, and I heard from Kevin Polka before 7 the next morning. Christopher was out here by 9, solved the problem, and spent time talking through ways to prevent the problem in the future. I was very pleased with the service from start to finish and will likely call them again to maintain the unit in the future.

Excellent. Kevin and team are up on the latest technology for heating and cooling. And although they cost a little more than others, they are well worth it. Their customer service is very good.
